Hello all! My son Ethan will be turning 3 in March, in the middle of a planned WDW vacation. Couple of questions...

1) What are some success stories for Birthday party ideas? It will just be the family, but we still want to do something special!

2) Does Disney have any special things for birthdays we can look into?

3) This will sound silly...but since we will have three extra days AFTER he turns three, should we purchase park passes for him on his birthday?

Thanks all for any advice you have!!

Bob.

Hello Here's Tigger2U,

The first thing if your son starts out at 2 and turns 3 during the trip, he is condiered 2 for the remainder of the trip and you do not have to pay for him.

So far, my DS is turing 3 on our trip and what I have found is to make sure EVERYONE knows it is his b-day. Put in on your room reservations, restaurant reservations, everything you can think of! For my son, we are celebrating his b-day a couple of days there (my parents are split.) The first thing is you can order a cake for a fee tocome to the table. We have Mickey cakes coming on two different occassions! Then, I tried to celebrate it at another restuarant and the CM explained that there are no special b-day things that this restaurant does..soo she sent b-day cards to my resort for both my kids from their favorite characters.

The places that had the B-day festivites and cakes were Chef Mickeys and Crystal Palace.

Also, every park had b-day pins to wear all throughout the park. Actaully, I think MGM and Mk have the same pin, but AK and Epcot have different ones. Get as many as you can, that way everyone on the park can wish him a Happy B-day. When you get the pin the City Hall will make a phone call and put DS on the phone..Goofy is singing Happy Birthday to him..very cool!

Since you are going after us, I will let you know what other things we found for DS to make his 3rd B-day very special!

Good Luck and keep your eyes open, there are a lot of great B-day ideas on this board!

onecoolmama covered pretty much everything, but here is a link to the wdwig birthday ideas page anyway:

Hope your son's b'day at WDW is magical!

We took our daughter in July for her second birthday. We had so much fun. We celebrated for at least three days not just on her birthday. We had lunch one day at The Garden Grill in Epcot. It was a lot of fun! The cake was included with our meal. We took a birthday fireworks cruise. She loved it! The cake was fabulous! When the balloons blew off our boat our captain delivered balloons to our room at a different resort! We had her birthday dinner at the Crystal Palace. The food and service was great; but the Characters (Pooh, Tigger, Eyeore and Piglet) were beyond wonderful. She got to parade around the room with the characters. She got cards signed by all the Characters at both places. It was a lot of fun. Make sure to get a birthday button at the parks. We only did that on her actual birthday. They get special attention.

Make sure you let the resort you are staying know. They decorate your room with balloons and they get a a card from Mickey. Just make sure you remind them what day is the actual birthday!

We also had a gift basket sent to the room and my sister sent her flowers with balloons. We had a gift opening in our room. Didn't want to haul all her gifts everywhere. Most important thing have fun! Pack lots of film and if you have a camcorder make sure who ever is operating it knows how.

Hope this helps.

The firework birthday cruise was wonderful! We celebrated my dd's 3rd birthday and my ? in June. We had a boat full of family and the kids still talk about it regularly. It was worth every penny! The birthday buttons are a must, we were suprised at Pizzafari by choclate cake, birthday cards, and singing. We got calls from goofy will in Epcot. We got to paint birthday trolls at the Princess Storybook breakfast. We had balloons and a card from Mickey and Minnie in our hotel room. The WDW cm's are great, they are always watching for those birthday buttons and make special events a big deal. You would also be suprised how many other guest make a big deal out of birthdays! We are going for New Years and will be celebrating dd's 7th birthday, can't wait! You can also celebrate "unbirthdays" for other children.

Slotwisch is right!!

I called Disney again and I just found out that The Garden Grill the Character sing Happy Birthday to the tune of Old Mcdonald's farm. This is the only one of two restaurants that sings and the only one where the characters sing. So, I book yet another b-day bash while we were there! If you get an oppertunity, I would defiantely celebrate it there too!

I have just celebrated my 37th birthday on sept 10 at disney. In the morning we had a character breakfast with mickey, goofy and chip and dale and i had a birthday cake presented to me by mickey mouse himself while the rest of the characters and 23 members of my family sang happy birthday a great moment from a great holiday.I have booked again to go on my birthday in 2004 i cannot wait.

My daughter celebrated her 28th b'day at WDW in August.

When I faxed in my room request I also mentioned her birthday ... a birthday card and balloons were delivered to the cabin the night we arrived (5 days early), but they'd mixed up the birthday girl ... the card was written to my granddaughter instead of to my daughter, LOL!!!

Cissy was thrilled with the card and mouse shaped balloons. And I got the cutest picture of my daughter holding the baloons and pouting.

On her birthday my daughter got a b-day pin and all day long CMs wished her a Happy Birthday, since she also had a "Guest of Honor" name tag they were saying "Happy B'day Vicky" ... it was a lot of fun!

Glad to be of help Onecoolmama. I learned about the lunch at The Garden Grill when I called to book a fireworks cruise. The very kind woman that took care of me told me all about it. She planned to take her grandchildren there for their birthdays. We weren't planning on eating there; but very glad we did. It was such much fun!

Now that I think of it, maybe I should book it for our trip in December, too. We will be celebrating my mother's birthday and also my father in-laws. Who knows my father's and mother in-laws birthday are in January so we may celebrate theirs early!
