Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer Challenge

Carol It couldn't hurt to talk to your DR. But other than that, just keep an eye out for the bullseye mark (Athough some people never get that), high fever, joint pain.

Jill DS is responsible for taking his pill. I can never remember so he just takes it at the same time DS10 takes his ADD meds in the morning, and then again before he goes to bed.

Rose Lyme is tough, if left untreated it can cause neurological problems. My brother has the joint swelling on occasion. Hopefully we caught it early enough that he doesn't have any lasting effects.

**************************

Thanks for all your support over the weekend. Sunday was better, even with the banquet food.
I did go over calories but was able to override some of that with all the walking at the banquet. I got a little over 13,000 steps in.
Today I am doing my best to eat right and I need to figure out some kind of exercise. It will probably be lawn mowing and house work.

NOw that summer is here every talks about water. What do like "Ocean, RIver, Lake or Pool" Or do you have a fear of the water?

None of the above!!! I hate water! DH is fully convinced that I died on Titanic. I love the era, I love the boat, I love the clothes, I hate the water.
I can't swim, even though I've had lessons when I was younger.
I panic when the kids are near water.
They can't really swim either but have had lessons.

If I had to choose one, it would be pool. Only because I can control the surroundings a bit more.

Quote of the Day

Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. What do we do? We swim, swim.

Hello friends!:goodvibes I wanted to let you all know that I am here with you for the Summer Challenge! My name is Shawn, I am 51 years old, live in NC (Hello Kaiti in Charlotte!) with my DH and 15 yr old son. Almost the same family and age as LisaH, Janis and one other lady I can't think of the name right now - she went geocaching with son last weekend I think.

I started on a journey to get healthy Feb 2010 with a goal to lose 50 lbs by my 50th bday Feb 2011. Found these boards in Sept 2010 and participated in several challenges in a row losing a total of 30 lbs in about 18 months. I went back to work last August after being off for 2 years and between that and busy family life I slowly lost time for these challenges and completely dropped out by Feb 2012. Of course I have gained back a ton of weight:sad2: I will need to remove my 30 lb clippie but I hope you will bear with me if it takes me a few weeks to say goodbye to it:laughing: Anyone out there who is discouraged ATLEAST try to keep off the weight you've already lost if you don't feel like you can lose more at this time.

I am slowly taking baby steps to get back into a healthy lifestyle. I did not do well the first week of the challenge but I am determined to do better this week. I do not know how much time I will have to post but I wanted to let you know that I am here and reading along and cheering for YOU and all of us to do well and encourage each other. I like to read all the posts and I am only up to about page 19 so far. I will try to devote atleast an hour a day to reading and posting until I can catch up with you all:hug:

See you on the DIS this Summer !!!!! :cool2:

Hey friend! Nice to have you back!! How is the new job going??

The QOTD about making a plan B came in to play for me yesterday.
We were going to go running when my DH got home from work. He walked in the house and said if we were going to we had better do it quick since rain was on the way. Well, as soon as we get out on the sidewalk the sky opened up! We decided to give it 45 minutes but it was still going strong. The plan was running Friday, hike Saturday and rest Sunday.
I just switched our days around and took a rest day yesterday and headed to the movies. We ran first thing this morning. I'm heading out to the grocery in a little while to get snacks for our hike/picnic tomorrow!

Good job reverting to plan B when necessary! What movie did you see??

Just a quick post today.

QOTD: I do not know exactly how many veggies and fruits I eat as I don't measure them very often. Probably not enough, but that's a whole lot of food to eat, 9 servings a day!

Trying to get all my photos edited, going on 4 days now, it does take quite awhile!

Accidently dropped a knife (blade down) on my foot today. :scared: Don't worry, it was a very small one, a small cut on my foot but it seems like it will be leaving a nice bruise and it hurts a bit. Hopefully it doesn't affect my running too much.

Hope you all had a fabulous day! Back to photoshop...

Ouch! Hope your foot heals fast. Can't wait to see a few of your photos!

Having a rough night. Got an email about a friend who lost her baby today. She was only 3 weeks away from delivering their little boy. She went to the doctor as he wasn't moving and found no heartbeat. She delivered him this morning and the cord was wrapped around his neck. I am just totally devastated for them. Her daughter is in Izzie's class and she has been a big help with Izzie this year. I was with her all yesterday afternoon at Carnival Day at school. She seemed good. I just can't stop crying tonight. I remember saying to Izzie yesterday that we would get to meet her friend's brother when we got back from Disney. I noticed a lot of cars at the house this morning and thought they must be having a party. She is coming home tonight or tomorrow and they will tell their two little girls. They were so excited for the baby. My heart is just breaking for them tonight. Please put Jen, Todd, Julia and Lena in your prayers! They are a real sweet family.

How very, very devastating for that family. Prayers definitely coming.

Otherwise it was a nice day. Brian's soccer team won 1-0 and they play their last game tomorrow morning. Ashleigh's play was a success and we found out that the next show in the fall would be The Phantom Tollbooth. We had a nice meal after the show at the cast party. Brian is going to help with the drama club website next year and I plan on helping to plan the cast party or be the photographer.

Gotta help Ash record a video for her book report now.

Thanks for letting me cry on your shoulder! I know how wonderful you all are and knew I could come here to share!

God Bless you all tonight and your families!

TTFN :tigger:

Hmm...where has that motivation gone? I'm sure I put it around here somewhere....:confused3

WHen you find it, it is probably with mine.

Ok not TOTALLY unmotivated, I went running again this morning! I woke up and I ate a nectarine and then I forced myself to go running. I did 3 miles, walk/run as usual but I ran more than usual. And, a fox came out of the woods and ran ahead of me for about half a mile! It was so cool! I don't usually run that way on the trail so it was nice to see some different things.

GOOD FOR YOU!!

I also tracked my food today...up until dinner. But I had a healthy dinner (chicken and some sweet potatoes) so i'm feeling pretty good about all that.

Otherwise I lack motivation to do anything. My room is quite messy and i need to clean it but im just feeling very blah. It's how i've been feeling lately, just lacking motivation to do anything and then feeling bummed about it. I'm happy i got my run in though and got that out of the way because i know i wouldnt have the motivation to do it now and i would feel worse if i hadn't done it.

I'm also feeling kind of annoyed about some friendships right now. Basically certian friends have stopped making an effort to maintain friendships and it just makes me feel really sad/angry. Maybe its just that time of the month, causes me to be extra moody. I'm going to not dwell on it.

QOTD - I do not get enough fruits and veggies but i get a decent amount. I really truly love fruits and veggies, and I always start my day with some sort of fruit...usually strawberries, or a nectarine, or grapefruits. I also love rasberries. Not a big fan of blueberries, unless its in a pancake or waffle.

Veggies I love! Although, i have issues with salad because it never makes me feel full, and i can't eat it as a "meal" but i also don't feel i've truly found a good salad. my salads are plain and boring and just dont do anything for me. For veggies i love sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts, turnips, califlower, mushrooms, and green beans. I eat baby carrots a lot but don't really like them, and i eat brocolli but im not a fan.

Find some ways to make salad more interesting. It is a GREAT way to get HUGE portions of fruits and veggies in one meal. How about adding things like hummus or avocado or guacamole? Slivered/chopped nuts, fat-free croutons, a handful of crumbled pretzels.... all of these add some nice texture.

How about experimenting with some new dressing flavors??

I'm going to go upstairs and get some water and see about just spending ten minutes doing some cleaning. I just got a new iphone so maybe i'll have siri set an alarm haha

I will also put in a load of laundry, and then i want to look into some stuff for boyfriend and i to do at the cape when we go in july. I've been vacationing at the cape for 26 years, but this will be my second trip with him and we didn't do much the first trip and he was bored, so i want to find some fun stuff to do. I know we are going to go biking cause we did that on castaway cay and it was fun so that's a decided, and provincetown because thats like a second home to me (my ancestors came from portugal to provincetown, we still own llots of land up there, my grandparents are buried there etc), but that still leaves probably a day to find something fun to do. And we are not beach people.

I will check in tomorrow, hope everone is having a nice weekend

Have fun with your vacation planning!

Well, I was up this morning and hand breakfast, We went to Publix and got groceries, came home ate lunch, swam a bit, and then lounged for awhile. We had dinner at Red Lobster and I'm getting ready to do a few Sparkpeople videos, take a bath, do some more reading of my Walt Disney biography I bought months ago, and then probably head to bed at a decent hour.

Nothing planned for tomorrow. Forecast shows rain all week. So we shall see...

Which WD bio are you reading?

Tracey prayers being said for the family. Don't forget her DS's birthday, many people will not want to talk about it, and she might not want to either but a card would be good for her to receive.

Nice idea.

I had a horrible food day, Way way way over calories and I am paying the price with being draggy, lethargic, moody, bloated etc.
100% back on plan tomorrow. But one upside today, what I ate today was the way I ate almost every day. It was very eye opening to see exactly what I consumed calorie wise almost daily. No wonder I was pushing 200 pounds.

Hopefully I can reverse todays damage before the next weigh in. I dropped 2 pounds this week, I'm hoping for at least 1 on Friday.

Sounds a bit like my day yesterday. :rolleyes: Onward and OP today, right??

sorry I didn't get a Quote up today. I will try for tomorrow. Today I was up to my eyeballs in Bowling banquet decorations. Between cutting the layers, adhering everything and building the decor, I was at it almost all day. I just finished a little bit ago.
Hopefully the kids won't touch them to much because I'd like to save them for next year.

I will post pics later, maybe I'll take my camera with me to the school when we go to decorate.

I'm headed to bed in 10, I'll talk to y'all tomorrow.

Can't wait to see pictures!

Good SUnday morning everyone.

I have a very busy morning. I have to read at 7:30 mass and then there is a special mass at 9 to get reinstalled as Special Ministers so I also have to go to that. usually I eat after 7:30 but I won't have time so I have to eat early this morning.

Question of the Day

All these guys say MINE MINE MINE. We as women and mothers here this all the time from other people and we are always pleasing other people.

What do you do for your MINE time?

That is my DIS time! My time to be here with you folks!

Good afternoon everyone,

Thanks for the prayers for my friend and her family. She is home from the hospital and she sent out an email to everyone about her little boy! It just breaks my heart for them!

Today started off with a trip to the ER for Izzie. Her ear started bleeding this morning around 7:30. We think it was infected as the swelling had increased again. The dr drained more from it and we have to try and make an appointment with the plastic surgeon or an assistant in the next 2 days. I know he's in surgery tomorrow and in Boston on Tuesday so this could be a challenge especially since I'm supposed to work all day on Tuesday. It never ends. I talked to my co-worker who is going to tell the boss for me to prepare her in case I can't be there. My family comes first and we can reschedule the massages for another day. We were back home by 11:30. It hurt a lot despite the medication they gave her. Lots of screaming and crying. They finally gave her motrin which kicked in about 15 minutes later. She has her ear wrapped in gauze.

DD12 and DH lost their last soccer game of the season but they played with a lot of heart. Taking Ash to dog sit in a few minutes. The craziness never ends around here.

No exercise here again today but I haven't eaten much either. Got a lot going on this week. Will post when I can!

TTFN :tigger:

Hope that the ear heals quickly and uneventfully.

You mentioned the WW leaders not liking what you eat...as long as you are healthy and losing or maintaining, you are doing a good job! I like doing it online - no one looking over my shoulder...

Not that they wouldn't like what I am eating (I think I eat incredibly healthy).... just the way I am counting fractional points. But since I do it on my own, I am the only one I have to please!

Congrats to your DD! That is awesome! Hope DS does as well this coming year. They don't do award ceremonies at the schools anymore, only for the seniors. He got some stuff, but it is handed out in class. Not sure why, you'd think they could streamline it so they could all be in it. I will be there for senior though, will be sure not to miss that one. His last award ceremony I missed, he forgot to tell me about it (he wasn't there either), and he received the award for being in the state finals for the NG Geography Bee. I would have loved for us to be there for that one.

Thanks! Glad we didn't miss it. We have missed a few events in her school career, either through lack of knowledge about it, or bad planning. The worst was when they did the ground breaking for our new middle school. We chose NOT to attend, figuring it would be crazy crowded with the whole town there. Didn't find out until a friend called to ask why we were there that DD had been choosen to be one of the students to use a golden shovel to break the ground!! :mad: Not sure why her teachers didn't give us a heads up with that, but it was HEARTBREAKING that she missed the opportunity. I try not to miss ANYTHING any more! You never know! Wow on the Geography Bee award!!

I am going to encourage DS to take the tests. I keep on telling him that it will save him time, he can get to the good stuff and skip the other classes if he passes the test. He never had chem until this year, and wanted to do AP next year. He is interested in engineering as well - he wants to be a rocket scientist ;)! Penn State is one I am encouraging him to look at, as well as some of our local ones. And he is going to apply to MIT, but he has a German grade that is dragging him down, but he doesn't want to give up on it.

MIT is a TOUGH school to get into. I have a niece who is crazy, insanely brilliant. She attended a VERY prestigious private HS in MA.... super elite. And applied to MIT.... and got WAIT LISTED!!:eek: She ended up at Carnegie Mellon University and is now attending law school.... but it made me really realize that my two really-smart-but-still-average kiddos don't have a snowballs chance in heck of getting into places like that! DD is probably still going to apply to Harvard (to at least say she did it). DS (will be a freshman next fall) has his heart set on WPI in MA. He is going to have to bust his tail a bit more if that dream is to come true. He has mentioned MIT, but I just chuckle when he does.

Penn State would be a great school! And he should definitely APPLY to MIT, if only for the chance to dream about it! And you never know!;)

I love fruits and veges, but (esp veggies) are a hassle to prepare when you are in a hurry. I have eight on my WW tracker which I usually fill up. I have blueberries in the morning with my oatmeal, banana for mid-morning, a few servings of carrots in the afternoon. A soup I like has two servings, and I always have one or two in the evening, along with maybe some berries, which is usually a couple of servings. I like roasted veges too, and some days have a huge salad for a meal with all sorts of salad veggies, with just a touch of dressing. It is so big it absolutely fills me up.

Have trouble with apples, since if I eat one I feel more hungry - very frustrating since it is such a healthy fruit. And I hate peeling oranges, even though I love the taste!

Funny, since I find apples very filling! How about a bit of peanut butter with the apple? Combining the fats and protein of the pb with the carbs of the apple might help. I'm with you on the oranges.... although I like grapefruit enough to deal with peeling it.

I have a huge salad pretty much every single day for lunch. Sometimes I add the protein and that is my whole meal. Other times I just start with the salad and finish up with soup or a sandwich or some leftovers. It fills me up too!!

Really busy crazy week at work, but good on the diet front. I stayed OP, tracked and was very careful. So far I turned down donuts, sundaes and chinese food. But it paid off! Overslept Friday so couldn't weigh myself, yesterday morning was 6 pounds! Gotta love the first week after a break! I started out above where I had started my last challenge, and it just fell off! I know it will slow down after this, but that is a great feeling! I have been dancing around all weekend! Splurged Thursday and today on milk duds when we went to the movies, but drank water instead of the slurpees.

WOW on the 6!!

Movies again next weekend with friends, and lunch with that, so will need to be absolutely good until then Going to Eggspectation, never have been. I have seen it on expense reports, and seems very popular.

Looks like our trip is a go. So excited to see my new niece and nephew, another nephews wedding and a family reunion. Going to be a crazy trip though. Lots of driving to make all the events. Need to make it their though, spend some time with DMIL. During the fall challenge, she lost two of her siblings in the space of one week. I fell apart during that, and did not do very well the rest of the challenge. This week, her third sibling passed away. It is her three older siblings and she is the next one in age. Her younger brother (only other sibling left) is undergoing treatment for cancer, although they think it might be OK now. But I think she is probably feeling a little scared and shakey. She is much healthier than the three of them were, so that is a blessing, but she is probably thinking she is next in line...:sad1:

I think it is so sad and scary when our parents/grandparents start getting to that age where they are losing friends and family members on a regular basis. My DMIL (who turns 90 this year) has lost several of her siblings and her in-laws in the past few years and I'm sure she feels some days like she is just biding her time. We are making a HUGE deal out of her 90th birthday this year and trying to remind her that there is NO REASON why she couldn't live to 100!! She is still reasonably healthy, lives alone, drives, cooks, etc. Good for you for being aware of how your DMIL is probably feeling.

Work has gotten very stressful, filling in for a coworker, so even did some work at home this weekend. She is back the middle of this week, but I am crazy far behind. Will probably do some work at home next week as well, but at least it will get it done. They put off the accounting changeover to July, so that gave me some space, but of course it will just get crazy then! Will be so glad when it is over!

Need to wrap this up, send in my HH and weight and get ready for work tomorrow. Take care all!

Carol :goodvibes

Have a GREAT week!

Buffy--I just saw your reply about Lyme disease and the kiddos. I'm glad you are getting the test for your other son as well, I don't think it is anything to mess around with. The executive director's husband at the agency I work for had a nasty case last year. He ended up in the icu. We don't have it around here, but they had gone hiking in Indiana....He's much improved, but until they found out what it was it was a little frightening. Anyhow, I will be sending good thoughts your way for both your ds's.:goodvibes

Jen--what happened with the echo??? Did I miss it?

I don't think we've heard back from Jen yet. If so, I haven't seen it either.
Anyone hear anything??

Glad they figured out what was going on and are testing DS15. 30 days of antibiotics? Geez...DS6 is on 10 days for strep and we've already forgotton 2 doses. I'd never remember 30 days worth. I guess I'd have to set my phone alarm to remind me :)

Sounds silly but when my kids were both on antibiotics recently I made up a small chart (kind of like a sticker chart) for them to check off when they took their meds. Even at their ages (14 and nearly 17) they got a kick out of putting a check in the box for each dose! You could make it more fun and really use stickers!! BAMB is pretty creative.... I'll bet she'll come up with something like this!

It took me a couple hours, but I am all caught up from Friday. This is going to be a crazy week, so I am going to try to get on daily, but may not. DS9 has archery camp M-Th 45 minutes away from 9 am-noon. So, DS6 and I are going to find things to do in the area each day. Tomorrow, I need to call the orthodontist because DS's bottom wire popped out of both bottom back brackets. We were there less than 2 weeks ago. Why does this happen? So, I am hoping for an appt after 1:00. I'd also like to take DS9 running if he's not too tired from being outside all morning.

Sounds like a good plan. Maybe you could pack a picnic brunch a few days and find a good hiking or walking place and do a walk/picnic with DS6. Then maybe another day you could find a museum or something like that?? And maybe one day of shopping?? Not sure what kind of area it is. When DS did robotics camp in Manchester a few years ago, I picked one day to stay in town while he was at camp and brought DD along and we did sort of tourist stuff. We walked along the river and down Elm St (sort of the "Main St." of Manch) and had lunch in a park, etc. Then another time when he was at the same camp I took an afternoon to myself and did a few small museums in the area. I love that kind of history stuff and it bores the kids silly, so it was nice to have time to do it alone.

We are having our garage sale Fri and Sat. I've been taking stuff to my mom's everyday and organizing it. It's a lot of work to haul all your stuff to someone else's house!

I agree! I've done "away from home" yard sales several times because we live so far out in the boondocks.

We are also trying to get people out for estimates for a new roof and gutters. We have one estimate ($14,070), but would like a few more. Then we have to find time to get to the bank and look into home equity loans or lines of credit to help pay. The one person who came for an estimate kept saying, "You have a big roof." Yeah, no kidding.

YIKES! I KNOW that we should have a MUCH BIGGER emergency/house fund. We built our house 18 years ago and while that seems practically like YESTERDAY, I know that things are going to start needing replacing in the next 5-10 years on a regular basis. We already had to replace our septic system! That was $10,000 that I was NOT planning on spending and it absolutely DRAINED our emergency fund and we haven't built it back up again yet. We can already see that a few of our shingles will need to be replaced, possibly before next winter, although I think (fingers crossed) that we are about 10 years away from needing a totally new roof (at least on the main house.... the garage/playroom addition is about 6 years newer).

Keep getting estimates. With the economy still depressed, you should be able to find a contractor who needs the work and might be able to do it a bit cheaper. But use the BEST QUALITY shingles you can afford! THat could potentially get you an additional 10 years out of your roof! That is one upgrade I am SO GLAD we made when we built. Otherwise we'd be looking at a new roof in the next 2-4 years! :eek: Just in time for college bills!~

So, with all that, squeeze in t-ball practice and games for DS6 and a mini football camp for DS9 (run by a former local and former NFL player that donates everything through a foundation he started. btw~DS9 doesn't even play football, but wanted to go to the camp since they play flag football and not tackle lol), and I'm not so sure I'll have too much dis time this week. But, I am going to try :)

Glad to see the thread is still moving along quickly. It sounds like most people had a good first week. Just keep it up!

Jill

Busy, busy days for you!! Pop on when you can!

Good MOnday morning everyone.

I have one more MOnday before summer vacation. I think this is the last full MOnday. 3 more days of exams. Cleaning day today. I have spent a great deal of time cleaning out file cabinets so I am very good shape. Just papers to file today.

Question of the Day

This picture is in Key West

NOw that summer is here every talks about water. What do like "Ocean, RIver, Lake or Pool" Or do you have a fear of the water?

No fear of the water.... I can hold my own, but I certainly don't swim like DD does!

I've never been much of an ocean person. Probably a couple of reasons.... first of all, I live in New England! BRRRRR! Second of all, we only went to the ocean once each summer, for one day, when I was growing up. It was too long a drive and my Dad isn't a fan. So I never developed a strong attachment. And I HATE picnicking in the sand! Who wants to have that grit in their teeth from eating a picnic that has sand blown in it??? And I've NEVER seen the appeal of just going to the beach and laying there. Plus I'm a blue-eyed blonde. We would spend that one day each summer trying NOT to get sunburned!!

That said, I love going to the Cape for our time with my in-laws each summer. I love sitting on the beach visiting and chatting and taking walks. If it is super hot (or the water is warm) I will venture in and wade, but I hate the taste and feel of salt water on my skin and hair. I love the IDEA of the ocean, I like the sound of the waves and the smell of the water (but not at low tide;) ). I love walking on the beach and the warm sun. But I don't LIVE to go to the ocean.

I love lakes. We take the family vacation with my side at a lake each summer and I really love that. I love the calm water and the gentle wave sounds and the moderate temps of the water. I love the call of the loons in the evening and early morning. I love swimming without tasting salt or worrying about undertow or freezing!

Pools.... take em or leave em.... although I certainly spend plenty of time at them!! We have a large above-ground pool we put in when the kids were really little. I LOVE having it and wouldn't change a thing, but now that DD is so busy, we don't use it much. I can definitely foresee a time when the kids are gone and we dismantle the pool. It is too much work if it isn't being used. I don't mind swimming in pools.

Rivers.... pretty to look at... usually too cold to swim in. I've been white water rafting in Maine in May.... and it snowed! I would go rafting again if I had the opportunity.... but needs to be warm this time!

Great question and pretty picture!

*****************

Happy Monday friends! The weather men lied to me again! They are predicting a sunny day with temps up to 82 degrees. SO I sent DS to school in shorts.... and here I am feeling cold and pulling on a sweatshirt and looking at totally grey skies!! In fact, I have a load ready to hang out, but I'm afraid it will get rained on! Dang.

Yesterday's eating was good until I thought I could control myself with a FEW M&M's last night and ended up with far too many of them. Considering the food minefield I successfully negotiated yesterday afternoon, it was disappointing to fall apart so late! Oh well.... today is a new day.

I had a really busy weekend and it shows around the house.... I swear every room is in shambles! So I need to get off the computer and start cleaning! No scrapping for me today..... just cleaning and exercise. No DH home tonight, so no big dinner (since DD will be at swim at dinner time). Leftovers and sandwiches on the menu for tonight! :thumbsup2

DD is done with school on Wednesday! And DS has his 8th grade graduation Thursday night and his last day of school is Monday. Then it will really feel like summer!

I'll pop on again at lunch time!...................P

Hello all. I'm Jennifer, married, I homeschool my 2 DS(16,13),and help DH with our bus(custom A/V). Nothing too exciting. I' jumping back on board for the summer challenge.
Too many trips, parties, weekends off plan and I started back at where I was in Jan! So basically I just sorta went up and down the same lbs in spring.

My decided to stop by the grocery store and came hme with boxes of donuts,bagels,ice ream,ingreds for a very fattening,but delic,pasta dish I haven't made in ages,...all the things I haven't bought in ages while trying to eat healthier and lose weight. Lets just say it wasn't the bst weekend food wise.

QOTD...Well,I love the ocean,but only to where I can stand, we live a few miles from it now but when the boys weere little we were only a block and I would spend hours out in the ocean with each of them in a floatie seat, watching fish go by our feet...

We have a pool, which we are in now all the time,just love in in the summer. And we have the hillsboro canal runs across the back of the prop, seperating us from the next town and county. My neighbors on oth sides have docks that we go on, one is down low for fishing, the other is up high and big for relaxing, watching birds,turtles...

I am going to get on the TM now. That is what has been very lax this last few months. Then back to schoolwork. We take off so much time during the yr that we go for a good part of summer.

ok I'm going to go try for a run. I'm not really feeling it today but I was UP on the scale and today is my day off so I have no excuse. Shooting for 5 miles. THEN I really have to get some cleaning done and do something around here to start putting myself in a better headspace...wish me luck and i will let everyone know how it went.

Oh and who else has myfitnesspal? I'm worriedducks on there if anyone wants to fine me. Also i'm trinaweena on twittter if anyone is a twitter person, if you request a follow though please just tell me who you are because i wont approve anyone i dont know. And I'm on facebook http://www.facebook.com/katrina.rego where i talk about my weight loss stuff as well, so friend me if your on there

ok...RUN TIME NOW

Welcome back Jennifer!! Have you always home-schooled your boys? My cousin homeschools both of her girls since the beginning and her oldest graduated this year and has already started college classes! I'm so impressed that my cousin stuck with it for the whole 12 years!

ok I'm going to go try for a run.

I don't "twit" :lmao: and I'm not on MFP and I RARELY hit FB, so I won't be looking for you there. But I hope you have a successful run!

*****************

Okay.... after I left you all a bit ago I managed to clean all of the upstairs rooms.... both bathrooms and all three bedrooms. I didn't do a totally thorough job.... just sinks, toilets, and floors.... no showers or tubs. And in the bedrooms it was more just picking up, making beds, and vacuuming. Didn't get any dusting done. But it is a HUGE improvement.

I ended up putting the load of laundry in the dryer. It is just grey and cool outside. I have another load going and I will see what the skies look like when it is done.

Why do I ramble on and on about my housework? I don't think anyone cares and I don't blame you one bit! :lmao: Guess I"m just thinking out loud.

Lunch is a HUGE salad with a side dish of chick pea salad. I'll see if I am still hungry after that and if so, probably have a dish of fruit salad. I made a HUGE fruit salad for yesterday's Rainbow Girls event that didn't get eaten, so I took it home and we are enjoying it.... but I figure we gotta eat it quick so it doesn't go bad.

For exercise.... I will leave early to walk DS home from the bus stop and do two laps around the neighborhood before I stop for him. Not that I am one of those "hover" parents....he walks home alone plenty of the time when the weather permits.... but it is his last week of middle school and I wanna appreciate this time together!

DD is skipping Rainbow tonight to go to swim practice. Most Mondays she has to attend Rainbow and really hates to miss swim, but after spending most of yesterday at a Rainbow event, she doesn't feel so inclined to go today. Kind of too bad for me, since we have a neighbor who's DD is involved in Rainbow too and she usually gives DD a ride! oh well.

Okay..... what kind of recipe should I post first?? Snack? Main dish? Low carb? Vegetarian? I have a few milling about in my head. I'll try to get it posted before tonight!......................P

QOTD: I would have to pick swimming pool. I have horrible phobia about water I cannot see bottom of. It is all JAWS fault. I saw that on big screen when I was little girl and was scared for life. Every time I have even ventured close to water, a shark appears. Just moved to Jacksonville, FL a few months ago and what happens??? A shark attack on the local beach. I swear they are out to get me. I used to be able to handle rivers and lakes until I found out bull sharks can go into fresh water :eek: When I went to Universal Studios a few years back we were on the studio tour. It got to the JAWS part and guess who the shark came up in front off :scared1: my worst nightmare come to life. You never seen me jump so fast and so far.

Ugh After an amazing start last week, I can't get 2 good days in a row this week. Had a stellar day yesterday with good eating and great workout and then today just could not get myself away from eating eating eating. Have eaten more than double my daily calorie allotment according to MFP.:scared1: Seems that one false move today led to a landslide.:guilty:

BUT I will get back on tomorrow and let this day be a hiccough not a derailing.

I will look at the positive side in that I honestly kept track and was able to see what I did so I can learn from it rather than just try to ignore it. AND tomorrow is a new day where I can start fresh. 1 really bad day wont hurt too bad but 2 in a row is a definite no no for me.

Back on the wagon.......

Question of the Day

This picture is in Key West

NOw that summer is here every talks about water. What do like "Ocean, RIver, Lake or Pool" Or do you have a fear of the water?

Have a happy and healthy day.

I enjoy water and grew up on the Y swim team starting at age 6. I enjoy being in pools the most. I like laying around the beach but only go in the ocean a bit. I want to be able to see my toes. As soon as I can't, I start to panic. I never go in lakes and I enjoy rafting and kayaking on rivers, but won't go in them. I think as I got older and starting thinking about what's in the water, I decided I didn't need to get in :lmao:

Jill DS is responsible for taking his pill. I can never remember so he just takes it at the same time DS10 takes his ADD meds in the morning, and then again before he goes to bed.

Nice. That's pretty responsible. DS6 wants liquid antibiotics still, so I have to remember to give it to him. We finished today, so I don't have to think anymore.

My bowling centerpieces. They were a huge hit!

I'll take anything! I'm not picky...but my kids are :rotfl: Thanks for offering to do this. I check the recipe thread every now & then, but haven't been on for awhile. I think I'll head over and check it out.

Oh, I usually do make charts for meds. Especially when Dh gives am and I give pm or anything like that. It lets us know what's going on since some days we don't see or talk to each other until after the kids are in bed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Archery camp was a success. DS9 was so excited to hit the targets and even hit a balloon. Tomorrow they shoot at 3d targets. Then they get to try to hit marked targets to win candy and money! I'm glad he loves this, but I wish I could find some place closer to us. DS9 also got into the orthodontist and they put on a thicker wire, so hopefully it won't pop out again anytime soon.
DS6 and I hit up Target while DS9 was at camp. We only get to Target once a month (if that) since the closest is about 20-25 minutes away. I was so excited to buy a pair of shorts a size smaller! Whoohoo!
The rest of today will be spent loading up my car/wagon/minivan (Chrylser Pacifica...I don't know what it is lol) and taking garage sale stuff to my mom's. I'm hoping to take everything else tonight. I'm also hoping DH will keep the boys at home with him while I stay at my mom's to finish pricing a few things and organizing. My poor boys have been dragged all over the last week and would probably love to have a daddy day.
Tomorrow we have archery camp and then back home to sign the boys up for our summer park camp (6 week program). They are pretty excited and this will be their first year. DS9 just said it will be so nice to be with his friends and kids his own age and not with his little brother all the time. I am hoping this camp will reduce any bickering that occurs between them since they will not be together 24/7 all summer long.
I guess I'm going to start hauling stuff down from our 3rd floor so DH can start loading it up when he gets home any minute now. I hope to check back later. Have a great day!
Izzie Update: We went to see our PCP this morning. Got in at 9:40 this morning. Ear is looking much better. He put her on an antibiotic to be on the safe side saying it would also help with any blood that may still be in the ear area. She was so happy to get the tape and gauze off of her face and hair. We will go back one more time to see our PCP before our vacation to do one more check. Can't miss work tomorrow so that's why I didn't make appt with surgeon. I know our PCP well and if he saw a problem we would have been sent to someone else right away. We went shopping with my parents the rest of the morning and early afternoon and then picked up Ash. She's going to dancing but only watching today. It is the last class before dress rehearsal for the recital so the director of the centre wants her there to at least watch and see how the finale is being done since she missed last week. I was perfectly fine with that and I agreed!
Heading out shortly. I just rubbed 4 pork butts for pulled pork for the next few nights. We can have it on pizza, in wraps or on buns or on nachos. I'm hoping I have all the food we need until we go away. I bought lots of quick things. If time I will hop on the elliptical tonight. I might put one in the crock pot tonight and then another one in the morning before I leave for work.
Have a great night!
My latest Sparkpeople blog:
HALLIJUAH! I'm finally getting help from doctors!
I'm going to give the history of this so it makes more sense for those people who haven't been in the loop.
The Friday before Memorial Day I went in to see my primary doctor. I had brought with me test results that my old OB/GYN did in 2010. The old doctor basically told me everything was fine and the only thing that concerned her was my high cholesterol. She also said I needed to lose some weight and then hopefully my cycle would come back.
My new doctor here in FL looked them over and told me, 'Kristina your hormones are all out of wack. You have barely any estrogen and twice the amount of testerone." I asked her bottom line what she was telling me, "You more then likely have PCOS. I'm referring you to a reproductive endocrinologist."
Well after talking with my mom and finding out she had it I started to get a little more worried. I talked with friends who had it and were successful in having children. I spent that entire weekend researching PCOS and finding out in my research that I had almost every symptom!
I called my doctor's office that following Tuesday (after the Monday holiday) and got the name and nmber to a specialist. Long story short after 2 weeks of getting nowhere with this specialist I called my doctor back. I told them I wanted someone else because these clowns hadn't returned a phone call in almost 2 weeks!
My doctor's office called me back this morning and after a short phone call to the specialist assured me that my information was being faxed over. I waited an hour and called the specailist office and firmly told them that information was being faxed over from my doctor and that i needed to make an apt. I had been messing around with this for over 2 weeks and was getting very frustrated.
The lady transferred me to the lady who deals with first time patients. I explained everything and she got everything set up for next Monday. The awesome part is 1) its in Orlando (MUCH closer then the office in Lake Mary) and I'm seeing the ONLY female doctor in the practice AND she specializes in PCOS!
So hopefully come Monday of next week I'll have a diagnosis and a plan of action to treat this condition so that I'm able to start the journey to having another child.
It was much easier just to copy and paste then to write the entire thing out again.
Hoping to do some strength training today but other then that nothing else really going on. I've been on an emotional high since this morning. We're having steaks for dinner (spent 100 bucks at Schwans on food). :) I also ordered their single microwavable brownies that I want to try for dessert.
Now, I'm off to make some replies
Shawn-so nice to see you again! :thumbsup2
I'm just lurking this challenge--no time for posts and barely time for reading! But, Buffy the decorations are adorable; Tracey, I am so sorry about your friend's loss; Trina, I hope you get your groove back; Christopher, just keep swimming; can't remember who, but somebody was tired--if iron or vitamins don't work be sure to have your thyroid checked. Hypothryroidism makes you sluggish and cold. For the athletic kids with slow heartrates, DH has that, too. His resting heartrate is 42! It always freaks out the nurse checking him.
I cannot wait for school to be out. DS2 has 2 more days and I only have 1 day I could sub (but nobody misses the last day of school--so I am considering myself free!) DS1 graduated Friday and although it rained the entire ceremony, it was still good. I survived the all night party and he said it was a lot of fun. High praise from a teenager!
I am doing just all right this challenge. Too many parties with too much junk food over the weekend. But now everything is eaten so off to better choices. Got my 3 mile walk in with my girlfriend--and another one who's been out of town for months was back. Those miles just flew by! Hope to get a run in tonight. I've been pretty much hit or miss (mostly miss) for the last 6 weeks or so.
Gotta run. :hug: to those who need it. I'll be reading. popcorn::
I've been keeping up with all of the posts but haven't had time to post myself. Life has been crazy with the show getting ready to close, the tony awards last night and trying to find a new job. I've put some feelers out and gotten two responses!:banana: The industry is really small so two is amazing. One was from a supervisor who will need people in July and one was from another wardrober with advice. I want to switch from theatre to flim this summer because the hours are better and no one in theatre has any openings until september. I'm wearing a fit media band so while I haven't been able to workout as much as I would like at least I can make sure I have a calorie deficit everyday. Two more weeks and everything should calm down.
Hey guys, sorry I have been MIA.
Well echo show my DD still has a PFO...for those of you non-medical folks :confused3 it means the hole between the 2 upper chambers of her heart that is supposed to be there while still a fetus and close soon after you are born, never closed once she was born.
Have some follow-ups todo with a pediatric cardiologist but typically they don't do anything with it. They do have her taking a baby aspirin every day but that is it for now unless she continues to have fainting spells. We saw our doc today and he said everything else looks good, not concerned about her having a stroke but keep her on the aspirin for now.
Long weekend with baseball but did pretty good tracking....not much exercise outside of the 60 trips up and down out stairs doing laundry and a little pool time (well I floated on a raft mostly :rotfl:)
Have a TON of reading to catch up on
OK, did anyone else get a chuckle out of this?!?!? :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
Tracey I'm glad Izzie is feeling better!!
Jen I'm glad you got an answer. So they won't do surgery to close it? Will it ever close on it's own?
Trina my name is the same on MFP as it is here.
Kristina I'm glad you finally got an appt. I hope all goes well!!
Jill with the Lymes the Dr put DS11 on an adult dose of antibiotic. He would love to still have the pink stuff but he needed the big meds.
Jill, Pam, and Linda thanks for the kind words about the decorations. I worked really hard on them and I did make them so we can break them down and use them again. Hopefully they will last at least until DS11 is done bowling for the middle school.
Christopher I'm joining you on the side of the road. We will wait patiently playing rock-paper-scissors until the wagon picks us back up. Then we are stapling our butts to the middle of the wagon!!
Victoria Yay on the 2 potential job offers!! That is great!
Anybody else I missed I hope y'all are having a great start to the week. Let's try to finish strong!!
Pamela If you could come up with something for lunch that would be a great menu item. I need to save $$ so I told the kids one lunch out every 2 weeks, and I'm not making 5 different meals. We will make the same thing for everyone. So that would be an awesome start!!
***************************
Not so hot here today. I am over my calories and yet to have dinner. Curse you Five Guys for being so good!!! I really wish the had a vegetarian option besides a veggie sandwich. Or turkey burgers, geez throw a girl a bone every once in a while!
But I'm not going to eat dinner. I don't feel hungry so I'm just going to drink my water and go to bed. I'd rather be pretty hungry tomorrow morning and eat a good breakfast than eat now and then convince myself I need to eat breakfast even though I don't feel hungry.
With the walking around I did today, I will come out under calorie for the day but just barely.
Buffy: I LOVE to scrap as well however don't get the chance much. My Gypsy is dead and I can't find the cords :headache: but still have my Cricut
You centerpieces look amazing!
Tracey: thoughts and prayers for your friend....there is nothing worse.
Hope Izzie is feeling better...sounds horribly painful:guilty:
Let's see: too catch up
I think I do pretty good with the fruits and veggies because they are all FREE on WW :cool1: so when I am hungry or in a snacking mood I reach for one of those
Water: love them all!!! Ocean would be first because then I would be on a beach but love just a relaxing float in a pool as well.
Really trying to stay OP but still have not gotten any exercise in and am STARVING right now! Not sure why I have been so hungry today.
Well Zach wants to go out and swim so off I go for awhile
Here we celebrate our progress and recognize our superstars.
Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer Challenge Week 1!
This week’s group loss = 74.1 pounds!
Average percentage of weight lost 0.84 %
Total group weight loss so far 74.1 pounds!
AWESOME!
Retention Rate (compared to the 58 participants we had sign up for our start week on June 1st)
84% (this includes the Losers, Maintainers and Excused people!). Let's keep sending those weights people!
Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet. (btw if its been more than 1 week between weigh-ins, then the % loss is divided by the number of weeks, to keep everybody on the same basis)
Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week 1?
The WISH Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer 2012 Challenge Week 1 Superstars!!
#10 - 1.26% - minandmick
#9 - 1.31% - Holly324
#8 - 1.32% - 6ofus2
#7 - 1.33% - Twingle
#6 - 1.49% - 4holidays
#5 - 1.56% - thunderbird1
#4 - 2.03% - disappearing otter
#3 - 2.92% - LovingDisney2012
#2 - 3.36% - ougrad86
and now
The WISH Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer 2012 Challenge Week 1 Biggest Loser is:
#1 - 4.19% - D73
Quote from Dare2Dream: How is your week going? Are you OP (on program)? Are you exercising? Drinking that water? You know what to do to make the magic happen. Get on the wagon. We are all here to help you on the journey. We can do this one day at a time. One bite at a time.
Have a healthy day!
Congratulations D73!!!
Thanks to ohMom-Molli for these clippies. They were used for a previous BL but we can recycle. Don't they look great!
Buffy: Glad I made you laugh! I'm in need of lots of laughs to get me through the next 11 days!
Got 3 massages tomorrow morning and 20 more to go after that! My days off are going to be very needed. I was excited to get my favorite foot massage lotion today at BB&B and be able to use my 20% off! I need to get to Trader Joe's and get my lavender oil on Wednesday if I have time and order my regular oil tonight.
Started helping my DH clean out his office downstairs. He was doing bills while I tried organizing some things for him. Threw out a few old phones and such.
We got our Universal tickets today and I realized that Brian ordered 2 child tickets and Ash no longer qualifies as a child, actually hasn't for 2 years. OOPS! We'll just upgrade when we get there. I also transferred our reward points over to our rewards card so that's also taken care of. I'm really starting to feel more excitement today now that I know that Izzie is going to be ok.
Took her 2nd dose of meds tonight and she put a cold compress on her ear for 15 minutes. I think that did some good.
Time to put those pork butts in the crock pot so they will be done in the morning and I can start the next ones in the morning!
