Biggest Loser 9 Spring challenge -- Part 2! HERE WE ARE! :)

6 miles with Leslie Sansone today! 37 minutes on the Wii Fit. I did the advanced bike course, the island view course, 2 roads of the rhythm parade and a round of advanced step aerobics.

DH and I had a birdseye Beef Lo Mein. Each serving was only 230 calories and we split the package, 3 servings. Unfortunately the sodium was outrageous. I followed it up wit a bowl of rainbow sherbet. Just finished a large cup of raspberry iced tea and am going to have some more water and a cup of green tea! I sooo want a new low tomorrow!

Going to get up at 5:15 so I can get 2 workouts in before my weigh in. I don't have a client until the afternoon so I will be running up to Kohl's to get some shorts and capris after dropping DD2 off at preschool.

No luck finding the Champion Pace sneakers. The store I go to didn't even get any in with their shipment today. I don't want to order them online as I want to try them on. I wish I had bought them last month when I had the chance. And I won't pay for the Skechers brand. The manager at the Payless said the difference between them is that the Skechers have cardboard inside the bottom part and the Payless are all rubber.

Have a good night all and good luck with weigh in tomorrow morning!

Hi Losers!
I am still hanging in there, still maintaining my weight and all, but just completely buried the past week or so with new school stuff, appointments and I'm not sure what all, but it's been crazy!

I don't even have time to really catch up right now, just wanted to give a general "Hello" and promise to be back soon to catch up the QOTD archive thread.

Seem like things have been hopping here while I've been distracted - can't believe we've broken 1200 lost!

QoftheDay--my favorite piece of clothing at the moment are the jeans that I discovered I can fit into again! I also love this purple dress from college. Think 80s and the Deb shoppe. Do you all remember the Deb shoppe? Anyhow that dress has lived in three different time zones. I'm sure I will never fit in it again,(or ever have an occasion to wear it other than maybe a retro party) but I loved it. I wore it to a semi-formal at the Naval Academy. Think purple and shiny.;)

Sounds like a dress I wore on my honeymoon 12+ years ago! I would love to fit into it again! Not actually sure where it is! I'm hoping to fit into the dress I wore for my rehearsal dinner very soon!

I can't really think of one item of clothing that is my favorite. I do have my wedding gown from 1992. My goal when I started losing weight years ago was to fit into it again. I've managed that and would probably need it altered a little smaller in some places. I used to have a black mini skirt that I loved. It was very short and made of material with a lot of spandex in it. It would never fit me now, but I looked great in it back then.

Evening everyone! Seems like the day got away from me. I am going to be looking for a new teaching job for next year and I just found out about a 1st grade opening at a really good school. So, I spent all my time tonight working on my resume/portfolio so that it would be ready to be delivered tomorrow. I am crossing my fingers that I get an interview!

I will admit that the whole job situation is very stressful for me and that I did some stress eating today. I know that I have to learn how to stop this habit and find new ways of dealing with stress. If it was just plain stress, I am getting good at going to exercise. The problem is this was stress that required me to sit in front of the computer and work...that always leads to eating. I am thinking of making a new desktop pattern for my computer that reminds me not to eat! :goodvibes

I had lost a couple of pounds so I am going to get up and work out in the morning and hope for a good weigh in despite the fact that I ate things I shouldn't.

A big THANK YOU to 50sjayne for coaching this week! I am looking forward to having a 2nd chance at coaching starting tomorrow!

Have a great night everyone!
Jen

Things have been crazy busy at work and at home the last couple of days. Having to adjust to having my department downsized, but so far I'm having some success moving a few tasks out of my department to reduce the workload. :cool1: and had some good times with my girls yesterday as they were working on learning to ride their bikes :goodvibes

Well. Quotd today..hmm What are your favorite diet supplements? What has worked for you.

I take garlic when I'm not feeling well, although now I'm trying to just cook with more garlic instead. I will take a multivitamin occasionally, but I usually forget it.

Could everyone send some PD to my son who just started his new job. He came home very upset. He is bored and he has no one to talk to like he did at his old job. At his old job he knew everyone and could talk to them all. They were like his family. He is now in new territory. THere is alot to learn before the person he is working with goes on vacation on the 9th of May and I know he is scared. It doesn't help that the person who is training him is from India and his only interest is cricket.

Hope your son starts to feel better about his job soon.:goodvibes

Quotd tues. : Share with us something you have done lately that you are proud of.

At the same time as this challenge I was enrolled in a local 12 week Biggest Loser contest. We had our finale a couple weeks ago. I was the biggest women's loser AND the biggest overall loser percentage-wise! YEAH ME! I won a $500 fashion make-over from our mall. I work for the schools, so I can't wait to go shopping at the end of July after I've done some more bodywork and before the start of next school year.

:cool1::thumbsup2:cool1::thumbsup2:cool1:

Back from the doctor. My dh told me when I walked out I had such a look of relief on my face. I have atrial premature complex, which if you're going to have an irregular heart beat, it sounds like it's the one to have. He said it is happening frequently, but if I'm not having any noticeable palpitations, there's no reason to treat it. If I start having symptoms there's medicine I can take. He said it is happening quite frequently, and asked me about caffeine/stimulant use. I have almost no caffeine, and take almost no medicine. So he told me to stay off the caffeine, avoid decongestants and otherwise keep doing what I'm doing. I told him I thought I was doing everything right and felt healthy and then this happened. He said you are healthy and you're doing everything you need to be doing.:goodvibes That made me feel good. I do need to work on managing the stress/anxiety because that could be another cause. Tomorrow I go for an echocardiogram just to make sure my heart looks good. He said he has no reason to believe anything will show up, but wants to rule things out.

Happy to hear it turned out to be minor!:goodvibes

Quotd : What is/was your favorite piece of clothing? It could be anything from a prom dress to a ragged old tshirt.

Right now, my favourite is the dress I bought for my cruise in March. Its my favourite colour, has some good "spin factor:

Its a modern, grownup version of my prom dress from 20 years ago!

(I made the little lacy gloves and the earrings, which all lasted for the one night and then fell apart :lmao:)

Just a quick stop by to say good morning everyone.

Thanks for the PD. Ds came home happier than the night before. He even got to do something without someone accompaning him. He also found out he doesn't have to work every Sat like he thought the night before. He was feeling better about everything last night. It also helped that I made his favorite rosemary potatoes for dinner.

Have a good day everyone.

You do not have to participate but it is there to help you build good habits. Each week we will have two to four habit suggestions for you to do. At the end of the week you report your points to me.

It has been said that if you do something for 30 days it will become a habit. We will start off easy with two habits that have been known to help weight loss. As the weeks go by we will add to these habits. We will never have more than 4 habits to work on each week since that seems to be the number that most people could do without a problem.

COW 15

Do 30 minutes of exercise every day (1 point for each day)
Floss your teeth once a day (1 point for each day.)(I know you hate this one but an article I just read says flossing helps memory)
Eat 4 veggies or fruit each day (1 point for each day)
Start a gratitude journal and write 3 good things each day.

When you send me your points please post your total in your RE and then in the main part of the pm list your points as follows:

XX days of exercising for 30 minutes per day
XX days flossing
XX days eating veggies or fruit
XX days write 3 things in your gratitude journal

This challlenge runs from Friday April 30, 2010 through Thursday May 6, 2010. On Friday May 7, 2010 pm me your points for the week. The COW results will be posted the same day the weekly totals are posted.

HAve fun with the COW. Give it try this week

I've been systematically going through travel sites kind of like the raptor from Jurassic park, testing the fence for weakness.
:lmao: Love the analogy! Good luck in your quest, raptor!

Hi Losers!
I am still hanging in there, still maintaining my weight and all, but just completely buried the past week or so with new school stuff, appointments and I'm not sure what all, but it's been crazy!
Thought of you yesterday morning, actually. Hope the school transition is going well!

Wow, that is stress. Good luck in your quest. I can't imagine working on a resume again!

Thanks for the PD. Ds came home happier than the night before. He even got to do something without someone accompaning him. He also found out he doesn't have to work every Sat like he thought the night before. He was feeling better about everything last night. It also helped that I made his favorite rosemary potatoes for dinner.

Dona, so glad he is feeling better! Not having to work on every Saturday would make for happier thoughts. ;)

Shannon, that is a lovely blue dress! Actually, 2 lovely blue dresses. ;)

I can't really decide on my favorite clothing piece. I do like the dress I got for Easter, I had a great pair of Baby from Dirty Dancing, knee length roll up shorts I lived in when it came out. I had the hardest time parting with those. I really like a DVC sweatshirt I got over New Year's at Hilton Head. It's pretty big on me now, but very comfy, and represents a happy time of healing and a step from grief to living.

Well, I lost a total of one pound this week. (Actually 3 if you count the milkshake and TOM gain I had while sleeping off surgery.) However, that 1 pound gets me my 40 pound clippie! :cool1: So, I will be happy with that, and keep plugging along!

Good luck to everyone with weigh ins today. It sounds like a lot of you have had good weeks, hope it shows for you on the scale!

IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!:woohoo:

So glad to hear that your son had a good day at his job. And what a good mom you are making his favorite potatoes. ;)

Jen pixie dust coming to you for an interview! pixiedust:

I ended up 1.6 pounds down for the week! I'm happy. :banana:And this was tough week for me emotionally - hoping for an even better weigh in next Friday!

Morning Everyone! I will be your coach again this week and hope we all have a great week together.

This morning as I was getting ready for the day, I was thinking about how tough Friday's and the whole weekend can be. This weekend my kids are in a dance competition which means that we will be eating some meals out. We will also be having company and celebrating Mother's Day early with DMIL. There are always challenging or situations it seems on a weekend. Thinking about it all made me think of our QOTD...

Friday QOTD: How do you plan for a successful weekend?

I have decided that today, I am going to try to write out our weekend. I am wondering if I plan what I hope to be eating along with what I expect to be doing in terms of my exercising, I will know what I have left over for treats, alcohol or unexpected eating. I also have been trying to save all my flex points for the weekend so that I know I can have some treats but this week I have used a lot of my flex points so I am going to have to really plan carefully if I don't want to see a gain.

I hope everyone has a great Friday! It will be a busy one for me so I will try to respond when I can but will sure be back on later tonight!

Later,
Jen

Good morning everyone!

Thank you, 50sjayne, for being our coach last week and a BIG thank you to jenanderson, our new coach! You guys :rockband:

I was surprised to see the cholesterol in the protein powders, I never even noticed that until I looked yours up and did the "compare" chart.

That was interesting, jennz. My protein powder has it, too. I think it comes from the milk products.

Thanks for the sweetness! DD ran the mile (she's 10) last week when her allergies were really bothering her and it took her 9:25. Came home and had me check the website, and then asked her P.E. teacher if she could re-run it. She did it yesterday in 8:25! There's my hard earned money and time for gymnastics at work. She got presidental last year, did more pull ups than anyone in 4-7th grades. She wants to do the same this year!

Great job for your DD! :thumbsup2 Both DH and I still have emotional scars from the whole presidential fitness medal memories of grade school. :sad2:

Quotd : What is/was your favorite piece of clothing? It could be anything from a prom dress to a ragged old tshirt.

Somewhere in the mid-80s I had a black dress -- it was a size 10 then so it was pretty small -- the dress was short and had a big white asymetrical collar with lace on it. I had long permed curly hair. Once when I was wearing that dress to a class at a business a guy came up to me and said "I have to see you again!" :rotfl2: Good times . . . . :goodvibes

Seem like things have been hopping here while I've been distracted - can't believe we've broken 1200 lost!

 Hi corinnak! Sorry for your busy times. I helped you out on the QOTD archive. :flower3:

QoftheDay--my favorite piece of clothing at the moment are the jeans that I discovered I can fit into again! I also love this purple dress from college. Think 80s and the Deb shoppe. Ah yes, our younger sexier outfits! :thumbsup2

, jennz, great job holding the line.

Friday QOTD: How do you plan for a successful weekend?

When I think of planning things out in detail, I think of a pjlla plan! I try to be sure that I have plenty of good food in the house to eat before the week-end shopping -- hate that shopping when hungry thing. Also, it is easier since we restocked the freezer so all I have to worry about is produce and sides for whatever we thaw out. Sundays I try to do something in the crockpot so dinner is a snap.

New low for me today!!!!! 153.4 down 3 for the week!!!!!!!

:woohoo: Yay for you! All that working out is paying off!

I am a samer again this week. I'm okay with that since I was up 3 pounds after my race/walk -- apparently you retain water while your body is healing. I really overdid it so haven't exercise this week although my pedometer says I am doing a couple of miles a day so I'm not totally sedentary. I can still make my goal in four weeks by losing five pounds but it is now time to stop talking about it and DO IT! :goodvibes

Have a great day all and don't forget to PM those weighins to LuvBaloo and COW numbers to donac.

Good morning fellow BLs :) Hope your weigh in was not a surprise this morning :) And may you be blessed to have a great and healthy week this coming week--today is the start of a new day, a new week--fresh with no mistakes in it (yet). :thumbsup2

Big thanks to 50sJayne for those fun questions this week--learned a lot about peoples :)

Welcome to jen for coaching this week... look forward to your questions and our answers and everyone's supportive responses and support to everyone else--this is the best place to be!

My weigh in this morning was OK - was down 2 lbs--was hoping for more--but life is a bit of a mess right now so I'm gonna take that 2 lbs and hope that I can add to it this week.

DH is a teacher and is really hoping to get a job elsewhere--we got a call yesterday and he has an interview on Tuesday in a city (a real city!!!!) about 3 hours from here. Unfortunately Tuesday is the day I have to drive all day to get to my moms so I can help her move to her new place--which will be only 5 hrs from here (instead of 9 1/2) and if DH gets the job--only 3 hrs from there... so this week will be a bit of ickiness where food and stress and driving are concerned... Will make sure I get in my water and fruits/veggies and do my best to get the COW exercises in :) and hopefully this week won't be a big gain...

I'm off to walk away some - well stress if not pounds too - with Leslie Sansone... enjoy your day!!
:) Liz

Great job on the 2 pounds, Liz! :thumbsup2 I always like reading your positive posts. :goodvibes Sounds like a busy week but it will be nice when it is behind you. Here's some pixiedust: for you and your DH on his interview!

Back from shopping! I LOVED IT for the first time in years! I had to buy smalls and size 8s!!!!!! I wanted to cry I was so excited! I bought a pair of denim capris, a pair of cotton drawstring capris, 3 pair of drawstring shorts and 2 tops! One of the tops is the prettiest color green I've ever seen! I can't wait to wear it! All that came to $75 so I was psyched!

Off to celebrate with something special for lunch! Giving a massage at 2 and then picking up DD2 and waiting for DD1 to get off the bus and then we are off to the park for a while with some friends!

Have a FABULOUS FRIDAY everyone! Going to be 80 here tomorrow so I needed the shorts.

Quotd : What is/was your favorite piece of clothing? It could be anything from a prom dress to a ragged old tshirt.

Right now my favorite piece of clothing is a dress I'm saving for my birthday in June. I'm sure I could get into it now, but I haven't tried it on because I really want it to look good, and I believe by then I will have lost enough that it will be smashing! :goodvibes

Thanks for being our coach 50sjayne! You had some very thought-provoking questions!

Friday QOTD: How do you plan for a successful weekend?

Thanks for being our coach this week!

Well, Jen, for me the key is in the question -- I have to actually plan! :rotfl: If I leave it up to whatever happens, it's not pretty! If I have a plan, even if I deviate somewhat, I will mostly stick with it. This weekend I'm planning on surviving my FIL and his wife, and then collapsing -- but that probably wasn't the type of plan you meant! ;) Honestly, I've had a not so great last half of the week. I haven't felt well and haven't managed to do more than squats for 3 days. I'm not even sure I'm going to do my 8M tomorrow, since my house needs help inside and out before they arrive. My dh (who informed me yesterday they would be coming down for lunch Sunday), also informed me this morning he plans to work outside all day Saturday, and then he'll devote the morning to inside on Sunday. I have been through this before -- it means absolutely nothing I want to get done which I need his help with will happen Sunday, as he will realize he has to go to the grocery store, go get the paper, go put gas in the car -- you name it, there will be some reason he can't do the things I ask. Ok, so aside from all this -- workouts are doubtful, so that means I have to focus on food -- which will definitely be takeout as we scramble around getting ready for our company. I wish I could lie to you and tell you I'm just going to eat salads and fruit. My dh's family is a major trigger for me (it makes me crazy because they treat ds like a lower form of life than his cousins, and generally make zero effort on his part). But since they did agree to show up Sunday (these are the same people who cancelled the night before for Easter, so you never know), I am going to make my home and myself as welcoming as possible. DS is 12 now, maybe they were waiting for him to get older to find him interesting.... I wish I was one of those people who can't eat when they're stressed. But I'm not. Honestly, I'm going to just get through this weekend and start fresh on Monday. I'm going to do the best I can, but that might not be very good.
