Birds at GF

Last year while taking my daughter to and from the Pirate Cruise at the GF I was amazed at the amount of birds flying and swooping and flocking all around the resort. As we were finally leaving I remember telling my husband I never wanted to stay there no matter how beautiful. I was worried the whole time I was going to get a little "present" dropped right on me. I cant even imagine trying to eat outside anywhere.
So tell me all of you who have stayed there, is it really that bad? We have friends thinking of staying there, and I was just wondering if maybe I was overeacting because I am not a big fan of birds....but there were just so many...everywhere.

Had a much more serious problem at EPCOT near the American Pavillion with swooping, diving, scary, food-stealing birds. Never even really noticed them at GF.

On both of my stays at the GF, I remember the birds. On my honeymoon in June 2000, I did eat outside, but at night. During the day the birds are around. I am NOT a fan of birds at all and it really bothered me. They're there mostly because a lot of the guests did not obey the signs that said "Do Not Feed The Birds." SO you can see why they flock there.

However, I would NOT use that as a reason to not stay at the GF. I was never pooped on, and I usually am the one that does get pooped on. In fact, on my first date with my now husband, a seagull pooped on my head while we were walking on the boardwalk in NJ. And I'm the short one! 5'0" tall........my husband in 6'1". Go figure!

So don't discourage your friends to stay there. It is truly a magnificent, magical resort, even with the birds!!!!!!

When we stayed there, they were that bad, but I agree, they were that bad in Epcot & MK also. We had a beautiful room with a balcony at GF, but every time we opened the balcony door, they came swooping down. Their droppings were everywhere. My friend wouldn't believe me, so I brought her up to the room and had her open the door. She screamed and slammed it shut, she swore they were going to fly in the room.

That being said, the birds wouldn't keep me from staying there again. Like I mentioned, they seemed to be everywhere. How could you blame them, with so much opportunity for food.

This will be our third trip to the GF and until you mentioned it, I never knew birds were a problem. I guess we just get so wrapped up in the magic of everything else that the birds never seemed to bother us.

Tom...:D

Honestly, I've stayed there many, many times and while yes, there are a fair amount of birds flying around, I've never had a *present* from any of them!
