Hello everyone! I’m just wanted to jump on and introduce myself. I’m Beth 32 and from SC. I’m finally in the right mind set to start losing weight and thought this might be something good to help me on my journey to a healthier me.
Welcome, welcome, welcome!! So glad to have you aboard. Feel free to share a bit more about yourself if you would like, since you missed the "introduce yourself" QOTD.
Pamela, hope your DD enjoys her first day of summer and enjoy the 8th grade graduation ceremony tonight!Loved the veggie stock recipe!
IT was a nice day, but not very relaxing. We did some housework after breakfast, dashed to the Y for a swim workout, to the grocery store for graduation dinner supplies, back home to spend time with my parents (who arrived while I was out), dinner prep, iron DS's clothes, etc.... then off to take DD to the Y and get back to the middle school to save seats.
Have a great day all!
OMG, Tracey, I am so sorry about Brian's job! That must feel like a punch in the gut. I hope the leads pan out, and I especially hope that you'll be able to leave the stress behind when you step on the boat. I'm so, so sorry.
I'm way behind this week - work and the last week of school have absolutely snowed me! DD7 hyperextended her knee a little at gymnastics yesterday, and DD5 has inexplicably started having potty accidents (both day and night) after 2 1/2 years of being potty trained. But the weather is beautiful, we leave a week from tomorrow on vacation, and I'm inhaling pink, exhaling blue.
You may want to be sure that she doesn't have a UTI or something like that... it could cause potty issues in younger kids.
I've been keeping up with exercise, and I've only had a couple of food slips, which, thanks to the exercise, don't seem to have hurt me. *whew*
QOTD season - I am a summer baby, through and through. Spring makes me impatient for summer, and I can't stand winter. I do like fall - those first crisp mornings when I can bust out sweaters and jeans again. But I am a summer girl!
Me too! Summer all the way!
QOTD outdoor activity - I'm a new runner, and that's my favorite. I also like biking, but I haven't done it at all yet this season! Where is my time going... I'm not a hiker, climber, etc. at all. Camping? No, thanks. Remember Melman in Madagascar (the first) - "Aaahhh! Nature! Get it off!" <---me.
Off to DD7's last parent-teacher conference, then out to lunch with DH. I'm starting to feel a little overwhelmed... and my mom arrives tomorrow for the weekend.
XO
Liz
Enjoy your lunch with DH and your visit with Mom!
Question of the Day
This is from my last trip to DW. It was only dh and I on this trip. We found these guys alone in AK in the back so we stopped. Who is your favorite character?
Well obviously Bernard and Bianca but I have to travel to France to see them. I wish they were in the France Pavilion.
Didn't realize that they had them ANYWHERE! Great excuse for a visit to France!!
I can't pic one specific Character though. We have great memories attached to multiple characters.
Goofy when he spent a ton of times with the boys messing around.
Stitch when he played with DS11's mohawk last summer.
Beast when he stood way behind DD because she was scared of him but still managed to photobomb the picture so he was in it.
Mary Poppins, DS15's first crush
But my favorite was this one:
The kids were dressed as sweeps for the Halloween party and we had breakfast at 1900 but Mary for some reason was not there. We went to Guest Services at MK and asked if there was any way we could see Mary at Cinderella's. They snuck us up there between breakfast and Lunch to take some pics. The CM that brought us up asked if we were coming back any time soon and we said yes, at Christmas. She said perfect! Bring the boys costumes and come back for the parade, Bert and Mary will be dressed for the Sweeps scene in the movie. OK awesome!!
So we come back and we watch the parade back in Liberty Square. Alice breaks character and leaves her dance routine to drag Bert over to meet the boys. After the parade we went back up to Guest Services and asked if there was any possible way we could meet Bert because for some reason they had a 12:00 parade and a 3:00 parade. We figured they would stay in costume until the 2nd parade was over.
They took us back to this little room and we waited and waited. Well here comes Mary and Bert!! We probably spent an hour with them talking about the movie and the costumes etc. After they left, we were told to stand in a special spot near the barber shop for the 2nd parade. Bert, Mary, all the walking characters came up during the parade and were handing out High Fives and hugs. It was awesome!!!
Best disney moment ever!!
That is an AMAZING story..... a true bit of DISNEY MAGIC!! And the picture.... SO CUTE! I called DD to the computer see it!
So, Quote of the day:
It's so important to make someone happy. Start with yourself
Because we all know characters make us happy!! But we have to get out there and meet them to make it happen.
ANd it always makes me happy to meet Characters! That is how I make myself happy!
I have a question and need some input from you guys. I'm gonna order a new iPod, and want to get it engraved on the back...the problem is, I don't know what to engrave on there!
Do you guys have any ideas of what to put on there that's Disney related??
Do a google search for Disney quotes.... or watch your favorite movie and see what you can pull from that. DD's pink ipod is engraved with "Just keep swimming..." but that is a no-brainer for her, obviously!

Hi all,
Gone through a full range of emotions today! Thought for awhile that our health insurance had been canceled at the beginning of the month which meant we would have been liable for Izzie's surgery and ER visit! But, someone in the AGs office put some fear into the owners about what would happen if they didn't own up and change things.
So, update! Brian will get paid tomorrow and will get his 4 weeks of vacation time. He will also be going into the office! Probably won't get his comp time though. They will also be keeping our health insurance until the end of the month. It will be interesting being in FL for the first 5 days of July without insurance apparently.
Can't you buy into COBRA? There is NO REASON why you should have to go without insurance right now. If all else fails, AT LEAST get the girls covered by some sort of Massachusetts public care..... it is better than nothing!
Brian made several contacts today and got his resume out there today. He is on LinkedIn. Facebook was amazing today with all of our friends trying to help us out! It made us both feel a little bit more optimistic! Brian hasn't slept in over a day. He came to bed for awhile but never got to sleep. I think we're heading to bed soon. I only got about 3 hours last night.
Get some sleep.... your stress levels will go through the ROOF if you don't!
Gave 3 massages today. People still aren't tipping well with the groupons. I have 1 regular client tomorrow and then 4 straight groupon clients. I'm going to be wiped out tomorrow night! We are having Mexican for dinner tomorrow night after Ash's last dance class before the dress rehearsal!
I made homemade pizza for dinner. I had a bit too much I think but I earned it! I'll be eating protein bars and Fiber Plus bars between massages tomorrow!
Well, time to finish up stuff before going to bed!
TTFN![]()
Enjoy the mexican.
I absolutely love Beauty and the Beast. Our first trip, DS was 4. We went to meet the princesses and was so scared he wouldn't go to Cinderella. Belle was next. He didn't want to go over until she started asking what boys his age like to do at home. Well, that got him started about having Nerf gun fights. Belle was so sweet. She said it sounded scary & DS assured her it wasn't. Then, she asked if Beast could come over and play sometime, and he said yes. He was good with face characters after Belle. And, Prince Naveen was so awesome, too. He was high-fiving my boys and they had such a blast. I have some great pictures of them.
SO CUTE! DS always just wore a different Buzz Lightyear shirt every day of our visist when he was younger. He wouldn't have worn a shirt with a princess or prince if he had any choice!
Took DS6 to MedExpress and sure enough he has strep again. Poor thing. They gave him a different antibiotic so I'm hoping this works.
I'm all ready for the big garage sale tomorrow and Saturday. I have a feeling that I will be exhausted on Sunday!
That's about all for now. I'm off to get some sleep since I have to wake up early tomorrow. Have a great night!
Jill
Aww.... well, at least the strep can be treated.
Best of luck with this yard sale. I hope you sell everything for top price!! Weather looks good for your area for the weekend.
Healthy Habits Week 2: Fantasyland
As I’m sure most of you know, Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom at WDW is a delight to children and adults alike. It is home to many different attractions, including Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, Dumbo, “it’s a small world,” Mad Tea Party, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, Peter Pan’s Flight, and of course, Cinderella Castle. This week, the attractions of Fantasyland come to life as we incorporate them into our healthier lifestyle.
Mini-Challenge #1: Have you ever noticed how much walking is involved in moving around Fantasyland? I don’t know about you, but I go to certain attractions based on how quickly the line increases instead of going in location order. This is an added exercise bonus! To help you move quickly, you need to be hydrated. This week, we are improving our water consumption keeping in mind that each day doesn’t have to be perfect. Give yourself 1 point for drinking a total of 64 oz. of water on 5/7 days. You can count up to 8 oz. of tea or coffee toward your total for the day.
Mini-Challenge #2: When I go on a carousel more than once, I have to use a different horse the second time. I tend to be very detail-oriented and obsessed with record-keeping, so my journal would come out and I’d write down which horses I rode on so far. This same time of record-keeping is very helpful for weight loss. However, it is up to you if you want to count calories or points or watch portions, etc. This week, stick to your weight loss or maintenance plan for 5/7 days and you earn 1 point. Please know that you are welcome to change your approach each week.
Mini-Challenge #3: Have you ever noticed how much dancing those characters in “it’s a small world” do? They must accrue a lot of exercise minutes. This week, give yourself 1 point if you stuck to your exercise plan.
Mini-Challenge #4: Mickey’s PhilharMagic brings me back to my childhood days of watching the Disney channel while my father was awake and getting ready for work while my mom was still sleeping. The incorporation of the senses in The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh makes for a relaxing attraction. In the spirit of the relaxing day featured in The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, spend time relaxing on 3/7 days. You get to decide how much time you want to take and whether or not you do relax as “me” time. Example: You find going to the beach with your kids relaxing.
Mini-Challenge #5: Have a “Mad Tea Party.” Give yourself 1 point if you have a party-like meal that is on plan. You should have some type of appetizer (salad, soup, crudités), an entrée, and a dessert. You could even have some tea.
Mini-Challenge #6: The beautiful artistic work in Peter Pan’s Flight amazes me, especially as it is an older attraction. You are on a journey to healthier you whether you are losing or maintaining weight. It doesn’t happen overnight like your trip to Neverland, but it may happen more quickly if you have a specific goal. Give yourself 1 point for thinking about the goal(s) you already wrote. Reflect on it/them and make any necessary changes. Remember, that you don't want to have too many or too few. Make it/them as specific as possible. Here is one of mine. By the end of the challenge, I will be able to walk 5K on the treadmill. I am not giving myself a time limit or requiring myself to run any of it.
Please feel free to PM with any questions. I know I have a few of them and I will catch up tomorrow. I am exhausted tonight.
Have a great week everyone!
LOVE IT! Thanks CC!!!!
My youngest was diagnosed with strep today too. Change his toothbrush after a few days on the antibiotic - he may have reinfected himself with the toothbrush. I'm just hoping no one else gets it. We have baseball all weekend again (5 games from Friday to Sunday with 3 of them on Saturday).
Must be going around the country. DS had it last month and he hadn't had it in YEARS (if ever). Toothbrush suggestion is a great idea. DS uses a Sonicare, but we have a sterilizer for the heads that he used.
Enjoy your ballgame weekend!
Good morning to all you Losers!!
It is Friday which means we are starting a new week in the challenge. That also means it is time to take care of the business end of things.
First of all, a BIGto Dona for her coaching last week! Week 2 can be a hard one to get through, believe me, I know. And your questions really helped us keep a focus on the day and week ahead of us. THANK YOU!
Yup... she rocked it!! Thanks DONA!!
If you have not realized by now......I am stepping up to the coaching position today. I think this is comng at a perfect time for me as I had a rather up and down Week 2
following a stellar Week 1. So I am hoping that as coach I can inspire you all and myself to stay on TARGET!!
Looking forward to your week!!
I have been in communication with CC and we have chosen Fantasyland as our theme for the week. As you can see she has already posted the new Healthy Habits for the week. If you have been participating, hopefully you will find they are helpful to keep you on track for the week. If you have not been participating, I challenge as many of you to join in this week. I would love to see at least 75% of our challengers with their names on the list for participating next week! Step up and give it a try.
WOW! A coordinated effort! IMPRESSIVE!
Please remember to do the following today:
- Weigh in and send your result to Sue via Private Message at dvccruiser76
- Send your Healthy Habits results for the last week to CC via Private Message to cclovesdis
THANKS for the reminder!!
Thank you to both Sue and CC for keeping track of these and reporting to us early in the next week how people did for Week 2.
All right, I think that takes care of all the business. I will be back to post the QOTD soon!
Have a great Week 3!

QOTD Friday June 16, 2012
As we ventured down Main Street with the Castle luring us even further into the park, we mount the sweeping ramps that lead to the entrance to Fantasyland.....beckoning us onward we find ourselve welcomed into Cinderella's Castle and are greeted by a hidden gem of the park....the beautiful mosaics in the passageway. The hidden gem that some people miss all together because they focus on the outside structure of the castle.
Many of us may be focused on the outside structure. Maybe others have been focused on that too. They and we forget about the inner person. Share a little about what makes you beautiful on the inside that maybe others don't see right away.
What is the hidden gem that makes you unique?
Hard question. REALLY hard. Just throwing out a few things here....I'm organized and LOVE to organize things (closets, parties, etc). I'm somewhat creative. I love researching my genealogy and love family history. That's all I can come up with.
BTW..... I will say that I was BITTERLY disappointed with Cinderella's castle on my first visit when I was 10. It is such a spectacular structure and such a widely-known building. I REALLY was expecting to be able to GO IN the castle and see all kinds of beautiful rooms, etc. The fact that it was just a walk through..... with some pretty lame art work (based on a 10 y/o point of view, of course), was the single biggest disappointment of my first ever trip to Disney. What a rip-off!!
Obviously now, as an adult, I can appreciate the mosaics and have been inside the castle to have breakfast with Cinderella and friends, twice. But it still strikes me as a bit misleading to have this BEAUTIFUL ICON that is not much more than a facade!
My DS has not officially chosen his Eagle project - but one of the adult leaders is the Chief of the FD. My DF is a retired FD, so Connor would like to do something in conjunction with the FD and dedicate it to my DF.
Janis
That would be SO NICE if it had some sort of family connection.
I think I am beautiful on the inside because I am caring, generous and empathetic to others. I am very sensitive to the needs of others ! I am open minded and try to see things from all points of view. Not sure that makes me unique but I like myself for who I am and you can't get any better than that! Now, to work on the outside
THat is SO NICE! I am definitely not sensitive enough. And empathy is a struggle for me.... probably because I am a pretty "strong" (in quotes as I'm not REALLY strong.... I just put on a good persona) person and I always seem to expect others to "suck it up and deal with it."Liking yourself on the INSIDE will definitely help you get the outside under control!!
Good luck with WI today everyoneI will be honest and say that even after 2 weeks I am not quite back into healthy living mode. We are moving this weekend to our new house and I am just trying to hold it together until we get that complete. For the past month we have done painting at the new house and had the floors refinished and some other minor renovations and slowly moving our stuff over. The movers will move the furniture tomorrow and we have until June 30th to be out of the rental house. Our cats have torn up some stuff and we need to get that repaired and get the house cleaned. I'm tired just thinking about all that needs to get done!
Well, time to get to work. Today I am wearing pants with a broken zipper! Covered by a long shirt. I love these pants and won't let a broken zipper stop me from wearing them
Have a great day all!
Shawn![]()
Best of luck with the move. Life must be crazy right now!
You can get the zipper replaced pretty easily if you really love the pants! Any tailor or seamstress worth 2 cents ought to be able to do it for you easily.
I officially made it to the single digits!!! 209.2!!! I was 265 this time last year so I am so excited!!
CONGRATS!
What makes me special? Hmmm...I love children, I have a special way with them and see them for how special God made each of them...oh and with horses, too..they are amazing creatures!!
THat is SO NICE!!
I also hit all 6 points on healthy habits this week!! WOW!! I walked 30 miles for the second week in a row...figured the scale would drop like bricks but it's slowly coming off..in the two weeks I have lost 3.8 pounds...I hope I can tweak some of my eating to help my body better fuel itself...not sure I'm eating enough calories and know I need more raw veggies!
I did find that I was getting weak/light headed and overall not feeling well on some days...I bought 2 things of Gatorade (heavy on sugars!) and poured 1/4th Gatorade into my full glass of water after each 3mile walk...it did the trick!! I guess my minerals/salts were being depleted with the workouts...I hate to add that kind of sugar in, but my body must need it with the amount of working out I've done.
Wanted to share my new fave recipe!! Redneck caviar (aka Texas caviar among other names, many different takes on this recipe, but it is GREAT with Frito Scoops, I allow myself 5 Fritos and load on the caviar for a meal)
2 Cans black beans
1 Can Ro-tel
2 Cans black eyed peas
1 Can white shoe peg corn
¼ - ½ C diced jalapenos
2-3 t minced garlic
¾ -1 cup chopped cilantro
1 onion diced
6 T red wine vinegar
6 T olive oil
2 t oregano
2 t cumin
Drain all canned goods very well. Mix all ingredients together and chill for at least two hours, better the next day. Serve with corn chips or tortilla chips. When I half the recipe, I still use a whole can of corn and Ro-tel. I actually have not used the jalapenos but if you do, I was told to make sure to drain off the liquid if using the canned ones!I drain and rinse all the beans and use about 1/2 cup of cilantro!

I LOVE new recipes and I LOVE beans! I will definitely make this over the summer to take to a bbq or something. Thanks!
Sorry, I haven't been responding to everyone's posts lately. I have been reading, just don't have the time to go back and respond we have so many losers here (which is awesome!!). Between work and friends this summer is so busy!
Thanks Dona for coaching this week!
QOTD: I am very generous and selfless. I will always give up something that is convenient for me for someone else, or I will buy things for people I love, or volunteer. I hate getting gifts but I love giving them. I am always here to help!!
SO NICE!
Hey, didn't I say I was going to participate in HH this week. -looks around nervously-
Yeah...didn't quite write it all down. But I will this week...I will!
I had a great weigh in and am back into the 130s! Only 13lbs away from my ultimate goal now.Hope you all have a great weigh-in and a nice day!
WOOHOO!! Great job!

Happy SUNNY Friday friends!!!!

DS's 8th grade graduation was nice last night. He looked good and did fine with his speaking part, although it was a bit hard to see him from where I sat. But I got a few good pictures. I teared up a bit when they all walked in to Rascal Flatts " My Wish".... nice touch for the kids to pick that song. And our robotics kids made a NICE showing with almost EVERY team member doing a speaking part or getting a special award or something! DS's best friend got the Principal's award, so that was a nice surprise too!
He enjoyed his home celebration dinner (opted to eat at home rather than a restaurant to save some time). He had requested ribs and french fries. I bought the precooked and sauced ribs that you just heat up and he said they were GREAT! Paired that with Alexia waffle fries and he was a happy boy! I also cooked veggies and grilled chicken breast for DH and myself to be able to stay OP.
Dessert was a Friendly's ice cream cake as a surprise for DS. He ALWAYS requested these for his b.day when he was younger. I got a really tiny one (6 servings). The kids and my parents had it for dessert.... DH and I had fresh strawberries with a bit of Cool Whip Free. I maybe have splurged a bit more if today wasn't weigh in day.
I did have a small loss this week, but I may take another sneak peek tomorrow. We had dinner SO LATE last night (eating dessert at 9:40

I will post a picture from DS's graduation last night instead of a semi-formal picture..... he wore the same outfit, so why duplicate?

Off to enjoy the sunshine and relax just a bit before my busy weekend.... graduation party tomorrow and Father's Day on Sunday (plus someone MIGHT be celebrating a birthday on Sunday

Will post that picture and then BBL to chat!.....................P
