Biggest Loser 9 Spring challenge -- Part 2! HERE WE ARE! :)

Morning Everyone! I would like to introduce you to pound 167...I don't like pound 167 anymore.
I will be biking to work and I will be running. I will be tracking my food and I will be drinking at least 8 glasses of water.
Jen

Please introduce me to pound 167. I haven't seen it in... well, at least since before I graduated from high school. I hope to see it by the end of summer. Only 12 more pounds until then! ;) Seriously, though, you have a plan, identified some goals. You can stick to it!

OMG... she just showed me Michael's Phelps "official" Facebook page and they have a photo up there of the event we went to... and DD is in the photo! That is so cool!! (just a group photo with her in the background, but still.....)
QOTD: Not sure... I am proud of my continued determination and discipline to lose weight and exercise. Who would have guessed when I started this current journey 27+ months ago that I would still be going strong and almost to my goal now?! I guess I am MOST proud that even though I am struggling to actually hit my final goal weight, I am not giving up.
I am FLOORED by your running! I can't imagine making 6 miles my "short" run!! I am truly, truly impressed. I was going to do a nice strong outside run this morning.... until I woke up at 7 am and it was SNOWING!!:scared1:

Too cool indeed about his FB page. What an honor! Cannot wrap my brain around the snow! I, too, can't imagine a 6 mile short run! Hope you got everything together for your scrapbooking convention. Sounds like a fun weekend, and then, Disney time! Great times ahead, miss traveler!

My scrapbooking is really, pathetic. DD2 doesn't have one. I'm about 8 years behind on my 10 year olds, with 30 rolls of film that never got developed. I'm trying to do snapfish books of my digitals, just so I have something, but I haven't even gotten one of those done lately!

I love reading everyone's posts, what a great group!:woohoo:

I know what you mean! I get seriously inspired and motivated, and probably share more here than I do with my IRL friends, that I never have time to talk to! :grouphug:

I was excited to see 155.8 on the scale this morning! I'll be a loser this week! I hope for a new low by Friday if I keep up this routine for another day and a half! The water is definitely helping me!

Way to go!!! Your determination is paying off!

I have to share a personal victory I just had.
Last week I ran a 5k in 48 minutes... today I ran it in 36.41. :cool1: I'm pretty pleased with myself.
Quotd today..hmm What are your favorite diet supplements? What has worked for you.

I'm not sure if this is considered a "supplement" but I drink one or two protein shakes a day. I always have one right after I work out and I usually have one around 3:30 p.m. when I start getting hungry. I bought a new flavor the other day, Chocolate Mint, it is DELISH!!
That's amazing. Knocking 12 minutes off in one week is great! I need to know more about this chocolate mint, used to be my favorite kind of ice cream before I discovered coffee flavored! That sounds yummy!

Could everyone send some PD to my son who just started his new job. He came home very upset. He is bored and he has no one to talk to like he did at his old job. At his old job he knew everyone and could talk to them all. They were like his family. He is now in new territory. THere is alot to learn before the person he is working with goes on vacation on the 9th of May and I know he is scared. It doesn't help that the person who is training him is from India and his only interest is cricket. TIA

:goodvibes for your son. I've had times in which I wasn't in sync with my colleages, and it makes it hard. Coupled with a lot to learn, no wonder he is upset!

I had a very frustrating evening. Took DD to gymnastics, dd2 fell asleep in the car, and woke up ill and whiny when we got home. Tried to work on my exam, but couldn't get in a groove. Finally did, and realized that I was answering the question incorrectly. Was really hard to highlight and delete a page and a half of work I'd actually gotten accomplished. Vowed to stay up late and finish, and dd2 couldn't sleep and needed me. Then she lost my ipod touch and cried about wanting to watch Princess and the Frog on it. The worst part is, I think she gave it to me and I put it somewhere. Hopefully we can find it this evening!

I had a counselor at work yesterday ask me if I was doing p90x yesterday. I laughed, and the guy was very complimentary. I've been getting a lot of compliments in the last week or so, I guess 35 pounds was the magic number for people to notice? It was odd that they all started at the same time?

I don't use any supplements, other than a multivitamin?? I have been drinking a TON of water this week, I guess it's helping to fill me up and I reach for it instead of something to chew? I usually keep Trident like crack. I think my eyeballs are floating!

Hope I can knock out a question or two on my exam today. I told DH last night I will be a new woman in a week and a half when my class is over and I get my grade. My mom commented that she was sure EVERYONE would be glad when I get done for a while. A not so subtle hint that it is consuming me right now?:rolleyes1

Have a great day!
Taryn

jenanderson--I am sitting at 168. Made it down to 167.4 earlier this week. Maybe our 167s could get together and ride off into the sunset together.;)

flipflopmom--sending good thoughts your way for a smooth finish to your exam questions.

jennz--Scotland sounds great!

maizezoe--Congrats on the run time!!

pjlla--have a great weekend scrapping!

donac--sending good thoughts your son's way.:goodvibes

Thanks everyone for the good wishes. Yesterday I cleaned out our t-shirt drawers, did all the laundry, straightened my bathroom, cleaned out both my email inboxes, tried to take a nap, and went to Target. It was a long day. I am not good at waiting.

NSV--I am in my "skinny jeans" from last time I lost weight. They are still a 10 but I am thrilled. I bought another pair at Target. I need to get rid of some bigger jeans, but in the back of my head I keep thinking--what if I gain back again? I am down .4 this week, which I will take considering I didn't work out the past two days.

My appointment is at 9:00. The nurse called yesterday, and she was really nice. She asked me a ton of questions. She said if they want a stress test they will schedule that for another day.

QofthDay--I take a multi-vitamin and occasionally take electrolyte supplements. I also bought some just barley grass--but have only taken it once. A couple people have told me about it.

Have a great day everyone!

Quotd tues. : Share with us something you have done lately that you are proud of.

At the same time as this challenge I was enrolled in a local 12 week Biggest Loser contest. We had our finale a couple weeks ago. I was the biggest women's loser AND the biggest overall loser percentage-wise! YEAH ME! I won a $500 fashion make-over from our mall. I work for the schools, so I can't wait to go shopping at the end of July after I've done some more bodywork and before the start of next school year.

In other news, I've been slacking off here. After a plateau, I'm losing weight again, but I haven't been connecting and posting on here regularly. I really need that. The pounds are dropping but I'm just feeling BLAH. So, my goal for May and the final few weeks of our DIS challenge is to post on this thread DAILY. Even if it's just to say "here." And I'm committing to picking up COW again starting tomorrow. That daily focus really helps. Let the countdown begin!

flipflopmom - I know what you mean - I think I share more here too! :goodvibes

Donac - bag of pixie dust sent to your son!!

carniedog - congrats on winning that contest - very exciting! That shopping spree will be fun!!

QOTD (yesterday) : I can't take anything with calcium or vitamin D in it. I did just start taking an antioxidant and super B; I think the B has helped with my energy level. I probably need to go get a blood test for my thryoid though, I'm a month overdue and have been dragging and DH thinks it needs adjusted. Anyway off topic there! I love those protein shakes but they are pretty high in calories. Do you guys add skim milk to yours? I do with mine, maybe I should just add water.

I had that happen this past year and it was so hard to learn to like anything about my new job. I will be thinking of him and hoping that he finds a friend there soon! :tinker: Pixie dust for him!

Taryn - I will let you have pound 167! :rotfl:

Sounds like you had a stressful night last night with the iPod situation and then your questions...you will totally be a new woman when this is over. You must be feeling good that people are noticing the changes in how you look though - how motivating!

I am really excited for you - it is amazing to me that you are getting through your grad school stuff while dieting! I know how stressful that is and you have done great!

jenanderson--I am sitting at 168. Made it down to 167.4 earlier this week. Maybe our 167s could get together and ride off into the sunset together.;)

I think this is a great idea! My 167 left again today and I am determined NOT to see it again! :goodvibes

Yeah YOU! That is great that you won and I bet you will love spending the prize! Way to go!

Yesterday was a really good day for me. I biked 3 miles to work, ran 1 mile at work, biked 3 miles home from work, ran 3 miles with DH and then did a bunch of work on my abs right before bed.

I ran the 1 mile with my students because they had to run for their Presidential Fitness challenge. Many of the boys wanted to be able to get the award and were scared they would not make the time that they needed. I ran with them, cheered them on as we went and then let them all cross the finish line first. My time was 8:46 and I cannot believe that I could run that fast for a whole mile.

I will be honest...yesterday I ate a candy bar. It is these stupid sort of things that I do to myself that causes pound 167 to keep coming back into the picture. I had such a sweet tooth going at work and that was all I had. I am going to stop today and pick up some Dove chocolates this morning. That way when I need some chocolate at work, I can have just ONE piece and not go all crazy. I did track everything yesterday and was actually fine even with the candy bar...it just was not a good use of my points though.

Despite the candy bar, this morning the scale was down to 165. I am hoping to really workout and do well again today so that tomorrow I can report a great number.

Time to get going to work. My goal for today is to drink water all day again today and then to do my cross training tonight.

Have a great Thursday everyone!
Jen

Good morning everyone!

A big thank you to 50sjayne for being our coach this week! I have a lot of movies to catch up on thanks to one of your questions!

Please be sure and PM those COW numbers to donac and the weigh in numbers to LuvBaloo tomorrow.

We've lost over 1200 pound as a group -- will we make it to 1250 before the end of the challenge? I sure hope so! :thumbsup2

Good morning, losers! Good morning maintainers! Good morning and :grouphug: to the rest of us :) Congratulations to the top 10 this week--I hope to be on that list again this week.
I think it's interesting that there are still 32 of us here and active--and I counted the number of us on that 'goal' list that Shannon posts after the weekly results and that list has 30 on it... coincidence? I think not ;) I am especially impressed with those that are in the negatives on that list who are still here and reporting and working hard or at least being here and reporting to remind them of goals. :thumbsup2:

You're right, Liz, it takes a lot of effort and determination to stick it out to the bitter end, even when things aren't the way you want! Yay for us!

Lisa you make me laugh! :goodvibes

Personally I would like to say farewell to all pounds whose number starts with a "2" -- I'm hoping that will be in July. :cool2:

I was excited to see 155.8 on the scale this morning! I'll be a loser this week! I hope for a new low by Friday if I keep up this routine for another day and a half! The water is definitely helping me!

Yay for a new low! :cheer2:

Well. Quotd today..hmm What are your favorite diet supplements? What has worked for you.

Yep, Susan, I remember the Dexatrim and all those other supplements -- the ones that are off the market because they were dangerous. :scared1: You are right that they don't teach you how to live healthy. I take a multivitamin now and I am getting to like the protein drinks. I really need to give the green tea a better shot. This week-end I am hoping to do some planning and get myself put back together -- a couple of frazzled weeks and there has been some downfalls due to not having what I should.

I have to share a personal victory I just had.

Last week I ran a 5k in 48 minutes... today I ran it in 36.41. :cool1: I'm pretty pleased with myself.

Wow, Ann, great time reduction! :cool1:

Just talked to my dad and I think he's lonely, he asked me if we were coming down before we go to Scotland...that's going to be tough! I told him we were thinking about it and will see if we can scrape the money together and right away he ask "How much do you need? I'll send it" That is so NOT my dad! I told him we'd figure it out and then he said "I don't have much a 5 or 10" :rotfl: I told him he can buy us dinner down there. ;) So...any ideas on how to come up with some quick cash?:wizard:

Did my walk and exercise today. I've been a c25k dropout and haven't started back, I'm not sure that I WANT to run...maybe 20 pounds might change my mind though.

, jenn. It was probably a tough week for your Dad, too. Can you ask him to come see you since it would be easier for him to come to you? I think that Scotland will be a blast!

Running may not be your thing -- is there something else that you would like to try? It does change your body, though, but maybe it's because it is something that I never, ever did, even when I was a kid. :rotfl: Part of my enthusiasm is getting an extra Disney trip out of it! ;)

Could everyone send some PD to my son who just started his new job. He came home very upset. He is bored and he has no one to talk to like he did at his old job. At his old job he knew everyone and could talk to them all. They were like his family. He is now in new territory. It doesn't help that the person who is training him is from India and his only interest is cricket. TIA

pixiedust: to your DS, donac. The first week at a new job is hard. You don't know anyone, you don't know what you are doing, where anything is and you have to entertain yourself while you wait for your trainer to show you what you are doing. I'm sure it is a big difference from being the "go to" guy who knew everyone. I'm sure he will pick up on things quickly and start to feel more comfortable. The poor guy is starting his "real adult life" -- that is a bit of a weight on your shoulders!

Thanks, Mom! Thanks a lot! :rotfl2:

NSV--I am in my "skinny jeans" from last time I lost weight. They are still a 10 but I am thrilled. I bought another pair at Target. I need to get rid of some bigger jeans, but in the back of my head I keep thinking--what if I gain back again? I am down .4 this week, which I will take considering I didn't work out the past two days.

Good luck on your appointment today, Rose. :flower3:

I say get rid of all those old size jeans except for maybe one pair. You won't need them again and I think it helps you to make good choices when you remember you don't have any bigger clothes to fall back on. :goodvibes

Quotd tues. : Share with us something you have done lately that you are proud of.

Great accomplishment, carmiedog! :cool1: Onward and downward!

jenanderson, great job waving goodbye to pound 167 forever!

Have a great day all!

Just wanted to say hello and let you know I've been thinking of you all and hope you're having a good week. It's been a busy, crazy fun week for us with first communion on saturday i've done a ton of housework and yard work, and feel really good about that, and I'm going to finish everything tomorrow hopefully have some time tomorrow night to catch up on everything.

A big Congrats to Flipflopmom!!! :cool1: What a great week you had!!

A big whoo hoo to all the top losers, and to the rest of us who are hanging in there!!

I was going to catch up this morning, but free dining came out for Dvisa for aug-oct2, so I had to work the numbers, and I booked our trip for aug with the kids stay and play free which was a better deal, so I'm on a disney high right now!! Those poor people I work with are going to suffer today.:rotfl:

Keep up the great work everyone. Hope to be more present here next week.

WOW!!!:scared1: We've lost that much? That is awesome!!!

Yep! We so totally :rockband:! I think it is especially amazing since we couldn't break through 500 pounds in the fall challenge. It's harder to get that number to grow as we reach the end of this challenge -- can we make it to 1250?!? :confused3 With four more weigh ins I bet we can! :thumbsup2

Heck yes we do! And heck yes we can make it 1250. :yay:

What is the brand of protein shake? I love chocolate mint!

QOTD: I try and have at least 1 cup of green tea a day and I also try and have a 12 oz BL Protein drink. I can only find the powder at Shaw's. Has anyone found it anywhere else? I haven't checked Walgreens yet. I was hoping they would show it there on BL last night when they took Sunshine and Ashley to the store.

Time to go get ready for work. I had my enchiladas. I finished bottle #2 of water and will fix myself one more to take with me to work. Green tea when I get home and hopefully early to bed for a change!

Have a great night!

The Protein is called Integrated Supplements. I buy it at a store called Fit RX, which is where my nutritionist works. You can also buy it online at integratedsupplements.com. The chocolate mint is so good. It tastes like a melted down Frango mint. So good.

I saw BL Protein at Walmart.

Rose when is your appointment. I read about how frustrated you are about this. I felt the same thing. I had lost 30 pounds and then they found this problem. I was depressed. I did gain back the 30 pounds and it has been hard to lose it this time. I will be thinking of you and hoping for good news.

I agree I like fiber.

PD to your son! I hope he has better days coming up. It's really hard to start a new job.

flipflopmom - I know what you mean - I think I share more here too!

Jenn ~ I add water or skim milk. For a special treat, I add almond milk. Last night I added hot water to my chocolate mint protein and made hot chocolate. It was sooooooo good.

Dona - I am so sorry that your son is not enjoying his new job at this point. It is so difficult to transition to a new job...especially if he was working at an old job where everyone was so close. I had that happen this past year and it was so hard to learn to like anything about my new job. I will be thinking of him and hoping that he finds a friend there soon! :tinker: Pixie dust for him!

Great time on your mile!!! :cool1: And YIPPEE on hitting 165!! I can't wait until I get to 165 but I have a long way to go!

Woohoo 1250! :cool1:

Carmiedog--Congrats!

Kathy--have a great first communion! Congrats on booking the trip.

Maizezoe--Do you know if the protein powder has any artificial sweeteners?

Back from the doctor. My dh told me when I walked out I had such a look of relief on my face. I have atrial premature complex, which if you're going to have an irregular heart beat, it sounds like it's the one to have. He said it is happening frequently, but if I'm not having any noticeable palpitations, there's no reason to treat it. If I start having symptoms there's medicine I can take. He said it is happening quite frequently, and asked me about caffeine/stimulant use. I have almost no caffeine, and take almost no medicine. So he told me to stay off the caffeine, avoid decongestants and otherwise keep doing what I'm doing. I told him I thought I was doing everything right and felt healthy and then this happened. He said you are healthy and you're doing everything you need to be doing.:goodvibes That made me feel good. I do need to work on managing the stress/anxiety because that could be another cause. Tomorrow I go for an echocardiogram just to make sure my heart looks good. He said he has no reason to believe anything will show up, but wants to rule things out.

DH and I are going for a run tonight. I can't wait! Then tomorrow after my appointment I'm going to strength class and then maybe a little bit on the elliptical. I've already put some new songs on my ipod.

Thanks again for all the good wishes. I'm not even worried about the echocardiogram tomorrow.:)

Have a great day!

Woohoo 1250! :cool1:

Great news!!!!!

So I checked out your protein powder and it looks great! Of course they don't sell in in IN but that FitRx ships for a low cost.

Great news!!!!!

It's really good... let me ask my nutritionist if he has any samples and I will send them to you if you want.

Yeah for the good report!!! I'm so glad it went well!

The protein powder doesn't have any artificial sweeteners or artificial flavors. It's a very clean powder.

I saw BL Protein at Walmart.

I've checked the WalMarts around here and didn't see it there. Maybe I will check again this weekend. Closest one is about 20 minutes from where I live.

Having another good day. I've done 3 miles so far. Gonna do another 3 after picking DD2 up from preschool. Counting my calories and drinking my water religiously. I was only down .2 this morning from yesterday so I hopefully can get rid of a bit more by the morning. We have soccer practice tonight so that will help. I'll drink my water and tea after practice.

Wicked windy here! Howling! YIKES! But otherwise it's gorgeous!

Enjoy the rest of your day!

I'm having a good week weight wise. I'm down a couple of lbs and I've been drinking my water (well Crystal Light). My youngest is home today with a sore throat and fever. I hope he feels better tomorrow since he has a pizza party at school and his first Lacrosse game ever.

Heck yes! You're the best!:cloud9:

I was surprised to see the cholesterol in the protein powders, I never even noticed that until I looked yours up and did the "compare" chart.

Our Walmarts don't carry the BL powder either, but they do have Jillian's and I thought that was good. It's 100 calories/scoop.

I had to double check where you are from when I read "wicked" :lmao: Didn't realize you were a Mass'er! I had a roomie in Orlando down from Mass on the college program and everything was wicked - good bad or otherwise.:goodvibes

Poor guy! Here's hoping an afternoon of rest is what it takes to feel better tomorrow.

Did my P90 sweat today and then walked in the park with my dogs and daughter. It was fun but our allergies are acting up bad now - mine, dd's and one dogs. ;) And that's after we took our pills! Oh well back inside and it'll go away right?

Taryn - I will let you have pound 167! :rotfl:

Sounds like you had a stressful night last night with the iPod situation and then your questions...you will totally be a new woman when this is over. You must be feeling good that people are noticing the changes in how you look though - how motivating!
Jen
Thanks for the sweetness! DD ran the mile (she's 10) last week when her allergies were really bothering her and it took her 9:25. Came home and had me check the website, and then asked her P.E. teacher if she could re-run it. She did it yesterday in 8:25! There's my hard earned money and time for gymnastics at work. She got presidental last year, did more pull ups than anyone in 4-7th grades. She wants to do the same this year! Great time for you!!!

Thanks! And I love the Disney high! When my class is over next week, I'll be in serious planning mode myself! :cloud9: Congrats on getting the trip!

:yay::yay: for good news and getting to run!!!! So glad for you!

My youngest is home today with a sore throat and fever. I hope he feels better tomorrow since he has a pizza party at school and his first Lacrosse game ever.

Hope he is much better now!

At the same time as this challenge I was enrolled in a local 12 week Biggest Loser contest. We had our finale a couple weeks ago. I was the biggest women's loser AND the biggest overall loser percentage-wise! YEAH ME! I won a $500 fashion make-over from our mall.!

:cool1: Awesome! That's great, and welcome back!

We've lost over 1200 pound as a group -- will we make it to 1250 before the end of the challenge? I sure hope so! :thumbsup2

Thanks, Mom! Thanks a lot!
:cool1:1200 pounds????? Since the beginning of this challenge? WOAH.. 50 more in 4 weeks? I gotta get back to running soon to do my share! ;)

The Protein is called Integrated Supplements. I buy it at a store called Fit RX, which is where my nutritionist works. You can also buy it online at integratedsupplements.com. The chocolate mint is so good. It tastes like a melted down Frango mint. So good.

I'm going to have to look that up. Sounds soooo yummy!

My, we've been a chatty little group today! ;) Girls are playing well, so I'm going to hit the test again, for a little while. Their mission when I am done is to FIND MY IPOD. And put their clothes away. I had a week's worth of clean laundry stacked up on top of the dryer. Check in later!

Sorry was hoping to post quotd today earlier but got caught up in epic hotel search. Husband has decided all the sudden that getting a hotel on the way down might be a good idea so I've been going through hotel/motel options past Sacramento to about Santa Nella since he has also decided he hates Sacramento and doesn't want to stop there. Of course not as that's the easiest priceline win....I've been systematically going through travel sites kind of like the raptor from Jurassic park, testing the fence for weakness. I don't want to spend more than $55 a night and I want a jacuzzi and a comfortable bed. So far no 'friggin luck and my husband won't let me test the waters on Priceline although I'm dying to. I'm a priceline junkie. He's still not sure if staying somewhere overnight is a better idea than driving all night. Last time we swore never again but the problem is wasting a half day of Disney. I think I'll take this to the main Disney board...thanks for your patience guys. Oh yeah I've been wanting to eat too- already splurged on triscuits and boursin....

OK I got it! Came to me in the shower.

Quotd : What is/was your favorite piece of clothing? It could be anything from a prom dress to a ragged old tshirt.

I came to me in the shower when I was thinking I better try on those pants I got in Palm springs to make sure they are still fitting good. The scale hasn't budged but I'm not sure if I trust it. And I love those pants so much they are a huge motivation to stay in them. the first thing that came to mind for me was a short sleeved red sweater I had when I was in high school. It was really soft and kind of low cut. I also had a pair of red snakeskin 5 inch spiked heels I adored. I out of highschool for those! Lol.

Have fun! :goodvibes
