Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

Shirley - I'm glad you were able to share those memories. Would your son or daughter be able to go with you & the dgkids to the mountains?

Jessi - bronchitis sucks. Feel better soon :goodvibes

And :cool1: for me, I did 45 minutes of exercising today :dance3:

tigger - it IS draining to be with your parents when you're changing the roles that you've had for a lifetime!! I hope you enjoyed your drink! :goodvibes!

thanks, Jenn! I did enjoy it! It's a raspberry white russian and I haven't had one in about a month so it really tasted yummy!

Did some more WiiFit + last night. DH liked it too. Going to workout this morning after getting oldest DD on the bus. Will get in a workout tonight when I have to give a massage at 7. Hoping to get some other workout time in today as well. Last chance workouts coming up!!!!

Thank you for being our coach this week, PRINCESS VIJA, especially with the crazy busy week you've had!

There is sooooo much I would love to say right now, but I have to run. I feel like I am ALWAYS running! I read everyones posts, and I am going to try and catch up, but in the mean time I want to congratulate our big Losers!!! Way to go!

QOTD for Thursday:

Inspired from the Biggest Loser show last night.... Did you see the commercial regarding a Biggest Loser Vacation Destination? Looks like you can go to a "ranch" where they will customize weight loss for you...

Would you go?
How much would you be willing to spend?
Who would you take with you, or would you go by yourself?
What would you expect they could do for you?
Would you try and loose weight before you go?

I would go for a week or two -- a month would be great but that won't be happening until retirement. I would take DH. He could use it, too, but he might not agree. I expect that they could help me develop an exercise plan that is feasible and doable at home as well as help with nutritution. I would try and lose before I went -- just like if I was a BL contestant, the first thing I would do is start working out at a higher level so I didn't collapse in a puddle the first time they gave a physical challenge.

I have to say that I think I am with Maria on this one and that everything that I think they can do for me, I can do for myself. Now for a day or two with Bob or Jillian, that might be worth some money . . . .

And I have to say thank you donac and the COW, because I have actually done some exercise this week, instead of just saying that I am going to! :cool1:

 Shirley. There is no timetable for grieving. I am sorry that you are going through this. :sad1:

Please be sure and PM your weigh in to LuvBaloo and your COW info to donac tomorrow.

Get those "last chance" workouts in today! :yay:

Hmmm...well its been a rough transition back to reality!! I did finally get up this morning and workout and ate breakfast which was a good start!! I just have been snacking a lot more and I really have been beating myself up about it!! I have lost 29lbs so far on my journey to my goal weight and I don't want a vacation to ruin all of that...but at the same time I need to not get so down on myself!! I started well this morning and I'm going to go for a good day following my plan and my points!!!!

I also ordered two more Leslis Sansome WATP DVDs off Amazon so I'm looking forward to those coming in...does anyone else have any good workout DVD recommendations????

Shirley... I'm sorry its a rough time right now, but I'm glad you are also able to get joy from the memories you have of your DH!!

I'm not a Biggest Loser watcher at all...but I hear I should start LOL!!! So here are my answers for the QOTD

QOTD for Thursday:

Inspired from the Biggest Loser show last night.... Did you see the commercial regarding a Biggest Loser Vacation Destination? Looks like you can go to a "ranch" where they will customize weight loss for you...

Would you go? Hmmm...I think it would be fun to go, but I'm not sure I could talk myself into going!!!
How much would you be willing to spend? 1000.00 about what I would spend on a Disney vacation LOL!!!!
Who would you take with you, or would you go by yourself? Definitely go by myself...I would want to focus on me and my journey to weight loss
What would you expect they could do for you? Really help me focus on a daily plan that would work for me, including quick meals and workouts
Would you try and loose weight before you go? I would continue doing my WW and workout plan and hopefully would have lost a few more pounds before going.

Good Morning Everyone.

Congrats to all the BL's this week. Keep up the good work. I had a loss for the third week in a row although it's slowing down a bit. I'm not so sure about this week because I've decided to just weigh in once a week because I was getting too caught up in the numbers. Also, I'm cutting back on my mileage to get rested for my marathon next weekend. I also read I should be cutting back on my cross-training too so I only swam once this week and I'll give it up for next week. Going in to my race rested and full of energy is my priority right now, I'll resume the weight loss quest afterwards.

Shirley: Hugs to you. I really feel for you. Do know how blessed you were to have been married to someone that you loved so much. I'm sure it's hard but it's better than if you didn't feel sad about his passing. Keep plugging along, I'm sure it might be tempting to just give up on everything, but you owe it to yourself to be happy and have the rest of your life be rewarding.

tigger813: Sorry your parent's visit caused so much stress. That raspberry white russian sounds delicious.

Eeyore's Butterfly: Congrats to you for being up there with the top 10. Good luck with your 5 lb goal.

I like the idea of the BL ranch. I would like to go, but would miss my kids too much to go for more than a couple days. It would be great to have my DH go since he could use it. I'm not sure I would necessarily learn anything new, but it would give me the time to dedicate myself to just working out and eating healthy without all the other distractions of life. And if it meant that someone else was cooking my meals I'd pay $1000 for a week.

Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

Congrats jenjolt on your progress so far! :thumbsup2

We have some coaching slots open for the last week of our challenge. The last week we are trying something new, a coach of the day rotation. Meaning that you are coach for one day, only have to come up with one QOTD and we all get the benefit of a bunch of different perspectives for our last week.

Are you interested in being coach for a day in December?

Have a great OP day all!

Woo hoo LuvBaloo for 45 minutes this morning! :thumbsup2

I got up and walked this morning - hooray! I plan to do some wii fit step this afternoon after I vacuum. ;)

Would I go to the ranch? Hmmmm tough question. I would like to go to classes but not sure if I'd go to stay. I'd have to say no I wouldn't go.

/
I haven't done a QOTD in a while so..................

Would you go? Sure would
How much would you be willing to spend? This is really hard for me, I don't normally spend to much money on myself. LOL I honestly don't know.....
Who would you take with you, or would you go by yourself? I would love for DH to go with me.
What would you expect they could do for you? Hopefully teach the right way to eat and exercise to get the most out of what I'm doing.
Would you try and loose weight before you go? I probably would, though I don't know why??

What is the Wii Fit Plus??

QOTD:
Would you go? In a heart beat!
How much would you be willing to spend? Umm, maybe $1000.
Who would you take with you, or would you go by yourself? I would take my family (hubby and daughters) cause I can't be away from them. They wouldn't have to workout with me or anything but be there at night when I'm done. Maybe that way they could teach my hubby to like good for you foods too cause I can't get him to eat right.
What would you expect they could do for you? Get me on the right track. Help me figure out where I should be calorie wise and how many calories I should burn each workout and such. I'd also be able to do some weight training since I don't go to a gym now.
Would you try and loose weight before you go? I'd just keep doing what I'm doing now and hope to have a good start so the workouts don't totally kill me.

I forgot about the exercise cow. I would've gotten out my ball or something for 10 minutes on Tuesday when I was "resting" ooops. Well, unless I can call work my 10 minutes. I'm sure throughout the day my heartrate was elevated at least 10 minutes, maybe not in a row but still. ;) I was just so determined to get those veggies in this time!

Also, I'd be interested in being the leader for a day if you'd like. I don't care which day.

Thanks for helping me through this journey! I haven't lost much (.4 since we started...well, I don't know about this week yet I guess) but I appreciate having the support here when I need it!

OT I was just bad and fixed myself a drink! I only have one "Drink" a week so this will be it. My parents just left today after a 3 week visit that takes a lot out of me. My mom and I did walk but my dad has health issues (memory, possible Parkinsons or Alzheimers) and my mom doesn't know how to handle these issues and gets my BP boiling! I stayed home today and shampooed the carpets and did the 3 mile WATP and then tried the Wii Fit Plus to work off my stress. But I really wanted a drink so that will be it for the week. I plan on doing some more Wii Fit Plus tonight, the free step and the new obstacle course to off set the drink! Oh well, I will be able to be good this weekend! Sorry for the rambling! It's been a loooooonnngggg day! Thanks BLers!

Sorry to hear your Dad is not doing well. That is going to be tough on you... trying to take care of Dad (along with your Mom), but having to deal with how Mom is handling it. You are in a tough spot. But you can do it! Maybe do some reading up on dealing with aging parents, etc?? I'll bet the drink was YUMMY!

Hi everyone. I haven't been on, been having a rough few days. Not talking about the weight but thinking about dh.

Hunting season started last Saturday and he loved hunting. The man had about 24 tree stands. :lmao: He had so many different camaflouge clothes I told him that he could go anywhere in the world and fit in. :rotfl: His brother came by and he was upset too because they always hunted together. It didn't make a difference if they actually got anything they just loved going out to the woods and hanging around.

This is also the time of the year when we would take the dgkids to the mountains. He loved the mountains, loved walking the trails and if he could have he would have moved there. The kids wanted to know if we were going to the mountains and I had to tell them I don't know. I have never driven in the mountains so I will have to think this one over.

I think about him all the time but this week I seem to be exceptionally teary. I had one good cry about two weeks ago and I guess it must be time for me to have another one (if you ever need to cry just watch "Touched by an Angel").

I have always been so strong but his passing has just taken it out of me. I guess it really is just one day at a time.

Okay enough of feeling sorry for myself. Congratulations Sarah on being the top loser this week. Congratulations on all the losers and maintainers and better luck next weigh in for the gainers (me).

Sorry to hear you are having some sad days. It is tough when something like the seasons reminds you so strongly of someone you have lost. Maybe you could spend some time with your kids and grandkids and look at old photos and maybe make a scrapbook or memory book about his hunting and his love of this season? Just an idea. Hope you are feeling stronger soon.

QOTD for Thursday:

Inspired from the Biggest Loser show last night.... Did you see the commercial regarding a Biggest Loser Vacation Destination? Looks like you can go to a "ranch" where they will customize weight loss for you...

Would you go?
I would be interested, but it isn't a MUST-DO.
How much would you be willing to spend? Not much.... I am pretty cheap and I am ALWAYS saving any bits of extra money for the next WDW vacation.
Who would you take with you, or would you go by yourself? I would like to take my whole family. DH and DD need to lose weight (a lot for DH and a little for DD) and DS is slim enough, but has terrible eating habits. Also, DD does TONS of exercise, DS does just a bit of soccer and basketball, and DH is TOTAL couch potato. THey all need help (along with me, of course) in the area of eating right and exercise, so we would all benefit greatly.
What would you expect they could do for you? Well... for myself, I would like to learn some new lowfat family friendly recipes. I would also like to learn some new exercise routines. I am struggling to lose my last 10 pounds and I would love some help with that. I would hope that they could show/teach the rest of my family the benefits of healthy eating and regular exercise. My example doesn't seem to be enough.
Would you try and loose weight before you go? As I stated, I am within 10 pounds of goal, so not sure what the point would be for me, so probably not.

This week's questions have been GREAT! I'm glad I've had the time to read everyone's responses and reply myself!

I see a few of you took on my challenge yesterday and aimed for another 15 minutes of exercise. I hit the snooze too many times this morning and only got in 36 minutes today so far, but hopefully I will get in another 30 or more tonight as my "last chance workout" before weigh-in tomorrow. My weigh-ins have been a crap shoot lately.... I think I will lose and I gain.. I think I will gain and I lose... there is no obvious rhyme or reason! I am expecting to be down tomorrow, because I took a sneak peek earlier this week and it looked good... but Aunt Flo is in the house, so I am not sure how that will effect things.

I had someone ask me the other day if I run... she said I look like a runner!! WOW... that is quite a compliment (I think)! I was pretty excited. I don't really run, except for interval type training on the TM a few days a week (walk for 2 minutes/run for 2 minutes/sprint for 1 minute, repeat).

Well... I'm off to make some vegetable soup for lunch. I like to have a really low point day before weigh-in, so this sounds like a good thing to make!......P

To eat it or not to eat it, that is the question. My husband works part time at night and has been gone Mon-Wed at dinner time. I've done great at this meal all week. (My lunch sucked one day but this meal has been fine!) I have to clean my girls' dance studio tonight after my run so I told him go ahead and make whatever and I'll figure out what I can have and go from there. He came to my office this morning and said he's ordering pizza. We don't do it often because money is tight and we just try not to order out so we haven't done it in a long time. It sounds dilish and I've ben thinking about it ever since he came up here but I don't know if I dare. Tomorrow is weigh in. Should I eat something with that much sodium? I won't be over my cals by too much and I can run extra to burn extra but still the sodium......WWYD? HOnest opinions please! Thanks!

For Wednesdays QOTD:
Pick your favorite Disney spot (WDW, DLR, Castaway Cay, DCL, etc) WHERE WOULD YOU BE RIGHT NOW???? What would you be doing, give us details!
AND how do you envision your next trip to WDW/DLR/DCL to be different after your successful weight loss journey?

Well it's been a few years since we've been to DL - and we absolutely love it, especially Grand Californian. During the day we enjoy the parks, especially the Indiana Jones ride, and at night I loved looking out the window of our room with the park view.
That's my answer for today, if you ask me tomorrow I'm sure it will be different!
My next trip I'll fit in a lot more of my vacation clothes - that's for sure! Our trip to WDW last year, I had just enough short sleeve shirts and kept wearing the same 2 pairs of capris.

I didn't watch last night's episode yet, but I have to say I'm really interested that they've come up with this. Last season I actually told DH I wished they had this kind of thing. I'm close enough to my goal now that I don't know if I would spend the money to go, but I think it would be really cool.
I would expect great trainers to work with me in gym sessions and some fun forms of exercise like group hiking. Some group challenges like they do on the show - like the balance beam one from a few weeks ago. I would want a nutrition plan and hands on cooking classes.
I would just continue on my weight loss journey as is before attending.
I would probably want to go by myself so that I could really focus on me and my health/fitness.

Lynsey...Honestly...I would eat it. Can you have a salad first and stop with one piece? That way you don't overdo it but you still enjoy it.

That's what I was thinking. I don't know about the stopping at one piece though and I don't want to eat the salad and then keep eating pizza either. I'm going to make a deal with myself now, salad and 2 pieces, no more than that!

I put it in my daily plate and I come up 32 cals short for the day! WOOHOO!

Perfect!

What is the Wii Fit Plus??

The Wii Fit Plus is a new game disc. It has all of the old games from the Wii Fit PLUS 15 new games. You can also do a 3 activity routine. When you load the disk for the first time it will gather your old information and Miis from the old game. I am quite impressed with it and am headed down shortly to do some old and new stuff! It's only $20!

Well.... I guess I will be the one to disagree here. I would NOT eat the pizza the night before weigh-in. I guess it is unrealistic to expect that pizza and other foods like that could ALWAYS be avoided the day before a weigh-in, and truly, if you are only gaining sodium/fluid weight, no big deal... it will be gone later. But I need that encouragement on the scale most weeks and would be kind of mad at myself if I blew it with a piece (or two or three) of pizza the night before. Think about how you will feel tomorrow if the scale doesn't reflect your hard work for this week. If you are okay with whatever it says and can remind yourself that it is likely fluid retention weight, then go ahead and have the pizza. But if you are going to get discouraged and beat yourself up over the the food, then avoid it. JMHO... but you asked.:)..................P
