Biggest Loser 9 Spring challenge -- Part 2! HERE WE ARE! :)

QOTD: What is one exercise/sport, etc. you have always wanted to try and/or wish you fit more into your schedule?

Swimming. I'm not a consistent swimmer, and should work on my form more.

Hey Everyone! Thought I would post this picture of corinnak, princessbride6205 and me at the race today. It was really fun to put a face with a name and meet some of my WISH friends!

Great pic! What a great time, so cool you ladies got to meet up!!! Must have been a fun day!

Jen, do you like running in knee highs? I see a lot of pics of people at races with them on???

Great picture! Thanks for sharing. You all look awesome and like you are having a great time!:goodvibes

QOTD for Sun. 4/18: If you had 2 hours all to yourself, what would you do?
I had 2 hours to myself yesterday and I cleaned out my closet and bureaus, and my son's, and it felt so good. I filled a big trash bag with clothes I never wear, and a bag of things he's outgrown to be handed down to his cousin. We have a second hand store nearby that takes everything and the profits go to big brother/big sister. It wasn't very fun, but it needed to be done. Now, if I had a free two hours today, I would rent a chick flick movie and make a cup of tea and watch it.

What an awesoe picture, and how fun to meet some fellow dis-ers. I met Tigger813 and some others at a dis meet and it was so nice to put faces with the names. Congrats to all of you on the race.

I had a breakdown like this a couple of weeks ago. I told dh I would prefer him not to bring half gallons of ice cream into the house. He joked that the police would find it funny to see him in front of the house eating ice cream but the next morning he got rid of all the chocolate sauce (he buys a new bottle every time he gets ice cream and then doesn't check to see if there is any left so I think at the time we had 3 bottles in the frig and I wasn't eating chocolate at all) He hasn't brought any ice cream home since. I do try to keep him supplied with strawberry bars. I used to get him pineapple bars but my supermarket do not carry them any more. Either the pineapple or strawberry bars are pure fruit and fruit puree. The each had about 70 calories each. we tried them the first time last Aug in DHS. He got one flavor and I got the other and halfway through we switched.
I have a hard time with myself and bringing food in the house some times, it must be so hard to get yourself under control and then have your husband bring in the challenging foods. Sometimes it takes a breakdown until it sinks in that what you're asking is so important to you, and it sounds like he gets it now.

Sat. 4/17 QOTD: What is one exercise/sport, etc. you have always wanted to try and/or wish you fit more into your schedule?
I would love to try Zumba, or any other type of dance class, but it just doesn't work right now to try and schedule a class.

We are going to the museum of science today, and I got tomorrow off as a bonus day off since work is quiet, so we might try to go see the marathon. I need to research a place where we might be able to see the race without a crazy crowd.

Have a nice sunday.:)

So I am a daily weigher. It helps me to see how my choices affect my weight, etc. I was prepared for at least a pound gain today. DH's birthday is next Sunday, but since I won't be in the mood celebrate, we celebrated last night. Didn't eat much during the day, but had a HUGE steak, baked potato, a piece of bread, glass of wine, and a brownie with whipped cream. MEGA SPLURGE meal. So this morning, I braced myself. I am down a pound???? Is this the elusive "big calorie meal revs metabolism occasionally" I've heard about? I didn't workout at all, just housecleaning and errand running?

It's already been a crazy morning. I woke up at 5:30, thought I'd get something accomplished, instead got on Dis. I heard DH get up at 6:00, but knew I used the last toilet paper upstairs, took him some, and DD2 woke up. IT was waayyy to early for her to be up, and I got back in the bed with her. She tried to go to sleep, but said the birds were keeping her awake. (We've been sleeping with the windows open, it's been so nice and I love to be cold when I am asleep), I fell back asleep, she pulled my hair and said "it is morning, mommy", I ignored her, fell asleep again, and she finally did. Just got up again. Jack in the box kind of morning!

Church, lunch with Mom, and then trying to finish up that paper! I did get some things marked off my list yesterday, so that felt pretty good. Have a relaxing Sunday!

OH, yeah, QOTD: Either a bubble bath with a book and at home pedi, or some serious cleaning!

Sunday QOTD: If I had two hours to myself I would read and take a nap! Now, if I were at Disney I would take a leisurely stroll around Epcot and check out all of the shops and exhibits!

Looking forward to a great day with some Disney folks for a Give a Day, Get a Disney day volunteer event the next town over.

Up 1.4 so far for the weekend. Ate bad stuff yesterday and drank some margaritas but didn't over do it. I will try and do some Wii later tonight and maybe some elliptical. Tomorrow is movie day and Tuesday we'll be having lunch at Kowloon in Saugus after going to the cemetery to visit in laws grave.
Not sure what we'll do on Wednesday. Maybe play games all day.

Gotta go make breakfast!

I gave my family a piece of my mind last night because I am getting tired of playing the martyr with the healthy eating. They wanted to make cookies last night. Cookie dough is DEFINITELY a trigger food of mine.... I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!! Can't resist it. And I didn't want the temptation before I was able to do another weigh-in this morning. They were arguing with me (mostly DH and DD) about how come they couldn't just make it and I don't eat any.... HUH!!?? A big sarcastic THANKS for making this even harder than it already is!!! :sad2: I was good and truly pissed off. And I let them know this. I told them it was bad enough that they expect me to scoop their ice cream on treat nights, and fill the Easter baskets, and prepare all of the meals, etc and still stick to my healthy eating plan.... but this was adding insult to injury. The cookies didn't get made last night, but I probably won't be able to stop them today. And that is okay..... it is a new week and I have a new batch of Flex points to use. But last night it was just the last straw.... and I told them so as I served them their Fenway Fudge ice cream that I didn't have ANY of!! :headache:

Nice numbers on your weigh in, pjlla! :thumbsup2 I don't think our families are deliberately clueless I think they just don't think about this stuff all the time like we do (and have to). I've had those discussions, too. Why ask the person who never gets to eat ice cream to fix a bowl of ice cream for you? :confused3

Just was catching up and got a brilliant idea. I'm going to check the distance from the hotel to the gate and then start walking that at least with him a few times a week. He's taking his first college class so he's been doing a lot more walking so that's great but he needs as much as he can get lol. the subject of the pedometer brought that up-- we both have one.;)

Susan, I think there is a map with all the walking distances in the sticky on the DL board. I remember that you and your son did a lot of walking last summer so it should be easy to get him in the swing of things! :goodvibes

Thanks everyone! It was a really great run today and we all finished. I will share that it was a PR for DH and I. We finished in just over 31 minutes (official results will be posted later). We did take photos but I have to figure out how to get them off my phone.

Congratulations to corinnak, princessbride6205 and jenanderson on their great race yesterday! :cool1: You ladies all look so happy and healthy! How fun to be able to meet and put faces to names.

And speaking of that, anyone else besides 50sjayne, 3TinksAndAnEeyore and me going to be at Disneyland 6/23 or 6/24? If so let us know because we will be having a little WISH meet of our own -- no running, but maybe a glass of wine! ;)

I think maintaining is way underrated, and I'm too am pretty much maintaining thru this challenge, but I like to think about where I would be if I wasn't a part of this challenge, and had totally given up, I know I would be up 10,20, ro 30 pounds. We gotta keep on trucking and we'll get there.

I totally agree, Kathy! :thumbsup2 I maintained the whole spring challenge last year but none of it came back. NONE OF IT and it had been a long, long time since I could say that. Great job on getting that run in even when you didn't feel like it! :goodvibes Enjoy watching the race -- sounds like fun!

, donac. See it's the ice cream trigger! :rotfl:

QOTD for Sun. 4/18: If you had 2 hours all to yourself, what would you do?

I agree with tigger813 on this one -- I would read and take a nap! :thumbsup2

Have a great day everyone!

I second the chick flick motion. Finished the second of the Twilight books and am ready for the second movie. popcorn:: God who wouldn't want one fo those...(Edward)

It is good to see pics of ya all--doing something so healthy. And it's fun to meet up with people. Yeah we'll have to coordinate at Disneyland!

There's this we could possibly do:

I think it's a bargain. It's $12 and you sign up at the wine bar in Wine Country Trattoria. You usually do this at the granite bar but when it wasn't busy, we were able to move to a little table nearby after we'd heard all of the info. I believe the tasting times are noon - 4.

They give you 3 types of port to try, the last being something called tawny port. Those are each paired with a different type of Ghirardelli chocolate, which goes from sweetest to darkest (% cocoa gets higher). Then you are told the history etc and you sip and nip. You're encouraged to then mix and match chocolates with ports and see what you prefer.

You end up getting a lot of port & chocolate, even though it doesn't look like that much to begin with.

Here is a tip: ask about the Magicale wine that is made in Italy exclusively for the Disney resort. Both times we did the port & wine tasting, we asked about it and got to have a little glass of Magicale to taste as well, I think because we were having so much fun! It normally costs $12/glass, $47/bottle.
forgot to mention you can do port and cheese (bleu cheese ) instead of chocolate

Yeah-- I'd forgotton how quick it is to the gates from HOJO--I think we can do better than that lol. (son and I walking)

I'd like 2 hours to lay out in the sun reading Kingdom Keepers 3. I'm craving sunlight and want to work on my tan. Unfortunately it has been raining and spitting snow here for the last 2 days and the forecast isn't great for next week. Oh well, the kids are on vacation this week so it's not like I'll have 2 hours to myself anyway.

Snow! Unbelievable. Working on your tan...ah sounds like pure bliss!

Swimming. I'm not a consistent swimmer, and should work on my form more.

Another vote for swimming-you all have me really thinking about that membership.

A chick flick sounds great, especially with a cup of tea. Very relaxing!

Same here.

OH, yeah, QOTD: Either a bubble bath with a book and at home pedi, or some serious cleaning!

I have heard from Jillian that there is some value in having a high calorie meal.

Bubble bath-greath idea!

Sunday QOTD: If I had two hours to myself I would read and take a nap! Now, if I were at Disney I would take a leisurely stroll around Epcot and check out all of the shops and exhibits!

Nap-another great idea! I love a good, long nap myself.

I agree with tigger813 on this one -- I would read and take a nap! :thumbsup2

Have a great day everyone!

Naps are so great!

I second the chick flick motion. Finished the second of the Twilight books and am ready for the second movie. popcorn:: God who wouldn't want one fo those...(Edward)

I love a good Lifetime movie myself!

QOTD for Sun. 4/18: If you had 2 hours all to yourself, what would you do?

I would go to the gym and run on the treadmill. I love the gym. Then I would go to Old Navy.

QOTD for Sun. 4/18: If you had 2 hours all to yourself, what would you do?

I would go to the gym and run on the treadmill. I love the gym. Then I would go to Old Navy.

I love going to the gym too. At first, I hated exercise. Now, it's such a stress reliever that I miss it when I haven't went in a few days.

Today was a good day, very OP. I've been tracking my food diligently and that is definitely helping. Also, I'm drinking my water.

Have a great week!

Monday's QOTD: Here is another "what if" question. Mickey Mouse sent you $100 to spend on you only. How would you spend it?

I love to go to the gym, but I'd love to have more magazines to read while on the treadmill. I'd spend the money on a few magazine subscriptions, especially ones that are weight loss/healthy lifestyle relate.

QOTD: I would buy the Magic of Mickey Ring that the Bradford exchange is putting out! I have fallen in love with the ring! I get more excited whenever I see it!!!!! It now keeps popping up on my FB page several times a day. I may just have to save my money/tips and get it for myself!

No exercise today. I guess this will be my week off. I'm just not motivated right now. I have been stuck between 155 and 160 the past several weeks so I will just start from there next week! I will probably do some Wii at some point tomorrow and take my own lite popcorn to the movies in the morning. Food court for lunch followed by another movie.

Enjoy your day tomorrow! I'll probably be stopping in at some point in the morning and then again in the afternoon.

Thanks to everyone for all the positive comments about our race! The races are what makes the training all worth while to me. It is so great to see all the hard work pay off and it feels great to cross a finish line!

Great pic! What a great time, so cool you ladies got to meet up!!! Must have been a fun day!

Jen, do you like running in knee highs? I see a lot of pics of people at races with them on???

I do like running in knee highs! :thumbsup2 The first time I wore them, I did it for warmth. I like running in my skirt and once I start, I get really hot. I thought the knee highs would help keep me a bit warmer. Then, at my first race, I saw TONS of people wearing them. I like to wear them to races because then people know who to look for! I would imagine that as it gets hotter, I will not enjoy having them on though.

Alright, I am behind so I had best get caught up...

4/16 Friday QOTD: Do you wear/use a pedometer? If so, do you think it helps you on your weight loss journey? If not, is there a reason why you don't? Do you think that it could help you on your journey?

I don't wear a pedometer. I have thought about it and did try it for a couple of days but I forget about it all the time. I guess I don't worry about it all that much because I know I am getting enough steps in through all my running.

4/17 Saturday QOTD: What is one exercise/sport, etc. you have always wanted to try and/or wish you fit more into your schedule?

Yoga is still on my list for trying one day. I just don't do it because I don't want to pay to learn how to do it. I might try a community education class some time though. The other one is belly dancing! :rotfl2: Seriously, I have heard it is great exercise for the core and I just think it could be fun.

4/18 Sunday QOTD: If you had 2 hours all to yourself, what would you do?

I would like to take a warm, bubble bath and then spend some time catching up on my correspondence...all while drinking a good bottle of wine!

It has been a really long week. There were too many things happening at school, I had my taxes to do, we had a huge amount of commitments and then I ended up feeling horrible. I struggle with spring allergies but it has changed into a cold of sorts with a cough that hurts my chest. After the 5K on Saturday (a real struggle when I felt like this), I ended up sleeping away most of the day yesterday and today. DH and I should have run 6 miles today but I just could not do it. Instead, I did some stretching and light exercises and then took another nap. The cough is not getting any better and I am feeling exhausted. It looks like it could be another long week.

On a positive note, I have been perfect about logging my food since Friday. I have been working hard at eating balanced, healthy meals and not using points on candy. Since I haven't felt that great, I have not eaten all my points the past 2 days...you would think that would cause me to lose weight but it hasn't. I am a bit discouraged because I seem to be stuck with my weight loss. I have been working hard at exercise, logging all my food (I even have been weighing to be sure I record the right amounts) and the scale just will not move. I guess I will be happy it is not going up.

My goal for this upcoming week is to keep on doing what I am doing and then log all my water to be sure I am getting enough each day. Have a great night everyone!

Jen

Well - it's almost 10 days since last I was here--and all I can say is--I'm so glad that you guys are here--I'm gonna need help to get back on track... I thought I was an emotional eater--but my emotional eating is NOTHING compared with the damage I can do with stress--and this last week+ has been full of stress--mostly stress of the unknown - and I'm a wreck. I've been in a fairly deep funk and it's compounded with TOM (which I know has decreased my ability to deal with the stress). Hopefully I should have this stress 'solved' in the next couple of weeks--will I get everything ready for the appraisal that will hopefully happen this week? Will we get a loan so we can either move or renovate this summer? Will he get a job where the rest of my family is moving? How stressful will mom's move to her new place be? ...

So I sit here, having just finished eating a HUGE brownie, knowing that I am going to have to face the scale tomorrow morning and get back on track and deal with whatever weight is staring back at me after 2 weeks of no exercise and eating just like I used to. I took away my clippie--cause I'm not sure which one I am going to get to have...

I wanted to get on here tonight to thank you all for being here and for your encouragement. I am so glad that I found this week's COWs and I'll start those tomorrow morning--I so need the minute to minute reminders that my little spreadsheet to track my weight and COWs gives me--staring at me from the bottom of my computer screen.

And, as someone said in one of the posts that I have scanned through today--it's a good time to reflect on where I was in December 2009--and how far I've come and the good habits that I can have when I actually try and remembering how good I felt healthwise and about myself when I was trying and succeeding. I still have more than 100 pounds to lose (close to not but I'm sure it's back to over 100) so this is going to be a long journey--and I'm so glad that you are here! Thanks!!

:) Liz

happysmyly :grouphug: Stress/anxiety can be a crippler sometimes. I'm glad you have a plan to get back on plan tomorrow.

jenanderson--hope you feel better soon!

tigger813--have a great week of no classes with your kids.

Qoftheday--I would like two extra hours with dh. I'm only working 1/2 time, and no kids at home, but dh and I just feel like we haven't had any quality time together lately--where one or the other of us hasn't felt like we should be doing something.

I finally am going to the doctor today. I've been really stressed lately, so I'm hoping she will say this heart rate thing is nothing to worry about.

We had opening week for our minor league baseball team this week. I ate too much junk, and worse had too much beer. I talked to dh and we're going to go alcohol free until we go to Disney in May. I don't think I was having so much that it was an issue, but I really was starting to think of having a beer as a way to de-stress. I don't want to go down that road. And when I think about it, it is really silly to workout so much and eat well (most of the time) and then drink a bunch of wasted calories. So no beer, french fries or onion rings. (They have really good fries and onion rings at the ball park.) I have worked too hard to put weight back on eating such unhealthy food.

Have a good day everyone. I'm going to strength class, and then I'll probably get on the elliptical for a little bit.

I think it's time to lay off the weight loss journey a bit. I'm stressing myself out over it. I have been the same weight for a month now. I know you would all say that's a good thing that I have maintained, but I'm kicking my butt at the gym and the only results I've gotten lately is a lot of hip pain. This week I'm just gonna cool off, not track and just walk at the gym. I need to let me hip and my mind relax a little bit. I will not go over board with the food. I lost my original 50 lbs without tracking and just following the Core Plan, so I think that's what I am gonna do.

I was soooo bad this weekend! Going to have to get with it so I don't get too out of sorts! I also had too many drinks. I will try not to overdo it! Gotta get back to my water!!!!!

Time to start getting ready for the day. Just folded 4 bags of laundry and the girls are putting them away in their rooms. I'll do my clothes later. Got 2 more loads to take care of including sheets! Off to the movies at around 10 so we can get tickets for the first movie. At least I'll get some walking in at the mall between movies.

Enjoy your day everyone!

I'm working less this week and my kids are home for their April vacation. I'm hoping to stay OP this week as I won't be tempted to eat out. When I bartend at work they buy my dinner so of course I eat. When I waitress I have to pay for dinner (reduced pricing), but I usually forgo the calories and eat at home. Hopefully with less bartending shifts I can stay OP. I also plan to get my house in shape this week. I have no excuses as I'll be home. That will also count as extra exercise. I need to get on track and stay there as our vacation is now less than 3 months away.

If Mickey Mouse handed me $100 to spend on myself...I would buy the camera that I've been wanting. I would like to upgrade to the Canon SX20 as my current camera has very little zoom and no image stabilization. Since I don't mind being in pictures now, I'd like to improve the quality of the pictures that we take:thumbsup2
