Biggest Loser 9 Spring challenge -- Part 2! HERE WE ARE! :)

Hello everyone. Still hanging in there! Not a good month last month as far as weight loss though. Have to make dinner and run kids around before I do homework but just wanted to check in. I'll try to catch up a lil soon!

Great haircut Ann! And congrats on the 40!

I can't leave the Sweetart Jelly Beans alone!!!! OMG they are so YUMMY! Nothing for the rest of the night but water and I want to squeeze in a workout tonight too! At least they are fat free!!!!!:rotfl:

Ugh. Need some uplifting. I just had my first failed run of Couch to 5K. I tried running along the road, got rocks in my shoes, it's really hot, my stomach started hurting (abs), and I seriously misgaged the incline of a couple of hills. I just had to stop running and walk, went straight home, and only did 1.5 miles. I drank plenty of water today, ate my banana, but it was just too much. It feels like a bunch of excuses, but I just couldn't do it tonight. Midriff still hurting, feet hurting, sweating profusely, feeling like a failure, and now I just want to go to bed! Anyone runners ever have runs like this? Only ran about a mile.... of course, that's a lot better than I could do when I started 2 months ago.

Good evening everyone,

Congrats to all the top losers, our maintainers, and Heather our biggest loser:cool1::cool1: Hugs to those struggling.
We had 90 degree temps here today, so after work and a dentist appt, we went to the beach, and Michael went swimming in the ocean!! He is such a nut. The water was freezing. Oh, to be a kid again. He's now in the tub playing with his ninja turtles, which he hasn't done in ages. He's into showers now, so I'm taking advantage of tub time. I always used to come on the computer while he played in the tub. I've done better with food this week, but don't know if I will have lost what I gained over the weekend. Friday will tell.

I did do w6d2 c25k this morning before work, and it is the last of the run/walk intervals, so from here on out, I'm supposed to run for at least 20 min. I don't know if I'll make it every day. Today was hard, and I know I wouldn't have made it the 20 min straight. But I will keep on trying.

Maiziezoe- Your hair looks so cute. I love it. Congrats on 40 pounds down!! And 42 years ain't so bad. the 40s are the new 30s, you know.

Pjlla- I can imagine that it is difficult to see yourself as the thin person you are now, after having the overweight image so long. You should try to wear the more fitted clothes, and make sure you walk by lots of windows and mirrors to see your reflection a lot, and I bet that would take you by surprise. You look amazing.

Jenn- Glad you are feeling better this week. Isn't it great that your body is used to the exercise now, and you need it? I'm sure after a second day of exercising again, you'll be feeling right back to your active self.

Flipflopmom- It sounds like your run was a tougher course than your used to, and maybe you were running faster than you're used to with it being on the side of the road. I am very new to the running, but notice that I try to run too fast some days, especially if there are a lot of people at the track, and then I feel like I'm going to die, and try to slow it down. One mile is a great accomplishment, and we all have our bad days, so cut yourself some slack, and rest up. Are you running just the 3 days like the program says, or doing more? I think the 3 days is perfect, and having the day or two in between is good for the body to recoup. Hope your next run goes better.

For games, we love Apples to Apples, Scrabble Jr, Uno, Checkers, and Yahtzee.

Have a nice night.

I have a few minutes to post my response to the QOTD.

My favorite game, hmm. I don't know. I really have no idea. I like UpWords, but I haven't played it in ages.

Not expecting a loss this week. I'm hoping to not gain more than a pound or two actually. I need to get in some exercise. I've been focusing on eating this week and have not been very successful at all. I have been better about getting in my water.

Have a great day tomorrow!

Ooooohhhh... and I hit -40 today! Whooo Hooo.

I love the new do and congrats on 40 lbs.

My answer to the QOTD: My family used to spend pretty much every night playing Sorry (when a tornado warning came out we would take it into the bathroom until the warning passed) and rummy. I used to love woopin' up on my dad! Now we tend to play online games on Pogo. My fraternity (Mu Phi Epsilon) will have game parties every once in a while (dry campus) and I have found that I LOVE Apples to Apples - you find out ALOT about a person playing that game! It is greatness.

Ooooohhhh... and I hit -40 today! Whooo Hooo.

Congratulations! I always love getting my hair cut - it brings out another side of me that makes me feel brand new. It is a wonderful way to mark a weight loss milestone!

I am so excited for next week. I'll have this huge fundraiser behind me. Saturday is the basket raffle and indoor carnival that I've been working on since the first of the year. I am praying that we have a good turn out and that we raise the rest of the funds we need to send the 8th grade on their class trip and to throw them their grad dance. Between getting the Lacrosse programs up and running and the fundraiser I have given myself more stress than I was prepared to deal with and I have gained more weight than I want to acknowledge. I've also been stuck at home since Saturday with a sick kid and it that TOM. I am so looking forward to a fresh start next week. I am planning to knock my weight loss out of the park. There, I just admitted my failures and set a new goal.

Hmmmmmm?????? My last question for the week??????? What will it be??????? Should I be like Ryan Seacrest and make you all wait until after the break (tomorrow?) or give it to you now?

I'll give it to you now...before I forget what it will be!

Watching American Idol is inspiring me for tomorrow's question:

Thursday QOTD:Who is your all time favorite music group or singer?

I have to say that I LOVE QUEEN and JOURNEY! I can't pick just one! Seen Journey twice in concert (post Steve Perry but still awesome)! When You Love A Woman was our first dance at our wedding! They are both on the IPOD! Freddie Mercury was just an amazing singer! I also have a place in my heart for Duran Duran!

BONUS Question: What are you reading now? Do you prefer to read a book or listen to an audiobook?

I'm going to be reading Kingdom Keepers 3 starting this weekend. I am also listening to The Fellowship of the Ring on my IPOD. I like to do both. If I am in the car I like to listen to audiobooks especially if it's a long trip. When I was going to massage school I would listen to audiobooks on the 30 minute ride to and from school. I listened to Harry Potter and even the Chronicles of Narnia radio recordings.

I'm very chatty tonight aren't I? I did 8 miles total today...just finished 2 on the elliptical before hopping on here!

I have really enjoyed reading your responses! It has really helped me being coach this week! I will have a good loss as long as I can control myself one more day! I plan on staying OP for the most part this weekend. Gonna workout and drink lots of water and less alcohol!

Have a great night! Ok, I'm done babbling!!!!!!! Must be the adrenaline from working out tonight! And the heat!

My answer to Thursday QOTD - I am a musical freak. I love Wicked, Sweeny Todd, Chess, etc. So any Broadway show, etc, is good with me. Idina Menzel is amazing. As far as groups go I do dig the classics like Journey and Queen, and some later groups like Pearl Jam and Guns n Roses, but I spend alot of time listening to Aerosmith and my absolute favorite - My Chemical Romance. I can't wait for their new cd! I would listen to them on my walk to work every day and would want desperately to keep walking till the cd was over. Alas the clock was waiting...

I love Aerosmith, Journey, Survivor the groups of my teenage years. If I had to pick someone current it would be the Zac Brown Band or maybe Sugarland. Variety, I like variety :rotfl:

My Inner Toddler has been on a huge screaming tantrum this last week. Or maybe it was the inner bratty teenager. Either way, I've been bad, bad, bad this last week. It could have been worse, but I've definitely not been on program. I kind of reigned it in today (mostly) and I did finally get out and did my run tonight. I hadn't run since last Sunday, so that had been ten days without running. Naughty, naughty. I'd stubbed my toe pretty badly last Monday and used that as an excuse (even though I knew it was an excuse) not to run. Especially not good since I have my first official 5K on Sunday. Luckily, I was still able to run for my whole 30 minutes and my pace was about the same. And it felt GOOD!

The other thing I'm proud about is that I continued to track all my calories even when I overate on brie cheese and crackers all Easter weekend. And one last thing I'm proud of is that I bought my DDs two small good chocolates for their Easter baskets (a small bunny the size of a man's thumb, and a chocolate flower on a stick) and the rest of their goodies were non-edible ones. I gave DD7 the Just Dance Wii Game after hearing Tigger813 rave about it. It's a huge hit with the entire family!

I'm looking forward to reading the last four or five days of postings, but did catch a glimpse of Maizezoe's new do and it looks SO cute!

maiziezoe - great hair cut! What a big change!

Thursday QOTD:Who is your all time favorite music group or singer?

BONUS Question: What are you reading now? Do you prefer to read a book or listen to an audiobook?

I like lots of music: Kiss, Shaquira, Toby Keith, Martina McBride, Cher.

Today I'm reading King of Foxes by Raymond Feist. Yesterday I finished reading the online draft of Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyers. I don't like audiobooks, I much prefer paperbacks.:goodvibes I read a lot of fantasy, some girlie books (like the Shopaholic ones) some mysteries.:goodvibes

On a positive note, I exercised today and yesterday. I was planning on having a low point day, but ended up taking the kids to McDonalds for a play date. Ended up staying within points for the day by having a salad a few fries.

Up early. Crashed hard early last night. Not sure what's up, maybe it's all the pollen, DD1 is struggling with her allergies really badly right now.

Today's QOTD: I don't have a favorite artist. I am a song person, love music, but generally have 1 or 2 by an artist that I like. I love songs with a beat, Black Eyed Peas, for example. My music tastes are about 15 years younger than I am. :rotfl: But I love mellow stuff, too, like Jason Mraz and Norah Jones. My ipod playlists are by mood. Mellow, sentimental, 80' and 90's, cleaning, running, current hits, Disney, summer songs, Christmas songs...

Bonus: I would be ashamed to admit what I am reading. Some little fluffy Harlequin book. I can only keep my eyes open for about 3 minutes before I fall asleep, so I don't want anything too intriguing. I'm also reading a study of the Montessori program for my Master's Degree class.

Thursday QOTD:Who is your all time favorite music group or singer?

I too am a musical theater person. But I also love the oldies, Mel Torme, Rosemary Clooney. I love the old songs like Rod Stewart did on his "Great American Song Book" I thought my husband was going to faint when I told him I wanted the latest Rod Stewart, I never listen to Rod Stewart's regular stuff.

I will also admit to this group I love Barry Manilow. Yes but he puts on a great show.

The other people who put on a great show is Steve Lawrence and Edie Gormet. dh and I saw them a couple of years ago before they retired. I think we were one of the youngest couple in the audience.

I also love Michael Finestein. He is coming to nj and I asked ds's to get me tickets for him for Mother's Day and my birthday in May.

BONUS Question: What are you reading now? Do you prefer to read a book or listen to an audiobook?

I like to read a real book but am looking forward to getting a Nook for Christmas just because of the storage issue we have in this house. I will read just about anything.

I just started Dan Brown's Lost Symbol. It has been sitting since ds2 brought it home. I startedit on Sunday and am almost half way done with it. I can see this one being made into a movie.

Have a great day.

Ooooohhhh... and I hit -40 today! Whooo Hooo.

It looks so cute from the back....how about a picture from the front?? And a big congratulations on being down 40 pounds. That is amazing! Try lifting a 40 pound weight or 40 pounds of flour.... it is a huge load and it is great that that is gone from your body!

Ugh. Need some uplifting. I just had my first failed run of Couch to 5K. I tried running along the road, got rocks in my shoes, it's really hot, my stomach started hurting (abs), and I seriously misgaged the incline of a couple of hills. I'm certainly no expert, but I wouldn't beat myself up about this if I were you. You are RIGHT that it is better than you would have done a few months ago. Give yourself some credit. Maybe repeat today's workout on your next exercise day. Don't be afraid to repeat some of the workouts if necessary. You know your body best. Maybe it was just too hot today... especially if your body has been used to running in much cooler temps.

Have a nice night.

Keep going on the C25K workout! You are doing so well. Like I said a few minutes ago, don't be afraid to repeat a day if it gives you trouble. What is more important is that you keep moving!!

You are right about being surprised by my reflection. I still am occasionally!!

I am so excited for next week. I'll have this huge fundraiser behind me. Saturday is the basket raffle and indoor carnival that I've been working on since the first of the year. There, I just admitted my failures and set a new goal.

Onward and downward.... right? Put the "failures" (or learning experiences, as they should be called) behind you and get a fresh start.

Hmmmmmm?????? My last question for the week??????? What will it be??????? Should I be like Ryan Seacrest and make you all wait until after the break (tomorrow?) or give it to you now?

I'll give it to you now...before I forget what it will be!

Well... I love to listen to music, but I'm an old fart and I listen to a lot of Broadway musical soundtracks, Disney music, and some oldies. One of my favorite CDs in my car right now is the "Best of the 70's Super Groups"!!:rotfl:

If I had to pick a group right now, I would pick Journey or Abba. If I had to pick an individual singer, I would probably pick Bryan Adams. See.... told you I was old!! But I really mix it up a lot and rarely listen to an entire album at a time.

ETA: I can't believe I didn't mention James Taylor. He is definitely a favorite. I've seen him in concert about three times over the course of the past 20 years. He just improves with age!

For reading.... I'm an avid reader, but strangely I haven't had much time for fiction lately. The two books by my bed right now are the 2008 Unofficial Guide To WDW.... just brushing up for my trip with DS in a few weeks and the 2008 is my most recent copy. I also am reading/browsing a book I picked up at the Goodwill last week called "Great Projects - The Epic Story of the Building of America, from the Taming of the Mississippi to the Invention of the Internet".... see I'm not just an old fart.... I'm a NERD!! :lmao:

Gotta run.... bbl......................P

Good morning! Hope you slept well and are having a great day so far :) If not-- hope it gets better.

QOTD - Music? I love musicals--new and old--though the classics are my favorites. Also really enjoy Billy Joel, Elton John, Barbara Streisand, Peter Paul & Mary, Simon & Garfunkel, the Carpenters... oh yeah - unlike others - I'm older in my music tastes than my real age ;) In fact - some evenings we really enjoy listening to the 40's station on cable.

What am I reading? I'm not really a fiction reader--and right now I'm reading through the Backwoods Home Anthology for years 1 & 2 (a great magazine if you're into homesteading and self-sufficiency stuff). Also working my way through reviewing 'Home Wiring 1-2-3'... yeah, I now, you're all jealous ;) I need to relax and finally read Twilight--Kimara loaned it to me ages ago and it sits there next to my bed--unread... I'll get there - maybe when things calm down a bit :)

Have a great day!! Good luck with the weigh in tomorrow morning!

Thursday QOTD:Who is your all time favorite music group or singer?

BONUS Question: What are you reading now? Do you prefer to read a book or listen to an audiobook?

My instinctive answer is Styx, but if you looked at my ipod you'd think it was Sammy Hagar, either alone or in Van Hagar.

I'm reading The Diva Paints the Town. It's a mystery series who's heroine is a domestic expert. Next up I have Heat Wave, related to the tv show, "Castle". I like to read murder mysteries, sci fi, and yes, those loopy Harlequins. I prefer to read books rather than listen to them.

I ran 6M on the TM this morning, and the scale went up 2 lbs. It's either the Chinese food I had for lunch yesterday, or PMS, or a combination. Really hoping things will settle back down before the weigh-in, but not overly hopeful. I won't be surprised if I gain another few lbs tomorrow, then I'll know it's PMS. It is disheartening, but I know that eventually it will work it's way out and I will have a "true" weight in a week or so.

Oh, and I just had to say "Fabulous new 'do' Maiziezoe! Lookin' mighty cute there! :yay:

Maria :upsidedow
