Here's my opinion of the Biggest Loser Erie race:
Expo~I was actually disappointed in the expo. It didn't seem like there we any vendors other than The Biggest Loser. Since it is a private race series, I understand not having others at the expo, though. I picked up my race bib (didn't have to show ID at all for anything which I thought was extremely odd), got my shirt, signed up to win the BodyMedia armband, bought a magnet, and left. We were only there about 30 minutes. When we were there, Pam had just come on stage, but I didn't feel the need to stay for the speakers.
Race~I thought it was EXTREMELY ORGANIZED! The email that was sent the week ahead was very informative. They pretty much told people to get there early because of traffic. We pulled into beach 11 parking at 6:00 on the dot and had no issues with getting there. The parking was well done & organized as well. We used the bathroom and went back to the car to ditch our sweatshirts (yikes it was chilly to start). We got in the start area near our pace girl right around 6:40. I was a tad upset that they delayed the start because my legs were tightening up

Anyhow, the race was super organized. I enjoyed seeing the water stations every mile. I didn't need them every mile, but I loved having people cheering me on. I also thought all the volunteers in between the water stations were so encouraging. I thought it was great how music was playing every so often as well. There was such a positive energy & vibe that I think I smiled and laughed more in those 13.1 miles than I have in any other race. This is a great race series for the elite athlete as well and newbies that are just starting out. I think they made everyone feel comfortable and welcomed. I will probably sign up for the race again next year (as long as my legs will take me those 13 miles).
On a side note, my brother in law had a finish goal of 1 hour 45 minutes. He ended up PRing in the half yesterday with a time of 1 hour 38 minute. He actually won his age group of 40-44, so that made it even more exciting!
I want to add that we stayed for awhile after the race to just hang out. DSs were playing on the playground and we were just relaxing. DH had parked between beach 11 and beach 10, so we went back to the car and drove to beach 10 so I could change. We headed back the way the course finished (like in reverse) and we saw a woman around mile 12 still going. The ambulance was behind her and a volunteer on a bike was riding next to her. She was obviously the last walker and she was still going, even though traffic was opened up and she was on the side of the road. What an inspiration!
I would highly suggest doing one of the races in this series
