Are the seagulls really a problem in the parks when your eating something? Will they swoop down a take your food right out of your hand? I'am scared to death of birds flying around my head and the swooping. I would have a heart a tack if this happened to me. Never fails whenever I'm at the lake or beach I always get by the family that thinks its so much fun to feed the darn monsters!!! :( :( :(

I ahve never had a problem with the birds myself, but I have seen them pick food out of somebody's hand once.

Well, I did have a "close encounter" with a seagull at MK in January this year. My friend and I were walking on the wooden footbridge in Frontierland. We were eating peanut butter crackers. A seagull swooped right at me and thumped me on the head. I about jumped a mile, and people started exclaiming about the pushy seagulls around there. One lady said that one had swooped down at her head too, but it left a lovely deposit behind. Thankfully I didn't get the lovely deposit on my head too!

2 years ago at MK, we saw a seagull swoop down when people were eating their lunches outside. It carried away a french fry. On that same trip, we had dessert at Olivia's over at OKW. The waitress encouraged us to eat indoors (we requested outdoors), because they had terrible trouble that day with seagulls landing right on people's tables, pecking at their plates, etc. We decided to chance it anyway and eat outside. Fortunately we had no trouble.

Interestingly enough, I can't recall seeing or hearing about seagulls swooping down at people in Epcot, MGM, or AK. Maybe it does happen there too, but I've only seen and experienced it at MK myself.

The birds can be aggressive at the Boardwalk area. They have signs up warning people of this but I have seen people still try to feed them and be swarmed with birds.

In Norway (WS) you may hear a bird screeching. That is actually a recording of a bird to scare the little beggers away.
The worse I probably have seen aggressive birds in an eating area is at Starring Roles in MGM. But they weren't even really that bad. Just brave little suckers.
Can't help myself. I always have to throw something in the shrubs for them to eat.

Awwww, all of the hungry little birdies. They are almost as pretty and precious as my little darlings at home! Oh, I'm sorry, is this an uncommon opinion?

When we were there in Feb., the seagulls were a huge problem in the area around Pesco Bill's - there was no way I was going to sit outside eating! I did get thumped in the head by a swooping bird at one stage  even though I didn't have any food on me.

And I HATE big birds!!!!!

I don't see the birds as a problem as long as people around you don't feed them. Once you start feeding the birds, word gets around and other birds flock by you. That's a problem! That ruins the dining experience for everyone around you. As much as you would like to feed the birds, you have to be considerate of the other people around you. It's just the courtious thing to do.
ADP :D

At Polly's dockside in there is a "gum machine" that sells food for the birds. That is the only spot that we have had trouble with birds (small black ones with pointy beaks). One bit my daughter, (well, I guess the more appropriate term would be "pecked"). I was more freaked out than she was, probably from watching Hitchcock's "The Birds" when I was a kid!!!

You have to read the trip reports by joedisney. One of the reports is about an attack of the birds. It is the funniest thing I have ever read!

My husband and I were eating at the out door area of the Grand Floridian and he picked up a French Fry and started it toward his mouth when a bird (not a seagull) swooped down and took the french fry right out of his had. We had not been previously feeding them and as far as I know noone around us was.

I have never had a bird eat off my table but have seen it happen to other people.

I had a squirrel at the take-out fish stand in Epcot not only eat out of my hand, He jumped on my lap and sat on the table with me.
My wife was not as impressted as I was.
The children sitting next to us loved it.

The hot dog cart in Frontierland has a lot of aggressive seagulls, crows and other birds waiting for lunch. The worst part of it was their droppings on people and their food. It was pretty nasty.

I did see a seagull take a hot dog away from a child or more than one occasion.

Feed the birds, tuppence a bag,
Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag...

I found them to be somewhat aggressive at The American Adventure...
