I would like to get some information on the bike trails @ FW. Any information would be helpful. I can't seem to find anything that gives specific details.

We are more interested in paved trails that can be handled reasonably easy. Are there any like this?

How long are the trails?

Thanks! :flower:

We usually just ride from the campground to Wilderness Lodge. It is about a mile trip one way. Other than the sidewalks and loops, I'm not sure about any other bike trails.

Check out This link to the map Tim has on his FW FAQ site. The smaller trails you see along side the main roads are sidewalks and some cart paths that are paved and easily navigated on bikes. There are some other packed dirt paths down by the lake that are also not too hard to ride. All in all I would say there are maybe 3-4 miles of paths plus all the camping and cabin loops that can be ridden. FW is a great place to ride a bike.

BUT, IF you are a road biker and want to leave the FW area, it is a no go......
there are no bike lanes out of the property to the county roads....
wanted to get to goodings to do some shopping and such, but it was a no go.......and if you do get on their no bike lane roads,
Hear the men in blue with ears on their pockets and dark sun glasses will scoop you up from their roads and put you in the van back to the Fort......
and brain wash you that it never happened.......has ANYONE made a bike trip out of the fort....I would like to know?.............

I second the ride to Wilderness Lodge ... we ride there for breakfast.

We love that ride, very beautiful and peacefull.

Not sure of any specific bike trails other than that.

Not sure what kind of riding you want to do....

The roads at Fort Wilderness and the trail going to Wilderness Lodge are great for recreational riding with family and friends. However, forget about any serious riding, there is no where to go fast or far. Traffic outside the fort just is not looking for cyclists.
