Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer Challenge

Ok so since I have already been posting here figured I could do a short intro...
My name is Jen, wife to 1 and mom to 3. This is my first challenge however I have been chating on the BL Princess race thread for a while. I would love to drop 30 lbs during the challenge. I have a conf that I am presenting at in Sept in Aneheim....and you know what lives there so I have a few reasons to drop the weight.

I have walked a few 5K's but would really like to get to a point where I can run one and eventually do a Disney race.

Am excited about the challenge and looking forward to getting up an running!

Good afternoon friends! So happy that this challenge is officially under way!

I've got a busy work week on the calendar, so I won't be here to chat as much as I would like, but I promise I'm still here! I'll try to catch up here a bit now, but I'm sitting by the phone waiting for DD to call for pick up at school, so I may have to dash soon. BBL.........P

Ok....caught up quick! WELCOME to all the newbies and "glad you're back" to all my old BL buddies! I was talking with DD this morning about how happy I am that the summer challenge is starting up! I am so amazed that I have such a great group of friends literally around the world! And I love that we are all here to support each other as we all take this journey side by side! And we all have our love of Disney in common.

For those of you who know that I am always reading weight loss and healthy eating books, anyone else ever read "You on a diet" by Dr. Oz? I bought it used a while ago and finally grabbed it from the pile to read today at work. Interesting so far.....made it to chapter 4.

Okay....DD just called so I need to be behind the wheel again in 5 minutes. TTYL.......P

I am so excited to see that so many of you plan to participate in Healthy Habits! I am making it my goal to earn a lot more points this challenge. Please remember that it is participation that counts. You can chose to focus on a particular mini-challenge or a couple of them if you WISH. I know something I struggle with is eating enough fruits and veggies, so on a week where I make eating them a mini-challenge, that might be the only point I earn. The purpose of Healthy Habits is not to earn every point (though it's wonderful if you do), but to develop life-long habits that are beneficial to your health. I also don't focus on just your physical health. I try to do something each week that helps your emotional health. The Summer Challenge will also have some mini-challenges that focus on organizing and financial health. I am a huge advocate for all-around health and try to incorporate as much into Healthy Habits as possible. I hope that you find the mini-challenges helpful!

Thank you CC for doing this again. :goodvibes

I have to agree ... on the weeks I participated in HHs, I lost weight. I need to stay focused on the weekly habits.

Can't wait for the challenge to begin. The last two weeks of not being accountable have not been good for me. I need to get back on track.

Glad to have you on board with us again!

CC ride my butt!! I need to put more effort into the HH's.

Will do! Same for me!

Hi everyone. I hope that it is not too late to join this challenge.

Welcom!

Hi CC :) you can call me Jen :) or just cut and paste leeandstacismom LOL whichever is easier to do. Shoot in my family we have learned to answer to whatever they are calling. Nobody gets anybody's name correct. It has to be genetic as my toddler has already displayed the family trait.

Welcome Jen!

CC your Healthy Habits sound like lots of fun. I am looking forward to participating in those. As soon as I am able to PM I will try and send you an idea I just thought of to see if you think it would work.

Looking forward to your PM!

Hi,

I would like to sign up for the new challenge. Towards the end of the Spring challenge I had a few issues but with a major holiday in 12 weeks I really need to get back in to gear.

So here I am :wave2::wave2:

Hi! Do you go by Sue?

Hi Everyone! I figured its almost June 1, so its time for my introduction. :goodvibes

My name is Renee and this will be my 2nd challenge. I started the spring challenge on Team Donald, but fell far off the wagon in mid March when we moved and took a 3 week vacation. I'm ready and willing to finally hop back on and get this weight off. I want to lose a total of 30lbs, but my goal for this challenge is 15. I am doing C25K and am just finished week 3 day 1. I am hoping to do the Princess half in 2013, so I have a long way to go. princess:

I am a stay at home mom and DH is in the Navy. We have 2 kids that live with us full time and 2 that we usually get during the summer. This year my DSS will not be coming, since he is struggling with school and has to take summer classes. But my DNiece (15) is coming in July, so I will still have 4 kids this summer. :grouphug: We recently moved from Maryland to Louisiana and are trying to adjust to living in the heat of the South.

I can not wait for the Summer challenge to get rolling!

I cannot wait either! Glad to have you! It is hot in CT right now. I can only imagine what it must be like in LA.

Thank you for doing this again CC! I definitely need to stick with HH this time around! As soon as I stopped participating last challenge, I stopped meeting my water goals and completely stopped tracking my foods! :sad2: So I am going to try harder this challenge! I loved your themes last challenge!!! Looking forward to them again!!

Good to hear! I have been debating whether or not to include drinking water as a mini-challenge because people tend to drink more in the heat of the summer, but your post answered my question. Thanks!

CC, thanks for doing HH again! I started strong on the last challenge and then fell off at the end. I'll try again this time - they definitely help me stay on track!

XO
Liz

Yes! More participants!

my lil princess keeps changing her nickname on me so that doesn't help. Two almost three and she keeps me on my toes trying to figure out what the name of the moment is.

We love to tell stories about our kids. Now, I don't have any, but I can share some great baby-sitting stories. I'm 27 and I think kids just make everything better. (Confusing sometimes, but better.)

Ok so since I have already been posting here figured I could do a short intro...

Hmm...we may have to come up with a way to differentiate between all the Jen's. Speaking of which, where is Nancy?

It is so nice to see all our new and returning challengers! :goodvibes The Summer Challenge is one of my favorites. It's just such a nice time of year. :flower:

I'm going to go ahead and post a warm up question since we are all anxious to get started. :yay:

Raise your hand if you want to go to the Happiest Place on Earth as we start our Sizzlin' Hot Summer Challenge! :wave2:

Yep, we're on our way to healthy living! :yay:

Oh . . . um . . . did you think I was going to say we're going to DisneyWorld? :confused3 Okay, let's see if we can manage to do both. :teeth:

But before we get started we had better introduce ourselves to our fellow travelers. :cool2:

Did anyone else ever go on the America the Beautiful attraction at Disneyland? It was a circle-vision movie, similar to the Reflections of China movie at Epcot. Although the attraction never moved, many people thought it did because of the way it was filmed, so the host always asked you to introduce yourself to the people standing around you, in case you needed to grab onto them.

Well, during this challenge we will all be counting of the support of our fellow challengers.

Intro QOTD (Question of the Day) 5/30/12: Please introduce yourself.

I am Lisa and I will be your coach this week. I've been doing the BL challenges since 2009. I'm 51, married and have a sometimes cranky teen son. I will be reaching my goal weight later this year. It's taken me longer than I thought it would to get there but each and every challenge, year after year, I end up weighing less than I started. On Sunday I finished running my 4th half marathon in 12 months. I've made lifelong friends and been to WISH meets at both Disneyland and DisneyWorld. I've done things that I never dreamed possible because of these challenges and WISH who gave me the courage to start. :teeth:

A big, BL thank you to our hostess and WIN! coach, Janis, to Sue, our weightkeeper, and to CC our HH coach (who helped me put together this first week's questions). :flower3:

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone and to a great summer challenge! :beach:

A word about coaching. We could not do a challenge without the help of all our coaches. :goodvibes Coaches act as hostesses for the thread, post the QOTD (Question of the Day), do replies and keep our conversation moving. It is always nice to have a different coach each week so we can have lots of different perspectives on this journey that we are on together. We even have an archive with old questions that you can refer to http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=35031934&postcount=1 Please consider coaching for a week and send Janis a PM if you are interested. :flower3:

Intro QOTD (Question of the Day) 5/30/12: Please introduce yourself.

Hello all.

I am Christopher and this will be my second challenge. I did really well on the challenge from January through March losing nearly 50 pounds. Then I went on back to back Disney Cruises which were wonderful. I managed to keep my exercise going and returned with only 2 pounds gained. But what I lost was my solid motivation to stick to a program. So I managed to basically maintain and nearly reach my final weight goal for the last challenge but did not quite make it.

So I really look forward to this challenge to help me with the motivation and get myself moving downward again.

I am 38, American but living in Switzerland where I am a music teacher at an International School. As many of the schools are finished in the USA I still have another month and will not finish until 29 June.

I am a former cast member of WDW and have a real love for the parks and all things Disney. My screen name is derived from the fact that I was born on the 50th anniversary of the founding of the company. So I am sure that if I were to look at my red blood cells there would be little ears on them. My blood is Disney through and through.

I really look forward to this challenge. I was a coach for the Donalds the week before the merge of the last challenge and I have thrown my hat in the ring with a PM to Janis for week 3. I am also planning to use the My Fitness Pal as my tracking program so if you use it too, I would love to have you as a friend there too.

Looking forward to be Sizzlin Hot at the end of this challenge! Bring it on!

Christopher

Intro QOTD (Question of the Day) 5/30/12: Please introduce yourself.

Funny story, I AM going to the Happiest Place on Earth at the end of this challenge!!

Hi!! :yay: My name is Kaiti, and this is my third (I think!) challenge and I can't wait to get started. I've not lost too much weight so far, but I haven't been as faithful as I should have been. I really want to change that this time around. I'm 26, and work in an operating room in the anesthesia department. I freaking love my job, and can't wait to go back to school for nursing. My plan is to get my RN, and move to Florida to be closer to Disney....and my DBF is in total agreement with it. He only enables me, I love it! At then end (or so) of this challenge, I'll be heading to WDW to be in the Tower of Terror 10miler- my first big race! I can't wait to go and the closer it gets, the more excited I am

****
I'm a little excited and wanted to share- at my last weigh-in with WW this past Saturday, I hit 11.2lbs lost! I'm very excited to be in the 170's right now, but I don't plan on staying there long! I want to be at 173 by June 16th weigh-in. That averages a little over a pound a week for me, which is pretty attainable for me. I also have to get more fresh veggies into my diet. For some reason, it's like I forget they exist...go figure :confused3 But I love them when I get them, I can't get enough! Does anyone else have this issue?

Intro QOTD (Question of the Day) 5/30/12: Please introduce yourself.

Hi Everyone! My name's Katie. I am 22 years old from NH. I am married to my best friend, Justin, and mom to 3 wonderful kids - My stepdaughter, Carley, 5 - my son, Camden, 4 - and my son, Colton, 8 1/2 months.

I am a stay at home mom, and attend college online for Criminal Justice. 5 more years and I'll have my JD to become a practicing attorney :thumbsup2

So looking forward to this challenge. Ready to stop the excuses and lose all this baby weight! If I don't my kids may be 30 before I fit into my old jeans again. :rotfl:

Oh - and I get to go to the happiest place on earth in September :) Taking the kids for their birthdays - all three are in September - It's a surprise. Hardest secret to keep!!! So let's get healthy!

Buffy!! Your family at the bottom cracked me up! hahaha!! Now I only have half of what you have, but I can totally relate to the husband, the oldest child (except mine is a girl who will be 13 in a month) and the 10 year old son!! Love it :rotfl2:
Lynda

Hola!! My name is Lynda and this is my second challenge. I lost 11 lbs in the first one but have since gained 2 lbs back :sad2: I am married to a soldier and have a daughter who will be 13 in a month and a 10 year old son. This month will be a huge challenge for me. We are moving the end of June and will be staying with family for a month until my husband finishes his drill sergeant time and then in August we'll head to Michigan for recruiter duty. Fun stuff!! Also I am finishing up my capstone class for Paralegal Studies and will have my bachelors degree by the end of the month!! Actually the last day of class ends the day before we leave here! Craziness!! :woohoo:
So, lots going on, but I loved doing this challenge last time and I look forward to joining you all again!! Success to all!!

Hi I'm Amanda or Sissy. This will be my first BL challenge. My story is I have always been overweight. I lost about 45 pounds to join the Air Force then pretty much gained 20 back right away. I was okay at that weight (185) for about three years. Then the end of 2010-end of 2011 I gained 30 pounds. I left the AF in November and moved to Texas where my then fiance is stationed. I weighted 216 pounds when I got here. We got married in February and I started noticing the scale going down after we got home from the wedding/honeymoon. I wasn't trying to lose weight but having so much less stress in my life and eating at home more was the trick. I lost about 15 pounds in no time. Seeing the weight loss, I then decided to be more active and get down to a healthy weight. I tried WW but it just isn't for me. I am now on Nutrasystem and enjoying it. I am learning about portion control and getting used to eating less. I have lost 7 pounds so far. I don't work so I have plenty of time to workout everyday. My DH and I are doing C25K with our first race together on June 23. I am doing yoga several times a week and am doing some strength training. I am trying to add in more and more of both, I also do other cardio besides C25K. My goal for this challenge is to lose 1 pound a week so 12 pounds total. That should put me at about 180 and hopefully my old jeans and dresses will fit again! I also turned 30 this year and that motivated me to make some changes. My 20s were a pretty turbulent time and I was very happy to turn 30 and start new things along with my new decade. My ultimate goal is to put on my wedding dress on our first anniversary and have it fall off!!

Intro QOTD (Question of the Day) 5/30/12: Please introduce yourself.

My name is Jessica and I am 27 years old. I have a DH and no kids yet. (Although I sometimes feel like a mom when he has his friends over) This is the first challenge that I am competing in and I could not be more excited.
I currently live in So California about 15 minutes from the happiest place on earth. I work full time at a bank while my husband is going to school for his Bachelors in Business.
That's all I can think of for now, but if you want to know more please ask.

I really look forward to getting to know all of you and making some friends while on this journey!
