At the risk of calling anyone old- my mom's birth certificate just came in the mail from the state of NE and it looks very unprofessional.....(typos crossed out by xxx's on typewriter, handwritten added letters to the typed name). It does have the raised stamp and came directly from the state....does anyone think she'll need anything else or is this how all 57 year old birth certificates looked before computors.......

Just in Nebraska. Its hard for the cows to strike just one key on the typewriter. :sunny:

I knew I would get some kind of Ne remark ...and it's just my mom that's from there:teeth: I'm sure you already read where we live now......don't want to hear any AL jokes....(AL didn't mess up the Birth certificates!!:hyper: )

Hmmm...I don't know about your mom's with all the xxx and changes. I'd maybe take it in some place and have them check it out....to see if they think there could be some sort of problem with it....maybe take it into your local passport office. Their the only ones I can think of at this time...that would have to have an official bc...so they may be able to let you know if there would/could be a potential for problems.

On a diffrent note we took our daughters in to our local passport office (to get passports) a few weeks ago...they nociced a problem with hers (miss spelled my name), we had to go back and get it fixed with the State birth records. I also wanted to add that mine, hubbies, dd's 6 & 11 and my mothers....all look close to the same...DH is a little diffrent and so is my mothers..both were issued from diffrent states. So I don't think it has much to do with age..but I suppose it could.

You could also call DCL and ask them. If you orderd a certified copy..and it has the seal...it should be good.

Good luck. :teeth:

We just got passports, and my birth certificate, though only 30 years old is a mess. The lady had to seal it up in a bag for fear it would disintigrate. You can hardly read any of the writing as it was printed on metalic paper and all the writing has worn off. I had no problems using the same passport 2 years ago on my DCL cruise. The funny thing is my parents who were born in the same state as I was have their original birth certificates and they are in better shape than mine and my sisters original birth certificates.
