Biggest Loser 9 Spring challenge -- Part 2! HERE WE ARE! :)

QOTD Tuesday: What reality show, besides BL, would you like to participate in and why?

I want to be on "What Not to Wear"! I want a new wardrobe, and Stacey and Clinton to guide me to things that look good on me now! I would love a shopping trip to NY! I don't even mind giving up my current wardrobe -- I don't think it's really that bad, but I know there are some items that should just go. I try to get rid of one item for every item I bring in, and that helps a lot. I'm also trying to spend more on items that are or should be investments (shoes/undergarments), since I will wear those for awhile. As I get smaller, I plan to buy higher quality everything, since once I get to my goal I'm not getting bigger again! :woohoo:

While I love to watch reality I don't think I'd want to be on a show...until I saw Maria's answer! I'll do that one. :goodvibes

Jen, will definitely check out your trip report! Hooray on the pants being too big - woo hoo!!

Yesterday I had too much planned and ended up not cleaning, doing taxes, or exercising. Alice in Wonderland was great though!!

I am feeling a definite change in my attitude after being sick for a week...already less active and the "lazies" have set in. Today I have to do what I didn't do yesterday. I was planning to work until 12:30 then get out for c25k but already my cousin has emailed and wants to plan our dining for our Oct WDW trip...she's in Scotland so how can I really say no? :rotfl: And we're skyping so I'll have to shower and put on makeup :scared1: So, my point is...my schedule's off already.

QOTD Tuesday: What reality show, besides BL, would you like to participate in and why?
I would love to be on Dancind with the Stars. Years ago, before I had Michael, I used to country dance, some line dancing, but mostly two-step, and swing, and I loved it and had so much fun. I don't watch dancing with the stars every week, but when I do, it brings me back, and I loved being twirled around the dance floor. I went to a local country bar at the time, and it was the same core group of people there and everyone danced with everyone else, and it was so much fun. If there wasn't enough men to two step or swing with, we would do the line dances. Not to mention, I was much thinner then, because of all that exercise.
Thanks for the trip in my mind down memory lane. You've had some great questions this week, Tracey.

I started journalling my food yesterday, and though I did go over my daily points, I was better than if I wasn't tracking. I had gotten back into the bad habit at work of having a pack or two of lorna doones in the afternoon. Today I'm working recovery, where we serve those dang cookies and muffins all day, but I'm going to pack an afternoon snack, and stay out of the doones. They are a trigger food for me, and I just can't have one.

Have a nice day everyone.:)

I am the same way with non running days. I will run, regardless. I make time. Other days, it's a struggle. In fact, I am sitting here with 5 pound weights doing arm stuff while I browse the Dis with my coffee. I hope to get in a few minutes of yoga and an ab video, but I only have 30 more minutes until I need to be in the shower. Maybe later.

I love the idea of doing the weights in the morning while I am browsing! I was getting pretty good at using the weights but have even stopped those. I need to get back on track and might need to do part of it in the AM and then part of it in the PM. I think I look at it as it all needs to be done at once and then just don't do it.

Love this idea Maria! That would be a great reality show for all of us...I love the idea of a new wardrobe (especially a free one)!

I also think it is great that you are buying higher quality stuff now. As I get closer to my goal, I should do the same thing.

Glad to hear that you are feeling better. As you get going again, you will get out of those "lazies"! I know that after this vacation I am having a hard time getting back on track. Today I put my running on my daily schedule for a time I know it is not going to get messed with and I am going to stick to it at all costs. I think you should just push your C25K time back a bit to later in the day. Have fun planning with your cousin!

All the QOTD's I missed...

QOTD Wednesday: Today's question was inspired by the Going Skiing blog, which talks about our "inner toddlers." You know the part of yourself that doesn't want to go to the gym, tantrums for candy, etc. What unhealthy things does your inner toddler want to do? How can you parent your inner toddler to choose healthy foods and exercise?

I have my inner toddler under control, I think. I really think I have conditioned my brain to believe that eating healthy is the way to go and that exercise is important. Now if I could get my real toddler (DD-3) controlled, I would be happy! She is a busy little booger!

Thursday QOTD: People who are more active just in their daily lives can burn hundreds of more calories than their sedentary counterparts. What can you do to increase your non-exercise activity

I park as far away from the gym and grocery store as I can. I also take the kids on a nightly-after-dinner-walk. It isn't far (3/4 of a mile) and it isn't fast but it is more than I used to do.

QOTD FRIDAY APRIL 2: With Easter and Passover upon us, what is your favorite holiday treat? This treat can be from any holiday not just Easter and Passover!

Hmmmm.... favorite Holiday treat?? My moms Christmas cookies. They are an old, old family recipe and they are delicious.

Saturday April 3- QOTD: Tell us about your first trip to Disney (WDW or DL or any other Disney parks). How did you find out about the trip, how did you feel at first glance of the castle or park icon, anything you want to share! If you haven't yet experienced Disney when are you hoping to go and what are you hoping to do while there.

My first Disney trip was just after it opened in 1971. I was 3.5 years old so I don't remember much. My earliest memories are of the paper tickets and eating an ice cream cone with my uncle. I also remember being afraid of the Peter Pan ride. LOL

Easter Sunday QOTD:What is the first thing that you do at each park when you arrive? (I'm really getting excited about my trip now!!!!!)

MK - take a picture in front of the castle.

HS - take a picture so it looks like the kids are wearing The Sorcerer's Hat.

Epcot - take a picture so it looks like the kids are holding up Spaceship Earth.

(we're so dorky)...

AK - never been... no plans on going.

With all that picture taking you must have a lot of scrapbooks! ;)

Girl being in "average" shape is great compared to how you were at Thanksgiving! And honestly how many people are in "average" shape? :confused3 I would guess it's not the average person - more like 40% or less. And how great to be told you have the legs of a runner! Glad you came to your senses and remembered your dh!

For those who remember me mentioning DS's food allergies and skin rashes, we had an appointment with a pediatric dermatologist this morning at CHAD (Children's Hospital at Dartmouth) at 7 am (left the house at 5am :scared1:). He is really giving me faith that someone might FINALLY be able to help DS with these rashes. He took a punch biopsy, a few scrappings, and a few swabs to start diagnosing this mess. He thinks he may have a viral infection as well as a bacterial infection, along with the eczema. He gave me THREE prescriptions. He will be calling by Wed. to give us the results of the lab work and if it is what he thinks, I will be filling the Rx that day and starting DS on the meds. I am just PRAYING that this is the start of a full recovery for DS's skin issues. They have gone on since he was TWO YEARS OLD and I am just sick of doctors telling me it is "just dry skin" and it is normal and that skin lotions and creams will help. They haven't so far and things have gotten MUCH WORSE. He is scarred for life over his entire body and the rashes started showing up on his face a few months ago. I was terrified that his face would start looking like other areas of his body so I have been working hard to keep his face clear with the prescription and OTC ointments and creams, but it was starting to seem like a losing battle. Hopefully this new doctor can turn things around.

That is great news!! Poor guy...

Hi everyone!
We went to SC last Thursday to visit DS at college. We actually picked him up on Friday and went to Hilton Head for a couple of days. I was up a little bit last week, and I'm up little from the trip--1.4 total from my low weigh in two weeks ago. I've caught up on reading everyone's replies.

Qof the Day--can't remember which one, but the one about what did you do different for Easter. I only had two pieces of Easter candy. I filled a small basket for ds and he took it with him to the beach, but didn't buy any for me and Mike. I didn't have any dessert this weekend--one ice cream cone which ended up being lunch, and we did have trail mix with m&ms, but that was it. Overall, I think I did really good with the food, so I'm pretty happy. Visiting our DS is great, but can be a little stressful. No meltdowns, and no food binges, so that was great.

I'm off to get ready for the Y, and then tomorrow it's back to work. My week starts Wednesday.

Have a great day everyone!

QOTD Tuesday: What reality show, besides BL, would you like to participate in and why?

Oooh, Maria, I like youre idea. Just to say something different, I'll pick

How to Look Good Naked

Because whatever size I am, I feel like I have a distorted idea of what it actually is and what the good things are and how to highlight those.

Of course the other one would be Clean Sweep, but I think that might be more embarrassing than a "nude" photo shoot.

I did swim some laps tho... but it was tricky because I had DS-5 on my back the entire time.

Glad you had fun on your mini-break, Ann. I'm sure you burned some extra calories with your kid on your back! :lmao:

I'm glad that you found a new doctor who is going to help your DS. :thumbsup2 It is hard enough to be a teenager without this other stuff going on!

Hope everybody is having a good Monday! I made up my lunch last night, but I'll be saving it in the fridge for tomorrow and will go meet DH and the girls for lunch at Subway today. Easter Monday is a work/school holiday for them, so its a special treat to meet for lunch, and I can work Subway into my points for the day (now I sound like a Biggest Loser episode!:rotfl:)

But did you do double veggies and have them pull part of the bread out? ;)

I may go crazy and have pineapple, too. Still way fewer calories than the cookies...maybe one cookie? I have to stop bargaining with myself. It never ends well for my goals :scared1:

Maria :upsidedow

Good job on making the right choice to help you reach your goals! :cool1:

QOTD Tuesday: What reality show, besides BL, would you like to participate in and why?

Hmmm, I don't watch adult tv, except for BL. I really wouldn't want to be on BL, not to mention that I am happy to say I no longer qualify since I have less than 100 lbs to lose. :goodvibes I like Maria's idea of a clothes makeover but in the interests of adding something new to the conversation I will say "Fetch." It's a PBS show where they send kids on all sorts of fun (and educational ;)) adventures. Last week they went to WDW, worked with Imagineers to design and roller coaster and tested it out on guests at DisneyQuest.

Have a great day all! Keep up the good work!

QOTD Tuesday: What reality show, besides BL, would you like to participate in and why?

I am a reality tv addict. I rarely watch anything but reality tv. So sad.

I would love to do Amazing Race but I am terrible with directions so we wouldn't make it very far (I got lost coming home from the gym yesterday... the same gym I have been going to for 3 weeks which is located in the town I have lived in for 36 years. I am such a dork!). For years and years I have been saying that my ex-hubby and my now-hubby should do Amazing Race together. Both love to travel, both will eat anything and if you dumped either one of them in a city they have never been in, they will find their way out. I should sign them up and see what happens.

I think I would be best suited for Big Brother. I could spend the day working out and laying in the sun. :)

QOTD Tuesday: What reality show, besides BL, would you like to participate in and why?

I want to be on the Amazing Race because DH and I could so beat every team we've seen on there. We always laugh at all the bickering and how poorly people work together and the stupid things that they wimp out of. My favorite was the girl with blow up floaties that wouldn't go down a waterslide :confused3 How do they find these people?

QOTD: I think I would like to give Survivor a try. I don't know if I could make it the whole way thru but I would give it my best. I think it would show me how strong as a person I really am both mentally and physically. It would give me the opportunity to really dig deep and learn more about myself. Also eating only rice, water and a few bugs along the way would force me to lose those last few pounds.

:lmao: I have been saying this for years! That being on Survivor would be a great weight loss plan. I don't even need any money. Now that I'm a vegetarian though, I couldn't even eat the bugs!

QOTD Tuesday: What reality show, besides BL, would you like to participate in and why?

Hmmm--I would love to do Amazing Race - but not sure who I would do it with. I also love the 'What Not to Wear'--I am soooooo a good candidate for that show. I think I would also enjoy Survivor--I love being prepared and doing the outdoor survival stuff so that would be a good fit too... but personality wise I just don't think I could be on TV in front of that many people knowing that the editors take the one 10 minute bad part of your day and make it look like that's all you're about--that would frustrate me a lot.

I was just reading on sparkpeople - and they had a blog highlighted today that talks about one of the things we were discussing last week--how much exercise is enough now and once you're at goal... hope you enjoy reading this:

Have a great day!!

Hi! On my Moms laptop right now in Palm Springs. Went to a thrift shop yesterday and found out I am a size 10 now! I didn't have any summer pants/shorts now that I lost weight so was looking for some. Had noticed some of my 12's were loose but finally yesterday got brave and tried on 10's after 12's were still too loose--couldn't believe it. I've just been maintaining. What I'm wondering is maybe my skin is just settled and weight kind of redistributed...Anyways great motivation to stay on track the rest of this trip as my parents always want me to eat lol. Have to get off 'cause my Mom's a junkie to this game....Have a great week!

QOTD Tuesday: What reality show, besides BL, would you like to participate in and why?

I would do What Not to Wear, but the hair part would make me nervous, since I'm a low-maintenance girl, so hair that I have to style would not work for me, but I'd like to hear what they had to say. I'd really like to do the clothes and makeup. My wardrobe is not a complete disaster (it used to be :rolleyes1) but it has room for improvement and I could use $5000 worth of clothes and a trip to New York. :cool1: I know I could use help learning how to do makeup better; right now I really don't do much for makeup (actually usually none on work days).

I would not want to do Amazing Race, as its just too quick to actually see anything. And I'm a huge wimp when it comes to snakes, so I'd end up getting stuck with some hideous challenge and probably pee myself. DH & I would do fine on the directions and getting places.

I would like Clean Sweep, except the part where they do the challenge for the garage sale and whoever sells the least loses their special item. DH & I always thought that part was stupid especially when they'd pick something that was really special to one person and the partner agreed it was special.

I would not want to do Trading Spaces. I like the idea, but too much of what they do is rushed and not done well.

50sjayne - congrats on seeing the body shape changes!
