Biggest Loser 9 Spring challenge -- Part 2! HERE WE ARE! :)

jen great job on your run. I am so impressed with everyone who runs. I know I can't do it with my bad knees and ankles. I want to be able to walk for the rest of my life. I will stick to walking.

flipflopmom Cleaning all that time is amazing. I don't have the attention span to keep on task. At times I think I am ADD because I lose interest on some things fast.

How old is your daughter? I don't have girls but I have heard the same kind of problems with people who have girls. Hang in there it won't get better immediately but eventually.

luvbaloo I remember soccer and I loved when they had an early morning game. I hated when we had a 1 pm game. You couldn't do anything in the morning and the afternoon was shot. I am not a big fan of sports. Ds1 did it till 8th grade. Ds2 did it till 2nd grade. I was not upset when he stopped.

Have a great Mother's Day everyone. :grouphug: to those who have lost their mothers in the last few years.

I am leaving in a little while to visit mine. My mother is helping her church group have a bake sale. She is not working the 10 am mass so I am going to go to 8 am mass with her and after going to breakfast with her, my dad and my sister. It was also my parent's 56th anniversary yesterday but I know my mom and sister were too busy baking to go up and visit. Then I will come home and relax. Dh is going to church at our church with ds2 (who came home from college yesterday for a week) and then they are going to see dh's mom and mow her lawn. Ds's are going to see Iron Man this afternoon and then I have to decide to what we are going to do for dinner. It may be as simple as subs from a local sub shop.

Have a great day everyone.

QOTD: I've been on the Dis for about 3 years! I thought it was only 2! It's all DH's fault!
If my memory is serving me correctly, your DH spent about a page and half of his patience with me last year understanding the rider swap process and how it works with FastPass. It took a while, but I finally got it and was prepared for my trip. to him!

I love that some of your DH's are on here. Mine likes for me to know the stuff, and during our trip kept saying "You learned so much. All that time on Dis payed off." Or he will tell me to ask something occasionally, especially when we decided to buy DVC. But he usually says I sound like the chick from American Pie "Today.. on Dis.. I read..."

I also struggle through the first mile of the run. It seems like if I can get to about 2.5 miles that then I feel like I can go for a long time and not struggle. Getting that first part done is a huge mental challenge for me though. DS dances at 11 PM!

ITA, 2.5 seems to be my happy zone, unless I am pushing my speed. And 11 pm! :scared1: I complain when DD's gymnastics meets aren't over until 7. Of course, they are usually on Sunday followed by a 3-5 hour drive home.

QOTD: I found the DIS many years ago when I was planning one of our almost yearly trips. I found a thread about making t-shirts for our trips and since I had already been doing that I jumped onto the thread. That lead to buying software and creating lots of designs for a few years. This year I think there will be about 20 of us in July (including our families) and we're planning a BBQ at the Tree House Villas. Can't wait.

That is so cool, on both accounts. The DISigns people have always really blown me away, I can't even figure out how to get a design off my computer and on to a shirt. And the meet sounds like so much fun!

Just wanted to send you a  today.

Checking back in to report that my long run for the week is completed. DH and I did 8.8 miles. We ran 4 miles, walked 1 mile (briskly), ran 3 miles and then walked the .8. We were focusing on keeping a nice, even, and slow pace to be able to increase our distance. It took us 1 hour and 43 minutes which means our overall pace was 11:40/mile. I would like to be a bit faster but I was pleased we did the distance and I feel like our training is going well.

That's almost exactly what the Runner's World article I read on how to increase your long runs advised. WAY TO GO!!!!! My 1 hour killed me!:worship:

I do want to finish Kingdom Keepers 3 this weekend so maybe I'll take some Mommy time tomorrow to read in a quiet room. Of course, I may fall asleep if I do that.

How are those books? DD has been wanting to read them, I would probably enjoy them, too. ;)

flipflopmom Cleaning all that time is amazing. I don't have the attention span to keep on task. At times I think I am ADD because I lose interest on some things fast.

How old is your daughter? I don't have girls but I have heard the same kind of problems with people who have girls. Hang in there it won't get better immediately but eventually.

I am sooo ADD. DD has ADHD, I know where she gets is from. Example, I can't clean one room, b/c when I leave it to put something away, I start something in that room. I was cleaning off the computer desk, and ended up organzing the inside and drawers. Hung up a rain jacket, organized my tote bags in the coat closet. Dusting the wii, got the memory card and and organized those. Etc.. etc.. all day long. DH said "you can't get anything done for doing 100 other things.

DD is 10, and a slob when it comes to her room. I hate mess, and we just butt heads constantly.

Have a great day everyone! Gotta run to Wal-MArt, forgot the cards for moms.
Taryn

I was so bad last night. We went to a Durham Bulls baseball game. I had two Blue Moon beers, a jumbo dog with kraut, and garlic fries. I got back to our seats with the hot dogs and DH said "I thought you were getting garlic fries". I said "who said I didnt?". I ate them while waiting in line for the hot dogs :guilty:

And now today we have reservations for Mothers Day Brunch at Don Shula's. :scared:. I can't count points if we're paying $24.95 :confused3

My Dad and DBIL and I think my DSIL were at the game last night too! Small world!

Hey everybody! Spent the entire day - literally from 7am to 10pm cleaning. AND IT'S NOT CLEAN!!! That was just putting stuff where it belongs, but I feel better since I did get my closet cleaned out, shoes organized, cleaned mine and both DD's drawers, and their closets. WOW! I guess I did a lot more than I thought...

I did the same exact thing and got the same results. I can't deal with the blowing pollen right now so I decided to stay in all day. I went through my clothes, my sons clothes and some of my husbands. I can't believe the amount of clothes that I got rid of. Now I know where all our money goes, and I'm not a crazy shopper I can't imagine if I was. Cleaned draws and closets and nothing looks clean unless you look in there. I made the mistake of trying on my old shorts, I only came out with 5 pairs that fit, UGH. Now I have to do more shopping, it never ends.

Flipflopmom: DH laughed when I told him how you helped him last year. Have you checked out his website: www.oinc.net/disney He's got some great info on there and our Tr from our last few trips!

Bad night last night with the howling wind. I got up and read Kingdom Keepers 3 for awhile. Then went back to bed and wouldn't you know DD2 wet the bed! Happy Mother's Day to me! UGH! Got cards and itunes gift cards! Washing her sheets now. Girls and I are going to church and then coming home. Going to lunch at a Chinese/Japanese restaurant at noon. Then going to come home, play some board games and watch movies. Also need to fold the 5 loads of laundry I did yesterday. That will be a family job. DH and I were both running out of clothes.

The drink was really good last night!

I love Kingdom Keepers! DD1 is on book 2 so I need to finish book 3. Going to finish it today, only 35 pages to go!

I had a strawberry yogurt smoothie for breakfast and a small handful of M&Ms. M&Ms were for the headache from a lack of sleep.

Time to shower so we can leave from church in 45 minutes. The rest of the family needs to fend for themselves for breakfast. I'm taking the day off!

Happy Mother's Day!

QOTD: For better or worse our mother's have helped us become the people we are today. :goodvibes Today's question is in honor of our moms...share something about your mom, a story that you will tell your kids and grandkids about, a personality trait that she passed on to you, something about her that makes you smile...whatever you feel inspired to share!

My mom was a very confident woman - even when she was wrong she was wrong with confidence. :goodvibes Although she wasn't a rule breaker she also didn't follow rules if she felt they were wrong. Being able to appear confident even when her knees were shaking took her a long way, and she passed that trait on to me (even though I was more independent than she like at times!) and I'm passing that on to my daughter. Now I do have to add that her confidence also led her to "knowing" what everyone's problems were!:rotfl: She developed her own pizza recipe when we moved to FL from Chicago and there were literally no pizza places around; my mom taught me how to make it and I taught dh; one time she was visiting and Andy made the dough and it didn't turn out right, my mom tasted it and talked about it and decided it was the salt - and she went on and on and on, well you get the picture! That was over 15 years ago and that's still our joke if something doesn't taste good "must be missing the salt!" our family joke now. :cloud9:

It took most of the week, but I managed to drop the 4 lbs that I gained and I am now the same weight at I was on Monday morning. What a struggle.

QOTD: I found the DIS many years ago when I was planning one of our almost yearly trips. I found a thread about making t-shirts for our trips and since I had already been doing that I jumped onto the thread. That lead to buying software and creating lots of designs for a few years. Then life ramped up and free time diminished. I now design for my family, but those people from the initial thread have become some of my best friends. We always have mini meets when we go as it seems that our trips overlap. This year I think there will be about 20 of us in July (including our families) and we're planning a BBQ at the Tree House Villas. Can't wait.

I joined the biggest loser challenge when someone on the DDA thread posted a link and I've been here ever since. I am finally motivated again so hopefully I can finish out super strong.

Congrats on your 4 pounds! I love those t-shirts you guys can make - you are soooo creative!! Your trip in July sounds like a lot of fun.:goodvibes

Good morning Coach Jennz and everyone else. Hope you're all having a nice weekend. We are heading up to Wells Maine to visit with my brother and family this afternoon. They spend mothers day weekend up there on the beach with my sil's family. I did track every bite yesterday, and I will do that again today. I had a healthy egg beaters bkfst with a chobani yogurt, so I'm starting the day off right. Last year we ordered chinese when we were there, but I'm hoping we'll do something with healthier options. Did some wii fit this morning, and will get out and run tomorrow morning. It was cold and pouring out this morning, and I just couldn't get outside.

Friday qotd- my biggest motivator is the monthly exercise challenge here. I usually go for 1000 min, but had tried in up it last month and didn't, so I'll go back to 1000 this month. I haven't signed up, but I keep track in a notebook on my desk pretty faithfully. The c25k was great motivation for me because it was all written out for me, the 3 days, and what I should do. I think I need to find another running plan to continue on, and to increase my distances that will keep me motivated.

sat qotd- I found the dis 4 years ago when I was planning our first trip for Michael's 5th b-day. I lurked for a while and think I posted a couple questions about birthday parties, cakes, but did a lot of trip report reading. I think it was after our trip that I found the wish board, and did the ww thread for a while, and have done most of the bl challenges. This is the first and only discussion board I have been a part of, and it has been so nice to get to know so many of you here on the same journey as I am. I did go to one dismeet where I met tigger913 on the disney christmas carol train tour, and that was so much fun to meet other local disney addicts. I'm looking forward to meeting some others next march at the princess half!!

Jennz- what time should I be over for the beergaritas? They sound sooooo good.

Lisa-hope your internet is up and running real soon at home. It's hard when the computer is down at home, but I bet you're getting lots of housework and home projects done without it.

Have a nice weekend everyone. :)

Well Kathy you missed the cookout but I saved a beergarita for you (and Jen and Ann and whoever else wants one_:goodvibes

I hope you're having a good day and you enjoyed your breakfast in bed :)

The funnest part of the whole run is getting home and checking my Garmin to see that the run burned off 1081 calories! Gotta love that!

I am now planning a quick nap, doing a few things around the house and then off to the dance competition!

Later,
Jen

:scared1: WOW!!! Great burn!!

Oh well, stayed at the communion party later than expected so no more working out today! I had some yummy food but I don't think I over did it. I did have 2 drinks, dragonberry rum and raspberry ice crystal light! That was yummy!

Despite it being Mother's Day I do plan on getting in some workouts. Girls and I will go to church for Sunday school at least and then we are planning on going to a Chinese restaurant for lunch if we can get in. I saw a shirt I want for Mother's Day so we will go pick that up and then come home. Probably play some games and watch movies. We are behind in stuff on the tv so that will be fine by me as long as I don't have to cook tomorrow! It's going to be too chilly to go to Canobie Lake Park. As long as I'm with my girls and DH I'll be happy! Maybe we'll do some Disney stuff to get psyched for our trip! Our waitlist hasn't come through yet but we're still hopeful.

Watching the end of Angels and Demons and girls are watching tv on our bed. They had a lot of fun with the other kids at the party and they are both exhausted! So are DH and myself. Don't know how long I'll last tonight. I don't plan on eating anything else tonight just drinking water the rest of the day. I do want to finish Kingdom Keepers 3 this weekend so maybe I'll take some Mommy time tomorrow to read in a quiet room. Of course, I may fall asleep if I do that.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful Moms out there! Hope you have a wonderful and relaxing day!

Happy Mother's day to you! I'm going to reread Kingdom Keepers and get the 3rd one.

Kingdom Keeper 3 is awesome. I read it in 3 days and then my 12 year old read it just as fast :goodvibes

QOTD: My Mom lives about 10 minutes from us. She spends as much time as possible with us. She never misses one of the boys games and is as involved as she can be in their extra ciricular activities. We've never ever needed a babysitter as my parents take the kids whenever we can't. While she can be opinionated I can't imagine raising my kids without the help of my Mom and Dad. They'll we going to WDW and on the cruise with us this summer. They'll fly home a week before us so we'll have family time at US,SW and a little more WDW :cool1:

QOTD: For better or worse our mother's have helped us become the people we are today. Today's question is in honor of our moms...share something about your mom, a story that you will tell your kids and grandkids about, a personality trait that she passed on to you, something about her that makes you smile...whatever you feel inspired to share!

I got my love of math from my mother. She went to only about a year and a half of college and was a chemistry major. She got me through word problems in algebra 1. She also learned how to make pasta from my father's mother which she has past on to me. I know how to make meat ravioli because she learned from my grandmother. From my maternal grandmother my mother learned how to make homemade bread and she has taught me how to do that. She also taught me how to sew, knit and crochet, a skill I have used a lot in the last few years.

I got up early this morning and drove up to see my mother. We went to church with my dad and one of my sisters and then had breakfast together. The priest who did mass this morning loves this quote. I am told he reads this every Mother's Day. It is from the humorist Erma Bombeck. She has been dead over 15 years now but her reflections on life still ring true. IN the 1980's there was always at least one Erma Bombeck's colum on just about everyone's refrigerator. Be prepared to wipe a tear away as you read this.

When the Good Lord was creating mothers He was into His 6th day of "overtime" when the angel appeared and said, "You're doing a lot of fiddling around on this one."

And the Lord said, "Have you read the specification on this order?"

"She has to be completely washable but not plastic"

"Have 180 movable parts . . . all replaceable"

"Run on black coffee and leftovers"

"Have a lap the disappears when she stands up"

"A kiss that can cure anything from a broken leg to a disappointed love affair"

"And 6 pairs of hands"

The angel shook her head slowly and said, "6 pairs of hands....no way."

"It's not the hands that are causing me the problems," said the Lord, "It's the three pairs of eyes that Mothers have to have."

"That's in the standard model?" asked the angel.

The Lord nodded. "One pair that sees through closed doors when she asks 'What are you kids doing in there?' when she already knows. Another here in the back of her head that sees what she shouldn't but what she has to know, and of course the ones here in front so that she can look at a child when he goofs and say, 'I understand and I love you' without so much as uttering a word."

"Lord," said the angel touching his sleeve gently, "come to bed. Tomorrow . . . "

"I can't," said the Lord, "I'm so close to creating something so close to myself. Already I have one that heals herself when she is sick . . . can feed a family of six on one pound of hamburger . . . and can get a 9 yr. old to stand under a shower."

The angel circled the model of a Mother very slowly. "It's too soft," she sighed.

"But tough!" said the Lord excitedly. "You cannot imagine what this Mother can do or endure."

"Can it think?"

"Not only think, but it can reason and compromise," said the Creator.

Finally, the angel bent over and ran a finger across the cheek. "There's a leak," she pronounced. "I told You You were trying to put too much into this model."

"It's not a leak," said the Lord. "It's a tear."

"What's it for?"

"It's for joy, sadness, disappointment, pain, loneliness, and pride."

"You are a genius," said the angel.

The Lord looked somber. "I didn't put it there"

Have a great day everyone.

Back from lunch. General Gau's with Alaska Maki, Lo Mein, gyozas, beef teriyaki and some chicken wings and hot and sour soup! Really yummy! Not planning on eating another meal today. Just finished a Bud Light Lime and we were playing an old Disney car game on the PS1. Fun but it messed up my eyes after awhile.

Just FINALLY finished Kingdom Keepers 3! Not sure what I'll read next! Definitely left it open for #4! Going load my iTunes gift cards onto my computer and download some music.

Looking forward to Amazing Race finale tonight and just going to enjoy the rest of the day. Wind is still howling and it's a bit chilly! Probably head downstairs at 5 and do 2 miles on the elliptical while watching Gray's Anatomy. I'll do the elliptical in the morning tomorrow and watch Private Practice!

Enjoy the rest of your day! Gonna snuggle up on the couch with DH for awhile!

Thanks for the review on KK!! I think I'll read them while we're at the lake in a few weeks w/my judgmental SIL :) They'll be a good distraction.

That is so great that your mom is so close...we have always lived far from both our parents and I have to say that is one of the few regrets I have in my life, that dd and our parents didn't know each other in that day-to-day way. I'm sure my parents and my in-laws would have driven me to hiding in the house w/the lights out at times, but it would have been worth it.:goodvibes

Thanks for the tear-warning - I needed it! The recipes handed down from your mom are neat...are they family favorites?

Lunch sounds yummy! I've been craving some chinese today but I "get" to make pizza for my family.;) We're watching Amazing Race tonight too - I'm hoping the cowboys win it. JUST finished watching Private Practice...all I can tell you is you'll have an adrenaline surge at the end! This week is the season finale and I can't wait to see it!

DH and I are cheering for the Cowboys too. Sunday night is date night for us. We always watch the amazing race together.

Happy Mother's day too all my dis friends and your moms. :flower3: Hugs to those who are missing their moms too.

I had a delicious breakfast in bed this morning, some cereal with milk, a poptart that michael ate, and a big glass of milk. Then we went out for a walk/jog, for about 45 minutes, and stopped for coffee on the way home, and michael used his money to treat me. Very cute. After church, we did some errands, and went out to chili's for lunch, where I took half of my chicken dish home, and only ate about 1/3 of the molten chocolate lava cake, but I have written every bite down for 3 days, and I'm still within my points. Then we picked up a little garden figure of a fox to bring to the cemetary, and that's when I lost it. I just realized that mother's day is now about me. I just miss my mom so much. Thanks Jenn, and flipflopmom, and dona for the warm thoughts, and support.

I loved reading everyone's stories about your moms. Jenn, what a wonderful question today. Hugs to you today too, I know how hard a day it is for you too.

I'll share a funny story about my mom. My sister and I were planning a trip to Ireland for a cousin on my dad's side's wedding, this was 20 years ago, and my other sister who was 19, and unmarried had just told my parents she was pregnant, and my dad was having a really hard time, moreso than my mom and the stress was high, and one night we were talking about our trip, and my mom said, "what the fu**, I'm going to go with you". It was the first time I had heard her use that word, and she came with us and had an absolute blast. We were in Durty Nelly's pub and she was singing with a guy playing the piano, and we made so many fun memories on that trip. She was 100% swedish, but loved Ireland. My dad would have loved Ireland, but he wouldn't get on a plane. On the trip, she brought her future grandson a baby irish knit sweater. She was thrilled to become a grandma, and loved all her grandkids so much. I feel blessed to have lived so close to her. There were some trying times too, but it's funny now how those memories are fading and the good memories are becoming brighter.

We're going to go see Furry Vengeance now. I should cut the grass, but that will wait til tomorrow.

Hope you're all having a nice sunday. :)

 That is a funny story!! What great memories you must have from that trip. I'm glad you got your breakfast in bed today.:goodvibes

Had the scariest day today. DD2 fell on an open umbrella. The spoke either broke when she fell on it, or was already broken. We think it went in her leg about 4 inches, but it could have just cut it and the bruising came from the cut and fall. Regardless, blood was gushing and pouring, a bruise about 4 inches long formed and swelled immediately. Got it to stop pouring, made the 45 minute drive to Urgent Care with it pressured, iced, and elevated. They couldn't tell either if it had gone in that deeply or if it was fall bruising. Since it had basically stopped bleeding at that point, they didn't want to mess in it too much. They dermabonded the puncture. We are watching her for infection and signs of clotting.

I definitely ate everything in sight today, plus some. I have probably gained all 4 pounds I lost last week in the last 24 hours. Looking forward to a run tomorrow!

QOTD: I truly think my Mom is the best ever. She is the most selfless, sacrificing, strong woman. I never could have made it through the last year without her, even though she lost her Mom and husband within 6 months, she's always there when I need her. She has fibromyalgia, and she deals with the pain to keep my girls whenever I need her, and DD2 twice a week. She's my rock. I can't say enough about how much she means to me.

Hope everyone had a great day. Off to do more laundry, get clothes and lunches ready for tomorrow. Dread the scales in the am, but I can't let that get me down right now.

How scary for you and your dd. Glad she is doing ok. Don't worry about the stress eating. Sometimes you'll burn more calories with the stress and worry. Tomorrow's a new day, and your plan to run will get you right back on track.

It has been a really lazy weekend for me after our long run yesterday! I ended up napping much of Saturday until it was time to get ready for DS's dance competition. Even though I love to watch my children dance, I am thrilled the competition season is winding down.

I will be the proud mom and share 2 photos of both of them...

This is DD's leap - I am always amazed watching her!

This is DS - His smile always lights up the stage.

Today has also been a lazy day. I wrote to a a couple of friends, read a book, took a nap, worked on my lesson plans and had a really nice dinner. DH made grilled steaks, baked potatoes, grilled onions and a nice salad. I am thinking of taking a nice bath in a bit but may skip it and just crawl into bed again! :goodvibes

Taryn - So sorry to hear about your DD! I hope that she heals quickly. Don't worry about your eating, it is such a natural reaction for many of us. You are aware of what you did and I know you will be back on track in no time.

Dona - I love what your wrote about moms this morning. Thanks for sharing!

Jennz - Great question today. I love reading the stories today.

Signing off for now. I hope all the moms are having a great day!

QOTD Saturday: I found the DIS in 2004 when I was searching for some Disney wedding information. I didn't ever post and had never heard of a message board before. I finally posted in 2006 when my sister joined because she was doing the college program. I only became really active in early 2009. We were seriously thinking about buying DVC and I had been looking for a weight loss group to be a part of. I was so lucky to find cool people in both of those categories on the DIS.

QOTD Sunday: When pressed for a special memory of my mom, nothing stands out as a big thing. I guess it's all the little moments. Like this weekend, it was too insanely windy to have a fire in their pit, so we roasted marshmallows over the gas stove inside.
She taught my sister and I a love of cooking/baking. My sis is now a pastry cook at an NYC restaurant. She let my 2yo DD make her own pizza tonight. I never would have done that (ack- the mess!), but you know what, it turned out great.
She's always been a good mom, but it took me becoming a mom to realize how much she does/did for me and how much I rely on her.

Had issues with too much food yesterday but am back on track today and went shopping for the first time since losing the weight. It was so much fun to try on dresses and look good in them! I love dresses!

P.S. Happy mother's day to all those moms out there!
