Hi! On my Moms laptop right now in Palm Springs. Went to a thrift shop yesterday and found out I am a size 10 now! I didn't have any summer pants/shorts now that I lost weight so was looking for some. Had noticed some of my 12's were loose but finally yesterday got brave and tried on 10's after 12's were still too loose--couldn't believe it. I've just been maintaining. What I'm wondering is maybe my skin is just settled and weight kind of redistributed...Anyways great motivation to stay on track the rest of this trip as my parents always want me to eat lol. Have to get off 'cause my Mom's a junkie to this game....Have a great week!

I hope that rubs off on me!!! :lmao:

WOOOHOOO!! What wonderful news. So happy for you, Liz!!!

QOTD Tuesday: What reality show, besides BL, would you like to participate in and why?

Definitely not the Amazing Race - I can gat lost in a phone booth!! And frankly, after living through less than ideal conditions in Iraq, I appreciate running water, electricity and hardened buildings too much to ever consider "Survivor". LOL. My top choice would be for "Yard Crashers" from HGTV - why can't we ever find Ahmed in our Home Depot???!!

80 minutes until BL! I can't wait! Going to do a few more miles on the elliptical while watching!

Had a chicken parm sub for lunch but a very light supper! I hadn't had much this morning either. Drinking my water! I left my newer bottles at the drs office this afternoon! CRAP! I really liked that bottle too! I'll be going back in a month but will have to find another one before that! Did 5 miles this morning so if I get in 2-3 tonight I'll be fine! I don't know if I'll watch the whole show as the Red Sox are playing the Yankees again tonight! GO SOX!

No real plans during the day tomorrow. DD2 has dancing at 4 and DD1 has her last theater class at 5:20 with a mini performance at 6. We'll probably eat supper in shifts again.

Just got a used sofabed from a friend who is taking our old one to the dump for us. It's dark green so it matches the room better and is a lot more comfy to sit on than the other one.

Back to my water and cleaning up before the show!!!!!

Congratulations! When are you due?

QOTD Tuesday: What reality show, besides BL, would you like to participate in and why?

I would have to say What Not To Wear. I'm short waisted and carry all my weight in my stomach, so I have a hard time knowing what looks good. I feel like I have to wear a Flexees undergarment or some other kind of fat-sucker-inner under dress shirts to keep the rolls under control even when I'm fairly thin. I'm also at a point where I could give them everything in my closet and not have any regrets!

For those who remember me mentioning DS's food allergies and skin rashes, we had an appointment with a pediatric dermatologist this morning at CHAD (Children's Hospital at Dartmouth) at 7 am (left the house at 5am :scared1:). He is really giving me faith that someone might FINALLY be able to help DS with these rashes. He took a punch biopsy, a few scrappings, and a few swabs to start diagnosing this mess. He thinks he may have a viral infection as well as a bacterial infection, along with the eczema. He gave me THREE prescriptions. He will be calling by Wed. to give us the results of the lab work and if it is what he thinks, I will be filling the Rx that day and starting DS on the meds. I am just PRAYING that this is the start of a full recovery for DS's skin issues. They have gone on since he was TWO YEARS OLD and I am just sick of doctors telling me it is "just dry skin" and it is normal and that skin lotions and creams will help. They haven't so far and things have gotten MUCH WORSE. He is scarred for life over his entire body and the rashes started showing up on his face a few months ago. I was terrified that his face would start looking like other areas of his body so I have been working hard to keep his face clear with the prescription and OTC ointments and creams, but it was starting to seem like a losing battle. Hopefully this new doctor can turn things around.

I have the same kind of problem with my skin. All they ever diagnosed me with was keratosis pilaris, but it's more than that. It moved to my scalp about 2 years ago. I've tried lots of different lotions, but nothing helps much. I do routinely use Proactiv on my arms and it keeps it semi under control, but certainly not clear and the scars will always be there. I was actually just doing some research last night and came across something called vega allergy testing. It tests for things you're not allergic to but sensitive to, and people who have cut those foods from their diet have had their skin problems resolved. I haven't gotten as far as looking for some place that does it. It sounds like an alternative kind of treatment, so I was thinking maybe some chiropractor's office or other natural healing sort of facility. I'm going to see if I can find somewhere to get it done and give it a try. It certainly can't hurt!

Yum.. I had the best dinner tonight. A turkey, hummus, spinach, and cucumber sandwich on multigrain sandwich rounds with broccoli on the side. Delish! I also had a "few" sips of the smoothie I made for DD2 with fat free yogurt, unsweetened frozen fruit, and a splash of orange juice. I love it when a healthy meal is sooo satisfying and yummy, it lets me know that my taste buds are changing. :lovestruc

Oh my...I am so far behind. It has been hard to come back to reality after such a crazy trip to Disney. :upsidedow I am exhausted from the trip and then working today...so I am sure that this post will be a bit random! :rotfl:

Realization of the Day: I put on my size 14 pants this morning and realized that I just can't wear them any longer. They are huge on me. Found an old pair of size 12 in the back of my closet...even with my belt on, I can put them on and pull them off without un-doing the belt or unbuttoning the pants. Guess I need a new belt and new pants.

Challenge of the Day: Being as tired as I was AND as great as I am at giving excuses for things...I talked myself out of exercising. :sad2: I know that I should not have skipped it totally but I did not even get home until 8:00 PM tonight. I could have done something quick and easy at that point but didn't. It was not a running day for me and those seem to be the hardest for me in terms of exercise. I haven't really found something else that I enjoy doing on a regular basis and so the whole cross training for me is always a challenge. Tomorrow is a new day and I am scheduled to run so it will happen.

I can't wait to check out the TR! I love to live vicariously through others... plus I want to see how you managed to lose weight while at Disney!

HUGE congratulations!! I'll say a prayer for your continued good health and for the baby.

QOTD Tuesday: What reality show, besides BL, would you like to participate in and why?

Well....for years my answer would have been Survivor. I am a HUGE fan and have watched every episode from the beginning. That said, as I get older and more sensitive to the cold, I think I would be MISERABLE if I had to spend a night (or longer) cold and wet. So I have definitely been rethinking my dream to be on Survivor. Now I would probably say Amazing Race. We have watched the last few seasons together as a family and we always talk about who would do what challenge and such. DS and I joke about the high challenges because we are BOTH afraid of heights. DH would definitely need to get in shape to do it, as would DS (he is slim, but too sedentary). DD is in great shape and I am holding my own, so I think we would do okay (but I cannot imagine running around with a huge backpack on all the time!!).

I think I would be a candidate for What Not To Wear, but I'd be sad when they threw away all my Disney t-shirts! Actually, there was a Dis-er who was on that show a few years ago. She posted about it on the Community Board... and they DID make her throw away all her Disney clothes!!

Gotta run and finish watching BL!..............P

Can I tell you much I really HATE Melissa! OMG! WHAT A WITCH! I want to mute the tv every time she is on the screen!

Just finished mile 7 for the day! 5 miles of WATP and 2 miles on the elliptical! Feeling so good to be working out again! I also really want to keep my 45 pound clippie! I may stay mostly on plan this weekend and keep up with the exercise so I can get my 50 pound clippie!

I had someone tell me that I'm wasting away to nothing! Really I'm not! But it's nice to hear when people notice!

I need to go buy some new capris and shorts for the summer! It's going to be 85 here tomorrow! I may run up to Kohls if I have time tomorrow!

QOTD: Wednesday: I'm going to back to fun questions! What is you favorite game? It can be a video game, board game, card game, etc!

It's hard to pick just one but we have been playing lots of games lately. I guess the one we like the most in our house because everyone can play it is Disney Sorry! DD2 picks that a lot! We also recently got Sorry Sliders which we've had a lot of fun with! We play games a few nights a week when our schedules allow! For our video game favorite I think our favorite is Lego Indiana Jones. We can't wait for the Harry Potter Lego Years 1-4 to come out in June!

SO excited that my Kingdom Keepers 3 book arrived today! We're going to try the online game as a family on Friday night! It looks interesting!

Loving the show tonight!!!!!! Well, except for the lady in RED! UGH!!!!!!

Evening Everyone!

Oh boy...I am here to make a confession...

Skipped my run - It is raining hard here and it is cold. Yep, could get on the TM but I just don't even want to. Did some other exercising tonight and am skipping the run. BAD! I have checked the weather and have scheduled a run for Wednesday AND Thursday to make up for it. My long run on Saturday is going to be mighty hard if I don't get back out there and hit the pavement again.

I am eating M&Ms right out of a full bowl and not counting them! I have this major case of PMS going on...feel crappy, am moody, craving EVERYTHING! I have decided that I will eat how many ever I want and then just put M&Ms in my food journal and not even think about the points. The good thing is now that I have been dieting, I crave them but don't eat nearly as many as I normally would. I weighed in this morning and then this afternoon at WW and am down one more pound again today so I am not going to let this get to me. My thought tonight is that I obviously just need a night where I let this go and I will move on to a better day tomorrow. I would be more stressed about it if I knew that I was really going overboard.

I am now going to stop typing...move the M&M bowl...fill my water cup...and try to relax a bit tonight.

Later!
Jen

I was there last week, Jen! I feel your pain! Enjoy the M&MS!

But I like how you are trying to refocus! I think I'll fill my cup too!

Hi all, I had a tough weekend food wise. Weighed in at my ww meeting today and was up 2 1/2 lbs. But I am back on track this week and I did have one great thing happen this week....I jogged for 30 minutes non stop! OUt of 60 minutes I jogged 45. I am pleased with that and will be starting to train for my 5k soon.

Have a great week all,
Sarah May

QOTD: Wednesday: I'm going to back to fun questions! What is you favorite game? It can be a video game, board game, card game, etc!

Great question! We play a lot of games as a family and over the last 3 years have expanded our collection to over 100 games :scared1: Definitely can't narrow it down to one favourite. Sorry Sliders is a great family game :cool1: I am really enjoy Carcasonne, Dice Town, Space Cows, SmallWorld, If Wishes were Fishes, Aquaretto, plus the classics Scrabble & Crib

Now to get back to finishing up the results post!

Congrats SarahMay on your improved running :goodvibes

JenA - enjoy your M&M's! I'm sure you'll feel freshly motivated tomorrow :goodvibes

Biggest Loser 9 Spring Challenge Week 13!
total group loss =32.2 pounds!
Average percentage of weight lost 0.33 %
:cool1:
Total group weight loss so far 1158.0 pounds!
Let’s see when we will hit 1250 pounds!

Retention Rate (compared to the 135 weighins for our start weigh-in on Jan 1st)
(46+3+1)/135 = 37% :goodvibes (this includes the Losers and Maintainer and Excused people!)

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet. (btw if its been more than 1 week between weigh-ins, then the % loss is divided by the number of weeks, to keep everybody on the same basis)

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week 13? This time I’ve done a TOP 10 LIST! That criteria will change from week to week. Hey I'm in charge here and I get paid nothin' to do this so you better take what you can get!;);):rotfl: (and if there’s something you want to know, just ask me!)

NOW FOR THOSE OF US WHO SET A GOAL FOR THE CHALLENGE!

How this works: you set your goal for what to lose in the challenge. Then I calculate your weight loss in the challenge divided by your goal to get a % to goal.
Anybody can change their goal at anytime (or add a goal) – all you have to do is send me a PM.
Since the goals are an individual thing, the list is just in alphabetical order to make it easier for everybody to find their own name. If there are any questions or suggestions please let me know. This is something new for BL9 :goodvibes

We have done 13 out of 20 weeks, so the challenge is 65% complete.

Congrats Heather and all the other losers!!!!!

I hope to be back on the list or at least on the losers end this week. I will be a loser unless I go crazy today and eat everything in sight today! Just finished the 3 mile WATP with 3 lb dumbbells! I plan on doing the 3 mile Slim and Sleek after getting DD1 on the bus!

Gotta run some errands today. Gotta get DD2 new shin guards as the ones I have are actually too big for her. Also need to get b'day presents for co-workers twins b'day on Saturday. I also hope to head to Kohl's to get some new Capris and new shorts as I only have one pair of Capris that I'm not swimming in!!!!!

Steak cheese and onion sliders for supper. It'll take place in shifts due to DDs after school activities today.

Finally sleeping well! Didn't want to get up but wanting to keep my 45 pound clippie got me moving. It was really hard doing the 3 miles but I'm proud to say I didn't give up!

Have a great day everyone!

A big congratulations to all of our superstars -- its nice to see some new names up there -- and a BIG congratulations to our BL, heather.mohler! Great job everyone. And the rest of us deserve a pat on the back for sticking it out week and week and working toward our goals! :thumbsup2 Looks like our 1,250 group goal will be knocked down soon -- then we will be wondering if we can make it to 1,500 before the end of the challenge?!? Can we do it???

QOTD: I think I would like to give Survivor a try. I don't know if I could make it the whole way thru but I would give it my best. I think it would show me how strong as a person I really am both mentally and physically. It would give me the opportunity to really dig deep and learn more about myself. Also eating only rice, water and a few bugs along the way would force me to lose those last few pounds.

Well, I suppose you could try the bug and rice regimen at home . . . nah! :rotfl: I do agree that many of those shows do let you dig deep to find out what you can and can't do.

Great job on the size adjustment, Susan. And if those are the vintage clothes that you like they may even be smaller in today's sizing! :thumbsup2

Hi everyone. Just wanted to let all my BL peeps know I didnt just quit. We are exspecting a baby and I had to stop the challange. Thanks everyone for you support. Loosing 25lbs prior to this was a great thing for me and the baby to be!! Good luck everyone.:goodvibes

A big congratulations to you! :flower3: Hope that you will stop in sometimes to say hello and let us know how you are doing.

It's nice when people notice your efforts even though they say weird things to you. :flower3: Enjoy those new shorts and capris. There are a lot of good sales going on now.

We play a lot of games, too. Board, Wii, Nintendo DS, Playstation. We love them all. Right now there is a lot of chess, cribbage and Pokemon being played thanks to the new games that came out . Thanks for telling us about Kingdom Keepers 3 -- will have to check that out!

Jen, everyone is entitled to a break once in awhile. You kept OP on a long drive across country and lost 2 lbs on vacation. A one day break will not be a big problem but do get back OP as soon as you can! :goodvibes

QOTD: Wednesday: I'm going to back to fun questions! What is you favorite game? It can be a video game, board game, card game, etc!

DS especially loves to play board games. When we have gone away for Mother/Son weekend in the past we played things like Life and Battleship ENDLESSLY! Together as a family we tend to play more card games. We have several Disney games that we play when we are craving a bit of "magic" in our daily lives, but since I usually win, no one wants to play with me anymore!! I loved playing Disney Scene it, Disney Music (not sure what the real name is), and such. I'm not fond of electronic games like the Wii, but will indulge DS once in a while and play for a bit. I did have fun with the Wii Toy Story Mania last week... but I'm terrible at it! We also have a fun Amazing Race DVD game that DS picked up at the Goodwill last year.

I would say that my current favorite is either Disney Scene It or a card game called "nines".

Morning all! Happy to see myself in second place this week! Hope I can hold onto that weight. After Easter dinner I am fearing a gain, but hopefully not.

DS is off to camp with school for the next 3 days, so things will be a bit quieter around here. He was leary of going, but I kind of insisted and hopefully he will have a GREAT time. DD went when she was in 7th grade and really enjoyed herself (of course, she is a bit of an adventure hound). Hopefully he will get past any concerns he is having (bullies, homesickness, whatever) and just enjoy himself!

I had my circuit class again last night and two of the ladies in the class said that they talk about me a lot.... since I don't know them outside of the class I was a bit baffled, but since they know I have lost a pretty decent amount of weight, they were talking about that. They told me I was "tiny"!! I am shocked and flattered at the same time.

I realize that I am having some issues with "Phantom fat" (a term I picked up from an article that Corrinak put up a link to). I KNOW that I am smaller than I have EVER been in my entire adult life, but I still feel the need to pull on oversized t-shirts with my yoga pants when I hit the gym to hide the belly that really doesn't exist any more. When I swam laps the other night I was concerned about my (very modest) wet swimsuit clinging to my 'fat hips and belly" when I got out of the pool..... but I know in reality that my hips and belly aren't really a problem. I just keep battling this image that I had for so many years... I guess I am seeing that phantom fat. It is kind of easy for me to realize now how people can become anorexic and truly NOT see themselves the way they really are.

And of course, as I am creeping closer to my goal (which is 5 lbs. lower than my original goal), I keep thinking that maybe I will drop my goal just a few MORE pounds... to put me in the 120's... a number I have truly NEVER EVER EVER seen on the scale in my entire life. But when/where will it stop? I need to keep my goal at 130 and work on toning up more, rather than slimming down more.

Well... sorry I can't stay and chat longer. Gotta run!.............P

Congrats to all the losers this week--and to the rest of us that are still here! Way to go!!!

QOTD: Wednesday: I'm going to back to fun questions! What is you favorite game? It can be a video game, board game, card game, etc!

I would have to say my favorite is Boggle--My grandma taught me to play it when I was young and I have loved it ever since. I love that now I can play online against others--it's fun - especially when I play against 10-15 others and get the high score of 3 rounds--I love word games.

Another that I've only played once that I really enjoyed is the Harry Potter version of Clue--it's so fun because just like the moving stairs and 'room of requirement' in the series - doors here can 'move', leaving you unable to leave a room til that changes--it's a fun mix. Highly recommend :)

Have a great day!! Keep up the hard work as the week winds down :)
