Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Team Challenge for Losers and Maintainers!!!

QOTD for Friday, 3/23: Introduce yourself. Share your name, how your health journey is going, and any goals you may have.

Hey, I am Lara. I am a single, single, single woman with no kids. Did I mention that I wasn't married? Oh well. I have been working on getting healthy and losing weight for awhile. I did a big achievement a couple of years ago and lost 50 lbs (I was WAY overweight). But since then, I have gained 3 and then lost 3. I was hoping being accountable to this group would help me get over this. It still hasn't happened, but I am making some healthier changes...

Goals? Lose some of this darn weight and get my 5K down to unsweepable! LOL!!! :lmao:

If I made it to the merge, does the makeover come soon after? :idea:

Woo hoo we're together again! :cool1: It always seems like a fresh start when we come together on the merged thread. Who doesn't like a fresh start? :cool2:

A big BL thank you to our coaches last week, Susan, and Christopher.:flower3: You both did a great job! :thumbsup2

And thank you, CC, for coaching this week. :goodvibes

Welcome Mickeys and Donalds to the Merged Thread!

QOTD for Friday, 3/23: Introduce yourself. Share your name, how your health journey is going, and any goals you may have.

I am Lisa. I'm married and have wonderful DS who is 12. I'm 51 and an attorney. I'm a veteran of many BL challenges and the Biggest Loser the last challenge. :goodvibes Recently I just hit that wonderful place known as ONE-derland for the first time in 20 years! :yay: My goal is to lose 11 more pounds before the end of this challenge to take myself out of the obese category forever. Then it's on to my goal and to be a maintainer before 2013. :woohoo: Thanks to the BL Challenges I've made lifelong friends and started running, something that I never, ever would have dreamed of doing.

Don't forget to PM those weigh ins to dvccruiser76 today. :thumbsup2 I think as a group it would be wonderful to get to over 1,000 pounds lost before the end of the challenge. It gets harder as our numbers get smaller but we can do it!

Woo hoo, feel like I'm on Survivor and made it to the merge!!! Never made it this far in BL:cool1:!

Hi Michele! :wave2: Nice to see you! A half in May sounds like fun! I'm a slow runner, too,

I've already reached one of my goals (to get back into my rings) so the next goal is training for either the ToT 10 mile marathon in September or the Princess 1/2 in 2013! I still can't decide which one to try... :confused3

Hi Ashley! :wave2: Nice to see you! You can't miss with a Disney race! Congratulations on your fabulous work so far this challenge!

I am signed up for a lot of races, but the Disney races I have coming up are the Tower of Terror 10 Miler and the Wine and Dine Half 2012, and I hope to get to do WDW Half Marathon 2013. Disney races I have done so far: WDW Half 2011, Disneyland Half 2011, Neverland 5K 2012, and Inaugural Tinker Bell Half 2012.

Hi Melinda! :wave2: Nice to see you! That is a great race schedule. :worship: I'm looking forward to see you at the Wine & Dine and the Donald. :donald:

It would have been more, but I had a few weeks of stress at work/school. I don’t deal well with stress and I fell back on bad habits. Poor food choices and lack of exercise took their toll and I gained back a few pounds. If it weren’t for the Biggest Loser Challenge I think it would have given up. I am now back on track and the scale is finally moving in the right direction again. My goal is to lose 25-30 pounds and to become toned. I haven’t worn shorts in years and I would like to wear them when we go to Disney this summer.

Hi Kristina! :wave2: Nice to see you! We've all been on the roller coaster on this healthy lifestyle thing. Sounds like you recovered

It is good to be one group again. Hello friends from both teams. I have missed some friends who are on Team Mickey and am excited about meeting the people I don't know from Team Mickey. Team Mickey you will meet some great people from Team Donald. It has been great getting to know them.

Hi Dona! Nice to see you! It is good to be back together again. ::yes::

BRB I'm always getting in trouble with the smilie police! ;)

Hello everyone! My name is Lynda and I'm a 40 year old SAHM. I have alot of goals for this summer...my husband is Army so we'll be relocating in July. I will complete my bachelors degree at the end of June and ideally I would like to lose 18 more pounds by then to reach my goal weight!

Since Jan. 1st I have only lost 8 lbs (but yay for those 8!!), and I've been stuck at my current weight for about 3 weeks now :sad2: Today is my 16th wedding anniversary, so my husband will come home soon and we'll spend the day together. We're going to start by going for a loooong walk. I'm going to really work to shake it up because I really want to meet my goal.

I'm excited for this merge. I don't think I would have lost the 8 pounds I have so far without this challenge. I wish everyone luck and continued success here!!
Happy Anniversary:)
We sound like we're pretty much at the same place with similar goals in mind:)

Hello all,

I am Christopher and I live in Switzerland. I am American but have been living here since 2003. I am a music teacher for children ages 4 to 11 at an international school.
I didnt realise that the kids causing all the Diva Dramas were so young:scared1: You poor guy!
Though I started my diet on January 10th, I did not join the challenge until the end of the month when I found the WISH thread on the DIS. As of this morning's weigh-in I am down 44 pounds since I January 10. I have to say, the support and encouragement that I have received from the Donalds along the way has really helped.
Amazing progress:thumbsup2 Not long til you hols now (okay vacation:rotfl:)
I was the coach for the Donalds last week, and though the posts had slowed down, we have a few dedicated to the BL journey and I look forward to continuing witht them while also meeting up with the Mickeys.......just a question.....any guys on Team Mickey??? If not, no worries, just curious.

Have a great day to all!!

Christopher
Thanks for being a great coach last week:thumbsup2
Good Morning Mergers!!

I'm Karen and I am a 38 year old College Counselor at a private school in NJ. Since the beginning of the challenge (and joining WW) I have lost a little under 10 pounds :) I've had a rough week this week with the death of my godfather on Tuesday (wake today and funeral tomorrow.) I've done pretty well on this challenge and hope to lose 20 pounds by July!
Sorry to hear about your Godfather:hug:
Thanks to Christopher for being a wonderful coach last week :woohoo:

I'm so excited to be back in the fold with so many of you from past challenges and I look forward to meeting new friends too!!
I'm excited too:)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey Kathy...looks like a coffee on the deck morning!! :lovestruc
Beautiful day here in NJ!! It's my last day of spring break :( so I am going to live it up!! I went to the wake last night and it was tough...I'm going again today at 3pm as well....and I have been asked to read at the funeral tomorrow.
Hunger Games movie tonight at 10pm after a healthy meal at The Garlic Rose...yum!! I'm off to the gym for morning spin and maybe a walk outside....
Have an OP day and make great choices!!
~Karen
Hope everyone does well at the scales today:)
Hi luvpoohandcompany! :wave2: Nice to see you! I bet you can make your goal before the end of the challenge!
Good morning everyone!! I'm so excited for the merge to catch up with some old friends from Team Mickey, and to make some new ones.
So nice to see you, Kathy! :hug: I got a big chuckle out of your brave kid swimming in the ocean yesterday. :lmao:
Hello everyone! My name is Lynda and I'm a 40 year old SAHM. I have alot of goals for this summer...my husband is Army so we'll be relocating in July. I will complete my bachelors degree at the end of June and ideally I would like to lose 18 more pounds by then to reach my goal weight!
Happy Anniversary! party: Enjoy your day!
Hello! My name is Kaiti, and I'm excited to be part of the merged thread! My health journey has been full of ups and downs, but I haven't quit yet. My big goal is to weigh-in at 145, and to finish the ToT 10mi race taking place in September. I also need to get my diet under control- I eat too many sweets, eat too much of everything really. So I've been working on portion control and eating better foods to start with. And water-lots and lots of water!
Hi Kaiti! Nice to see you! Sounds like you have a great plan to finish out this challenge.
I was the coach for the Donalds last week, and though the posts had slowed down, we have a few dedicated to the BL journey and I look forward to continuing witht them while also meeting up with the Mickeys.......just a question.....any guys on Team Mickey??? If not, no worries, just curious.
Hi Christopher! Nice to see you! I don't believe that we have any men on Team Mickey who are still posting but I could be wrong.
CC, love the HH this time around. I am going to do my best to do them this week, even if I'm on vacation part of the time. Sometimes it's hard to remember that you don't have to do them perfectly to participate, even one point is enough! :goodvibes
Looks like a few posts since I started this earlier this morning.
Good Morning Mergers!!
Hi Karen! :wave: Good morning to you too. You can come on the deck and have coffee with me . . . it's in the 30's and snowing here. :lmao:
If I made it to the merge, does the makeover come soon after? :idea:
:lmao: Don't we all wish!
Lara, I have every confidence that you are going to have a wonderful time at the Expedition Everest 5K! :goodvibes
I am down a pound this week and happy to have it. I'm going to be travelling for a few days next week to Arizona for a double dose of family fun and will have to be very careful to come home reasonably close to where I started. 'Cause sometimes those family visits require a bit of :drinking1:. ;)
Have a great day all!
:wave2: Hello everyone! Nice to meet all the Mickey's!!
Welcome Mickeys and Donalds to the Merged Thread!
My name is CC (short for Christina) and I will be your coach this week. I am really looking forward to it.
Since we have been separate for awhile, I thought it best to go with the intro QOTD.
QOTD for Friday, 3/23: Introduce yourself. Share your name, how your health journey is going, and any goals you may have.
I am going to post HH next and then I'll be on as soon as I wake up in the morning. I am hoping to not sleep so late tomorrow.
Howdy! I'm Kayla, I'm a college freshman...soon to be sophomore! My goal for this challenge was to lose 20lbs by our WDW trip in May and so far I am down 13.2 since January 16th. :goodvibes I signed up for a half marathon that I have been training for. Although I'm a bit unsure that I will be able to finish, my goal is to at least reach mile 9 before getting swept and then finishing the rest by running in my hometown! :thumbsup2 I would like to do a Disney race at somepoint and run a marathon within the next few years. I also want to be able to do a pull-up!
Good morning everyone! Good luck with your weigh-in today and don't forget to send them in!! :yay:
Thanks for the warm welcome Lisa and hi to everyone :) Heading out to do some errands but will be back later to chat hopefully:thumbsup2
QOTD for Friday, 3/23: Introduce yourself. Share your name, how your health journey is going, and any goals you may have.
:wave: Hi, I'm Tracy. I'm a Canadian and I live in northern Canada- cold and snowy. We haven't seen anything close to spring weather yet!
I turn 30 this year:scared: I'm set a goal to become fitter and lose lots of weigh. I'm lost 17lbs so far but have over 100 more to go. My big goal is to run a half marathon - I'm shooting for the Tinkerbell Half in January. I'm started and walk/run plan. :cool1:
Hi everyone!
My name is Liz, and I live in northern VA. I'm 39, married to my DH since November of 2003. We have two beautiful DDs, Anna (7) and Tessa (5). I work a couple of jobs - one as an independent contractor for an international publishing company (sounds a lot fancier than it is!) and one in university administration. I telecommute four days a week, which has helped me schedule things like exercise and the girls' activities immensely!
I made lifetime with WW 11 years ago, losing 32 pounds to reach my then-goal weight. I maintained until I got pregnant with my first, of course. But then it all went crazy. I gained 80 with Anna, and I lost just about all of it after she was born. I gained 60 with Tessa and lost half of it relatively quickly. Then the pounds got stubborn, and I got busy, and you know all the excuses. I was back at WW, but I was admittedly kind of phoning it in, and I kept losing and gaining the same 10 pounds.
I found the BL challenge at the point where I had 15 pounds left to reach my revised WW goal. With the support of this group making a *huge* difference in my motivation, I made my goal three weeks ago and am now a maintainer! The big things that I started doing differently were strength training and more exercise in general. Before BL, I was exercising about 3 days a week. Maybe 4. Now it's 5-6.
I was also always someone whose running philosophy was "why would you run if no-one was chasing you?" But I've been inspired by the ladies on this challenge who have made running a habit, and, combined with a hefty dose of spring fever (and early warm temps here!) I decided to give it a go. I'm currently using a C25K app on my phone and finding that I actually can run without falling over. :) I'm hoping to do my first 5K later this spring, and then see if I can do a 10K. If I can do that, I'll set my sights on a half marathon; I'd love to do a Disney race!
My habits and my mindset have done a 180 since I started the BL challenge at the beginning of January. This was just the kick in the pants I needed, and I'm so happy to say that those pants no longer fit. ;)
Looking forward to the merged thread!
XO
Liz
QOTD for Friday, 3/23: Introduce yourself. Share your name, how your health journey is going, and any goals you may have.
Hi Everyone! :)
My name is Kristin, I'm 37 and I have been married to my DH since 2004 and we have a DD 19 months old. I work full time as a manager of the accounting and IT departments at my company and have worked here right out of college which this summer will be 16 years. :eek: Time sure flies! My health journey is going much better, before DD I really enjoyed going to the gym (for cardio only and for the social aspect!) and liked doing the Firm videos. Since DD, health and fitness fell by the wayside although during this challenge I am finally below my pre-pregnancy weight!:woohoo: My goal is to run another 5K (last time was 2009) with a time around 39 minutes in April. I have been throwing around the idea of maybe training for a Disney half marathon too.
Good morning, Losers! It's so nice to be merged. I know I'm mostly a lurker, but I've missed the Donalds! Earlier this week when my motivation was low, I was trying to channel Pamela!! :rotfl2:
My name is Linda. DH and I will celebrate 25 years with a trip to DL in November. We are leaving our 2 DSs home! Well, one will be in college by then and DS2 will be a high school sophomore. So far I've lost 20 pounds with the help of all the wonderful BL people. I was out of town last week and had a little set back and I am happy to report that even with a set back I remained in one-derland. Today I am back where I started before the trip, which is fine with me! If I lose one more pound (and I plan to lose plenty more than that!) I will be the skinniest I've been in many a year. :cool1:
Have a super day, Mickeys and Donalds. Send in your weight and drink that water!
Hello everyone! I'm back! Donalds, I missed you, Mickeys, nice to see you!
I guess we're doing quick intros? I'm Trina, 25 years old. I'm a dog trainer/college student, my major is history secondary education, with a minor in spanish, and i plan on getting my masters in public history, and my PHd in European history. Of course it's all plans..we will see where life takes me! I live with my parents in order to save money, and have a wonderful boyfriend who i've been with for almost 4 years.
I started my weight loss journey about a year ago and its been a long hard road. I was bascially at a point in my life where I hated myself and was uncomfortable with my body. While I've lost 30lbs, those feelings still linger. I am at a point now where I could probably be happy with my weight, (137lbs) if it weren't for my stomach. It still gives me awful feelings about myself and I can't stand to see the flab. I am really working on my body image issues, and trying to not slack with the healthy eating and excercise. Since christmas I have been suffering from a mysterious illness that makes me feel sick all the time and have been lucky to get 1 meal a day. I've been losing about a pound a week because of this. Things seem to be getting a little better, but they still do not know what's wrong with me and I am still terrified to eat most of the time. I never know if it will make me sick
We have a cruise in may, and my goal was to weigh 125lbs before the cruise. I don't think i'm going to make it, but I'm still very happy with the progress i've made. Now that the weather is getting nicer, and im starting to get my health problems under control, i hope to start running again. School has also been very taxing this semester, and there are days where i feel incredibly stressed.
This week I'm visiting a friend in tennessee, so the eating hasnt been great but I've really wanted to try the southern food. i come home on sunday, and im just nervous because i havent gotten as much homwowrk done as i needed to.
i look foward to talking with you all again. sometimes i dissapear for long periods of time. that just means i'm drowning in piles of homework and ready to go insane!
QOTD for Friday, 3/23: Introduce yourself. Share your name, how your health journey is going, and any goals you may have.
I’m CC, which is short for Christina. I have been trying to lose weight since September 2008 and have yet to get to my goal weight. I got to around 140 and am now almost 180. I have definitely fallen off the wagon and my goal is to get back on and regain my focus. :goodvibes
but more importantly, have succeeded in tracking food on MFP every single day (good and bad days) AND incorporating regular jogging 3x a week into my schedule. Family is on board with this healthy addition to my schedule--the boys don't love the daycare at the gym, but they want Mom to be healthy, so they suck it up for 45 minutes every now & then for me, and dh:lovestruc handles things at home for 2 or 3 hours on weekends for me to trudge through my long run because I'm slow as molasses:rotfl:
Amazing “but!” :woohoo: Love that your family is so helpful! :cool1:
Since then, I've cut out fast food, added fruits, veggies and healthy grains, joined my local gym and have lost 20lbs so far after a month of plateauing. My blood pressure's back to normal and I've also gone down a size in my clothes which makes me super happy.:goodvibes
Congrats! :yay:
I started running nearly two years ago, and my half marathon PR is 3:19. When I first started running my pace was over 18 minutes per mile, and with hard work and losing some weight, I am newly in the 12:something per mile (most of the time), or 13:something, and I owe it all to this thread and Weight Watchers online.
Wow! :worship:
Hi! My name is Kristina. I’m 43 years old and have been married to my DD for almost 19 years. We have a DD13 and I work at her school as the HR/Payroll/AP Manager. I have lost 7 pounds since the beginning of January. It would have been more, but I had a few weeks of stress at work/school. I don’t deal well with stress and I fell back on bad habits. Poor food choices and lack of exercise took their toll and I gained back a few pounds. If it weren’t for the Biggest Loser Challenge I think it would have given up. I am now back on track and the scale is finally moving in the right direction again. My goal is to lose 25-30 pounds and to become toned. I haven’t worn shorts in years and I would like to wear them when we go to Disney this summer.
I am looking forward to getting to know everyone on our merged thread.
CC, thank you for being our coach this week!
:hug: I’m a stress eater. So glad to hear that you are back on the wagon! :thumbsup2
You’re welcome! :)
Dh and I have been talking retirement and I need to get into a good routine before I do because many of my hobbies are sedentary ones. The healthier I am the better off I will be.
:thumbsup2 I love this! Great mantra!
Healthy Habits Week 13: Carousel of Progress
In honor of merging threads, I thought we could focus on how far we have come in the last 12 weeks.
This week’s 4 Habits are:
1. The family showcased in CoP didn't have a refrigerator at one point, but they did drink water. Drink a total of 64 oz. of water during the day. You can count up to 8 oz. of tea or coffee toward your total for the day.
2. We get to see exercise equipment from decades ago. I'm not sure how ell it worked, but we do know the value of exercise. Exercise daily. The goal is purposeful movement that burns calories, not a specific minimum amount of time.
3. In the final scene, we see the family cooking Christmas dinner. While the protein burns, the meal itself appears to be healthy and in particular, a good source of protein. Eat 2 servings of protein per day.
4. One of the things I noticed from watching the family go through time is that people have different ideas of how to reach their goals. This week, think about your goals and each day, do something YOU think/know will help you reach one or all of them. Examples: Journal your food, have a glass of milk, save your spare change. Note: Exercising and eating protein do not count.
Mini-Challenges
1. [Reflect on Your Progress: Think about what has worked and what hasn't worked. Think about who is helping you and who is not. Consider where you are now, where you were, and where you want to be.
2. A Good Way to Make Progress: Make 1 of your workouts (or part of one of your workouts) strength training.
Note: This week will go from Saturday to Thursday as this was posted late.
I so missed these challenges when I fell off...so glad to be able to do this one!!
I have made some great improvements to my diet (adding in fruit, veg and water) and exercise routine (actually doing something:rotfl2:) and decided today to get my act back together and start shifting those lbs:yay:
Nice! :thumbsup2 You can do it! :goodvibes
And am proud to say I started today with a 2.2 lb loss, so only 3.8 pounds til ONE-derland!! I know it's a lovely place to be!!
:woohoo: Congrats! What a great loss!
Today is my 16th wedding anniversary, so my husband will come home soon and we'll spend the day together. We're going to start by going for a loooong walk.
Happy Anniversary! A walk is a wonderful way to spend time together! :thumbsup2
:hug: I’m so sorry for your loss.
It still hasn't happened, but I am making some healthier changes...
Healthy changes are huge! :woohoo:
My goal is to lose 11 more pounds before the end of this challenge to take myself out of the obese category forever.
I KNOW you WILL achieve your goal! :goodvibes
Definitely! Unfortunately, I need to repost part of it because I kept it a team challenge. I will do that soon. ;)
:woohoo: on your loss!
My goal for this challenge was to lose 20lbs by our WDW trip in May and so far I am down 13.2 since January 16th.
:yay: Wow! You are almost 75% of the way there and there is still plenty of time. :goodvibes
It's funny you say that because as I read your post I thought the same thing!! :rotfl: It's good to know we're not alone isn't it?
Thanks for the anniversary wishes, it's been a good day :lovestruc
WOW MERGE TIME! I feel like I'm on Survivor!!!!!
Hi all,
Things are still not back the way they should be! Been a strange week! For those who haven't heard me whine all week, my DD7 was diagnosed with the flu on Tuesday and has been miserable off and on all week. Thought she was over it this morning but she is still fighting the fevers and just not feeling her best. Then Ash came down with a 101 temp last night! UGH! But luckily it was gone today. Which is good since I had pre-purchased tickets to go see Hunger Games with her tonight!
Here's a funny story: at 12:30 this morning Izzie knocked and the door and said she couldn't sleep. We told her she could go out to the living room and watch tv. Then, at 3:30 am she knocked again. I thought the worst. She opened the door and said, "I accidentally watched tv for too long and I'm going back to bed now!" Brian and I both couldn't stop laughing! She is a comedienne even at 3:30 am! She is actually sleeping on the couch now with a cold cloth on her face! She constantly feels hot! Poor kid!
Just made Ash and me shirts to go see Hunger Games in! We're leaving in about 15-20 minutes so we can pick up more ibuprofen for Izzie and then heading to the theater. We want to get there early as I'm pretty sure this showing is sold out!
We had a big Chinese food lunch so I'm not planning on anything but a small popcorn for dinner at the movies. Ash is almost ready to go! We need to take our picture before we go!
Very excited! Have a great night!
TTFN :tigger:
QOTD for Friday, 3/23: Introduce yourself. Share your name, how your health journey is going, and any goals you may have.
Hi!
My name is Kristina and I'm 28 years old living in Florida with my significant other, Alan. We've been here since mid September and I started re-focusing on my weight in October. Since May of 2009, I've lost 26 pounds to date. My main focus right now is to get under 200 pounds.
We are Disney AP holders and DVC members. Our home resort is BLT. We love to take a day and spend a few hours at a park and then head home. We spent two days at BLT for Valentine's Day. We spent 2 days between OKW and VWL in March. I'll be staying at CSR for the first time with my best friend in May. As you can tell I LOVE Disney. :)
