Biggest Loser 9 Spring challenge -- Part 2! HERE WE ARE! :)

Finally, finally, finally got over the hump. I lost 2.8 this week, its about time. I was so tired of the .2 game, up, down, up, down. I guess drinking over 100oz. of fluid a day is the trick for me.

...heading up to Lake Placid for the weekend. I haven't been back there since the 1980 Olympics!!! Snow is expected tonight so I can't wait to take some pictures of Whiteface Mt and walk around the village.
Have a great weekend everyone. Happy Mother's Day weekend! Talk to you on Monday!! :flower3:

You are too, too cute, Jen! Calling me out! I *heart* you! :)

Good afternoon everyone!

I had a small loss this week. Only .9 pounds. I just can't seem to get over that hump. The first 40 pounds went so fast (oooh, I typed "fat" three times before I finally got the "S" in there! LOL)... maybe I should go back to doing what I was doing back then... no running and eating 3 meals a day. Frustrated!

What do you use to get you moving when all you want to do is skip it (not because of a planned rest day or being sick)? Do you have tricks you use to sneak a workout in, pep talks you give yourself?

This is going to sound el lame-o.... to motivate myself, I look at a picture of myself from Christmas last year. It reminds myself of how far I have come since that time. Sometimes I will look at a picture of myself pre-2004 to remind myself of what I can look like again. Annnnnnnnnnnnddddddddddd.... sometimes, I tell myself to put on my big girl panties and just do it!

:goodvibes I *heart* you too! Girl .9 - that's a good week for me! :lmao: It's all about perspective! You are still losing, your body is probably regrouping right now. Great idea using the pictures. Our minds (or at least mine) can distort and reshape reality. And it does NOT sound lame-o.

So I'm going out on a limb here and guessing you did NOT run outside today, in the cold and the rain?:confused3

Have fun! Share some pics when you get back. :goodvibes

I did quickly weigh myself this morning before jumping in the shower! I was up .8 since last Friday but still under 155! I just decided that I will accept that weight as I really want to relax and enjoy myself the rest of the day! So I will IM LuvBaloo! I decided I really wanted to enjoy some chips and dip and a drink as I think I deserve it! Still may do some Wii later but that's not a definite! Going to have steak and chicken with potatoes on the grill!

Enjoy the rest of your evening!

Great attitude - don't stress about it and relax like you want to. A day of relaxing isn't going to sabotage your journey and it might even help. :woohoo::woohoo:

DD just left for movie night at her teacher's house...I'm getting ready to play Grey's while I clean up the family room:thumbsup2 When dh gets home we're going to Wal-Mart (Yes we know how to have a good time!). We're having a cookout tomorrow and of course the high is 55 and windy - today was 82! I might give in to his begging for a fire pit. Even though I think it's messy and stinky and I'll reek of smoke.:cool1:

I'm excited, I got offered another scoring job, so if I qualify for it I'll cut my phone job down to the minimum 15 hours next week - woo hoo! ( Usually I like it but some people are just rude. They must have miserable lives.) Wish me luck - this is writing. Love scoring the math but I struggle with writing.

BTW - open invite for our cookout tomorrow! It starts at 5 and we'll have beergaritas.:hippie:

I ran outside today! I went between storms. I love a challenge.

What in the heck is a beergarita? I would love to come to your BBQ!!

Good afternoon all!

Thank you jennz for being our coach this week and another thanks to jenanderson for coaching last week. We couldn't have a challenge without folks like you who take the time to keep us all going!

Please be sure and PM those weights to LuvBaloo and COW numbers to donac. It is nice to see folks giving the COW another try and we get to our final big push here for this challenge! :thumbsup2

This is day 4 of no internet at home. We have phone service now but apparently our modem is 20th century and not up to snuff. :rotfl2: So I may not be back until Monday. I also apologize that I was late in replying to all you nice folks who are volunteering to coach for the spring challenge. :flower3:

Congrats to all who lost this morning, hugs to those who gained. I hope whoever has seen the scale go the wrong way, and get the push they need to stop it right now. We can do it. We can get that scale to go the other way next week. Do the cow, get out and move, drink that water!! Two weeks left, can make a big difference!!

Yep, we can do this! :thumbsup2

My first QOTD: Exercise...we know we need it not just for weight loss but to maintain, tone, and have healthier lungs and hearts, but sometimes inertia is soooooooooo hard to overcome! What do you use to get you moving when all you want to do is skip it (not because of a planned rest day or being sick)? Do you have tricks you use to sneak a workout in, pep talks you give yourself?

I'm glad you took a break yesterday when you needed it, jenn.

I'm interested to hear all of your answers to this question because this is a tough area for me. Some days I just have to tell myself "suck it up, buttercup" because that is all that works. :rotfl:

Morning Everyone! I am happy to read about those of you who lost weight this week...unfortunately I did not. I didn't gain weight either, I simply maintained.

I think maintaining is a good thing! :thumbsup2

Back from the Y. I need to get in gear or I'm going to be late for work. I'm down 2.8 this week! Too exciting!

Down 2.8! :woohoo:

QOTD: I still haven't figured out how to motivate my self to exercise. I'm active in general, but don't excercise per se.

I think being active in general is a great thing to be, Deb! :thumbsup2

I was sure I would be up quite a bit this week because I ate like there was no tomorrow while we were in Myrtle Beach, and truthfully even before we left. But I guess the new foods are helping because by some miracle I lost 1.2. Yea! :yay:

:yay:

After two weeks of gains (putting me above my maintenance range) - I am back in maintenance! The first week I expected my small gain due to being on a business trip with lots of restaurant eating. Last week I did not expect to gain 2.5 lbs just because of TOM

Great job being back in maintenance mode. There will probably be some trial and error as you fine tune things but you are goal! :goodvibes

Something I've toyed with doing is getting those little silver stick on stars and putting stars on the calendar every day I've done legitimate exercise. I Loved those stars as reward when I was little in school! Have no clue where to find them though. Teachers?

I think that you can get star stickers at Staples or maybe even Target or Fred Meyer. Or maybe some Mickey stickers! (Or that Mickey confetti that they have at DL).

I did quickly weigh myself this morning before jumping in the shower! I was up .8 since last Friday but still under 155! I just decided that I will accept that weight as I really want to relax and enjoy myself the rest of the day! So I will IM LuvBaloo! Yay for being under 155 -- it's good to be nice to yourself sometimes. This is only going to work if it is something that you can live with.

Annnnnnnnnnnnddddddddddd.... sometimes, I tell myself to put on my big girl panties and just do it!

::yes:: Yeah, what she said! :)

Finally, finally, finally got over the hump. I lost 2.8 this week, its about time. I was so tired of the .2 game, up, down, up, down. I guess drinking over 100oz. of fluid a day is the trick for me.

Enjoy your week-end!

Well, I gained two pounds and lost my 30 lb clippie. I have no one to blame but myself. So onward and downward for me.

I want to wish all of you a happy, happy Mother's Day! Enjoy yourselves and take time to celebrate yourselves and all the hard work that you do every single day! :flower3:

I ran outside today! I went between storms. I love a challenge.

What in the heck is a beergarita? I would love to come to your BBQ!!

Beergaritas are tasty! I had some at a neighbor's and love them. Lite mexican beer, frozen limeade, tequila and limes. :goodvibes They need a skull and crossbons on them, they're potent!

And yes I do believe you love a challenge, that seems to be what you thrive on...if it's easy I would think you would walk away. True?

I hope you get your internet soon! That really stinks.

I think the COW is the most underappreciated thing on this thread...I don't participate because I forget, but when I do remember it helps me stay focused, sort of like "one step at a time." These little things - I can do them. I can see the trees in the forest and I can find my way.:flower3:

Onward and downward is right...it's a new week!

Exercise - well - for me, the motivation is the mirror and the flab. I know I only have certain times I can run, so I know if I skip it will be detrimental. The first mile is tough, and I usually want to give up, so I start challenging myself, to see if I can go faster/longer. Keeping an eye on that keeps me motivated. The toning/ again the flab. Also, I know that I am 2 pounds under my lowest high school weight, and I don't look as good as I did when I lost weight 5 years ago. I did the core balance ball thing 3 days a week then, and I had much less belly than I do now. Of course, I've had another kid since then, so I've got to work harder.

Another thought I had today. I've been thinking ultimate goal weight and lifetime lately. I am wondering what it will take to maintain a weight if I set it low. Anyway, as I was pondering, it came to me. This 4lb loss I had this week is just that, one week of my life. I am sure I'll have a 4lb gain at WDW, or more. I thought I'd share, because it was motivating for me to think about when I have bad weeks, it just 1 week out of the rest of my life!

QOTD: Motivation to Exercise

I really struggle to get the exercise in. I have learned its best to make my expectations realistic. So if I can get it 3 times a week, I'm happy. I'd like to get more in, but life gets in the way. I try to kick myself into gear, by reminding myself that I generally sleep better if I exercise.

I ate well yesterday! Did not give into the craving, and did some exercise bike last night instead of getting a snack. Told myself if I wanted the crackers, I had to exercise first and by the time I was done, I didn't want them anymore.

Didn't do my weigh-in this morning, so will make sure and do it tomorrow.

Happy to see so many people still posting!:goodvibes

eta: I think I might do that w/my dis'ing...AFTER I exercise I get to Dis...hmmm....

Excellent reminder!! Bernie from the BL said," Love the small steps forward you're taking and love the small steps backward you're taking because that's what makes you, you. Don't let those discourage you. Tomorrow is a new day." It's all a big learning experience, and I usually have to repeat a lot of the lessons, but when it comes down to it,it's just one week and another chance to do better. :cheer2:

It is a struggle to get the time to exercise, and having goals that fit your life and lifestyle are important, that's what makes this something you can do forever. :) I like having to exercise before you snack - that's a good trade off! I make dd read before she gets on facebook - same idea, right? ;)

QOTD: We've introduced ourselves and know a lot about each other...but how did we find each other? How did you find the dis, and how long have you been on here?

I started Dis'ing 7 years or so... I was planning dh's 40 birthday - we were going to AKL for a week with 2 other families, his bffs who were also turning 40, and the wife of one of the guys suggested I go to the Dis for info. She has long since stopped posting, but I'm still here. :) This was the first online community I posted in and the only one I regularly visit. I've been to two Dis meets here in Indy to help out our friend who organizes them; we met him and his family through the Dis when we had some MNSSHP tickets to give away. :thumbsup2

QOTD: I've been on the Dis for about 3 years! I thought it was only 2! It's all DH's fault! He was on here first and got me addicted!:rotfl2: We are both on here all the time now. I wouldn't have gotten this far without this challenge and the motivation I get from the group! I just happened to come across the BL Challenge last time around. I love the show and being a part of it in this way has been great for me!

DD2s soccer game was canceled due to the rain this morning but DH and DD1 just left for their game. I just put the first load of laundry in and I'm heading down to do LS 4 Fast miles while they are gone. We're going to a first communion party later so I really need to prepare my body for what I will probably eat there. I will also try and do a few miles on the elliptical later tonight. I did nothing last night!

Time to put the workout clothes and get started. I got a lot to do here today. Still need to make the chocolate chip cookies!

Morning jennz! Morning Everyone Else! :wave2:

Finally, finally, finally got over the hump. I lost 2.8 this week, its about time. I was so tired of the .2 game, up, down, up, down. I guess drinking over 100oz. of fluid a day is the trick for me.

Way to go! I am going to focus more on drinking water this week. I was getting to be great at it but recently noticed that I am not refilling my bottle as often. Time to pay attention to details.

BTW - open invite for our cookout tomorrow! It starts at 5 and we'll have beergaritas.:hippie:

Beergaritas are tasty! I had some at a neighbor's and love them. Lite mexican beer, frozen limeade, tequila and limes. :goodvibes They need a skull and crossbons on them, they're potent!

It is too bad I don't live near you! I love cookouts and beergaritas are incredibly tasty! We love to make them in the summer!

The first mile is tough, and I usually want to give up, so I start challenging myself, to see if I can go faster/longer. Keeping an eye on that keeps me motivated.

I also struggle through the first mile of the run. It seems like if I can get to about 2.5 miles that then I feel like I can go for a long time and not struggle. Getting that first part done is a huge mental challenge for me though.

I ate well yesterday! Did not give into the craving, and did some exercise bike last night instead of getting a snack. Told myself if I wanted the crackers, I had to exercise first and by the time I was done, I didn't want them anymore.

I love this idea. I am going to try it this week. While I have been eating pretty good, I seem to want to snack a bit more than usual. I also have not been wanting to exercise a whole lot. I am thinking this might be a help to me this week. Thanks for the idea!

QOTD: We've introduced ourselves and know a lot about each other...but how did we find each other? How did you find the dis, and how long have you been on here?

I found the DIS about 7 years ago. It started with a friend of mine who owns DVC and is also a Disney addict telling me I need to come here to plan a good trip to Disney. I was amazed by all the things I learned. Shortly after that trip, I did find the WISH part of the site because I needed to lose some weight. There were no challenges going on at that time (that I knew of) but I did lose some weight with the support of some people here. Soon I strayed away from the WISH (gained all the weight back) but I have kept coming to the DIS to plan wonderful Disney trips over the years. I have been a regular on the Cruise Meet area of the DIS as we have loved getting to know people before we cruise and I feel like I have made some lifelong friends as a result of this board (we now plan our vacations to Disney and what cruises we will take based on what our DIS friends are doing too). I found this challenge because of Jude (jbm02). She was writing to me about it and I figured I really needed to make a change, so I joined in. :goodvibes

I am not real thrilled with MN weather today. It is only 41° outside with a bad wind making it feel like 34°. At least there is no snow on the ground because that is what they were saying last night on the news. Regardless, today is a scheduled long run for me. I will be running with DH and we hope to do 8 miles...we will see. Our longest run so far has been 6 miles but we need to keep on adding to prepare for our 1/2 marathon.

Tonight we have a dance competition to go to. DS dances at 11 PM! His group is the 2nd to last to dance tonight. We are going to be there at 7 PM in hopes that they can practice a bit and that they might be able to go on a bit early.

Well, I guess I got a little carried away and practically wrote a book! :rotfl: I should go eat and get ready for my run. Have a great day everyone!
Jen

Ok, so I ended up doing 5 miles this morning. I felt motivated after being not so good last night. Wouldn't you know it, I'm down .4 from my weigh in yesterday! It's still a gain for the week and it's giving me good motivation to work out more today and get in 5-6 miles tomorrow. I feel I have a jump start on next Friday's weigh in and maybe I can reach 50 pounds! Going to work really hard to get there this week! DH said, "Margaritas are useful after all! You lost weight!" :rotfl2:

Time to finish the kitchen and make some chocolate chip cookies. I also need my morning strawberry frappe! I actually haven't had anything yet this morning!

Enjoy your day! I plan on doing 2-4 more miles later today watching Gray's and if time Private Practice while on the elliptical!

Good morning, losers!

I woke up this morning with a serious headache. Too much yelling and cheering during the Blackhawks game last night, I think. Or I slept wrong. I took some Tylenol and Motrin and it won't go away. Ugh.

QOTD: We've introduced ourselves and know a lot about each other...but how did we find each other? How did you find the dis, and how long have you been on here?

First time I came here was in the fall of 2004. I had a different name then. I think it was crazylady or crazymom or something like that. I was pregnant with DS5 and I was planning a trip for the spring of 2005. Well, I had a miscarriage right before the trip so we never went. I stayed away from the DIS for about 2 years because I was depressed that we had to cancel our trip.

I rejoined with a different name in March 2007 to get info on breastfeeding in the baby rooms at the parks. I was hooked after that. I started listening to the PodCast and went on the first PodCast cruise (I'm going on the next one too!) I've made some really great friends here.

It took most of the week, but I managed to drop the 4 lbs that I gained and I am now the same weight at I was on Monday morning. What a struggle.

QOTD: I found the DIS many years ago when I was planning one of our almost yearly trips. I found a thread about making t-shirts for our trips and since I had already been doing that I jumped onto the thread. That lead to buying software and creating lots of designs for a few years. Then life ramped up and free time diminished. I now design for my family, but those people from the initial thread have become some of my best friends. We always have mini meets when we go as it seems that our trips overlap. This year I think there will be about 20 of us in July (including our families) and we're planning a BBQ at the Tree House Villas. Can't wait.

I joined the biggest loser challenge when someone on the DDA thread posted a link and I've been here ever since. I am finally motivated again so hopefully I can finish out super strong.

Good morning Coach Jennz and everyone else. Hope you're all having a nice weekend. We are heading up to Wells Maine to visit with my brother and family this afternoon. They spend mothers day weekend up there on the beach with my sil's family. I did track every bite yesterday, and I will do that again today. I had a healthy egg beaters bkfst with a chobani yogurt, so I'm starting the day off right. Last year we ordered chinese when we were there, but I'm hoping we'll do something with healthier options. Did some wii fit this morning, and will get out and run tomorrow morning. It was cold and pouring out this morning, and I just couldn't get outside.

Friday qotd- my biggest motivator is the monthly exercise challenge here. I usually go for 1000 min, but had tried in up it last month and didn't, so I'll go back to 1000 this month. I haven't signed up, but I keep track in a notebook on my desk pretty faithfully. The c25k was great motivation for me because it was all written out for me, the 3 days, and what I should do. I think I need to find another running plan to continue on, and to increase my distances that will keep me motivated.

sat qotd- I found the dis 4 years ago when I was planning our first trip for Michael's 5th b-day. I lurked for a while and think I posted a couple questions about birthday parties, cakes, but did a lot of trip report reading. I think it was after our trip that I found the wish board, and did the ww thread for a while, and have done most of the bl challenges. This is the first and only discussion board I have been a part of, and it has been so nice to get to know so many of you here on the same journey as I am. I did go to one dismeet where I met tigger913 on the disney christmas carol train tour, and that was so much fun to meet other local disney addicts. I'm looking forward to meeting some others next march at the princess half!!

Jennz- what time should I be over for the beergaritas? They sound sooooo good.

Lisa-hope your internet is up and running real soon at home. It's hard when the computer is down at home, but I bet you're getting lots of housework and home projects done without it.

Have a nice weekend everyone. :)

Checking back in to report that my long run for the week is completed. DH and I did 8.8 miles. We ran 4 miles, walked 1 mile (briskly), ran 3 miles and then walked the .8. We were focusing on keeping a nice, even, and slow pace to be able to increase our distance. It took us 1 hour and 43 minutes which means our overall pace was 11:40/mile. I would like to be a bit faster but I was pleased we did the distance and I feel like our training is going well.

The funnest part of the whole run is getting home and checking my Garmin to see that the run burned off 1081 calories! Gotta love that!

I am now planning a quick nap, doing a few things around the house and then off to the dance competition!

Later,
Jen

Oh well, stayed at the communion party later than expected so no more working out today! I had some yummy food but I don't think I over did it. I did have 2 drinks, dragonberry rum and raspberry ice crystal light! That was yummy!

Despite it being Mother's Day I do plan on getting in some workouts. Girls and I will go to church for Sunday school at least and then we are planning on going to a Chinese restaurant for lunch if we can get in. I saw a shirt I want for Mother's Day so we will go pick that up and then come home. Probably play some games and watch movies. We are behind in stuff on the tv so that will be fine by me as long as I don't have to cook tomorrow! It's going to be too chilly to go to Canobie Lake Park. As long as I'm with my girls and DH I'll be happy! Maybe we'll do some Disney stuff to get psyched for our trip! Our waitlist hasn't come through yet but we're still hopeful.

Watching the end of Angels and Demons and girls are watching tv on our bed. They had a lot of fun with the other kids at the party and they are both exhausted! So are DH and myself. Don't know how long I'll last tonight. I don't plan on eating anything else tonight just drinking water the rest of the day. I do want to finish Kingdom Keepers 3 this weekend so maybe I'll take some Mommy time tomorrow to read in a quiet room. Of course, I may fall asleep if I do that.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful Moms out there! Hope you have a wonderful and relaxing day!

Hey everybody! Spent the entire day - literally from 7am to 10pm cleaning. AND IT'S NOT CLEAN!!! That was just putting stuff where it belongs, but I feel better since I did get my closet cleaned out, shoes organized, cleaned mine and both DD's drawers, and their closets. WOW! I guess I did a lot more than I thought...

I didn't do any formal workouts, but I stayed moving all day. I ate really poorly at dinner. We had my Mother's day tonight, since we'll be taking care of our Moms tomorrow. DH asked what I wanted - I guess I've spent too much time looking at Dis Food Porn because I said "appetizers" So yeah, I ate a few onion rings, some chips with spinach and artichoke dip, chiabatta bread w/ olive oil, and a taquito. I'll pay for it on the scales, but DH went to the store, cooked it all, while I cleaned closets.

Feel like the biggest loser of a Mom today. DD and I argued from 1-now over her room, cleaning, and her attitude. Feeling really guilty right now.

QOTD: A friend referred me here last year in Feb. when I booked our first trip. Became totally obsessed, and now I am here several times a day. :disrocks:The July thread for last year was awesome, lots of us still keep in touch on Facebook, and I shared a Wishes cruise with a great lady I met on there and her family. (Grandma4ever - Lois) She was actually one of my biggest supporters when Daddy died, across the country, and I feel so thankful to have met her.

My next goal is to start up with the podcasts... hopefully soon.

I found WISH when I started C25K in early Feb. and lurked your little BL thread for about a month before I would commit to joining.

Night everyone. We're going to pile everyone in the bed for a little family restoration before sleep.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to the Mom's, and happy Sunday to all you FABULOUS losers! :flower3:

did my weigh-in this morning, and I'm up 2.5lbs from last week. I wasn't expecting that since I thought it had been a pretty good week, so I will just have to be more careful with my food counting, and really work on getting sleep. Not enough sleep is just not good for weight loss.

Its the second week of spring soccer, and so far we are all enjoying the early morning start. We usually sleep in on Saturdays, but now that we're at the soccer fields from 8:30 till 11, we're already done it by the time we were usually just getting dressed. And instead of grabbing McDonalds for lunch, we went home and ate healthier.

We did end up stopping downtown and DH & our 8yoDD went to pick out some flowers for me, while 5yoDD & I went into the local bakery. Ended up buying some gingersnap cookies and rum balls, but I can portion control those to make them fit.
Planning to take the girls out to practice riding their bikes tomorrow after I eat breakfast in bed. I'm not really a fan of breakfast in bed, but the girls really want to do it for me, so it'll be cute :goodvibes.

Answering the QOTD:
DH found the Dis back in 2006 before our first 4night cruise. There was no dismeets with that cruise, but he learned a lot from the boards. Then when we planned our 2008 Panama Canal Cruise, DH got really involved in that cruise meet thread starting over a year before the cruise! I thought he was nuts, but then I ended up getting into it a few months before the cruise. Ended up making some great friends who we still stay in touch with. Some of us are still posting in a post-cruise thread. Found the WISH section of the boards in Dec 2008 and joined the BL challenge that started Jan 2009, and have been here ever since. I'm amazed at the great people in these challenges!

JenA - hope your DS had fun at his competition!

Tigger813 - your dragonberry run with raspberry sounds delicious! Tonight I'll be having a pineapple/coconut/fresca/rum punch :goodvibes

flipflop - cleaning that much is fantastic exercise!

Happy Mother's Day! Hope everybody has a beautiful Sunday wherther you're celebrating or not :goodvibes
