Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Team Challenge for Losers and Maintainers!!!

Good morning everyone!

Very small loss this week. Wouldn't normally make me nervous but with only 4 1/2 weeks until vacation and being so close to my goal I'm going crazy! Ugh, deep breaths. I can do this! I'm just going to contribute it eating too little and going slack on the exercise, both which are true. Put on a t-shirt I bought at a concert last semester and it is so loose on me. Then put on a pair of capris which I used to not even be able to wear last semester! :woohoo:

Got 30 Day Shred in last night, should be done with level 2 by the end of this next week!

Not much planned this weekend, which is nice after this past crazy stressful week. My mother and I are going to some thrift stores to see if we can find some cute clothes or goodies. (I love thrift stores. One we go to has an entire section of Disney things, I spent $50 there last time.)

Then I'll just be editing photos, reading, and getting my workout on!

Hope you all have a fabulous day!

rememberthemagic98Melinda, feel free to join me....I'll work on winning the lottery.... AWESOME! lol

Tracey, thanks for coaching! Great QOTD...I am pretty vigilant about trying to plan ahead for eating out. For restaurants like Subway, Potbelly, Moe's, and California Tortilla, I use the calculator (although by now I have my go-tos there) - I love that you can customize your meal to get the points/calories/etc you want. If a restaurant doesn't have a calculator, I look for straight-up nutritional info and make choices based on that. If they don't even have that, I try to read the menu closely before I go and line up 2-3 choices so I don't have to worry about figuring out good choices while I'm enjoying friends and family, too!

One of my old tricks (I don't use it as much now that I'm telecommuting most of the time) is this:

For the restaurants near my office, I went to the websites and built 3-4 meals at each place. For my current job, this was Subway, Au Bon Pain, Chop't, and a couple of local places. I wrote up an index card for each restaurant that included the meal specifics (hold the cheese, type of dressing, etc.) and the WW points for each. Then, when I went out to lunch, I brought the cards and was always ready with good choices. It took a little time to do the research and write up the cards, but it was so worth it to have them ready when I needed them!

Liz That is a great strategy!

Hi all,

Quick post from work! I'll be your coach starting tomorrow so I will be replying more the next week and try to use mutiquote again! I don't always have a lot of time to reply but I will do my best this coming week.

Stayed the same as yesterday on the scale but I'm ok with it. Ending up being a busy day. At work now, going to run home and feed the kids lunch and then come back to work to give a massage to my hair dresser and then go back home to do some raking and then come back again at 4 for a 30 minute massage and then get the house ready for our sleepover visitor tonight.

I did 50 on the elliptical this morning and plan on at least that much more later today and will be raking for an hour as well.

Have a great Thursday and make healthy choices!

QOTD: I have been really trying to watch my calories. I did have one small homemade pretzel yesterday when we made them. I am drinking tons of water and getting in my workouts. I'm going to really watch everything that goes in my mouth for the next two months so I will look and feel great on my cruise and during my trip to Disney!

TTFN :tigger:

Welcome to coaching Tracey! Congrats on on all the exercise!

Do you look at menus before you go out to eat? What is your favorite restaurant to eat at that has the best healthy choices?

Watching the Bruins game. I ended up going to soccer practice to help supervise though I ended up walking a mile with a friend as he didn't have as many kids as he was expecting. I may treat myself to a small adult drink tonight. I am a little hungry but trying to keep myself under control tonight so I don't blow all that I accomplished this week. According to my tracker that I use, I consumed 1360 calories and burned 1080 calories. My net calories is 280. My calories to lose weight is 1256. Hoping I can hit a new low for this challenge tomorrow.

Have a good night!

There is a local restaurant here the has burritos that are pretty good and made out of fresh local veggies, when available. I have my go-to salad there as well, and I usually get that, no dressing. It has salsa on it, and thats enough. YUM!

Tigger813 What do you use to calculate your calories to lose weight?

I am glad to announce I am no longer sick! I think it's been about a month and a half. I did an hour on the elliptical-- all my weights at the former levels I was at except for arms, and I don't think it'll take me too long to get back to where I was. Then I wasn't completely exhausted the rest of the day! Which is what happened every time I have worked out the last 3 weeks. The coughing's even petered down to almost nothing. I went shopping today after working out and found some great stuff at Grocery Outlet. I love going there--it's like a treasure hunt every time...and I got some Mederma and great makeup deals at Walgreens. The Mederma's for the scars left by the radio falling off the headboard on me...It healed pretty well but I have a lot of confidence in the stuff-- it really helped my stretch marks. I'm kind of glad I was sick in a way because it made me realize how lucky to be as healthy as I am every day-- I have no excuses to hold me back anymore. Froze the rest of my awesome birthday cake today in pieces, polished off the last of the birthday take home and now there's no more birthdays and holidays for quite awhile. Just Mothers Day in a month and that doesn't leave a lot of candy cake or excess food around. My daughter is progressing well with her plans moving back here and my parents are on vacation for well over a month. Seems everyone is doing allright for themselves excepting the cats right now with the awful weather and boredom. Clean up is extra effort right now too--it :cat:'s ok though they're cute and some of my favorite people. ;) Gotta get everyone ready for flea season-- I'm going to take Harvey to the vet and see what else I can do for him other than frontline...

50'sJayne :cool1::thumbsup2 So glad you are no longer sick!! YAY!! And congrats on the workouts! Keep it up, girl! There is no stopping you!

Good Friday morning everyone.

We made it to Friday. Three weeks from today my younger son graduates from college. When did I get so old?

My mom's eye surgery went well yesterday. Today she is having something removed from her back. Thanks for all the good thoughts everyone has sent here.

Yoga went well last night and my shoulder doesn't feel too bad this morning. We shall see how it does today.

Thanks belledreamer for being our coach last week.

Hello Tracey for being our coach this week.

I have been trying not to eat out too much. When we do go out we usually go to Applebee's. I do like some of their weight watchers menu and they have some items with calorie counts on them.

What does everyone have planned for this weekend?

It is pretty quiet here this weekend. I don't have anything planned for tonight so I am hoping to quilt. Saturday we have tickets to see a local production of the Wizard of Oz. I got these tickets for free since I made a coat for the production. Many of the other costumes I worked on 10 years ago. Our local high school made the costumes and then sold them the following year to this group. It will be fun to see some of the costumes that I worked on so long ago. I guess sometime this weekend I do need to go grocery shopping. I may try to fit in a trip to my quilt shop.

Good luck for everyone on their weigh in.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Congrats on your younger son graduating college. That is aweosme! And I'm so glad your mom's eye surgery went well, and I hope that her back procedure goes well today. Have fun at Wizard of Oz. How fun to see the costumes you worked on so long ago! I hope you make it to the quilt shop. I absolutely adore quilting! I haven't done it in a few years, but I have an area of my house set aside to turn into my quilting room. I have a few sewing machines (two are in storage, I think, and one at least is in a garage here). I need to dig that out and take it to get serviced. There is a quilt shop within walking distance of my house that I have never been to! I have lived in this house over two years, and I keep telling myself when I get my sewing room set up I'll go. I'm kind of saving it as a treat, or reward, for getting my sewing room up and running. Otherwise, if I go there, I know I'll buy all the quilt stuff and never make anything. :)

---------------------
I'm happy to report I am at my lowest weight since March 24! I hope no more of this yo-yoing! I have a 5K tomorrow morning. All my kids are doing it with me! I hope to PR, but we shall see.

Do you look at menus before you go out to eat? What is your favorite restaurant to eat at that has the best healthy choices?

I didn't used to but now I do.
DH and the kids went to Buffalo Wild Wings a few weeks ago, and thankfully I had had a really late lunch. There was absolutely nothing on the menu I could eat. Wait, I take that back, I could have had the celery sticks, yum. :rolleyes: I mean granted I do appreciate the fact that they have the calorie content right on the menu but really, there was nothing to eat. Also they don't list the calories on the site, it's only on the menu in the restaurant so you're already there before you can decide.
Right now my safe place is Panera. I can get napa almond chicken salad, no bread, an apple, and a cup of chicken noodle soup for 324 calories. 1/2 the time I don't even eat the apple.
We also don't eat at a lot of chain places so it's hard because the Mom and Pop pasta place down from the base doesn't have calorie content on their menu. I just order the small eggplant parm with sauce on the side and a to-go container so I can divide it in half right away and spoon sauce on it. And I avoid dessert and the garlic bread.

Congrats on the new low Melinda!! I hope you have a great race tomorrow!!

I need a woot! woot! While I have maintained weight for 3 weeks now (Ergh) I am wearing a Large shirt!!!! I bought 2 at JCpenney this week to see how they would fit and they are awesome! I'm going to go back and get a few more colors. And I'm wearing my 14 jeans from AE and they weren't tight when I put them on this morning! Still have my stupid muffin top, but I don't care! LOL

Wanted to go on some kind of run with DH tomorrow but found out DS15 has a meet at Trinity College at the crack of dawn so we are heading to that instead. Then we get rain for like 3 days. So I guess I'm chained to the dreadmill this weekend. That's ok, I'll live. Kids have a 1/2 day today so I'm going to book to the green get a quick 2 laps in and grab kidlets. DS11 has afterschool gym at the public school as well so I'm thinking of hitting the trails there while I wait for him.

Congrats to all of our losers this week!

Hi all! I'm Tracey, your coach for the coming week. I try and post the question the night before!

Do you look at menus before you go out to eat? What is your favorite restaurant to eat at that has the best healthy choices?
I guestimate waaay too much and should really begin to pay more attention before I head out to a restaurant. My go-to seems to be Subway or a little place by me called "Bogey's" where I can get a big salad with grilled chicken and dressing on the side. I also had the greek salad at Atlanta Bread Co and that worked for me too! I just had to tell them light on the feta and to add grilled chicken and dressing on the side.

I am glad to announce I am no longer sick! I think it's been about a month and a half. I did an hour on the elliptical-- all my weights at the former levels I was at except for arms, and I don't think it'll take me too long to get back to where I was. Way to go Buffy!!!! I love changing sizes!!! Absolutely more rewarding than the scale!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Trying to avoid being poofed today...maybe it's just my computer?
Moments of weakness yesterday due to stress....and I ate a bit off program...and points but ironically I feel slimmer today? I didn't hit the scale yet...tomorrow at WW...but I felt like more food was needed to get over a hump...not sure how to describe it.
Anyway, I missed my window for a walk yesterday due to the formal announcement of my departure at the end of the year and back to back faculty meetings. By the time I got home I needed to defrost something for dinner, return phone calls, and reschedule a private client that I accidentally double booked for next week. Brian came home (the roommate) and wanted to go out to dinner...his treat!! So, off we went to Tiffany's (local applebees type place.) We had the special (split an app and an entree for each of us). Bri wanted boneless wings so I had ONE. And ordered a chicken/pear wrap with lowfat dressing. I only ate 1/2 the wrap and had 2 of his spare ribs. Not the healthiest but I actually felt good this morning when I woke up. The scale will tell tomorrow!
Another :cool1: this week...went to Kohl's with my 30% off coupon and bought new workout clothes in an XL!!! Not in the "woman's department". i fit into clothes in the "ladies" dept!!! Honestly this is such an accomplishment for me :)
Happy Earth Day and Happy Weekend!!
Hello all! :wave2:
Busy week so fly by post here. :car:
Congrats to Linda on being HH winner! :cool1:
Thanks Ashley for coaching last week! :flower3: You were a great coach!
Thank Tracey for coaching this week! :goodvibes
Susan, so glad you are feeling like yourself again! :cool:
Melinda, woo hoo on the new low! :woohoo: Good luck with your race tomorrow -- how fun that the whole family is doing it! ::yes::
CC, love the HH! :thumbsup2
Liz, pixiedust: for speedy healing on the toe!
Woot! Buffy on the large shirt! :yay: That is a wonderful NSV!
The St John's Bay JC Penney t-shirts, I think they are $7, are great -- I've been so enjoying my regular sized shirts, too.
Dona, glad your Mom's surgery went well! :goodvibes
:welcome: back, Christopher!
Kayla, you are so close and you have a lot of NSVs -- that is a sure sign you will make your goal! ::yes::
Karen, so nice to see you posting! :wave2:
I've been bouncing around in my decade, too. I'm ready to bounce out of it and get into a new decade before my half at the end of May. I know in my heart that I haven't been as on as I should so it's no mystery -- just a matter of pulling myself together. I am down a pound this week so I'm headed in the right direction. :thumbsup2
I have a 5 mile race on Sunday. Hoping for a PR. Last year I took 20 minutes off my time but I know that is not doable again . . . just not that speedy. ;)
Woo hoo, Karen! :woohoo: I'm so happy for you! :cool1:
As someone who spent years trudging through the women's departments looking for things I could wear I can totally appreciate how absolutely WONDERFUL you feel! :flower3: You go, girl! There's no stopping you now! :yay:
Lisa Yep those are the shirts! Love them, nice weight, not to clingy.
I was actually bra shopping, totally horrible experience because A) everything cute was a 38 D or smaller and the bra that I really really like, no one carries anymore. I did find a Madienform outlet store down in Clinton but until DH gets the new tires on the car I won't drive that far down 95.
But I found the shirts and it's an awesome deal so I want to go back and get some more. I have the bright pink one on today with the v neck collar, love it!
Congrats Buffy and Karen on the new sizes! That is awesome! So proud of you!
Good luck Lisa on your 5 mile race on Sunday! Let us know how it goes. We will all be rooting for you!
Happy Earth Day and Happy Weekend!!
That's awesome Karen!! I did the same thing at Lane Bryant. I walked in, really shopping for bras, and I realized all their stuff was to big. I've never been able to wear their pants but I always wore the shirts, nope to blousy for me! That's why I love these new St John's Bay shirts. I teetered on getting the XL but said what the heck, let's try the Large and see if it works, if not I can bring it back. So glad I went with the Large, the XL probably would have fit ok but after the undergarment shopping disappointment I needed a boost!
Oh and I put my Danskin XL shorts on today, to big! I had to cinch the string thing in them. WOOHOO! Makes up for the scale not moving!
How's everyone's Friday going? Mine's ok. Fighting a headache and really trying not to drink soda! I have had two cups of tea today and lots of water!
We are going to Longhorn for dinner as we are in the mood for steak tonight! I went to their website and picked out what I am going to eat. I am going to have a 9oz steak and some seasoned fries. I hope to do the elliptical when we get home. Then I will have a small adult drink.
I had a shake for lunch and one for breakfast so I can enjoy the steak tonight. I gave a massage today and really worked up a sweat. It was a great arm workout! My denim capris fit a little better today! Hoping that being coach will help keep me OP as much as possible! My one hour walk this morning was also helpful to me!
Hoping the steak will also give me some energy! I'm feeling a bit tired right now!
Keep those responses coming!
TTFN :tigger:
Changed my meal plan on Longhorn but I earned it! Came home and did 50 minutes on the elliptical. Time for my Friday night drink! Kind of busy day tomorrow with soccer games in the morning and afternoon.
Gotta get working on my FE gifts for the cruise!
Saturday QOTD:What is your favorite form of exercise? I know, crazy question, but there must be something we have all come to like to do! It can be as simple as walking!
You've all heard about the love I have for my elliptical! I'm going to miss using it once my parents arrive! I also love walking! I am a big fan of Leslie Sansone! I know some people find her perkiness annoying but I think I got past that when I had big losses from doing her workouts each week. I also love the BL workouts. The Wii Fit is fun especially the free step! I like some of the dance workouts for our game systems. I'm going to be trying a new workout next week so I will let you know how I like it! I just can't decide!
Hoping to get up early and get on the elliptical tomorrow and then again in the afternoon. Going to do my best to get all my water in. It will be hard with all the running around we have to do tomorrow! Ash's game is about 10 minutes from the house I grew up in! Haven't been by it in several years! Not sure how I'd feel going by it!
I'll pop on when I can tomorrow and try to do some multi-quotes! I'm always afraid that I will do it wrong and it will go poof on me!
Back to watching tv and enjoying a quiet night catching up on tv shows with Brian!
TTFN :tigger:
:wave2:
How is everyone?
Sorry I have been MIA. Between my Spring Break trip home, starting the new job assignment, and getting a nasty stomach bug that knocked me out for several days the beginning of the week I have not had much time to get online.
The new job assignment has been great. I am learning a lot about how to do the job and getting some great experience. The school district even gave me my own email account and computer access. :surfweb: It looks like I will definitely be staying at this sub assignment until the end of the school year (mid June). This position actually works the entire month of June so I am not sure if they will ask me to stay on. I have no idea how that works with subbing after the school year is over, but they really do need to have a secretary there.
I was up a few pounds :worried: but 3 days of stomach virus took care of that! Since anything that upsets the delicate balance of my system sets off my IBS I am back to only tolerating small amounts of bland and white. :( Rice, potato, grits and toast. I haven't tracked WW points in a few weeks because it was either not possible or no point to it. The good news is that the stronger medicine regimen that the Dr put me on for flare ups seems to be helping so hopefully things will be back to normal pretty quick.
DD16 is in Orlando right now at Universal with her school Band. They are marching there tomorrow morning. They have been gone since Wednesday and have been to SeaWorld and Universal today and tomorrow before they head home tomorrow night. She is having the time of her life. She loves roller coasters and has wanted to go to Universal for a long time. Today she lost her cell phone and thought it fell out of her pocket on one of the rides. A few hours later she called to tell us that it had been turned in so she got it back! Talk about having a lucky day! I don't know the details yet of how exactly she lost it, I am not sure that she actually knows.
I got my first big paycheck last week from the first month of subbing. I celebrated by having my friend that does housecleaning come and help me out. She was supposed to be here Tuesday but since I was still sick she didn't want to come anywhere near my house! I was excited all day to come home to a clean house and she never disappoints. It was amazing to walk in to freshly cleaned bathrooms, scrubbed floors, vacuumed carpets and a spotless kitchen. Best money I have ever spent!
And that is the LTS wrap up! I am going to try to read back and see how everyone is doing if I get time this weekend.
Saturday QOTD:What is your favorite form of exercise? I know, crazy question, but there must be something we have all come to like to do! It can be as simple as walking!
I never thought I'd say this, but I love running! I'm sidelined at the moment, but I'm looking forward to getting back to it. It's so nice to get outside and run in the crisp morning air, or the cool evening air (I try to stay away from midday...), and I like competing a bit with myself, too, to see if I can go faster or farther.
While the toe heals, I'm enjoying my stationary bike if only because I can catch up on DVR'd shows while I'm riding, especially the ones DH doesn't care to watch.
I also really like the interval workouts (a la Jillian Michaels) for strength - I was amazed to find out what I was capable of when I did Ripped in 30!
I did 30 minutes on the bike this morning (9km) and enjoyed my Friday sushi at Wegmans (my Friday lunch tradition is to do the grocery shopping after I have lunch and read a bit there). Everything seems to take so much longer and is so much tiring with this darned shoe cast, but it was still a nice midday break from work.
We picked up DDs a bit early tonight and hit the JDRF fundraiser at our local Moe's (DH is a type 1 diabetic, so it's a near and dear cause for us!). Then we took the girls to see Chimpanzee - it was wonderful! Really heartwarming and special.
Now the kids are asleep, and we're watching Grimm...
Welcome back, LTS! :)
Saturday QOTD:What is your favorite form of exercise? I know, crazy question, but there must be something we have all come to like to do! It can be as simple as walking!
I like walking with my dogs. Since I injured my back it is the only thing I am really able to do right now. It is not very effective for weight loss though. I used to like to play tennis.
Ugh... Yuck night tonight. No one felt like cooking so we ordered pizza for dinner tonight... Ooh... I only had two pieces and I went to the gym afterwards, but now I'm laid up nauseous in bed and I'm sure it's the pizza. Guess pepperoni, mushrooms and bacon weren't a good idea... :sick:
Going to try to get still and get some sleep. This may be a long night folks...
Has anybody else had that same situation; eating something not so healthy you haven't had in a long time only for your body to totally reject it?
Good Saturday morning everyone.
I just got some stretching in. My shoulder seems to be on the mend. Last night Iwas able to sleep on my other side and I have not been able to do that for a couple of weeks.
Saturday QOTD:What is your favorite form of exercise? I know, crazy question, but there must be something we have all come to like to do! It can be as simple as walking!
I have to say that the only thing that has been consistent in the last two year has been my weekly yoga class. I would love to sign up for her Monday night class because it involves weight but I really like the Thursday night class. It relaxes me and helps me get through Friday.
Pretty quiet here. I was moving some things around last night and had to laugh. To get to the quilt I am working on I had to move some knitting patterns, my handwork journal, a cookbook and my calculus review books. I just had to shake my head at the strange group of books.
Have a happy and healthy day.
Good morning all!
Melinda, sending you lots of good thoughts and pixiedust: for your race today! :yay:
But I found the shirts and it's an awesome deal so I want to go back and get some more. I have the bright pink one on today with the v neck collar, love it!
They stay nice even after several washings, too. I like the v-necks and the round neck. Good luck on the bra shopping! :flower3:
Saturday QOTD:What is your favorite form of exercise? I know, crazy question, but there must be something we have all come to like to do! It can be as simple as walking!
Run/Walk/Run -- thank you, Jeff Galloway! :teeth:
LTS, so nice to see you! :flower3: Glad the sub job is going well and that you are feeling better.
Liz, you will be back to running soon, I know. :hug: Watching something does help the stationary bike for sure. I watched every Disney travel special they had on Netflix while I was doing stationary biking in March.
Jill, that reminds me way back you asked me about the Krocman. It was a challenge at my local Kroc Salvation Army community center. You did the same things an Ironman does: 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, 26.2 mile run. The difference was you had a whole month to finish each leg. I finished in 74 days. :goodvibes It was very fun and a good reminder that cross training is essential.
EDuke98080, hope your back is feeling better soon! :flower3:
You, too, Ashley! :flower3:
Dona, glad the shoulder is feeling better. :goodvibes Those calculus books would be the zinger for anyone else's book collection! ;) What is a handwork journal?
I'm quite surprised this morning to find a banner ad for the very grocery store where I do my shopping -- not just the store but the location. :upsidedow I'm used to Disney ads popping up all over but not my little NW grocery store.
I'm used to being out the door and running now but it is a rest day before my race tomorrow. Have all my stuff laid out and will pick up my packet this morning. :cool1:
Have a great day all!
Ugh... Yuck night tonight. No one felt like cooking so we ordered pizza for dinner tonight... Ooh... I only had two pieces and I went to the gym afterwards, but now I'm laid up nauseous in bed and I'm sure it's the pizza. Guess pepperoni, mushrooms and bacon weren't a good idea... :sick:
Going to try to get still and get some sleep. This may be a long night folks...
Has anybody else had that same situation; eating something not so healthy you haven't had in a long time only for your body to totally reject it?
One night a few weeks ago when I was low on calories and just felt bad I decided to have a box of macaroni and cheese. I ate it all and was STILL hungry, it did nothing for me. Then I felt so extremely tired and bloated and yuck. I guess it's good that my body says no though!
Saturday QOTD:What is your favorite form of exercise? I know, crazy question, but there must be something we have all come to like to do! It can be as simple as walking!
I like walking with my dogs. Since I injured my back it is the only thing I am really able to do right now. It is not very effective for weight loss though. I used to like to play tennis.
I love gold's gym boxing, jillian michaels 30DS and running. I think my favorite is running on the treadmill because I can run for 30 minutes and get lost in my music and it's the perfect time for me to think and feel good. However other than running my gold's gym boxing is my favorite, I just love punching things. :lmao:
Good morning.
My mom and I ordered pizza last night watched HP and the sorcerer's stone in preperation for WWOHP next month. I had 2 pieces of pizza and 3 cinnamon sticks and kept my calories low so I could have it. I was still 150 claories over, but I think I should be eating about that much anyway. No exercise, just tired.
I realized how much I hated eating out or indulging in those things though. Pizza is a "binge" (although I've never really binged) food and it never fills me up. I was annoyed because I was still hungry. For lunch I had peas, broccoli, carrots, quinoa and a veggie pattie and it was 1/3 the amount of calories and I felt much better. Ah well, at least I controlled myself. :thumbsup2
Shopping today and I finally get to relax and just get caught up on cleaning and some school things. It feels nice, I may even get to read!
Hope you all have a wonderful day!
