That you to everyone who offered hugs and support over my friend's tragedy. The memorial service was last Saturday, and I spent the better part of the week completely off the wagon diet-wise. My friend has two more weeks of maternity leave left, so we've been getting together for lunches and so her DD can play with my youngest, so its been a lot of eating out and not always making the best choices.
I have been trying to walk, as much for quiet/meditation as for exercise, but it has been COLD here. Like 2+ weeks of below normal temps and lows below freezing cold. And I hate the cold, though I don't know that alone would stop me; its the need to take DD1 out with me or wait until after dark when DH is home that stops me some days.
I think DH finally got tired of hearing me complain about the cold, because he came home from work yesterday with the Wii and Wii Fit Plus, with the statement that the older kids will understand getting one of their Christmas gifts early.

So now I have a new toy to keep me on track with my exercise goals!
QUOTD:
If you could spend a day with any celebrity--who would it be? Like say you won a contest for a charity or something like that?
Johnny Depp. He's hot and he's interesting... What more could a woman want?
Disney wants us to volunteer. QUOTD Saturday:
Have you volunteered in the past? If so what sort of volunteer work?
I really haven't hit my volunteering stride yet since we moved. Before the move, I was involved in a community garden in addition to my home gardens, and much of the produce was donated to the local food pantry. DH is a contractor so his charity of choice is Habitat for Humanity; we donate some of our time every summer. And of course there's the usual parent stuff - school, scouts, sports. etc. Since we moved, Habitat is the only thing I've kept up with. Oh, and I'm making doll clothes for the Goodfellows of Detroit's "No child without a Christmas" campaign; my mom and I have done that every year for as long as I can remember, and with her still working full time and coordinating the donations for her entire office now, the sewing has fallen mostly to me.
I don't work at the animal shelter any more, though I do still donate blankets and pet supplies when I'm up that way. I just couldn't take it any more, it was too sad and getting sadder. With the foreclosure rate in our area, we were seeing a lot of beloved family pets surrendered, and I just couldn't handle that without wanting to take them all in. And I've gotten away from the work I used to do with teen moms in my old community, though that was as much social as volunteering, kind of a playgroup arrangement for young women who tend to be reluctant to join conventional playgroups, Gymboree, baby's day out type things. One of the first young women I met, 10 years ago when the idea was brand new and I was a 20yo mom of a toddler myself, is organizing things now.
Sundays quotd:
What was the last thing you ate?
A cup of Dannon light & fit strawberry yogurt topped with granola.
QUOTD: What cd is in your car right now?
No CD player, so no CDs. Just my MP3 player hookup, with everything from Taylor Swift to Kid Rock to Nine Inch Nails, and in honor of Halloween, the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack.
Quotd Tuesday:
What is one of your most embarrasing moments relating to being overweight?
I really don't have any. I hate looking at pictures of myself, but that's about it.
QUOTD Wednesday:
What movie makes you laugh? I mean really laugh--rotfl.
Pretty much anything Mel Brooks, especially Blazing Saddles. The Producers. Money Python and the Holy Grail. Airplane.
Speaking of vitamins....
QUOTD:
What are your favorite vitamins, herbs, methods of healing? There's lot's of different sicknesses and people deal with healing in many different ways.
I pretty much just let nature take its course. We take multivitamins and there's nothing like hot tea for a cold/sore throat, but that's about it, and no one in my family gets sick often.
