Biggest Loser Alumni Holiday Edition: past, present and future participants welcome!

Hi friends,

Hope everyone's Christmas was better than ours. 4 out of the 6 of us in the house came down with the stomach bug. Started 11pm Christmas Eve when Lizzie started in. I spent all night on the couch while she slept on the floor in front of the tree. Didn't enjoy her Christmas. Then Monday night I started in and Mom and Ash had it all day yesterday. Still not eating much but not getting sick anymore.lots of soup ginger ale and coke today. Brian and I missed our anniversary dinner yesterday. We will hopefully get out by the end of the week.

I joined up for next round. I am off to a great start losing 5.6 pounds in one day. Hoping I will have more time and more focus.

Happy New Year to you all!

I am proud to say that I've finished almost all of my to-do list.

I dusted and picked up my bedroom. I also made my bed. Maybe the sheets and blankets will stay on me tonight? :rotfl2: It looks so much better. I still don't know where to put my new VB purse though. I guess it could hang with the rest of them. :rolleyes1

I went to Staples and got my photocopies made. I picked up a new notebook that will come in handy for the new year. I went to the bank, but forgot to go to the library. That's okay as the books are not due yet. This morning I checked out a GF cookbook, so the library needed to be open, but I can drop off books in the slot after hours.

I found out that we have dinner for tomorrow night and it is healthy so I got out of going to the grocery store until Friday. We're having a roasted turkey breast tomorrow night. My father is roasting some veggies for dinner tonight. We'll have a salad as well. It will only be the ham that isn't the best choice.

I need to finish organizing my current purse. I carry a VB mini hipster, but I always manage to clutter it. It barely fits my wallet! :sad2: Off to finish that now.

Thanks for the words of encouragement Jen! I can always depend on my BL friends to have a kind word or two or more for me when I read the thread! :)

:hug: Lindsay.

Shawn: Glad to hear surgery went well. :goodvibes

I am so glad my boss told me about The Hunger Games trilogy. I'm almost at the end of book 1 and it is RIVETING! I already have book 2 from the library and need to go ahead and request book 3. DS will read them after me (they are YA) I think I've had it with this BL special and will turn it off and read. I am taping The Kennedy Center Honors show to watch with DH this weekend.

See you all here tomorrow:goodvibes

I downloaded that series last summer and transferred it to CD's and we listened to it on our drive to Florida. The Hunger Games was on DS 9th grade summer reading list. We listened to the 2nd book on the way home. We are currently on the 3rd book and DS told me the other day we needed to go on a long ride to finish it. :rotfl: There may be a trip to the Tilton NH Outlet Mall in my future!!!

Wed 12/28 qotd- Is there a time of year you find it easier to stick with your weight loss plan? So many people start off the new year eating well and exercising to beat the band and then burn out. Is there something you can do this new year to start off on the right foot and to stay there this time?

Disney fluff qotd, inspired by Rose who is in disney right now. If you were in WDW or DL right now, what would you be doing? I know it's been done several times before, but i just love reading everyone's answers to this question.

I am more enthusiastic at the beginning of the year, slack off a little in March and seem to get invigorated again when I can get outside walking again in the Spring.

OK, if I were in WDW right now, 4:30 pm. Getting ready for dinner, my DS current #1 restuarant is Fulton's Crabhouse - so I will say that I am getting ready for my South African lobster stuffed with scallops and shrimp at Fulton's. And I will not refill the melted butter bowl when the wait staff comes around with the melted butter boat!!!;)

Happy New Year to you all!
So sorry you've all been so sick for Christmas. I hope you are all better and can enjoy the new years weekend ahead. :goodvibes

Thinking about the running - there was a long time of running where I loved to get out and run. I craved the run and loved the long run. I felt so strong and so proud of all I had accomplished. I feel like I failed at the marathon. Even though we finished, I feel like we did not train properly (we didn't), that it was not the experience I really wanted it to be and that I should have done better. I think feeling like I had failed and was so injured in the end that I just quit running. In reality...I should have just worked on my injuries and gotten back out there as soon as possible.

So now I am starting over it seems and I am hoping that DH and I can find that love of running again. Right now I know we are running a 5K on New Year's Day, a 1/2 marathon in March, another 1/2 marathon in June and following that up with a full marathon in June. We are working hard at figuring out how to create a good training schedule and losing weight again. It is hard to run when you are carrying extra weight and for me, that means that 20 pounds has got to go. It also means that I have to eat right again to make my body feel strong and deal with the type of running I have to do to do all these races.

Well, that got kind of long but it actually felt good to really put into words all that we have been feeling these past couple of months.

Have a great afternoon everyone!
Jem
It's so good to see you again, Jen, and I love your running plan for the new year. It's good to look back on all you have accomplished, and know that you will be able to do it again. It sounds like chipper jen is back!!!:goodvibes

Sorry I've been MIA for the last few days, I took a break from the computer to enjoy the holidays. I've also been sick (again!) that makes being sick for both Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. I'm up a couple of pounds that I can't seem to buckle down and shake right now. We were loaded down with leftovers from my parents and I'm struggling between not wanting to waste so much food and wanting to just throw everything out and get back to my normal foods. I also especially need to get back on track because its one month until my first half, the Tink!
Such a bummer you were sick again. Can't believe the Tink is just a month away!! So very excited for you and Lisa.

FIL's surgery lasted about 2 hours. He is in recovery and will be moved back to his room in about 30 mins and should be able to go home tomorrow. I am encouraging DH to come home tomorrow instead of Friday. He feels like he is abandoning them but I just don't see the need for him to hang around there for another day if he is doing well. MIL can be quite manipulating so I have my antenna out I guess:laughing: Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes:grouphug:
So glad the surgery went well, and he's doing so well he'll go home tomorrow. That's amazing. I'm sure you dh is torn, and feeling like his mom need the support too. It's tough. Hang in there.

My bedroom is almost clean. I had laundry-clean and dirty-everywhere. I got a new Vera Bradley purse for Christmas and I haven't found a place to put it yet. I love the size and it will be great for my new year plan, but where to put it? ;) I should really dust too. I think that's the next thing I will do.
Well I am sure you've been more productive than me. :laughing: Oh well, it's school vacation, and I deserve to relax too, right? What vera bradly did you get? They are so pretty. I got my first one earlier in the fall, and just love it.

IOur tree was a fraisier fir....smelled incredible...and it cost us $39! We found this little tree farm up north a ways that sells all their trees for that price - regardless of the size or type of tree!
Wow that's a bargain. We cut ours too, and it's $60 for any size, but we get a smallish one, but I love the fresh cut trees and the lack of needled all over the rugs.

oh! pamela! i forgot about crystal palace...ok scratch the beginning of my post. instead we would have had the earliest possible CP reservation so we could walk up main street by ourselves

early ADRs for CP are the best!
mmmmm love crystal palace.

QOTD: i'm signing up for a half marathon in may. that means I HAVE to keep going with the healthy eating and exercising. signing up for the princess half was a great motivator last year!

would love to be in disney now!! 142 days :)
The half marathon in may will be an almost halfway to the disney marathon too. Definitely the disney princess race was the best motivation ever. 142 days! Whoo hoo!!! so jealous.

morning friends! Already back from Y and made a healthy breakfast. Need to help the kids finish their projects, get some cleaning done, and get packed up to head to my mom's early tomorrow. I'll try to pop on here tonight before I crash........P
Have a wonderful trip to your moms tomorrow! Are you staying the whole weekend?

Well, in all honestly I would probably never go to the parks this time of year. But if I did, I would probably have just done rope drop at Epcot, picked up a Fastpass for Soarin' and am headed to Test Track. Why Epcot? Because it's the only park that doesn't have extra magic hours today! :rotfl:
I can't even imagine how crowded it will be this week. It's been great to be able to go during the value seasons for me. February last year was the first time we were there during regular season, and it wasn't too bad.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words of support and welcome. I just started a new job at the YMCA, and I am in information overload so please excuse me for playing catchup and skimming. (I have to work 9 hours tomorrow to train for a part time job. Are they trying to kill me?)

I haven't worked in over 10 years, and am surprised on how achey my body is when I get home! Its just sucking all my energy at the moment, so I haven't had anything left over to exercise. I hope that will change in a couple of weeks as I readjust to my new routines.

Also, Im training this week and I'm supposed to manage the front desk solo next week. EEEEEEK! Its an understatement to say that I'm really nervous about it.

I have managed to track my calories. I really love the iphone app so that I can track wherever I go.

I really just need to crawl into bed and sleep, so I can be bright eyed and bushy tailed for tomorrow!
It's great to see you back. Hope you got some good sleep and are feeling refreshed.

I have recently gotten into cutting coupons and really looking and waiting for deals over the past month. It is absolutely amazing the things you can get for free or under a dollar. Its almost a rush I get now.:rotfl2:
I should do it more. A woman in front of me cut 40 dollars off her 120 dollar bill at target once. It took forever, and I was a little aggravated with how long it took, but amazed at the savings.

[Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. :grouphug: I was just about to come post earlier when Mom called. This was around 6:45 or so, and she said she had finally been admitted to the private facility, that she needed a suitcase of stuff, and that visiting hours ended at 8. :scared1: So I called Grandma, packed super fast, and then we drove to visit her. It was weird and a little scary. She can only meet with us in the lounge, we aren't allowed to go to her room. She has a roommate who was also admitted today. I got a text earlier saying she was a little scared because they gave her electronic bracelet so she couldn't leave the place.

When Grandma and I got there, she was just being taken up to her floor and room. We were allowed to stay until a little after 9 because she had just come in. Mom said she doesn't know if it's scarier to be there or not be there. For me, it's scarier for her not to be there. I'm worried still, but not as worried as if she were home. Grandma and I are going back tomorrow evening, and I plan to go every night until she's released. We don't know when that will be.
]
Your poor mom, poor Gretchen. So stressful. I'll be praying she is feeling better soon. Hang in there, honey.:hug:

I got a look at the scale and a look at my CC bill today:scared1: I went ahead and sent a partial payment in even though the whole thing is not due until Jan 17th. We have almost 2 pay periods until the whole bill is due so I will send in another partial payment on Jan 6th and then probably have to "borrow" some from my savings acct and pay it back with each check. If I wait until the bill is due to pay it I'm afraid I won't have the money I have today to pay it:laughing: It is much better news on the scale. I'm only up about 2.5 lbs which is a miracle after all I've eaten. I'm up 5.4 from my lowest point of the Fall challenge so my first goal is to get back there. I think if I work hard it will take me 2-3 weeks and then I can start losing new pounds
I'm a little scared to look at my cc bill, but that's a good idea to send some payments early. I think I'll wait til monday and live in denial for a little longer. :rotfl2:

Our power just went out, and I'm going to copy this, and hope it stays copied on my laptop so I can post it later. If not I'm a loser coach today.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

I started off with a bang this year and did great until about April. Then court stuff got in the way and I threw in the towel. I went hiatus until mid October and then jumped back on the band wagon.

When I get back from Daytona Beach I'm going to sit down and make out a menu for the month of January, grocery list, and somewhat tenative exercise schedule. Then I'm going to set goals for the month (i.e. miles walked, exercise minutes, etc). I did this in November and did really well. I set goals for December but with traveling and holidays I didn't do wll at all.

HA! I've got an app on my phone and while Alan and I were outside relaxing earlier I checked the wait times on all the rides. There is not enough money in the world to get me to a park today, :laughing:. Its a mad house everywhere on Disney property today.

Well I woke up really late today and didn't eat breakfast. I got a mile completed outside. I was in shorts in a t-shirt and when I started it was 68, when I was done 62! Yeah, my 2nd mile will be done inside on the treadmill, BRRR...

Going to do a little bit of laundry and pack an overnight bag. We're getting up early in the morning and heading to Daytona Beach for the day. Its one of the places I wanted to visit once we got moved here. We'll be back Friday afternoon before the new year. I don't want to be out and about on NYE, to many drunks on the road, no thanks!

I'm hoping Friday that last pesky pound and a half is gone so I can finally have met my first mini goal.

I am proud to say that I've finished almost all of my to-do list.
Yay!! Nice work, CC.
I OK, if I were in WDW right now, 4:30 pm. Getting ready for dinner, my DS current #1 restuarant is Fulton's Crabhouse - so I will say that I am getting ready for my South African lobster stuffed with scallops and shrimp at Fulton's. That sounds really good. Never been there but maybe I need to get there.

Our power is back on, only off for an hourish. Ds is playing his ds and hasn't noticed that the christmas lights and fridge are back on. I think I'll just wait and see how long it takes. He also hasn't noticed me back on the laptop. :rotfl: Those video games are all encompassing.

ChristinaI love your list, and also what maria said. You are one strong woman, and deserve to love yourself every day. :hug:

LisaH-I like your post to me Christmas eve, the drink and then the house was clean.:rotfl: It was almost like that, the bathroom cleaning was a quickie, and I'm sure noone else noticed. I had my first beverage while I cut up fruit around 2 in the afternoon.

Pamela-Glad you had a few glasses of wine, and enjoyed your day.:thumbsup2

Now that I have power, I'll have to think about supper. If it stayed out a little longer, we could have had cereal and bananas. :laughing:

Have a great evening everyone!!:)

Honestly, I think I do best in the summer. I can swim in our pool and we BBQ almost every night. Fruit and veggies are much more in season and a salad is great at the end of a hot day.

For the new year, I am creating a new plan. I am putting my health first and that means my physical and emotional health. I will be using a self-designed fitness plan that requires me to go to the gym. Going to the gym itself is helpful emotionally so I have that part incorporated too. I bought myself a new journal that I intend to use daily. I will be using myfitnesspal as well.

Disney QOTD: I'd probably be getting dessert somewhere in World Showcase and getting ready to watch IllumiNations or doing something similar in Magic Kingdom before Wishes. (I guess I better figure out how to do Disney GF. :))

I just finished sending in 2 resumes/cover letters. I really feel like today was a productive day. :goodvibes

I don't really have much of a plan for tomorrow. I will probably spend some time job searching. I'd like to be as productive as I was today. My stomach is still saying no gym, but tomorrow is the last day I have to eat gluten, so back to the gym very soon! :yay:

Have a great day tomorrow everyone! :goodvibes

Thanks! I honestly do not spend that much time couponing. I use the same coupon book my mom bought probably 30+ years ago and have continued to use her organizing method. I cut out every coupon for a product we use (we aren't really brand specific) and file them. Then, I make a list based on the sales ads for the week. The 2 grocery stores allow you to make the list online and print it out, so those only take a few minutes each. Then, I check for coupons and pull them out of the book and write "C" by the item name on the list. I also shop at CVS a lot. A LOT. I tend to circle items in its ad and then check for coupons and mark a "C" if possible. In the end, I save a good amount at the grocery store and my CVS purchases are often under $1. I usually go to each of the 3 stores once a week for major shopping and can go to all 3 in about 3 hours, but only because it takes 20-25 minutes to get to the furthest store.

We don't have a CVS around here. I think the closest is 20 minutes away. And the only store that doubles coupons here is Giant Eagle, which I hate going to since everything is so expensive there. Maybe I'll try to start using coupons for some things like body wash and deodorant. Any little bit helps!

Hopefully joining these BL threads will keep me motivated. And, I think I will be better once the weather gets a little warmer and I can get outside more.

It's 7:18, so I'd probably be at Epcot somewhere. Maybe using a FP on Soarin' or having a few adult beverages around the World :)

As for the marathon...well, you might remember that 2 years ago I started this journey of becoming a runner with the C25K program. To those who remember...I cried many times and really struggled when I got going. That first year I ran a 7K, a 5K, a 1/2 marathon and another 5K and a 10K. This past year I ran way too much for me: a 10K, the Princess 1/2 marathon, a 7K, another 1/2 marathon, a 5K, another 5K, the Twin Cities marathon, and one more 5K. I am not sure what it was that made it too much but it just was. I think I started burning out at the end of August and my marathon was in October. DH and I continued to train through it all but both of us struggled in September and really only did our long runs (it is not good to skip all the short runs). Our goal for the marathon was to finish and to finish under 5 hours, 30 minutes (we are not fast runners...just slow and steady). In the end, we were able to finish in 5 hours. I will say for me, miles 18-26 was HARD! My legs were cramping, my knees hurt horribly and I just was exhausted. We worked through it all and both said we were not swearing off full marathons but we also didn't feel like running for quite some time.

Time to get moving again though and get prepared for 2 hours at the club. My goal is to run at least 3 miles and then walk for about an hour. I will also shower and get ready for the evening while I am there so it is not like I will be working out the whole time.

Have a great afternoon everyone!
Jem

Whoa! That's a lot of races! I am happy to do a 5k every month or so lol. I guess I better step it up! Good luck with all your races!

Well I woke up really late today and didn't eat breakfast. I got a mile completed outside. I was in shorts in a t-shirt and when I started it was 68, when I was done 62! Yeah, my 2nd mile will be done inside on the treadmill, BRRR...

62 brrrr???? I would be in heaven if I could have 62!! It was 27 as a high here today. 62 would feel like a massive heat wave. I have got to move south...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, I finally made it back to the gym today after a week's break. It felt so good to go back. Being off schedule has thrown me way off! I've done some shopping this week and a lot of cleaning and organizing. I feel like I am getting things accomplished before we all go back to school/work again Tuesday :(
Tomorrow I have plans with my sister, mom, nephew21, aunt, uncle, cousin, and maybe 2nd cousin22 to meet up in Pittsburgh at The River's Casino. My aunt and uncle are home from FL (Lady Lake) and we thought we'd have a good time gambling our Christmas money away lol. It'll be a fun time, but I need to get back on track eating healthy. I did okay today minus the couple cookies and candies I had. I have to convince myself to eat something healthy for lunch and not a big Philly Steak sandwich or anything!
I have to run and get DSs sheets out of the dryer and make their beds. I figured I'd just wash and put the same ones back on since I had time today to do three loads of laundry.
I also have to check out the new thread :banana: I am ready and excited!! Have a great night!
Better late than never, here I am, Kathy!
Ironically, the time I do best is the month or two before a big race -- no matter what time of year it actually is. I think I am purely motivated by fear! :rotfl2: I guess I could schedule a ton of races -- that's actually not a bad idea. I'm thinking I'm going to do three halfs next year, Feb., August and September -- and then the Donald in January. I need to find something late Spring to keep me honest ;)
Ooh! I'm later than I would like to answer what I would be doing! I think I would be at Epcot, getting in a last few rides/shopping before Illuminations. I would definitely hit the caramel shop in Germany, I've become a big fan :blush:
Good morning everyone!! I'll be your coach today, and am so happy that I got the day off from work, so on the agenda for today is to catch up with everyone here, upload my christmas pics to facebook, and get to the grocery store. Poko has a vet appt at 9, so I'm off to shower now and then go there, so I'll be back. Have a great day!!
Shawn-sending prayers to fil today. Before I left icu 4 years ago, they had started doing that procedure at our hospital and the patients did so much better and had much easier recoveries and fewer complications than the open conventional method. I hope everything goes smoothly for him.:hug:
LIndsay-Thinking of you and your family today.:hug:
I do much better starting at the new year and focusing on upcoming vacations :rotfl: I booked our Aulani stay just this morning and I am totally motivated to get into bathing suit shape before our trip.
If we were at WDW we'd be watching Fantasmic, our favorite night time spectacular.
Gretchen--How scary for you! That's a lot to deal with at your age--or any age--but especially for someone just getting started in life.:hug: I hope you have someone to confide in and know that I am sending good thoughts your way.:hug:
Shawn--I hope your DFIL continues to improve!
This is a really great list.:goodvibes Here's what I have learned over the past two years. Losing weight makes some things much better and much easier. But, and this is a big but, you still have to make the decision that you are worthy of being happy and healthy and loved. Being thin doesn't make all the stuff that I struggle with go away--I still had the same crappy childhood, with the same craptastically awful parents, etc. What the weight loss really gave me was two things--One, it taught me that I am worth it...worth the effort, worth the time, worth being loved. And two, it taught me that I CAN do it. I can. I am not a failure. I might mess up sometimes, lots of times. But quitting is not an option, and neither is failure. And really the only failure is quitting.:goodvibes
I hope 2012 is a great year for you!:goodvibes
JenAnderson--nice to see you.:goodvibes
JenAnderson- Welcome Back! I have missed you!!!! It's so nice to see your posts again! How are things?
Well it seems like we are all better! Mom pretty much slept all day and is feeling much better tonight. She blew a blood vessel in her eye when she got sick last night but it's not hurting her.
I have 3 hot stone and 1 30 minute massage to give tomorrow and then I have to take my Mom a few places. Friday, I have two massages to give and then we will run some other errands.
We ended up ordering pizza. It didn't bother me. I've had a lot of coke today for medicinal purposes so I will have to work that off tomorrow. I will have to eat quickly between clients tomorrow.
I think I'll get into bed and play with my Kindle Fire for awhile. I did a ton of laundry so I also need to take care of what's still on my bed too.
Have a great night. My goal this week is to read as much as I can and post at least once a day.
Also, happy to see a lot of returning friends here!
Went to visit Mom again tonight. She seems better today, and she was in her own clothes as opposed to the gowns and bootie socks they gave her yesterday, so that helped too. Going back again tomorrow; they estimate she'll be there for 6-7 days. She's made a few friends, so that's good too.
This morning I drove out to return my brother's medication and we went to Tim Horton's. I got the yogurt parfait and an apple juice, and a small candy cane white hot chocolate for later. Then we went for a ride in the car for a bit before I took him back.
I had to take a peak and see if peple were really staying on their diet/exer/life style plan over the holidays. I have not, nor was I planning to. I have been cking my wgt daily but did only a couple days of short TM, 20/30 min, and am just now starting to ease up on the extra food nd get back to my usual breakfast, salad for lunch or dinner. I feel I need to ease back in to the lesser amounts, healthier foods.
I am signed up for BL 2012. I found that to be such a help. I can't wait for it to start.
I am just starting to put my house back together. I still have tons of food-2 fridges full. Itold family to come get whatever they want tomarrow or out it all goes. I still have gifts to put away, gifts to return, tons of cleaning and laundry to do. I also want to purge and sort all the decs before putting them back. I have so many that just are no longer used and I couldn;t even find everything this yr. That is just too many.
I have really enjoyed doing nothing the last couple days. We have relaxed,watche movies, read books, visited...
I just posted the Team Donald and Team Mickey threads for anyone that wants their clippies!!!! The threads are "under construction"
I do much better starting at the new year and focusing on upcoming vacations :rotfl: I booked our Aulani stay just this morning and I am totally motivated to get into bathing suit shape before our trip.
If we were at WDW we'd be watching Fantasmic, our favorite night time spectacular.
When is your trip??? How exciting!!
Oh Gretchen what a stressful time. You are doing a great job at taking care of your mom AND your brother - don't forget to take care of yourself as well! :hug:
*********
Morning all! I've been continuing my death spiral towards obesity :scared1: need this new challenge to start. Sure I could start now but that would require discipline and motivation. :rolleyes1
I just finished sending in 2 resumes/cover letters. I really feel like today was a productive day. :goodvibes
I don't really have much of a plan for tomorrow. I will probably spend some time job searching. I'd like to be as productive as I was today. My stomach is still saying no gym, but tomorrow is the last day I have to eat gluten, so back to the gym very soon! :yay:
Have a great day tomorrow everyone! :goodvibes
Good luck with the job search. I can imagine it is not easy with the economy. I hope you find the job you are looking for very soon. :goodvibes My goal for today is to be half as productive as you were yesterday. :laughing:
Well, I finally made it back to the gym today after a week's break. It felt so good to go back. Being off schedule has thrown me way off! I've done some shopping this week and a lot of cleaning and organizing. I feel like I am getting things accomplished before we all go back to school/work again Tuesday :(
Tomorrow I have plans with my sister, mom, nephew21, aunt, uncle, cousin, and maybe 2nd cousin22 to meet up in Pittsburgh at The River's Casino. My aunt and uncle are home from FL (Lady Lake) and we thought we'd have a good time gambling our Christmas money away lol. It'll be a fun time, but I need to get back on track eating healthy. I did okay today minus the couple cookies and candies I had. I have to convince myself to eat something healthy for lunch and not a big Philly Steak sandwich or anything!
I have to run and get DSs sheets out of the dryer and make their beds. I figured I'd just wash and put the same ones back on since I had time today to do three loads of laundry. Jill
Nice job getting to the gym. Have a blast at the casino today. I used to love to go, but haven't been since ds was born. I always brougth $100 dollars with me and mostly did slots, and my big win was I came home with a little over $100! Hope you're a big winner today.
And I always wash the sheets I put back on the bed, except one time in fall and spring when changing from regular to flannel.
Better late than never, here I am, Kathy!
Ironically, the time I do best is the month or two before a big race -- no matter what time of year it actually is. I think I am purely motivated by fear! :rotfl2: I guess I could schedule a ton of races -- that's actually not a bad idea. I'm thinking I'm going to do three halfs next year, Feb., August and September -- and then the Donald in January. I need to find something late Spring to keep me honest ;)
Ooh! I'm later than I would like to answer what I would be doing! I think I would be at Epcot, getting in a last few rides/shopping before Illuminations. I would definitely hit the caramel shop in Germany, I've become a big fan :blush:
Maria :upsidedow
HI Maria! Which september half will you do? The Wicked in Salem was pretty cool, and I might think about doing it again, but would definitely come cheer you on!
oooh, aulani!! I bet you all are so excited.
Yay for the cat!! Welcome back! Hope you all had a very merry Christmas!
Glad the clan seems to be all better. Ugly gi bugs out there right now.
We've had a relaxing week too. Getting on the treadmill a couple times is great. If we didn't get the dog, I'd probably be up 20 pounds. I'm at least getting our walks in. I need to clean out the fridge and go to the grocery store today. I procrastinated it yesterday.
Thank you so much Janis for hostessing these challenges. :flower3:
I need to go sign up for the new challenge. Just enjoying my coffee with Poko this morning and ds is still asleep. It's freezing out, so I'm waiting a bit for our long walk. Maybe the sun will come out and warm it up. I got today off too, and don't have to work again til tuesday, except for being on call the weekend. Today we want to go check out a couple doggy day cares nearby. I might send her one or two days a week to burn some energy on the days my friend can't walk her. I've taken a lot of time off for december, so I won't be able to do that for a while now.
Have a great day!!
:hug::rotfl: You crack me up, Nancy. The holidays are crazy for everyone, and with the new baby, no sleep, even crazier for you. You will do it, I have no doubt. Hang in there. :hug:
Good morning all!
Wed 12/28 qotd- Is there a time of year you find it easier to stick with your weight loss plan? So many people start off the new year eating well and exercising to beat the band and then burn out. Is there something you can do this new year to start off on the right foot and to stay there this time?
Disney fluff qotd, inspired by Rose who is in disney right now. If you were in WDW or DL right now, what would you be doing? I know it's been done several times before, but i just love reading everyone's answers to this question.
I'm with Maria the best time for me to lose is during the fearful time before a race. :rotfl: The Tinker Bell Half looming was a great motivator for me this Fall. I need to keep on doing what I have been doing for all of January. Luckily I have a 10K in March and another half in May to keep me moving forward.
Since I will be at DL next, I will say if I was at Disneyland right now I would be sleeping and hoping that there is a Magic Morning so I can get into see the new Star Tours first thing. :darth:
Shawn, glad your FIL's surgery went well. Hope DH can come home today. :flower3:
Pamela, safe travels! :goodvibes
Gretchen, you are so good to take care of everyone in your family. Please don't forget to take care of you, too. :hug:
Tracey, hope that you and everyone in your family is feeling better. :flower3:
Kathy, I'm following you today. princess: And you would not be a loser coach, even if you'd lost your post. Glad that you are enjoying your time off. :santa:
Christina, safe travels to you, too. :cool2:
LisaH-I like your post to me Christmas eve, the drink and then the house was clean.:rotfl: It was almost like that, the bathroom cleaning was a quickie, and I'm sure noone else noticed. I had my first beverage while I cut up fruit around 2 in the afternoon.
Funny how those adult beverages can smooth the edges of holiday celebrations! :rotfl:
CC, glad that you had a productive day! :hippie: And you know we have an expert at GF at WDW right here on this thread. :goodvibes
Jill, good luck at the casino! :wizard:
Better late than never, here I am, Kathy!
But not as late as I was! ;)
Deb, how exciting booking Aulani! :yay: Did you have any trouble getting the dates you wanted?
Jen, a New Year's Day run sounds cold. :cold: Good luck! :cheer2:
I have really enjoyed doing nothing the last couple days. We have relaxed,watche movies, read books, visited...
Sounds wonderful! :thumbsup2
Thanks, Janis! And thanks for hostessing! :flower3:
How's those post-pregnancy hormones, Nancy? :hug: You don't have to do everything at once -- how about make one good choice today, two tomorrow and three on Saturday. You'll have a head start for 1/1/12! I know you can do it but you have to be kind to yourself. :flower3:
Busy few days at work. Yesterday I was at my desk at 5:30 am and it's looking like that will be the case today, too. Hopefully I can only work a half day tomorrow after hitting the gym at 5 a.m. It's good to be busy! :hippie:
Im on the same spiral too Nancy. Sure we could start right this minute but something about starting at the beginning of a new challenge and new year is so much more appealing.:rolleyes1
I've taken a lot of time off for december, so I won't be able to do that for a while now.
Have a great day!!
One of the only down falls of time off is less money.:guilty: I hope you enjoyed your extra bit of time at home with Michael and Poko.
Yes busy is good. We complain alot when we dont get a breather but we would be worse off if the offices were not busy. I hope you can take some time tomorrow afternoon to enjoy the rest of 2011.:thumbsup2
**********************************************************
Ok I was really mad. I came on and tried to go back to my post I took hours on last night replying to you all and realized I have been attacked by the poof fairy.:mad:
Anyway................I am your coach for today.:yay: I know I can hear you all cheering from your living rooms.:lmao::lmao::lmao:
Todays QOTD:
What do you plan to do to start off 2012 on a healthy note?
Fluff QOTD: If you could only go to one disney park on your next trip which one would you choose and why?
1. I plan to use my fitness pal and cut out fast food. I took time last night to make mini goals with non food rewards for myself. I also will stick to zumba at the gym and getting my running plan going. My goal is to do our local half marathon on 4/29/12.
2. I would do Magic Kingdom. Its my kids favorite park and has so many of the classic rides we just cant miss. Plus I love wishes too.
