Question of the Day for Tuesday, April 3rd:

Christopher's post about clicking the airplane belt got me thinking about other signs that let you know you have lost weight BESIDES the number on the scale.

List one (or more) things/events that have changed since you lost weight.

I ran my first 5k last week!
My clothes are too big.
I look a lot thinner.
A couple days ago I had a "comfort" meal added into MFP. Something I ate all the time before this journey. I felt stuffed, bloated, a little bit sick. I realized how it did not taste nearly as good and isn't worth it, so I feel a lot better now.

QOTD: Well, I used to not be able to wear a belt, and just a couple days ago reached the 4th notch! I need that belt to hold up my pants these days! My other biggest NSV was last summer, after I'd started C25K. We were on vacation and had to hike up a HUGE hill to where our car was parked. I kept up with DH, who had decided to turn it into a "workout." I wasn't even out of breath! amazing

Congratulation to all our Losers! Way to go!!

I've gotten my stretching class in and walked my 3 miles in the pouring rain. DH missed a call from the sub office while I was at class, so the day is mine!

Yesterday I turned down a long term sub job as a one on one for a special needs kiddo. It would have required giving up a couple jobs I had been assigned. The sub office said it was all or nothing; they weren't willing to work with me like the school was. Not feeling too guilty about it--especially after I talked to the teacher. I'm booked the rest of the week, but the hours are such that I'll still get my walk in--the very best kind of jobs!! :lovestruc

Have a super OP day, Losers! :cheer2:

My plan today was to wake up early and go to a group core class at the gym before class. This didn't happen for two reasons 1) I managed to psych myself up last night, and then by the time I went to bed I was wicked nervous again. I'm so intimidated by group classes. My gym finally added a Zumba class I would be able to go to on Wed nights and I really want to go but I'm super super nervous. I felt this way about yoga too and then I went to the first class and was fine. But I still feel very intimidated about trying a new group class. 2) I just plain wanted to sleep. I stayed up way too late last night doing homework and I was exhausted this morning.

The good thing is, I'm on track with homework. I'm feeling a little bummed out, as I always do on mondays and tuesdays when I have school then work, but it will be better when the day is over. I REALLY need to get better about working out, but i'm so torn between being exhausted from school and work, and finding the motivation to get out there and just go for a walk. Also its still really cold and I just do not do well in the cold.

Thanks everyone for your grocery suggestions! They were very helpful and I've started a list!

I hope everyone has a happy, healthy day. I just need it to be 9:30 and I will feel a lot bettter!

Hello All,

I know I'm very late on this but here is my introduction to team Donald. My name is Bickiana but you can all call me Bicki. I'm a native New Yorker and still live here. I'm 28 but will be 29 this month. I've been married for 5 years and have a 3 yr old son. I work part time (4 days) as a teller at a bank, and I am in grad school pursing my masters in education for both general ed and special ed.
This was my first time doing one of these challenges and although my discussion participation has gone down, I am still trying to keep up with the changes I've made. Since Jan. I've lost 11 pounds and while my goal was to have lost about 15 pounds around this time I'm not at all disappointed in my efforts. I know I could do more and then I would have been at 15 pounds but in reality I know my life is very busy and if I make smart choices everyday and squeeze in some workouts then I will lose the weight. Slow and steady wins the race right?
Anyway, I am very glad I joined this challenge... I think my fellow teammates have been some of the most supportive people I have "met". I'm convinced that this does work, and look forward to getting to know the Donald team.

Congrats SunshineMinnie and the rest of the BL! I was excited to have a loss last week! Hoping to do even better this week!

Heading down in about 10 minutes to do at least 40 minutes on the elliptical while watching Biggest Loser. It's only an hour so I think I will try for the whole hour!

I had some chocolate chip coffee cake when I got home from work this afternoon and then some calzone for supper! So, I need to work that off though I may be under calories for the day. I'm still drinking my water heavily!

Got my new Kingdom Keepers book today but I'm trying to finish another book first! Hoping to finish it by the end of the week!

Worked all day today so I don't have to go in Friday. Kids and I will hopefully paint eggs and do other stuff.

TTFN :tigger:

Holy smokes! I haven't been on here in 10 days and my head is spinning in the amount of stuff that has gone on. Grab a bottled water, healthy snack, kick your feet back, and prepare to read a novel, LOL.

Okay, well Alan and I will be together 4 years in July. It'll also be 4.5 years since Josh and Maddie passed away (my late husband & daughter for those who don't know the story were killed by a drunk driver in 2008. I was sole survivor of the accident).

Anyways, back to my long novel..

Originally we wanted to stay here locally and do something. We couldn't agree on anything and then a few days go by and I get the crazy hair up my butt. I booked us 3 nights in Vegas at Treasure Island. The flight was expensive but I couldn't beat the hotel price, 90 bucks a night! :scared1: <-- that was my shocked face when I saw the price online. We're going to kick back and relax. We'll fly in on a Thursday afternoon. We're going to see Bill Cosby at our hotel early Friday evening. Then I'm going over to the Wynn to see..... (drum roll please)

GARTH BROOKS!

I've always wanted to see him concert when I was younger. I never got the chance. So, yeah we spent WAY more then what I would normally for our anniversary but eh, you only live once.

Alan and I had been talking for weeks on and off about getting another pet. I told him I didn't want another cat. I wanted a small dog that we could mainly keep in the house. With having the inground pool put in our backyard we don't have a big enough yard now for 2 big dogs. So I scowered online looking to see what I could find. I had my heart set on a Boston terrier but we decided to go ahead and go to the SPCA and see what we could find.

I walked up and down the aisle of dogs a few times and nothing interested me at first. Then I walked back down the one aisle and a little guy caught my eye. I looked to see if he had a card on the kennel and we couldn't find one. We grabbed a volunteer and he found his card. He's a 10 month old terrier mix. His name on his card was "Banjo" but I didn't like it. So we changed it to 'Rosco". The card said he was house broken and they weren't sure how did with cats.

Long story short we filled out all the paperowork and Alan came back Monday afternoon to pick him up. They had neutered him Saturday afternoon after we left. I was real nervous on how Dublin was going to do. She's 8 years old and her whole life it was just her and her sister in my mom's house, and even when we took them last year.

Well, you can imagine my relief when we got Rosco in the house, they looked at each other, and went their seperate ways. Rosco followed Alan outside and came back in a few minutes later. Dublin came in from being on the back deck and she sniffed at him, didn't hiss or anything, and went and laid back in her bed. So, far so good. We had him in a crate last night, he cried for a few minutes, but calmed down.

I heard him barking early this morning when I was still in bed. I asked Alan when I got up what was wrong. He started to laugh and told me that Dublin had gone over to his bowl and tried eating his puppy chow. He barked at her to tell her to back off. Alan said she just looked at him and walked away. I bet he felt big and ferocious (sp), :rotfl:

Then today I was on FB and my friend tells me there was tornados in Dallas. I turned on CNN and sure enough! I was freaking out!! They had several touch down and one was fairly close to where my mom is working right now. I texted her (and several other friends and family) and they all texted throughout the next few hours to say they were okay. My mom said the hospital was under a CODE BLACK (basically tornado conditions). My brother was in Hurst bunkered down in his truck in a parking garage. Apparently his college is to d*mn cheap to invest in emergency notification systems for their students. He said the only reason kids were finding out what was going on was because they had parents texting them. Luckily, he made it safely back to my dad's house.

We texted the realtor that is managing our house and our next door enighbor. They both assured us that it wasn't that bad in our hometown, bunch of rain and high winds. Our neighbor assured us our house was okay.

So, its been a crazy day and I'm glad its over. Now I'm going to eat my Crunch bar. I was so stressed out I had to decide "Okay do I drink a few wine coolers or a chocolate bar?" Chocolate bar won.

:wave2:This may be my last chance to check in until next week sometime. We have to go out of town and not sure what the internet situation will be, but I suspect it will be limited as will my time.

I posted this on the WW thread because I am really trying to figure out how to manage with the crazy travel situation I am facing but would love input from others here:

Very worried about this week as I have a rather sudden trip to take and will be eating on the run where ever I can find it and/or meals fixed by others with very little input from me. :headache: In the past I loved dottis weight loss zone and had everything downloaded on my palm pilot. Now of course it is available as an app for my ipod touch so wondering if anyone has any opinions on the app? Since it is $2.99 I don't want to spend the money if it won't be useful. I won't have internet connectivity most of the time and will be eating several meals in airport or area restaurants. Are there any other apps that are useful to use while offline?

I did print off the Simply Filling list and am wondering if I should try to just stick with that (if I can ) while I am gone.

Would appreciate any advice. I don't want to undo a hard fought week and end up with a significant gain when I get home on Monday.

I had a great first week and lost 4 pounds. Already this week I am a bit high on my points and that is probably not going to improve as I eat on the go. I will probably be over on my points toward the end of the week but I want to minimize the damage as much as possible.

I still have my Palm Pilot that replaced my Handspring Visor!!!! :rotfl: Doestn't WW have an app that just stores the information?? Or does it need some kind of internet access. It might be worth the 2.99. Or you could probably find a calorie database and count calories.

Lisa has been kind enough to switch weeks for coaching. So we are all set for next week. The following week 4/13-4/19 is still open.

Please consider being our coach. Pleassssseeee!!!! :cheer2::cheer2:

I'd be willing to give it a try. Although I have no idea what to ask for QOTD... But I'd give it my best shot! :)

Thank you!!!! That's the beauty of being the Coach - you can ask us whatever you want. ;)

I can get up the stairs quicker and my knees don't ache at the end of the day. My seatbelt in the car fits better. Pants are looser, bras not so "constricting".

That way when I have no idea what they are doing ( ... or, I am really uncoordinated ... and could be going left when everyone goes right :rotfl:) I feel ok since no one is behind me and can't see me. And ... you would be really surprised at how helpful everyone is in exercise classes (at least the ones I have gone to). Let me know if you go to the next class. Give it a shot. :thumbsup2

Hi Bicki!! Welcome to the "No Excuses Challenge" I was on Team Donald, but now we are combined ... so welcome to Team Donald and Team Mickey.:cheer2: I am a teacher and there are a lot more of us on here too.

Congrats SunshineMinnie and the rest of the BL! I was excited to have a loss last week! Hoping to do even better this week!
:cheer2:

Worked all day today so I don't have to go in Friday. Kids and I will hopefully paint eggs and do other stuff.

TTFN :tigger:

Painting eggs always reminds me of when my sons were little and would just grab the eggs out of the cups with dye!!! They would have brown hands for a day or two. We are trying to find a day to to this as a family too.

Disneywedding-- congrats on your new family member and thank you for adopting from the pound. Sounds like you've been having fun...

I'm still stuffed up and coughing a lot. Tried to get my cough syrup refilled today but nothing...mean doctor...

I've been on antibiotics and prescription cough syrup since monday last week. My ears have been unplugging occasionally though-- that's good right? I'm also just really tired. I swam yesterday for 20 minutes, was coughing the whole time, kind of ridiculous but it was all I could really do in the amount of time I had.
I feel just so disgusting right now. I'm just not the kind of person that does things half a**ed. And that's all I have been doing with everything except trying to get better and that's not even working. :charac2::charac2:

Ok done with pity party, gonna go put some sweet potato fries in the oven.

QOTD: April 4th

This is one area I tend to struggle with ... so this is my question ...

How much water do you drink during the day? If you drink the 64ozs, what do you do to ensure you drink the whole amount by the end of the day?

How much water do you drink during the day? If you drink the 64ozs, what do you do to ensure you drink the whole amount by the end of the day?

For me its become quite a habit now. I try to drink one bottle (a 20z bottle) before start work. I take my first drink in the morning before my tea/coffee with my vitamins. Then I try to finish that bottle off during my commute if I'm not going to the gym. If I go to the gym its fairly easy and by the time I get to work I'm usually half way done with bottle #2. I try to drink a whole bottle with my lunch, the way I see it is it would be easy to drink a 20oz coke so why not the water. So by 1:00 i'm usually up to 50 if not 60 oz already. I do the same drink a bottle during my commute back home. Also at work we have all be trying to be healthier so we all have water bottles at our desks, whenever one of us gets up from our window we refill the bottles for the whole teller line.

Well, coffee counts so just one huge cup a day is equivalent to at least a cup and a half of water. I have to have something to drink with every meal or snack, and that's usually water, although sometimes for breakfast it's cranberry juice or milk. I drink at least 16-24 oz's at the gym, and drink water all day/night at work. Since I've been sick-- I've added tea, tea and more tea. I usually have a few drinks a night too-- which do count just I'd only say for about 1/2 even though my usual is vodka/0 calorie tonic and fresh lemon or lime. --Been adding rum to some chai though the last couple nights mmm.

Hi everybody - not been on for a bit because of horrendous work issues.

QOTD - 3rd April

I can now see bits of me (including a surgery scar) that I haven't seen for a very long time!!

QOTD - 4th April

I tend to drink more water in the afternoons / evenings and if time is getting on and I know I haven't had enough I will start making myself take a sip every few minutes. I know I feel better if I keep my water intake up so it is well worth it.

Disneywedding - love your new addition, he is so cute.

Good Wednesday morning. Only today and tomorrow and I am off for spring break. I can't wait.

Went to a charity basketball game last night. I did not play but I did cheer for the math department team. I got the crowd really going. The team won their first game 12 to 0 and lost their second game 10 to 4. Most of the other games were pretty close. The final game even went into over time before phys ed won. We had a good time.

QOTD I have to be careful of how much water I drink in the afternoon or I will be up many times during the night. I am okay if drink it during the mornng but I don't aways get a chance in the morning since it takes me forever to drink my tea. This is something I have to get back into.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Morning friends! I really miss chatting with you all! Hope you all are well and having a great week. I went to spin class last night for the first time in months and surprisingly I'm not sore this morning.

Off to finish making breakfast. I'll be back to at least answer the QOTD! ..........P

I have a great mug that I fill up twice a day and keep it with me. My trick - A STRAW! I don't' know why but I drink more when I have a straw. :lmao: Usually the first mug is done by lunch and the second I just kind of sip throughout the day. It's amazing how many times I am surprised that the water is gone! When I workout, I usually drink a bunch more.

Thanks for all of the congrats guys!

This week has been a bit more challenging food wise. 3 track meets, one basketball meeting and my teams volleyball game means I won't be home for dinner 4 nights this week. I am struggling to find appealing foods that I can take on the go with me that are healthy. Any ideas!

Fun meet last night DS took home the gold in Discus in his second meet. He was sooooo excited!

Have a happy, healthy day all!:goodvibes

I drink a large glass of water before each meal and then a 2nd glass with the meal and it adds up in no time:)
