This might be a silly question, but will I have any problems boarding with a birth certificate showing my maiden name? or will my driver's license (married name) with DOB be adequate proof? thanks.::MinnieMo

You will not have a problem. No one would expect a married name be on your bc!
Enjoy!:sunny:

I would think they'd match the DOB on both items and as long as they match, you'd be ok.

I travel under my maiden name but have both on my DL. That way I'm covered all ways - next time you get your DL renewed you could put your maiden name on it instead of your middle name (just an idea!)

This comes up occasionally. I think the official line is that they match your dob, and your first name to verify. I have always thrown in my marriage license, just to be safe.

A large majority of cruise lines now REQUIRE a marriage certificate for thoses clients traveling w/out a passport whose names on thier birth certificates do not match that on their drivers license (ie. married woman).

Disney is the exception (for the time being) in that they do not require a marriage certificate. That is subject to change so I would definitley keep checking back. Or if you are already booked they should send you the update.

My advice to everyone if you are cruising and will continue to travel in the future is that you get a passport. In the future that will be a rREQUIREMENT for anyone traveling out of the country including the Caribbean and Canada. How close in the future is uncertain.

We have always carried our marriage certificate since my wife's last name is different. It is just one small piece of paper that we always keep with our birth certificate. Just in case there are any questions we would rather be safe.

Given travel is getting harder and we do travel to Canada, Mexico, or the Carribean at least once a year, we will probably just get passports to simplify travel. Once we get one will are set for 10 years so the cost is not too bad when averaged over the 10 years.

Get a passport. It is easy, relatively inexpensive and so much easier! And it's good for 10 years!! Valid longer than some marriages!! princess:

I book ALL different cruise lines, have for 20 years and I've yet to see a cruise line require to see your marriage certificate!! Maybe someday.

I have a question about bc and I know somebody on here could help me. I just took a look at my husbands bc. ( I know a little late)but the raised seal is barely raised anymore. I feel it a little but not to much. Will Disney be extremely picky on how raised the seal is?

As mentioned above, a Passport solves the problem. Everyone should have one, yes kids too. Mine have had their's since they were 2.
As for the raised seal, as long as part of it is still there, it should be fine....however, again, a Passport ends that problem.

Does that sound a little crazy to anyone but me???? I mean the thing about your name not matching on your birth certificate? Do they NOT EXPECT that a woman who is married would have a different name as when she was born????

To add to that when we got our cruise documents for October my FIRST NAME was missspelled. I called first DVC they sent me to the Cruise Line and I had to change the spelling on each page of my documents they made not of it and everything was fine that way.

By the way, the cruise lines requiring your marriage certificate is very new and just started w/in the last 2 months or so.

I have documents on my desk right now for RCCL and NCL and neither have anything about needing a marriage certificate in them.

May of 2003, when we took a Carnival cruise they requested ML if your name differed from BC

Just checked w/ both RCCL and NCL and both require a MC when not using a passport and their married name is different.

But again, I was due to travel with DCL in September and checked with them prior to departure. They did not require the MC.

Crazy! They are telling me otherwise but hey, I can call 3 people and get 3 different answers in any given day!::yes::
If you can afford a passport and have the time to get it, I guess that would solve your problems!:wave2:

My sister had heard we may need to bring MLs with us when we sailed NCL about 2 months ago. We called to check and were told yes they are needed. We brought them and no one ever asked for them.

That does not surprise me at all! Last time I flew, the girl checking me in did not even look at my photo ID!!!:scared:

My original birth certificate had to be amended because dob was off by one day. When I got my children's birth certificates I requested a copy of mine to have an extra "just in case." The dob is wrong and does NOT show the amendment. On my last disney cruise the agent "caught" this and thankfully I had the old worn out original from 1963. Guess I need to talk to the state of Texas! I think we had been on 5 or 6 cruises before someone noticed. It's right on social security and IRS documents so not sure what it matters.
