Ladies...how long after going off the pill did you get pregnant? And what was your age? I'm 37.

Thanks for any input. :goodvibes

Right away. I was 23 and 25 and two miscarriages.

I have never done it but my friend got off BC and immediatly got pregnant. She didn't even have one period.

Edit: She was 24 at the time by the way

It took me 5 LOOOOOONG months to get pregnant. I was expecting to get pregnant like...boom!....but that didn't happen. It took a while for my cycle to get worked out and I could tell when it did get worked out.:)

ETA: I am 30

I was 27 and off the pill for 1 month. I had my little girl this past Dec.:goodvibes

It hasn't happened yet. I've been off bcp for almost a year but we didn't start ttc until about 6 months ago.

eta: I'm 26.

I came off the pill in June and my MD said to wait 3-4 months (use other means of birth control) and then try. We did just that and and I was pregnant by October, DS was born in June.

And today that DS is 24yo!!!

We had our DS when my wife was 34 after about 3/4 years she came off the pill to try for another she had DD when she was 40.

I think it was either the first or second month after going off the pill for our first (I was 20) and it took a bit longer the second time. I think 5 months (I was 23). I remember getting nervous that something was wrong with me that I didn't get pregnant right away the second time. Now I hear of women struggling for years to concieve and it breaks my heart. Good luck to you!

9 months with the first, I was 29 and only 2 months with the second, I was 32.

Cynde

I got off the pill in June, but used other birth control until September. Then I got pregnant in November.

By one Dr. I was told to wait one month. I later found out that you need to wait until you have a normal cycle flow, which takes a different amount of time for everyone. A normal cycle flow signifies that your lining has thickened and will be strong enough to handle a pregnancy.

I think it was a couple months before DD#1. I miscarried trying for #2, that is when I found out that one month wasn't long enough for me. Finally I waited as the Dr said and within 2 months I was carrying DD#2.

I think it will vary woman to woman and your individual fertility...but with my first..I was mid-20s. After "finishing" the pill...and with the "whatever happens happens" method...we conceived in about 3 months.

I actually asked my Dr. about this last week. She said women used to be told to wait 3 months after coming off the pill before trying to conceive because otherwise it would be hard to accurately predict a due date. However, she says that's totally unnecessary now with today's ultrasounds.

With DS (#1)- 10 months I was 25
With DD (#2)- 6 months I was 28
With DD (#3)- 2 months I was 33

They all varied with us.

I went off the pill in January, used other means until May, tried three cycles and conceived Russ on the third try - I was almost 25.

My sister apparently didn't hear the whole "used other means" and thought it took seven months to conceive, so she went off the pill expecting it to take a couple of tries. She conceived first try at age 27.
