Biggest park peeves?

I wasn't speaking of people who were just sitting waiting but people who were waiting for their food to arrive. Shrug...we will agree to disagree on this one. I would never sit at a table just to hang out and rest and force a person with food to sit on the ground but I am also see nothing wrong with sitting with my children while my husband grabs food as long as there are other tables available. Actually when a restaurant is super crowded we often either find a wall or bench to sit at and one grabs the food or we just grab a quick snack and go back later. Not worth the hassle.
FTR, I don't have a problem with the "divide and conquer" method either as long as there are plenty of other tables available for folks with trays of food. My issue is when someone grabs a table and ends up holding it twice as long as it takes to eat because ...

There is just no way im going to risk walking around with 7 meals and no place to sit.

... thereby creating the problem for others that she wishes to avoid for her own special family.

Really?? That would be fantastic!

I have never seen one in a regular queue. I've never seen a wheelchair or stroller in one either. I assumed they made you get on at an accessible entrance.

Do they allow scooters in The Land building at Epcot? I know you can't bring strollers in but never paid any attention to if there were scooters or not. I would imagine they would have to let wheelchairs come in and I know they have an elevator. I got my toe broke in it ...

The FAQ in the DisAbilities forum has a lot of good info. #11 in particular is helpful for individual attractions: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=21014707&postcount=11

ECV's are absolutely allowed in the Land. The catch is, there's only one elevator and the line for it can get pretty long.

Ah well I agree to disagree. I leave a CS if there are no spots available for us prior to ordering. If the CS lines to order are too long then we leave and go somewhere else. We rarely spend more than 30 minutes total in any CS.

I get that it annoys people, but I'd love to know what a large family is supposed to do when you only have 2 adults and most of the kids aren't able to carry their own food? Not just at WDW, but in our normal lives as well, most restaurants where we need to seat ourselves there are very few tables large enough for our whole family, so if we see one, we grab it. If you or someone else can tell me how a large family is supposed to get food, for everyone, and herd the kids through the crowd looking for a table, while carrying 6+ trays of food, I'd love to know how. Until then, we'll keep doing what we do.

Oh, and once me and my friends were trying to find a parade spot, and there was this big group of young people/teens, that sat spread with really big gaps between them. We asked politely if they could gather up a little bit so we could stand behind them. There was no way they were going to move, because they wanted some space around them

In some respects I can't really blame them. DH & I were waiting for a parade a few years ago and a lady and her little girl asked if we could get closer together so she & the girl could stand next to us. I figured she had been polite in asking so I said sure. Next thing I know they are putting down a blanket and she is on the phone calling her sister to bring her neice down since they had found a nice spot. Next thing I know I have 2 moms and 2 kids eating icecream next to me and one of the kids is wiping icecream on my legs and bumping me constantly. I tried to tell the moms but they were too busy talking & ignored me. I hadn't had much sleep the night before & was getting woozy and almost fell on top of the kids. Would have served the all right. Never again!

I'm confused. If your kids are too small to carry their own trays aren't they too small to be left alone at your table while you help your husband with the trays? How does he get the food to you?

I agree with Robinb. I don't get this either. If the kids are too young to carry a tray, they're too young to be left unattended at a table. If you have any school aged children, unless they are physically handicapped, they are big enough to stand in line and carry a tray.
And why do you need 6+ trays? Just how many people are in your family? 6 trays are enough to carry meals for a dozen people! Fortunately, during crowded periods, Disney has now taken choice out of the equation. You just CAN'T usurp empty tables unless you have trays in hand at designated restaurants. And I'm very glad that they have instituted this on days with high crowd levels. They've already proved that their method is more efficient.

If they are kids meals you can fit 3 on a tray. ;) been there! Adults, 2.

I get it that it is hard to travel with little kids. If they can't deal with standing in the food lines then travel during the slow season. No one cares in January if you squat. :)

this would be me. in 2010 my whole family went to the world and my one son age 25 at the time was in a scooter. lines were long but we got to get on the bus first yes my entire family. getting on the buses listening to the hoots and hollars
why dont we get in the line and wait like everyone else
my 25 year old son got hurt in iraq a fews ago and will never be able to stand in that line ever again. i would trade places with any of those peoeple if by only a word
why cant i stay with my family because one is in a wheelchair

Thank your son for me for his Service. I am so sorry he came back disabled. Our DS-in-law served in Iraq, too, but came back with just a few minor problems with his back from carrying all the heavy equipment. When I see people in wheelchairs I always think of the saying "There, but for the Grace of God, go I". When he went to WDW with us, he SAT on the bus because at 6'4" with the bad back he didn't balance well on a moving bus & could have fallen on someone & hurt them & himself. We waited for the next bus to make sure he had a seat. Of course there were others, who felt he should have given up his seat to someone else.

To other posters, don't judge other people. You never know everything about them and some day it may be you who is being judged.

Picture it: I am at the Fish & Chips place in England (the Epcot England, that is). I have 3 kids with me and 2 trays full of food. There are no free tables, but 3 of them are occupied by people without food - Two have people waiting in the absurdly long line getting food for them, and one has people who have finished eating, but are hanging around chatting. So we sat cross legged on the ground (next to one of the foodless tables) and ate picnic-style.

We finished eating before any of them came with food.

That's why it's wrong.

Me too, haha! Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are all part of the UK too! :-)

That reminds me- the stereotypical shops in the UK Pavilion which really don't represent the UK very realistically.

And also the fact that the Rose and Crown claims to serve British food, when it is infact American food that could never be called British food in the first place. I really think the chefs need to take a trip to Britain and learn that mashed potato does not have bacon in and vegetarian shepherds pie is not processed. Or buy a proper British recipe book. ;) The food there doesn't need to be dumbed down or changed because it should be British as it is advertised. :)

However, our experience at the Rose and Crown has given us doubts about how authentic the food is in Italy, or Morocco or Norway.

I am sure most would love to but are tied to the school schedule.

Probably people who ignore the fact that their kid is carrying on and screaming at the top of their lungs while in lines, on the bus etc.

Ignoring bad behavior works well with some toddlers. My son milks it when he wants something and I keep asking him to stop. I ignore him, the tantrum
Is over quicker.

My pet peeve about the UK pavilion is that the toilets (or restrooms!!) are not very realistic. They are far too clean to be representative of those found here!

Lol true

My biggest park peeve is that most of the bathrooms have only one changing table. AND, every time my toddler has had a poop explosion threatening to ruin her last clean outfit of the day, that table is occupied by a mom who feels the need to turn diaper changing into a game of peekaboo and cuddles.. Seriously?! There's 5 of us waiting in line to change stinkers, get your kid swaddled back up and off the dang table so the rest of us can process through the assembly line.

I've seen mom's take 5+ minutes to change a pee'd diaper. Really?! That's a 15 second job woman, move it along. You can cuddle precious darling back out on one of the benches, you know, away from the stench of 20 poops..

Yeah, that's really my only major pet peeve.. lol

Lmao with two under two it is only a 15 sec job. Had this issue so much.

LOL, very true. Toilets here in the UK never have toilet paper at best, soap at worst, or are totally disgusting.

I can't stand it when people take chairs away, leaving none around tables. We were in Electric Umbrella with our food, found a table, but only one chair for three people. Next to us was a table with five chairs but three kids waiting. Sorry, but we had food, we needed the chairs more.

Also people who leave restrooms in a mess. How hard is it to wipe up after yourself?

Being first in the line for a bus, waiting 10+ mins., and then having a large family accompanying a person on a wheelchair/scooter and them taking up the entire bus. That happened 3 times our last visit, we were front of the line each time and had to wait because of a big crowd with one wheelchair rider amongst them that took the entire bus. I really think they should limit the amount of people that can go on along side the scooter rider. Its ridiculous to let an entire family cut in front of the line because one member is in a wheelchair. We missed a few other buses because they load all the scooter people first even if they just arrived and we had been standing and waiting. They really need to put some rules on that and be equally fair to everyone. Having mobility issues shouldn't give you permission to bypass a line.

:thumbsup2
However I don't mind someone with a handicap bypassing the line-one little perk when you deal with so much but I do mind 8 people coming along and people who are injured (like a broken leg) as opposed to handicaps being treated the same.
