birth control..?

its not that bad really. i was there in january, and the pap smear takes less time than responding to my post did. and it is less uncomfortable than menstrual cramps. its really not something to avoid, just for safety reasons. (even if you don't have an std, maybe you have a yeast infection or something. they can also look to make sure everything appears as normal down there.)

i would advise going, if at all possible.

wanna hear something bananas!?

and i'm aware of how bananas it is (and im currently on the search for a new family dr.) i'm 19, have been on BC for almost 2 years, been sexually active for 2.5 yrs, had a yeast infection, my family dr. is aware of all of this, i went to him for my BC pill, and my yeast infection...and he has NEVER recommended I go see a gyno!!!!
I have NO idea how to go about finding one, so I've never been!!! :scared1:
I WANT to go, but I have NO idea how to even find one in my area!!
I've mentioned it to him, but he's just told me I have no reason to go. :confused3 (methinks he's slightly incompetent)

Wohohoooo. If you don't feel comfortable with a doctor, just go to another one!
Second, you don't have like practices near you? We have a practice in one building that's got PCPs, eye docs, gynos/obs, orthopedists, sleep apnea testing, you name it they got it.

it's not that i don't feel comfortable with him, but i AM looking for a new family dr. it's proven to be REALLY difficult, NO ONE is accepting new patients!!!! ( i even tried the next city over!)
and i have no idea if there are any practices in my city, i'm sure there are, i just don't know where. i go to a private practice dr. and it's not in a medical building so i haven't a cluuuuue.
im keeping my fingers crossed that i can find a new family dr. sooooon

Hospitals usually have gynos. The hospital across the street from me did and thats where I found my first one. She accused me of lying about my being sick so I left though.

How do you feel about birth control for young teens? I'm fifteen, and I had a talk with my mom yesterday about when I should go to the OBGYN, and she told me she'd make me an appointment when my sister goes in May. During the conversation I brought up birth control, I asked her about it and everything. And she told me things I basically already knew, (I was just trying to get her to talk to me about it.) She told me how it regulates your period, which lately mines been crazy bad cramping, and heavy. But good thing is that it usually only last 3-4 days, but those are the worse 4 days of my life it seems. I think that while we was talking about it, she was getting the idea that the reason I wanted it was to 'control birth' so I brought up how I would want it for my period, and not because I'm ready to have sex.. because I'm not. I told her that me and Garrett have talked about it, (im not gonna lie and say we haven't cause it has came up) But we're both fifteen, almost 16, and we're just not ready to commit something that strong in our relationship. So again, how do you feel about teen my age, or a little older using birth control, for the right or wrong reasons?

I'm really torn about this topic

I really would like having my period regulated but I think it might encourage sex

And what if it does encourage sex?

People are going to have sex whether you like it or not. You can say you don't like it, you can say God think it's wrong, but I doubt it's going to stop them from doing it. You don't get to control their life.
I'd rather teens have sex and be protected than have unprotected sex.

You = General you.

*agrees*

Not much else to say other than that :)

That is like saying, you should only teach abstinence in schools because otherwise your encouraging sex. Er, no.

I dont care about sex out of marriage, some people never chose to get married why cant they have sex

I think kids in high school need to think about having sex. Even with birth control you can get pregnant and 99% of high school students are not ready to have kids

with birth control (one method) you have less than a 1% chance of getting pregnant, and condoms even prevent some types of diseases. with two methods (bcp and a condom) the chances of pregnancy decrease to a point that is almost immeasurable.

without birth control, you WILL get the diseases, and your chance of getting pregnant increase up to 95% depending on the ovulation cycle.

> 1%- up to95% chances of getting pregnant
0%-100% chances of getting certain diseases

do you really want to argue those odds?

its perfectly natural to think about sex at the teenager ages. and kids will have sex. they deserve a healthy sex education and they deserve the right to choose birth control.

birth control is safe.

I have friends who use it purely because having their period sucks.
So, I think it's fine.
