We're headed to the Biltmore for a weekend away. I'm getting emails to "plus" our trip. I got this one yesterday:

As you ride aboard a comfortable temperature-controlled estate shuttle, Biltmore’s agricultural experts will share the history of our working farm’s agricultural operations, as well as the innovative farming practices in use today. This experience—the only tour that offers guest access to the estate’s pastoral West Side—includes “behind-the-scenes” looks at the estate’s Black Angus beef cattle and Berkshire hog facilities, hydroponic greenhouses, and picturesque vineyards.

After hearing how we continue to fulfill George Vanderbilt’s original vision of Biltmore as a self-sustaining estate, you’ll enjoy a relaxing respite catered by our culinary team. Here you’ll savor a glass of handcrafted Biltmore Wine and taste estate-grown artisanal lettuces, and other estate-curated small bites. Biltmore bottled water is provided.
  • When - 1:00 p.m. Wednesdays & Fridays. Limited availability.
  • Duration - 120 minutes.
  • Cost - $175 per person plus tax. $157.50 per person plus tax for Biltmore Annual Passholders.
$175 per person for a 2 hour van tour, a glass of wine, and some artisanal lettuces??? Are they nuts?!? It makes Disney's Keys to the Kingdom Tour look like a bargain!

I would compare that to the many of the 'behind-the-scenes' tours Disney offers as well. Many of those are also rather pricey.

Might explain why it made this not so good list:

The ‘most disappointing’ tourist attraction nationwide is in Florida. Do you agree?

The link for that survey doesn't work. With ANY survey, I always want to know their methodology and how many people they asked. HOW survey questions are worded can make a BIG difference in the results. Some surveys seemed designed to support a position that particular publication already had and they just wanted 'data' to support their views.

I would imagine some people going to the Kennedy Space Center aren't interested in science or rockets. But seems like with a bit of research you could figure that out BEFORE going there and do something else instead.

We went to Ashville last summer and decided to skip Builtmore on our Blue Ridge Parkway trip.
The to stay there and tour were crazy!

Biltmore is a decent tour, but it is very over priced for what it is and any extra tours are crazy expensive. We rented bikes when we went and that was reasonable and the trails beautiful.

That is an insane amount for their tour! My teenage daughter and I were underwhelmed by by Biltmore when we visited last year. However, we enjoyed the Kennedy Space Center. There was a lot more to see there than when I visited 30 years ago. I was surprised to see them topping the list. I thought the Grand Canyon South Rim should have been at the top. I hated it it both times I have visited. So many other national parks are much more scenic than that one.

Christmas admission for Biltmore starts at $110. I’ve never been. Maybe it’s worth it, but I’m not super motivated to go at that price. (It’s only 2.5 hours from where I’m at.)

I just bought 4 tickets for an adult trip to Biltmore next month.

4 Adults, 1 day House ticket with audio guide. 2 Day Grounds ticket.

1 Extra tour, for 4: Backstairs Tour. I've done this tour and it's great.

Chihuly Exhibit for 4.

Total came to $661 with tax incl.

I don't think $165 each is heinous.

We purchased the length of stay passes for $85.00 pp. It was cheaper than the single day entry of $95.00. We also decided to stay on property. We looked a places in Asheville and considered a B&B, and just liked the Village Hotel best.

We've seen Chihuly glass in various places, and his pieces are stunning! We just didn't want to spend extra for the exhibit. We may rent bikes depending on how warm it is. We'll have a rental car, so we can just go for a drive as well.

Assuming it's this - https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/ne...n-the-us-according-to-a-new-study/ar-BB1pKVar

It wasn't a survey (at least not one in which they asked people questions) - the scanned through reviews (Trip Advisor and Google) and seemed to look at the % of 1-3 star reviews. Though it also says that they "paid attention to low-star reviews that referenced disappointment, bad experience, and unenjoyable" but the article didn't detail what this really means (did they weight reviews higher if they used these words?).
