Biggest Loser 4 Week 9

Congrats to all the losers this weeek especially my buddy Lisa Keep up the great work.

I am working through some problems at home and at work. When I get a chance on Sat I will unload everything.

I'm back after wandering away for a little while. I had been battling blisters, then DD brought something home from preschool, and we all know that what causes sniffles in preschoolers is practically the plague in grown ups, so I was out for a week. On the heels of that I threw my back out, I was really getting frustrated, I had been trying so hard and just kept getting hit with obstacle after obstacle.

Finally I got back in the gym, still working the blister issue, and was going back to the gym regularly. I finally got new running shoes, I broke down and went to somewhere they fit runners, learned a bunch about what I needed and now have a great pair of shoes. The price tag almost made me faint but they are great.

I had worked through a sinus infection, which is rearing it's ugly head again, but I'm working through it.

This morning I bit the bullet and joined weight watchers, I've been losing and gaining the same 4 pounds this whole challenge, I'm obviously doing something wrong and this will at least let me get a handle on things again.

I need to apologize to my buddy, I had thought I had emailed her back the other week when she wrote and I hadn't, I'm so sorry. While I hadn't been reading here a lot I had at least been keeping up with her.

I plan on spending more time here at WISH again. I'm hoping to work off 25-30 pounds before I leave for WDW the 1st of June. I still have my first running race on the 8th, it's a one miler, but I know I can do it.

I am so frustrated right now- I was really good all week.- except for my Red Losbter night. I am logging everything I eat on spark people and staying under my calories. I work out like a crazy person and I lost nothing...... It so hard to stay away from the goodies right now. I am gald all of you are here. Cause reading all this helps.

Congrats again and good luck to the rest of us.

just curious...when you say "under calories" how far under?? how about water, gettin' your water in? have you been doing the same workout for months on end?

i have been doing well this week, partly b/c i'm going on a scrapbooking weekend and will have NO control over the food. if my Mom (AEG) pokes in here she'll attest that i'm pouting b/c I emailed the B & B scrapbooking retreat place and told them that Mom and I were 'actively' trying to lose weight and I wondered if the food selections would include some healthier options. their answer was a big fat NO and i shoud bring my own healthy snacks if I want to be sure to have some. :snooty: hhmmph? aren't I paying for this? my dear sweet Mom has offered to pack up some healthy options b/c i'm still pouting....

off to get the chicken in the oven! what's for dinner at your house tonight? we are having a roasted chicken..

oh, and chris...i'm glad you are feeling better! there is ALOT of upper respiratory crud around town and my DH has picked it up..I hope it bypasses me!

WOOHOOO!!!!! Congrats to all our losers! Especially LisaViolet!! Way to GO!!! I feel bad that I didn't "do my part" to boost up that loss, but this is my "fat week" I guess. Just wait until next week, (my "thin week") when I will lose alot!!

Hey, we're having chicken too!!! My kids are cooking dinner tonite!:cheer2: They are making herbed chicken thighs with veggies--this is the recipe they made for their cooking school awards dinner on Sunday. it was SO good, I asked them to make it for us tonite, and they agreed!

Joanne, sweetheart, I can tell you exactly why you are not losing! You are STARVING yourself, and your body is in survival mode!!!!!! You are eating about 500-600 calories a DAY! :scared1: That is less than half of what your body needs just to stay alive! Not to mention all that exercise ou are doing. You probably need at least 1600-1800 calories a day--likely even more than that! Get thee to a nutritionist and find out exactly what you should eat. Because as long as you eat like this, you are NOT going to lose anything except your health!!!

(Taking off lecturing Nurse's cap now...)

Congratulations to the top ten! :cool1: Way to go guys.

And a special :dance3: and :yay: for my buddy Debi. Debi, I said "a loss is a loss". NOPE!!!! It's a top ten loss! :lmao: ;) See! Yeah!:yay:

And a :dance3: and :woohoo: for ME!

I have to say, and I know this is quite annoying, the #1 is an uncomfortable postion for me. I know, I know...shut up Lisa.:rolleyes1 But it is eye opening to see how warped my thoughts are. It's uncomfortable. I thought about the BL this week when Jillian said she has a lot of clients that start to feel uncomfortable when things are going well. And stop or sabatoge. And that she could see that in Brittany/Britney. So warped. Sigh.

So here's to cracking a very unhealthy thought process. Yeah for ME!:thumbsup2

Thanks Wendy. Great post.

Lisa

Congratulations, Lisa!!! You earned it this week! Great job. And to all of the other Superstars

Joanne - Unless there are more calories in your dinner than it sounds, I have to agree with Wendy. It sounds like your body is believing itself to be starving and thus holding onto what it has for all its worth. Do you watch Biggest Loser? Jillian told Brittany and Kelly the same thing a few weeks ago. They were each getting 500 or 1000 calories daily and their loses were only about 1lb. She said that they needed to be closer to 1600 based on there current weight and the amount of exercise they are getting. Otherwise, their body feels like it is starving and goes into survival mode.

I know that Sparkpeople bottoms you out at 1200 calories. No matter what you put as your goal, it will not program you for less than that. When I set things to be very aggressive in weight loss (2lbs per week), it gives me a range of 1200-1550 or so. I take that to be the minimum number of calories I can ever have without having adverse effects on my goals.

Good luck to everyone moving forward this week. I'm a little down and out on the exercise yesterday and today. I got in 20 min of mall walking and planned to bike later, but succeeded in twisting my ankle while walking across the room that evening. (No there was nothing in my path or anything, it just gave out. It does that sometimes. ) So, I was out for the rest of the night. I did do some slower-than-normal walking at the mall today while waiting for DH and got some minutes in. It wasn't a very high-calorie burning speed, but it was movement at least while I try to heal. The ankle is a little achy now so I may pass on the bike one more night. Hopefully I'll be able to work myself back up to it tomorrow with no problems.

Hear Ye, Hear Ye, the Weight Keeper speaks

We started the week with 62 participants. 7 folks have not checked in for three weeks and have been dropped from the challenge. Of course they will be welcomed with open arms if they decide to make a report to me in the future. 2 new participants have joined us this week.

:welcome: to cats7494 - ??? and praline3001 - Brook that have joined us this week.

We are now at 57 current participants. 19 people did not check in for the week. That is 1/3 of our participants. 5 of them have missed 2 weeks, 14 have missed one week. One newbie will report their first weight change next week.

37 participants weighed in this week. We had 12 gains (almost 1/3 of us GAINED for the week), 8 maintains (that means that 54% of us did NOT lose weight this week), and 17 losses. Only 17 losses this week. That makes the odds of getting into the top ten very good. I should have a number for that since I took statistics but well sorry guys, does anyone even care about any of this stuff anyway?

Now let's look at our cumulative new loss. When folks drop out their losses are subtracted from the total. We had some pretty big losers drop out this week. We lost a 15 pound loss and three 8 pound losses that dropped out. So this week the addition of those pounds really hurt our cumulative loss. This week our 17 losers lost 26.9 pounds and our 12 gains were 11.3 pounds. Losses ranged from .2 pounds to 3.6 pounds and our gains ranged from .2 to 3 pounds. Our net loss for the week was 15.6 pounds and our cumulative net loss is now 411.1 pounds.

Great job Lisa. Claim your clippie. Wear it proudly. You have earned it!

followed by the backslash IMG "". Congratulations Lisa!!! You add so much to our weekly thread and are so welcoming and encouraging to everyone. I'm glad it is finally your week to shine.

Wendy last weeks Biggest Loser must now give up the clippie. Only one loser may reign at a time.

Congratulations to all our superstars. I sure picked the right week to finally get back in the game. It has been a longlonglong time since I have been a superstar. Hey you could be a superstar next week.

This has been a monumental week for two superstars that have arrived in one-derland this week. Yes they now weigh in the 100s. What a one-derful accomplishment. Since we started our challenge one other person has arrived and I see at least 6 other people that could possibly get there by the end of our challenge. I know you can do it ladies!

I am already thinking about my big list to be published after week 10. In addition to our top losers it will name our perfect attendance superstars and those that have not gained at all during our challenge (I hope we still have some of those after 10 weeks).

I'm sorry I can't name everyone a superstar every week. Just by sticking with this challenge and trying to develop healthy habits you are superstars to me. As a group we seem to have had a difficult week. How was your week? Will this week be better? What are your plans to improve things this week? What are you doing to become a superstar?

So my fellow losers keep working your plan. If your plan isn't working then rework the plan. East less, move more. Find something that works for you and stick with it and try your hardest. With hard work we can all be losers and reach our weight loss goals.

Have a healthy day!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: To my buddy Brenda, Keep up the great work. Together we can keep you in the top 10 and I want to join you there next week. I think i was close(at least within 7 spots:rotfl: )

Amanda

Congratulations to this weeks superstars!!! Extra special congrats to my buddy Gretchen-mercobear!!! And Lisa, #1!! Whoo hoo, that clippie looks awesome in your signature. Nice job everyone.

I think I may have made the top ten out of the gainers!! And I'm gonna push for that perfect attendance.:rotfl: Luckily I go to wdw on a wed and return on monday, so I won't miss a weighin day. Probably won't like the weight after vacation, but it will be worth it.

Brenda- Congratulations to you for being one of our top ten superstars!! You are a superstar every week with all the tabulating and calculating you do for us all. You are so appreciated. It is so fun to see the superstars, and you posts are always so motivating and inspiring.

Joanne- I would definitely agree with the others who have posted that you are not eating enough, especially with your amount of activity. I would bet if you can increase your calories you will see much better losses. good luck.

Keep up the great work everyone!! Next week we'll all be big losers!!

Hello everyone,

Huge congratulations to all of the top 10. I am very happy to be at #5. I am in steady and slow mode. I feel encouraged and am sticking with this to the end and well --- beyond. I have lost a total of 10 pounds since we started and am ready to take the next 10 off!

Thanks so much to all that work with the numbers and the moderators of this thread. I really do appreciate each and everyone of you! All the words of encouragement sure help me and other as well, that goes without saying.

For those that are maintaining or gaining, I encourage you stay with a plan and or a program and to not give up!

:grouphug:

Ummmm. Can someone help me make my clippie a tad smaller? Pretty please. Even with sugar on top. :lmao:

Thank you so much - I defiantely needed this. I just have been out of control the past couple of weeks and while I didn't want to give up I also didn't feel ready to start over. I do now! :thanks:

Congrats to all our big losers this week! Great job! :thumbsup2

ok, I am going to try more calories. I am going to print the sparkpeople menu and see if that helps. Thanks for the support. I am just not good at the menu thing. I like easy. But I guess if this is going to work I have to plan better.

Thanks again every one.
