Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer Challenge

QOTD Monday: If WDW is known for something, it's gift shops! Epcot is one of the best place to shop besides DTD. With all the different culture's stores and Mousegears, there are plenty of different things to buy. Some people consider shopping a workout, which got me thinking: How do you define exercise/workouts? What is the least amount of work you have to do before you consider it a real workout?

I only "count" it if it is a real "intentional" workout.... running, spinning, walking, weights, etc. That said, I don't ALWAYS do it in one solid segment. Sometimes during a busy day, I might just throw in 5 minutes here and there of stairs or squats (like when I am waiting for the toaster or something like that). I count all of the minutes together and usually try to hit at least 20, even on crazy busy days, but lately I haven't been doing well with that.

I'm hungry. I need a good mid-morning snack.
Any ideas?

Well... better late than never, but here goes. I don't usually eat an a.m. snack (unless I'm at school), but if/when I do I usually go with fruit and/or cheese (handful of grapes and a babybel light or a light string cheese, blueberries or pineapple and cottage cheese go well too), or veggies and hummus (carrot/celery sticks and grape tomatoes), or sometimes just a few nuts (too many calories to have a full serving!). Throw in a cup of green tea, coffee, or a glass of water.

If you are REALLY craving carbs, how about a Vitamuffin (for something sweet), or a Bagel thin??

Lab results are in, FINALLY!!!

We were driving home from running errands and Alan's cell went off. I about jumped out of the car I was so excited, LOL

2 hour glucose test was high, 175 but won't have to redo it. Cholesterol was high (205). DHEA was elevated 535, should be under 250. She said more then likely I'll get put on Metformin for my insulin levels and another med to lower my DHEA levels. I can follow up with them after my hematologist apt, which I still need to make. Told me I could start my Provera. Alan's "lil buddy" count was 80 million, not 80 thousand like he told me.

Starting Provera in the morning. Thoughts and good luck vibes please. The last time I took 10mg of Provera it made me sicker then a dog.

Sounds like you are ready to start that factory!

Huge congrats to 6ofus2 and ALL our BL!!

Now a little news. We are going to Vegas, baby! 4 nights in August. I am really excited but nervous about maintaining while there. I have no illusions that I will lose weight that week but I will NOT gain any!

My food plan is to bring Nutrasystem food and healthy snacks for the plane, breakfast everyday, (and I love breakfast foods so I really cant let myself deviate on this one otherwise I will go crazy) lunch bars, protein shakes and snacks that will travel like almonds. I know we will be eating out every meal but this way I can skip breakfast in a restaurant, order just a salad for lunch and healthier options like fish and veggies for dinner. If I can find one I can also have a veggie sub at Subway for about 300 calories including avocado. I am going to go buy a self-filtering water bottle so I will always have water. I will limit my alcohol also.

For exercise there is a fitness room but I will have to pay for it. It is $40 for a 5 day pass and I'll have to put it out because I will need to do cardio everyday and that will be the only place to do it. I will bring my resistance bands with me as well. As a treat I will upgrade to the fitness/spa pass so it will be $85 total and I can go soak in the hot tub after. :cloud9:
There is also all the walking we will be doing up and down the strip. Now that I think about it I should get a pedometer. Any opinions on a good but decent priced one?

I had a decent and inexpensive pedometer that I bought at either Target or Walmart that I took to Disney last year. Can't remember the brand.... I'll go find it and let you know later.

We are also going to Houston for 5 days July 4th weekend but that is much easier. We will be at DBil's house so I will have access to a full kitchen, a car to go to the grocery store or I can even bring things in a cooler since it is only a 2 1/2 hour drive and we can go running in his neighborhood. I'm sure we will eat out but I can plan that better than in Vegas. I allow myself one "cheat" meal a week so I will work those in for both trips.

And the best part. All my old cute clothes should fit me now! I think I am going to go try some on now!

WOW! Enjoy both trips!!

Way to go everyone!!!!
Woohoo, top 5! I was also hoping for a top 10 finish. Let's hope for a repeat!

CONGRATS my friend!!

WOW! Never thought I'd be number 2! Pretty exciting stuff for me, I must say! Thanks to all of you that are such a huge (virtual!) support to me - it's really made a difference in my habits - so thank you for that! And, a HUGE thank you to all of you loves that are working so hard behind the curtain to keep everything on track!

Great job!!

Probably! The dog always wants to play & my cat is a lazy boy. He doesn't ever want to play. Come to think of it, I think I stressed him when we went to wdw in May. We were gone 3 full days and a 1/2 day and left him home alone. He has a doggy door to go in and out of, but I'm sure he wasn't happy. He goes to grandma's (my mom) Friday for a week while we are at the beach. He loves it there, so maybe he'll forgive us!

We usually leave our cat home alone when we vacation. We used to have someone come in and feed her... and if it will be more than 6 days we try to have some pop in once or twice, but we are always afraid that the pet sitter will let her out by accident. She seems to manage the 3-6 days okay, but I'm sure she wouldn't be happy with us if she were alone much longer. We leave a gravity feeder full of dry food (has to live without her daily wet food treat... oh well), plus a few LARGE bowls of water. Tried a gravity waterer, but a previous cat made a mess with it (probably playing in it), so we gave up on that. We leave the basement door open for litter box access plus if it gets hot in the house, the basement is cooler. And I try to leave an upstairs window open so she can sit in the windowsill during the evening and catch the cool breeze.

So far we haven't dealt with many problems with leaving any of our cats alone (we did have one who didn't like the pet sitter coming in and would revolt by pulling all of the paper towels into the kitchen sink and peeing on it  She did better just being left alone!) Anyhow, glad your cat is going to visit his Grammy!!!:rotfl:

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well. I am keeping quite busy trying to get ready to leave for vaycay Saturday and get things organized because we are trying to refinance. I started making menus for our beach vacation. We plan on cooking at the condo every night but one. That night we'll hit a local seafood restaurant. I will not be on plan that day. I'm a sucker for good southern hush puppies and sweet tea!

I am hoping to keep up with my running plan while at the beach. Last year I ran, but we are in a different area & I don't know if there's sidewalks where we are staying. If not, I guess I'll run on the beach...nice & early before the heat & humidity kill me!!

I'm going to catch up on some shows I dvr'd and keep working on my grocery list amongst all the other lists I have going on! Ttyl!

Jill

Enjoy your vacation time if I don't "see" you before you leave!

I was little suzy home maker again today. Well half haha. I was literally so exhausted from working SO MANY hours this week, with no change on the horizon, that i slept away most of the morning on the couch. But it wasn't really restful as i kept telling myself that i needed to get up and do things! My plan this week is to spend about an hour a day cleaning, meal planning, and getting things ready for the next day, and 30 min a day running so when i finally get another day off a week from today, i really can spend it doing nothing!

I'm really kicking it into gear because the scale is not budging. its been at 138 for 3 weeks now and i would like to see a little movement. i took a week off from running so now i need to get back out there, and 30 min a day is doable, especially since i don't work any nights this week.

My work schedule for this week is as follows (HBS stands for Harriet Beecher Stowe Center and PS stands for Petsmart)
Tues: 9-5:30 @ HBS
Wed: 7am - 3pm @PS
Thurs: 7am - 11am @ PS
FRI: 9-530 @ HBS
SAT: 9-6:30 @ HBS
Sun: 11am - 12pm @ PS, 1pm-5:30pm @ HBS, 6pm-11pm @PS

Busy, busy week! Take care of yourself! Get enough rest!

Sunday is going to suck. But as you can see its a busy week but i think i can stay motivated and stay on track! Like i said before my mom is away and im really trying to make healthy meals for my dad. We'll have chicken one night (any side dish suggestions?), salmon another night, salad another night, i won't be able to do this next week because i start my summer class, but my dad is having some major issues with his diabetes, and might even be losing his eyesight and im very worried he's going to have a heart attack, so maybe if i make him eat healthy then well...he will? I'm just really worried about him.

How about a cold brown rice salad or a quinoa salad or couscous salad? This would be something cold for this hot weather AND something you could prep ahead of time. I have recipes for all three types if you are interested.

Tonight i made soup from scratch, i just kind of through together a recipe but it was really good. I'll post my "recipe"..I just callled it sausage soup

I made this so i would have some to freeze, so cut it down if it seems like too much.

2 boxes low sodium chicken broth
2 cans diced tomatoes low salt
12 links chicken sausage (I used the pinapple kind)
8 oz of Kale (I should have used 16oz) chopped I used frozen
1 zuchunni chopped
1 onion chopped
2 cups lentils
various spices for taste (i used pepper, oregano, parsely, garlic, thyme, and basil)

Brown sasuage, and zuchunni and onions, add everything into pot and bring to boil, turn down to simmer for 40 - 45 minutes.

Let me tell you, it was quick it was easy, it seemed healthy and it was delicious. I saw sausage in my fridge and thats what i came up with.

Sounds good. I've never seen the pineapple sausage, but I have seen apple chicken sausage... do you think it would work as well??

Finally, im having INTENSE arm pain and upper neck and shoulder pain. im so sore and achy i want to cry. my boyfriend massaged me a while, and now i have a heating pad and lidocaine patched on them but holy moly does it hurt. im not sure if its the fibro acting up or whaat, but i need like a real massage, which i cannot afford!

Allright i better get to bed if i want to get up for work tomorrow! Tomorrow is work, then squuezing a run in before dinner with a friend, then cleaning for an hour then BED

How about a visit to a chiropractor? Is this a new pain or do you have experience with this in the past?

That soup sounds really good!! I need to try to incorporate kale into our diet...have yet to do that!

Just some encouraging signs after being on biggest loser for 3 weeks! I see collar bones!!! :) And what is even more amazing, is when I wear my sports bra to walk on the treadmill...I no longer have a uni****! :) I stopped wearing them for awhile because it was so unnerving to see my bOOks being smushed together...maybe it's because the sports bra is so much looser now and they have adequate space...whatever it is, it is a sign that my body is MORPHING into a more fit and healthy body!!! It is a wondrous thing!!

I have done much better this week on food, last week was a disappointment and would not get me to goal, still 'lost' but barely....so this week, I'm pulling out all the stops....watching very carefully what I eat and making sure it's a power food so I can keep up my 30 miles this week. Managed 15 last week but I had to be up at 5am (most mornings only had 3 hours of sleep thanks to errant puppies!) and drive 2 hours each day to get my son to rowing camp...I was just soo tired and we ate some meals on the go because of it...not happening this week!

Hope everyone stays strong and focuses on the fact that each loss represents a stronger and healthier you!!

Sounds like you are doing well and set for a FABULOUS week!

Morning friends and losers! Took DD to the first a.m. practice of the summer season. Left the house a bit early, as this is (yet another) new outdoor pool venue for us. Kind of "ghetto" inner city location.... the water was clean but the locker rooms were.... I told DD to NOT shower and deal with it at home, but after today she will be going directly from a.m. practice to driver's ed on Tuesdays, so not sure what exactly she will do.

Got in a good walk/run during the first half of her practice. The area isn't totally familiar to me and isn't exactly a great section of the city, but I found a cemetary that didn't look to sketchy and really enjoyed my time. I stopped once or twice to take a closer look at a headstone and enjoyed the inner city wildlife (spooked a mother turkey and her babies nesting behind a headstone). May hit "main street" next time for a change of scenery.

Here is the newest creation that I have been enjoying.... it is a photo mosaic created by (duh) USA Swimming. DD submitted about 7 photos that are all included, plus a few of her swim friends submitted some that include her.... so she is on her about 10 times! If you want to see one, look on the top of the left hand point of the "N" in "swimming. It is a photo of her and Michael Phelps on a white background taken at a "meet and greet" that we did about two years ago in NYC. There is actually another photo of her with MP also, but that is the easiest one to locate. When I click on it through the USA site, it enlarges it, but probably won't on this.... probably need to provide a link later.

Off for a busy day, laundry, scrapping, dishes, and evening Driver's Ed and b.ball play-offs! TTYL..................P

ETA: Here is a link to the photo mosaic. Top of the "N" in swimming, a bit to the upper right point of that "N".... white background, MP plus DD in a white t-shirt and jeans.

Also..... bottom right hand corner, second column from right, 7th photo up..... group photo of (some of ) DD's team after they won the GSSA championships last summer! (Group in black swimsuits or yellow t-shirts holding a green banner.... coach in yellow in front. DD is left-most swimmer in photo.

congrats to 6ofus2 and the rest of you as well... BAMB love the quote of the day... I need to practice listening to the whisper..

Yesterday was my first official day of WW (on my own) I did well - I used 2 of my extra point allowance for a few choco dipped pretzels after dinner.

Today I'm right on track..

I did my walking yesterday and tonight I'm gonna do some Wii bowling (weather is kinda of icky outside)

I am soo sad... I can't find my WW pedometer.. I love that thing!!! I brought it to Disney (on both my trips) in April, wore it everyday there, now I can't find it.. Does anyone know if I go to my local site will they just sell me a new one?

Have a fab and fit day.. Michelle

Kayla, I'm loving all your QOTD and especially your beautiful pictures!

If it is anything above what I would do ordinarily and it's active, I count it. I try for "activity" as opposed to "exercise." I still think I have a mental block about exercise but, of course, that is not true or I would not have finished all these races this year. I need to change my mind set. :sad2:

I only consider it a workout if it's planned and executed activity- otherwise it's just fun The least amount of work I can do before it's a "workout" is 20 minutes, or at least until I start sweating!

***************
This weekend was so awesome, especially last night- I hosted a MeetUp for the Pops In The Park series. One of the malls in the area built a big outdoor ampitheatre for the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and every summer, they have a five-week series of concerts. There's only two more left, which bums me out But then I'll get to go find other fun stuff to do in town! Last night's show was called Vive Le France and they performed the "can-can" song, which was so fun!

Gotta hop off here and get back to work! Have a good day everyone!

Ooo-la-la! ;) Sounds like a fun concert and you definitely have the right idea making activity "fun" no matter what you call it! :goodvibes

I don't count my daily routine as exercise.
For example-even though I have to haul our laundry over to the laundry center in our apartment complex I don't add up all the minutes walking back and forth. (It would be at about 20 on laundry days)
I just read something interesting on Spark People a few weeks ago. It said not every activity you do is exercise but it is important to be active. So while the laundry counts for my overall activity level it does not count towards my daily exercise. And of course we should all be as active as possible. So I only count walking that I set out to do as exercise, not walking I do as part of my day-to-day life.

Have you ever tried using a pedometer? I know Sparkpeople lets you count steps as activity when you are logging. You sound active in your everyday life so you may be getting more activity than you realize. Like Buffy who burns a ton of calories doing things like mowing the lawn. :teeth:

QOTD: For me I've got to get 30 mins in to consider it a real workout and I've got to get my heart rate up and sweat.

This is week 2 for me I do good during the week with my food, but I've got to work on the weekends. So trying to go ahead and make a plan for this up coming weekend now.

Great idea getting that plan in place now! :cool2:

for me traditional exercise is what I consider working out. Aerobic, spinning, running, swimming.
I don't typically count my daily moving around, although as long as I'm moving I do burn calories. The 3 things I do count are roller skating, mowing lawn, and housework. I sweat like a pig doing all of those things so I definitely count them.

I think 30 minutes is probably the minimum. That's what most workout videos are so that kind of gives me a base.

Quote of the Day
Think a 20 minute workout won't do anything? Well it's a hell of a lot better than a 0 minute workout

Love this quote, Buffy!

Glad you have your internet back again, Trina! pixiedust: for your busy, busy work week.

Spent 15 minutes typing replies on my IPad before the battery died without warning! No time left to chit chat.

Will repeat my answer to today's QOTD later. BBL.........P

Bummer! Sorry! :flower3:

I think that exercise/workouts are when you work up a sweat. For me a workout is something that I dread so I try to get it done as quickly as possible. For things that I do on a daily basis, i.e. walking too and from the printer at work, I do not consider it to be a workout. I think that I have to put in a solid 20 minutes before I consider it a real workout.

Have a fantastic monday everyone!

Hope your Monday was fantastic too! :goodvibes

I count traditional exercise, but I also count a few minutes at work. When I hit the floor at 6:45 it is around midnight before I sit down. So for over 5 hours I am moving in one way or another. Now I don't count the entire 5 hours, but I will give myself credit for at least 30 minutes.

That sounds like a lot of activity to me! :thumbsup2

Kristina, glad you got your lab results back. :goodvibes

I consider a workout when it is planned, takes more than 30 minutes and I sweat at some point. Since I have been off for the summer, have been doing well on the weekdays when I drop off my older son to work at the high school then run/walk on the track for an hour. The weekends have been getting me so I need to really make an effort to do something instead of slugging around at times.

I don't consider anything that I usually do, housework, laundry, etc. exercise ... however, I have been weeding my ivy that is on a huge hill. I have been counting that lately since it is out of the ordinary.

That ivy work sounds like a BIG job, Fran! :flower3:

Yay for collarbones and MORPHING! :cool2:

Just swimming along here. :fish: Haven't had a chance to post much but I'm reading every day. Had a couple of NSVs this week with smaller pants sizes, including an extra-large running skirt that I had not been able to wear before. I love it when that happens! ::yes::

Have a great day all!

Okay, nothing much planned today. We still have this crazy a** tropical storm that is pounding FL with rain. I don't hear it raining right now but they're saying more then likely we won't see an end in sight until sometime tomorrow. Hoping for a weekend. I wanna get out to Disney. We haven't been in a few weeks.

I'm calling the hematologist here in a second and getting that appointment made. I took my first dose of Provera. I was reading the bottle and it said "Take with food to avoid upset stomach" AHA! That's why it made me sicker then a dog last time, I didn't do that. **Fingers crossed**, I took it with food and hoping it cooperates with my body.

I'm going to have a light lunch later on today and then we're having jumbalaya with shrimp and turkey sausage for dinner. Hoping to stay within calorie range today. The last few weeks have been bad on the calorie front. This also will be the first month since um January I believe that I won't hit my 1,200 fitness minutes goal. I'm kind of bummed about it but eh, it is what it is. No need in beating myself up over it. I've had a lot going on in other areas of life.

Oh and for those of you that want to keep updated on everything that is going on with the reproductive endocrinologist, check my blog out!! I don't post all the updates on Sparkpeople because well, I don't feel comfortable doing it.

www.anewchapter4me.blogspot.com

Okay, I'm off to finish my juice and figure out what we're going to get accomplished this afternoon with all this crazy weather.

Morning all!!!

I guess I beat Pamela posting today, even though I'm late.

Actually we were here at the same time.... I just kept getting interrupted by DD who needed to "check" on the live feed of the Olympic swim trials...

I was so tired and had a massive coughing fit last night so I took Nyquil and was doped up this morning. DH ended up taking DS15 to practice and picked him back up.
I dragged my butt out of bed just in time to throw clothes on and take the boys to camp.
DS15 and I did intervals this morning and I did better than expected.

So sorry you are still feeling icky. Hopefully the extra sleep this morning helped. GREAT job with the intervals!!

I also wore my Everest Race shirt and it looks better on me. My belly was so big when I got it, it was tight but now it fits really nicely. I guess my belly is shrinking, it's just going slow. I hope slow is good so the skin has time to shrink.

WOOHOO on the shirt fitting better!

I guess I should run. I need to take something out for dinner and get ready to get the boys.

DH is out of town this week, so for me that means no big dinner!! That said, I try to make sure that the kids get a "real" meal for lunch, at least. Today was roasted green beans with sweet onion and baked potatoes for them, and the green beans with MSF Asian veggie burger for me.

Inspired by my confidence that I actually have a shot at finishing the 1/2:
Quote of the Day

"It's impossible" said pride.
"It's risky" said experience.
"It's pointless" said reason.
"Give it a try" whispered the heart

Thanks for reminding me to listen to my heart more often. I am FAR too busy listening to Reason most of the time.:sad2:

I am still here! I have been so busy and out of town! Hope everyone is doing well.

I think we are all doing well and hope that you are great!

If it is anything above what I would do ordinarily and it's active, I count it. I try for "activity" as opposed to "exercise." I still think I have a mental block about exercise but, of course, that is not true or I would have finished all these races this year. I need to change my mind set. :sad2:

Actually, I like your thinking. I need to remind myself to find an ACTIVITY that I enjoy, instead of constantly dreading the EXERCISE.

::yes::

Proud of you for all of the NSV's you are having! That is just wonderful! You are really heading in the right direction!!

Okay friends.... I didn't have much to say now, but it is a struggle to get "my time" on the family desktop computer these days (DD is busy watching Olympic trials on my fancy new flatscreen monitor.... b.day gift from my Mom), so when I saw that the chair was empty, I popped in it!

Last minute notifications from DS's baseball coach is making me nuts! He FINALLY texted a bit ago about the time and place for tonight's play-off game. And of COURSE it overlaps DD's Driver's Ed time EXACTLY!! And the two places are about an hour apart! Still trying to figure out how this is going to work! THis was a lousy week for DH to be out of town.

Laundry is plugging along, dishwasher is running, kitchen is cleaned up from lunch. Gonna hit the shower and then do a scrapbook page or two!.....P

Pamela I found her!!!! That's the pic she send DS15. Man she has changed so much in the face since then.

I think the mosaic is awesome, I'm so happy she's a part of it!

Hi Jessica! :wave2:

Hi Twingle!

Pamela, love the photo of DD and that she is in the mosaic so much. How fun!

Is there an outdoor shower at the pool where she could rinse off instead of using the icky locker room before driver's ed? :scared1: Not ideal, I know but I think it is better to smell like chlorine that use iffy facilities.

Sorry about having to be two places at once! :flower3: Are they actually driving in driver's ed yet? I remember I used to be dropped off at home alot while we were out driving but that was way back when -- you know stone wheels and all . . . :rolleyes1

I am still here! I have been so busy and out of town! Hope everyone is doing well.

Hello! :wave2: Hope you had fun out of town. :beach:

congrats to 6ofus2 and the rest of you as well...

Michelle

Michelle, I have an Omron pedometer that I can put in my pocket that I really like. It won't record extra movement as steps -- even a ride on Indiana Jones! Thanks for reminding me I need to find it and start using it again. :thanks:

I sent my dad an email, 1st contact in over 2 years. He's said and done some pretty dispicable things since Josh and Maddie died. However, after thinking about it (and my grandma asking me to reconcile) I wrote him. I'm not expecting much. I just wish my family would stop living in the past and look forward in life. Have enough respect to respect me, my choices, and my decisions and we'll be fine. If you can't do that then I'll go back to not talking to you. I want happiness in my life not ridiculing, judgmental, negative people.

I am in FL as well. Totally enjoying listening to the rain, but wishing I could go walk. Maybe I will later. Just throw on my rain poncho as well as lil princesses' and have fun puddle jumping.

Morning all!!!

Quote of the Day

"It's impossible" said pride.
"It's risky" said experience.
"It's pointless" said reason.
"Give it a try" whispered the heart

I haven't mentioned it before, but I really enjoy all your quotes. Thought I would actually respond to this one. I need to remember it because most of the time I listen to pride and reason, I guess I should listen to heart more often. It usually chimes in along with experience though. Thanks for all the great quotes.

Morning all!!!

I guess I beat Pamela posting today, even though I'm late.

I also wore my Everest Race shirt and it looks better on me. My belly was so big when I got it, it was tight but now it fits really nicely. I guess my belly is shrinking, it's just going slow. I hope slow is good so the skin has time to shrink.

I guess I should run. I need to take something out for dinner and get ready to get the boys.

Inspired by my confidence that I actually have a shot at finishing the 1/2:
Quote of the Day

I have such a hard time with Nyquil. I love it at night ... I sleep like a log! But, the sleepiness just seems to hang with me throughout the day. I hope you are feeling better.

Buffy, I just LOVE this quote today. I found it very inspiring. Sometimes it is really hard to just let go and listen to your heart. But this is where true courage can be found. Thanks for sharing! :goodvibes

Hey Pam, I found here. What a cool picture of her and Michael Phelps!

 Hoping your contact with your dad works out. My mom is pretty negative at times. She is 78 and I really have to keep in mind that she is getting older and really isn't her "old" self anymore. She is starting to forget things and it makes her very frustrated.

I saw her today and she is filling a photo frame with pictures for my oldest son. There are 4 slots for the pictures. Now .... I am the one who has to supply the pictures. :lmao: She told me she needed a picture of all my sons. So, I took it down a week ago. Well, I took a long one down and she needed a sideways one. So today I brought her a whole bunch of pictures down and she put them in the frames and has everyone in the pictures (brothers, grandparents, husband) .... but me ... her daughter. She told me she will put a picture of me behind one of the ones she selected so I will be in "there". I just smiled and was laughing in my head ... and just try to be patient with her. I keep telling myself that my boys will remember how I took care of my mom and hopefully will show me this same kind of patience. However .... it is very difficult some days. I really understand.

Awesome afternoon :goodvibes is pouring rain here in FL, but I love the weather. Made stuffed cabbage rolls with lil princess that turned out great. Is so much fun having a daughter to cook with, son never wanted to, he was all into "boy" stuff. Anyway after cooking we got into our raincoats and DD and I walked to get mail. By time we did that we were soaked, so took off the coats and embraced the rain. We had so much fun running and splashing and jumping in the puddles. Lil princess had never done that before. She was giggling so much, her smile was amazing. Now she is wanting to go back out. Never going to have a storm now where she doesn't want to go play in the puddles. Neighbors might think we are nuts, but it was too much fun and with all the running and jumping and playing it was even a bit of a work out.

Little bummed only 2 weeks into this and I've hurt my foot. I'm worried i may have a stress fracture I'm not sure. All I know is the tread mill kills it even in the pool it was hurting some. :(

Ok strange question but does anyone know how one would make their own jam? I want to go stawbery picking, and i'd love to make jam or preserves, but i have no clue how. Is there special equipment I need, has anyone done this bebfore? Are there are any websites that give step by step instructions?

Thats all i have time for today, I NEEEEED to go to bed if im going to get up a 6am and work till 3 at the job i dislike tomorrow

I have a bread maker that I can make jam in. I have made apple, blackberry and just yesterday strawberry. It is really easy. I believe I had 4 cups of chopped strawberries which I mashed (with a potato masher). Threw it in the bread maker, with 3/4 cup sugar, 1 T lemon juice (preservative) and pectin. Hit start. 1 and 1/2 hours later - I poured it into a jar. I did not seal the jars. I just put a screw on lid in the fridge because we would be using it right away. I believe you can do the same thing on the stovetop. I use Ball jars, lids, pectin etc. http://www.freshpreserving.com You will find some no sugar added recipes.

I bought a Ball Canning starter kit last year for $20. I have also "canned" dill pickles, salsa, tomotoes. Have fun - fresh is so much better.

Congratulations to all our losers. I am a little behind keeping the first page of the thread up to date - but I promise to catch up this weekend. I am on my ninth day straight at work - only another 7 to go and I get 5 days off. I keep reminding myself it only happens 4 weeks out of the year. Want some cheese with that whine????? :rotfl: I will say DH is really stepping up - but I can't complain he always does. He did all the cooking for the week Sunday, has been keeping up with my daily laundry/housekeeping routines. (Thank you Flylady!!!) Even DS is making his bed and asking if things need to be done. Then again - he could just be nervous that grades come out this week!!!

Google Freezer Jam. It is easy to make and you don't have to buy all the material to do the canning. Make sure that you get the right pectin for Freezer Jam. Then you just keep it in the freezer when it is done. It is a a little softer than store bought jam but even better tasting.

Here is a link to it.

:grouphug: to both of you! I adore your attitude with your mother! I called my mom for the first time in a month, I just needed a break from exactly what you describe! I hope I will be able to let it roll off like you can! It is just so hard to realize your parent is not Ma Ingalls...I try so hard to be the mom to my kids that I wish I had. My mom is loved by many and praised...which makes it even tougher knowing the side that I have to endure at times. I used my discouragement to fuel the past weeks on the treadmill, all that angst should fuel something!

I am having a mental fatigue of dieting, have watched so closely the foods I am eating...starting TOM so know it may be hormonally driven...but I so want a piece of pizza! I think I can hold off until weigh day and then just go get a slice...ugh!

Hey everyone! So sorry I missed yesterdays question, just so busy it's ridiculous.

Disney12815-1.jpg

QOTD: Wednesday. What do we all love? Food, of course! If shopping isn't fun for you, Epcot is probably one of the best places to try new and interesting food. What is your favorite restaurant in Epcot and what do you like to order?

Extra Question: Pizza is one of my "binge foods", as I call it, because I usually end up eating way more than I am supposed to and it triggers something that makes me want to eat more and more junk. What is your trigger food and do you take it completely from your diet or eat it every once in awhile and just try to control those cravings?

----
The picture is from our trip in May to Via Napoli. We are so adventurous we went with pizza. It was really good!

I feel so awful about not responding to you all lately, but I know you're chugging along and doing just fine because you are all awesome! I've been having a chocolate addiction lately and eating way too much of it, but so far so good this week. The Color Run is this Saturday and I am super pumped!

Have a great day!!

I love chicken because there are so many different ways to use it. I'm not a big Epcot fan but I do like Nine Dragons. I always get sweet and sour chicken. :lmao:

My trigger food is usually something sweet. I can't pinpoint what exactly because it can vary from day to day, last night it was honey cinnamon graham crackers. I almost ate a whole sleeve :scared1:. I eat sweets every day in some shape or form. I have realized something small once a day is not going to kill my weight loss journey. It actually is going to help me stay on track and not binge eat on junk food. I have Hershey nuggets in a candy dish on my dining room table. I usually eat one or two a day (50 calories a piece). Its just enough to cure my sweet tooth. I also have 100 calorie Jello packs in my fridge that I like to eat as well when that chocolate craving hits.

----

I heard back from my dad and surprisingly there was no "pointing fingers" at the way I live my life. I had sent my grandma an email giving her a heads up that I had emailed him. I told her "I have no problem having him in my life. I've put the past behind me. I wish he would do the same. I'm with Alan and I love him, nothing or no one is going to change that. So he needs to suck it up, put his big boy pants on and deal with it. I want another child and Alan is going to be the man I'm going to have it with. If he can't accept that then that child won't have anything to do with the family. I'm not going to subject an innocent child to family drama."

I told my dad "I'm happy. I'm the happiest I've been since Josh died. I wished I had made this move years ago. (Josh and Maddie have been gone 4.5 years this July). I'm glad to finally have doctors that listen to me and get to the root of problems. I'm more active, I'm losing weight easier, etc, etc." Then he said something I've never in my life heard my dad say to me. "I'm glad your happy and hope you stay that way."

I didn't read anything else beyond that because I about fell out of the chair from shock. Maybe not talking to him for 2.5 years maybe he's finally wisened up.

Nothing much planned today. Alan is at the dealership and I just had a late breakfast. I started Provera yesterday and so far haven't had any issues. I've learned my lesson "read prescription bottles before taking meds." The hematologist office called and she's getting records together from my FL doctors and possibly my TX hematologist. She's going to get back with me in the next few days and get my appointment scheduled. I told her I was kind of up against a deadline. I needed to get in to see the hematologist and get back to see my RE before July 19th, when we leave for Vegas. She assured me that I'll have it all accomplished by then.

Thank goodness for doctors who get stuff done and quickly!! :woohoo:

Going to finish up some laundry today, clean the kitchen up some, workout, and vacuum. Everyone have a great OP day!
