birth control..?

I was on bc from age 7-age 12 (aprox).

Now, don't jump all over me. I have health issues that I will not repeat now.

I was on The Shot (Depo-provera). Yeah, ouch.

Kayla, some relaxation techniques might be to sing a favorite song in your head, maybe one that calms you down, or reminds you of Tom. :)

I don't have a problem with it.
My mom was going to make an appointment for my acne and she told me the first thing he'd probably suggest is BC, so...

I'm 16, I'm on the pill for ovarian cysts, accompanied with painful periods and acne.

If you've had your period for a few years (I'm talking 3 or 4 - this was my situation), then it's probably not a bad idea to consider it.

I've had it since eight months before i turned 13. You think it's had enough time to regulate yet?

Mines always been regular. Exactly 28 days in between each one and its always been 7-10 days except when I had ovarian cysts.

It really depends on how old you are now, I guess.
I got my first period when I was 11. I was regular 3 years after that, dropped 15 pounds in a month, skipped that month, and have been irregular ever since. Irregular as in, 26 days one cycle, and 36 days the next.

I've always been regular. From the time I started my first period, to the time I got my first period after chemo. It's been a little odd lately (starting 2 or 3 days earlier than planned, and then 2 or 3 days shorter than previously) but I'm fine.

I think I might have to go to the gyno soon for something else and I'm TOTALLY freaked out about it.

A while back I was thinking about getting BC because my periods were so irregular and would last for 10-13 days. It was awful. The cramps had me incapacitated many many times & basically, you just don't want to feel that icky for 13 days every month. But I chickened out of the gyno appointment, and my period became a bit more regular. There wasn't a specific amount of days between them, but at least I was getting one every month that lasted for about 7 days.

For some reason now, I haven't had my period in almost 2 months. I've had cramps and have been PMSing, like I was going to start my period. & it never came.

I'll get it a while before I start to get worried since I've usually been a bit irregular. Besides, I'm enjoying my time without old Flo.

I've been on birth control for a year and a half now. I am not sexually active at all and am on it because of being so irregular and hormonal...It was pretty much crazy. And I had cramps so bad that i'd miss school alot....

SO i'm all for teens being on the pill or the shot or whatever. My mom wants me to switch to the shot because its cheaper and works on hormones more apparently. But i want to stick with the pill that way i know when its coming and i can skip it if i want.

I've had it since I was about 13. Definitely for menstrual reasons. I was really light all of my grade seven year, and didn't have my period for like 4 months. And then it was light again, and then WHABAM, it was like 'I think I'm bleeding so much I may die' heavy, and it stayed that way every time I had it. I didn't feel like I could sit all day at school.
So I got the pill. It hasn't helped too much for the amount of time I've had it, my periods are still fairly heavy, but for less amount of time.
Lately I have been using it continuously. While I feel like it's a bad idea to do that, I've looked it up numerous times and they say the side effects and risks are no different than taking it regularly.
The only thing about taking it continuously, is eventually you have to take a break because it stops working and you're spotting so much you might as well be on your period.
I use it so I don't have to deal with my period. Eventually, I will be taking it properly for other reasons. I'm hoping Seasonale is passed through the system, and I can switch to it because it's actually supposed to be taken continuously.

I was told by my last OBGYN that if you aren't sexually active and your periods are regular, you don't need to be seen until you turn 21. :)

I had my first papsmear last week and it was ok. A bit uncomfortable, but I got thru it. My doctor was a woman, which helped. She was so reassuring.

i had my first papsmear in january. i had a bad yeast infection taht i was unaware of, so it hurt me a little bit, but nothing too bad. i was a little sore the rest of the day. but it was less severe than menstrual cramps.

and the time it takes for them to do the papsmear is less time than it took you to read this post. :)

I had a papsmear last year when I was 13. I was sick and nobody knew why, so they were just covering everything and decided to go ahead and do a papsmear while they where down there.

Never had birth control but I want it in the future for my period.

I just don't wanna gain more weight than I already have :scared:

My period is usually pretty regular...I mean sometimes I hate it a lot because I'll have it like right at the end of a month and then have it at the beginning of the next month -_-. I'm a bit nervous as to when it will come this month though....it was supposed to come in like the first or second week of February and it hasn't come yet....

I think it is a good idea to get birth control when you're younger. And I'm happy that you are getting it for a good reason and not because you want to have sex.

I'm 18, and I started BC when I was 17. Not because I sleep around, but because it's supposed to help with acne and make your periods lighter and less crampy. I donno....

I was on the pill to regulate my hormones. My periods were lasting 10-14 days and were really heavy. I also had ovarian cysts. So the doctors put me on birth control but I only stayed on it for a few months. I didnt use it to prevent pregnancy, for one thing I'm not going to have sex before marriage. Thats not really the point though. It worked great for me and even though I'm not on it right now, my periods are only 7-10 days long.

I would much rather a teen be on birth control than be pregnant though.

i have to take these pills 2. i see no problem with doing it to regulate ur period, but if ur taking them to protect urself during sex i think it is wrong. my periods were very irregular and since ive been taking these pills they are a million xs better.

I'm sorry, I may have just read it wrong.. but isn't the whole reason for birth control is to 'control birth'. It's just a plus that it helps with your period. I am only fifteen, and don't plan on having sex for a while..but if that time comes sooner I'm glad to know that I am protected. I don't think it's wrong for teens to use birth control for its regular purpose. It's a whole lot better than having a bunch of 15/16 year old's with children. I just hope they're not using it to stop from getting pregnant from 15 different guys. It's smart to use it, if you've been with the same person for a while, and you really feel that they are the one. Thats just my opinion.
