Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

QOTD:

My Amazon wish list grows everyday! It's a list for all of us in the family. When we see or hear about something we add it so we're not going crazy trying to remember what we want. Not sure what my number one item is. Probably the step riser for the Wii Fit. We have mostly Wii or PS3 games listed and some DVDs. DD1 wants a DSI. DH may be going out in the middle of the night after Thanksgiving if anyone is having an incredible deal on them. DD2 is probably going to get her own mini DVD player. We mainly give each other games, movies or music. I have quite a few movies that will be coming out soon on our list.

Did the 30 Day Shred this morning and then had to go and give a massage. Ate a steak and onion sub, homemade, for lunch. I will do the 2 or 3 mile WATP later and probably some Wii Fit too. Going to try and eat lite for supper and hope that I work off lunch!

Well.....
I'd really love a Disney trip like I got last year:wizard:

Otherwise, I don't really know. I finally got my dream farm, with all my critters around me, I just love being here.

My farm is the only thing I have ever wished for, even as a child, I still walk outside and can't believe that I am really here, it's such a wish come true I think "how did this happen?" I am waiting to wake up:cloud9:
We talked about going to Disney next Feb (book4 get 3 more!!! and the CDN$ !) but really, I would be worried about the animals, I think, the whole time we're away.

I stayed the same this week.

Saturday QOTD: What's the #1 item on your holiday wish list?

I think it is the Kindle. THere may be more than one under the tree. I am a big reader and the amount of books that I have accumulated is getting to be too much. I don't like going to the library because they are never open on Sunday when I need a new book. This is the one way I can help with the clutter around the house. My two sons are also big readers. My older one had a buy a 6 foot tall shelf just to hold his books. The boys are also going to get Toy Story Mania. I have two great sons who love crazy video games. They do have Halo but they have loved playing Lego Star Wars, Batman and Indiana Jones. These are the ones that I see them playing the most. SO I know they will love TSM.

Just had a NSV!!!

I haven't gone running outside for a good week or so (sort of doing Cto5K), and today is gorgeous (snow melted!), so I thought I'd head out... I went to put on my iPod arm band, and it is the first time I was actually able to wear it on my upper arm where it is supposed to be! I was so excited when I slid it on and it just kept on going! Woohoo!:woohoo:

Saturday QOTD: What's the #1 item on your holiday wish list?

Well - I think I'm gonna buy myself an iPod Touch -- I've been saving my $$ and will probably get this before Christmas as an early present to myself. DH has one and I'm having iPod envy -- mine is several years old and is quite a clunker in comparison. For Christmas from my DH, I have asked for a Kindle. I'm an avid reader and with our upcoming trip to the Mediterranean in April - a Kindle would be so much easier to pack than several books. I like my tech toys. :thumbsup2

Was only down .2 lbs this week. But, after the week I had, it's somewhat surprising that I went down at all. And starting this week off in non-loss fashion - we had pizza tonight and now we're off to a neighbor's house to have drinks and snacks. Ah well - I'll just have to do 5 miles on the WATP tomorrow and the next day and the next day after that ...

Sat QOTD: What is the # 1 item on your holiday wish list?

Um, I don't have one yet... I usually start to think about me after I've taken care of everyone else. Since DH rarely shops before Christmas Eve, I have plenty of time. If I had to list something today, I'd say a new gold watch. Mine is kind of old-fashioned, and I'd like something more modern.

I'm hoping to need a new winter coat because my old one will just hang on me, but I think that might be another holiday down the road from 2009...

Maria :upsidedow

Did some Christmas shopping for DDs tonight. Just clothes from Children's Place.

Planned on working out tonight but had to work this afternoon. I came home, had lunch and then fell asleep with DD2 beside me. I love those snuggly times. But unfortunately I woke up with a bad sore throat. Didn't eat too much today so hopefully I won't gain any weight. Going to lay low tomorrow and maybe just do the Wii Fit at some point.

Now it's time for my nice hot cup of tea. Hopefully it will help the throat. I've already called in sick for teaching Sunday school tomorrow. My nephew in NC has the H1N1. He's 17. His fever keeps going up and down. He was feeling better but then the temp went up again. Hoping he feels better tomorrow.

I want a lot of things. I want more carts for my cricut. I want a garmin for when I run outside. I have a polar heart rate monitor but it doesn't have miles or anything on it. I want a wii so I can get wii fit and wii fit plus. I'd like a new ipod.

Saturday QOTD: What's the #1 item on your holiday wish list?

It's a little early....but I'm really glad you brought this up! I just asked DH and he's also similarly baffled, but maybe by December, we'll have answers....

Seriously, though, the top of my wishlist is a small waterproof, shockproof camera with image stabilization to take with me on races. So many of my race pictures end up in a smear. :sad2:

Additionally, I just realized tonight that I am in deep need of cold weather dress-up clothes. A dress I bought in 1996 fits - huge shoulder pads and pearly buttons and all. But my 11 year old laughed at it, so I ended up wearing my ONE outfit. Again. Not the sort of thing I'll find under the tree, I'm afraid, and really.....I can't wait until Christmas. I also like the idea of a dress coat in the right size.

Happy Saturday all.....I just had an NSV I HAD to share!!

I met up with my old childhood friend tonight (she found me on Facebook). This is "one of those" friends who you adore, but ALWAYS got all the attention. Don't get me wrong, I love his girl to death, but got SO SICK of being the "2nd choice" when it came to guys showing interest. She ALWAYS had a slim body and long blonde hair (you know the nightmare :lmao:).

Well we met tonight and get this..I'm AT LEAST 25-35lbs SMALLER than her!!! I came home, looked at mysef in the mirror and just grinned ear to ear! It only took 20 years, but I did it! Thanks for listening!!

QOTD
The only thing I want for Christmas I already have...my DVC @ BLT & GCV!
I know it sounds SO Hokey, but I told my husband YEARS ago that having DVC is the last gift I would ever ask for, and it truly is. I am blessed beyond belief!:cloud9:

Gained this week. It was a really difficult one. Ate everything in sight and once I got back on the wagon found out my dh had racked up 11,400 in debt that I knew nothing about. :scared1: Can you say stress?

Sarah

Money (and the lack of it) is the cause of so many woes and so much stress. I hope you can work the situation out and talk through it with DH without eating into it. Remember, if you eat into it, the debt will still be there after the good taste of the food is gone... and then you will have even more to worry about... the debt AND your weight! Staying "on the wagon" will help your stress level and help you deal with this situation even better.

Hope everyone had a good weigh in. I had a loss of 2.4 pounds. I thought I was on track to lose a small amount this week, but was happily surprised to see that result on the scale this morning. I've got to give some credit to the COW - I actually did exercise all 7 days and ate all my fruits and veggies 6 days.

WTG on the 2.4 pounds!! Wahoo!!:woohoo::woohoo:

Lost .8 this week. Worked my butt off but c'est la vie! A loss is better than a gain. One thing that messes me up each week is the weekends as I always gained back more than I lost the previous week though I don't over do it with eating. I don't exercise as much but still do some. I only allow myself one drink with alcohol a week and I usually have that on Friday or Saturday. This week is PMS time so that's probably why I didn't lose as much as I have been each week though I did end up with a loss.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!
PMS can really make the scale do funny things! And remember, .8 is ALMOST a full pound... go pick up a pound of butter and remember you lost most of that this week.... it is no longer stuck to your (insert least favorite body part here)! And don't forget... if you are working out more, you are building MUSCLE!!

A big thank you to 50sjayne for being the coach this past week!

I will be your coach for the next week. I've never done this before, so bear with me!

Congratulations to all the losers and maintainers this week! For those who gained, just get right back on program and dedicate this week to turning things around!

I haven't weighed in yet, but since I've been sick and mostly eating for comfort instead of journaling, I don't expect it to be pretty!

QOTD Friday:
What type of weight loss program are you following, and how is that particular program helping you reach your goals?

I'm doing Weight Watchers. I started in May (for the 4th time). ;) I chose WW because I've had success losing weight on the program in the past. I did regain, but that was my fault for quitting the program. I know if I stay on it for life, I will continue to lose until I reach my goal and will be able to maintain after that. I like the personal support that comes with the meetings, and I like the flexibility to be able to eat whatever I want as long as I count the points for it and stay within my points allowance each day. When I've done programs that restrict certain foods, they're usually some of my favorite foods and I just can't stick with it.

Thanks for coaching this week! I look forward to your QOTD! And HOWDY-HEY to a fellow WW follower!

QOTD Friday:
What type of weight loss program are you following, and how is that particular program helping you reach your goals?

Another WW person checking in. I am not a fan of the meetings, actually. I do use the online tools to track my food and activity. I am also a fan of the Eat-Clean diet and incorporate a lot of the ideas into my life, though I do feel a need to track my food intake. Otherwise, I end up eating either too much or too little before long.

I am really enjoying the new WW online community - there are blogs and challenges and home pages. In my opinion, it is taking WW to a whole new level. Here's a link to my blog on there - there are so many different blogs, it is always easy to find something inspiring to read. You don't have to be a member to read, but you do to comment, I believe.

I consider BL to be an active part of my weight loss program as well. The weigh in is vital to me, and the QOTD keep my head in the game.

Hello to ANOTHER fellow WWer here! I have been meaning to go check out the online community, but I don't have a lot of screen time lately and the time I DO have has been spent here on the DIS. But I'll try to get over to check it out later. Thanks for the link.

The scale showed a HUGE gain for me this week. I knew I would see a gain so I deserve it, I guess.

Been a really bad week. Been down in the dumps. And kids are being difficult, not helping etc. Really hoping to snap out of it soon!!

You need a big  right now, I'm guessing. Sorry you had a crummy week. Maybe the PMS fairy is visiting?? Anyhow, I hope you can work yourself out of it. And remember.... you don't DESERVE the gain... it happened and you will MOVE ON. What you DESERVE is a strong, healthy, slim body! And you know what needs to be done to make that happen, right?? Lay down the law with your kids, make yourself a PLAN for this week (eating/meal plan, exercise plan, etc) and get started on a GREAT week! :flower3:

I'm started WW-online in the spring, and I was having success, but since summer started I've just been moving up & down in the same 5 range. It worked better for me, when I was tracking my food as I was eating it, rather than entering in the food every couple days.

I got up and weighed in this morning and was up 0.2lbs. So now, I've gained for 3 weeks in a row (for a total of 2.4pounds which isn't much, but the trend is bad). Part of the problem is that I've been eating all my points all the time including the activity points. I have been giving into my cravings in small ways, and I need to get myself re-motivated. I decided to be really bad at lunch and I went to McDonalds and had what I would always get last year, and it tasted good as I was eating it, but left me feeling sluggish, and now I'm going to start fresh. No more McD or A&W for at least 2 weeks, not even the McD thai salad that I like.:goodvibes

Sorry you have had a few bad weeks on the scale. But it sounds like you know where the problem lies and are ready to get moving in the right direction. I will say, I think you really need to WRITE IT BEFORE YOU BITE IT! There is no way my memory is good enough to ACCURATELY journal my food a few days later. I try to write it as I am preparing it... BEFORE I eat it. Try to get back to some "real time" accurate food journaling and I think it will really help. And don't forget, as a WW, you know that you CAN fit in the McD salad it you really want it... just remember to accurately count the points and journal the meal!

I am doing WW. I like it but haven't been as faithful and journaling as I should have been. Which is why I am a maintainer this week.

And another hello to a fellow WW member. Sit your journal and a fancy pen out on the kitchen counter, where you CAN'T miss it. That might help you keep up with the journaling.

Saturday QOTD: What's the #1 item on your holiday wish list?

I want one of those toothpaste dispensers. Lol. Those $20 as seen on tv ones. And I saw something cool on a show the other day, they have oil spray cans. I had no idea. You put your olive oil in this thingy and it sprays it out. You'd use it like the little spray cans of Pam. :yay:

Pampered Chef sells an oil sprayer (at least they have in the past). I did own one for a while... not sure what happened to it. It worked reasonably well. You had to pump the top to put air pressure inside and then it would just spray your oil. You might want to look into it.

I also rejoined WW this morning! :cool1: Hopfully going to the meetings will make me stick to what I need to do.

Good job with getting back to WW! Remember, if you need to "talk" between meetings, that is what we are all about here!

Maria :upsidedow

I went shopping at the LL Bean outlet recently and tried on a pretty winter coat, but I was too cheap to spend the $80 outlet price. But my winter coat was pretty much SWIMMING on me last winter... but I'm SO cheap I am going to try to get one more season out it. I guess I will be layering a fleece under it or something so it doesn't feel too big.. at least I'll be warm! And it is far better to need a winter coat for this reason than the last reason I needed a winter coat.... I broke the zipper because when I zipped the coat and sat, I was TOO WIDE for the coat and it strained the zipper and it eventually split. :scared1:

Well... after all those quotes, I will say GOOD MORNING to EVERYONE! I had my big splurge meal last night and I am feeling some guilt, but I will get in some extra exercise today and not let it get to me. I'm trying to transition into a splurge MEAL instead of a splurge DAY. For a while I would kind of splurge a full day (either Friday or Saturday)... but it was too much and I usually felt crummy the next day (sick belly and guilt) and I realized that it was harder to get back on track. So now I have been concentrating on just a splurge MEAL (either Friday night or Saturday night). Hopefully that will create less guilt (and less sick belly). Honestly though, I have found that if I DON'T have a splurge meal during the week, I don't lose as well. I know it probably sounds strange, but after doing some back tracking through my food journals, it seems like I need at least one big meal during the week to keep my weight and metabolism moving (in the right direction). Maybe because that is the only time I use my Flex points and I NEVER count activity points. Plus I think it helps keep my metabolism "guessing".

Anyhow, it is a lousy grey day here today.... not a bit of sun to be seen. It doesn't motivate me AT ALL to get moving... which is why I am still sitting here with a cup of tea at 10am! I am committing right here to do the 4 mi WATP DVD before lunch. So I had better get moving! After that it will be the usual laundry, dishes, and maybe some time at the scrapbook table!! :woohoo:

Have a great day!.......................P

I'm hoping to need a new winter coat because my old one will just hang on me, but I think that might be another holiday down the road from 2009...

I was lucky enough to find a Awesome coat at a garage sale over the summer. I felt foolish trying to cram it into my bike basket lol but I love it so much- and it was $4 :) I also have one that is warm that was always very tight on me, I got it when we were in Portland once years ago running around freezing my rear end off at a Goodwill. I always try to remember these days that it is colder up North when we go to visit. But it fits great now. A coat that's too big is like no coat at all brr.
I'm in the same boat with a previous poster- I completely blew diet last night. Went to friends and they had a sort of barbecue-- except with a fryer lol. It was so good though--no regrets ;-) We'll see if we can stay on track the rest of the week though eh?

What is a KIndle? It sounds like something to do with books?

The Kindle is an electronic book. Basically you download books to it and then read your books on there instead of carrying around the actual hard or soft cover book. The Kindle can hold, I think, up to 1500 books. It's sold through Amazon. You can also see a similar product at Borders called the Sony Reader.

Well, it's a chilly, misty, icky morning here. I'm feeling tired and have a bit of a headache. But, I'm going to pick my butt up off of this chair and go get in a minimum of 30 minutes of cardio! After pizza and drinks last night - I'm feeling blah and need to get that out of my system! I MUST post more than a .2lb weight loss this week!

HI EVERYONE!! back from the short-trip to WDW while DH had convention there. as always a fantastic time.....less the trip to Urgent Care with chemical conjuncivitis! did you know there is an urgent care on property with free shuttle service? now you do!

i was up .8 and not surprised, i'm still struggling to journal but i've got portions under more control I believe. didn't do so hot in the exercise category last week, being gone then working a day and a very busy weekend! life is good....no complaints....just gotta get re-focused and there is no place better then here ::yes::

Saturday QOTD: What's the #1 item on your holiday wish list?

I really don't have a list now... DH got me my Wii & Wii Fit early, I ordered the new lens I want for my camera, and we're going to WDW the week before Christmas. What more could I ask for?

Saturday QOTD: What's the #1 item on your holiday wish list?

I already received my holiday gift -- 8 nights at WDW including Christmas with my DH, DS, DMom and DSis. Only 60 days! :santa:

Which also finally lit a fire under me and helped motivate me to do 90 minutes of exercise before noon today -- yay me! (as London would say :goodvibes) Goal is to do 60 minutes of exercise a day until we leave. Did 2 mile WATP and more than 60 minutes of really hard housework, i.e. vacuuming, scrubbing showers, floors, etc. which worked out to be 7 activity points for you WW folks.

Have a great Sunday!

Colleen, we will be at WDW at the same time! :santa: Just saw on another thread that thelionqueen is going to be there then, too.

Took the day off from exercising due to a sore throat and slight fever. Will get back to it tomorrow. Supposed to go on a field trip with DD1 but going to take temp for last time in a few minutes to determine whether or not I should go. Have been good food wise except for Friday night.

It's SNOWING here in MA for the 2nd time this week! Got a nice coating and the flakes are HUGE! It's 31.3 degrees! Watching the Patriots playing in the snow brings back such good memories from the past!

Here's to everyone having a SUPER wek!
