Biggest Loser 2009 - Couples 2

Didn't Ali - season 5 winner - meet her goal weight? She started at 234 and finished at 122. And the same season Mark went from 285 to 156.
According to the link I posted Mark was at 184 for the Dec. 16, 2008 article and Ali at 125, their finale weights were 156 and 122.

Didn't Bob say last season (or maybe it was this one) that one of the past winners gained all of the weight back?

I think an even better twist would be to have them weigh in again after a year! Keeping it off has got to be so hard, as we have seen so many past BL winners gain much of the weight back.

Just remember that this is a game, though. Many lose far more than their body can handle, also. So they gain anywhere from 5-40 lbs back b/c of all the extreme measures they go to, to loose the weight. Once they are at home all bets are off and they don't normally stick to what's "healthy" they go to something like low carb or continue the super extreme excersize.

Some of those really tall guys can't sustain 180 lbs. However they still look good and are healthy around 220 lbs.

Just something to keep in mind when thinking of past contestants. It's still a game and the "heathy" or not the name of the game is loosing as much weight as possible any way you can or know how.

The original biggest loser from the first season has gained back all his weight.

Please remember that food is a HUGE addiction to these people. So they are going to yo-yo just like the rest of us "normal" people who aren't on television. It's easy for us to say they wasted their time and someone who really wanted this should have gotten a shot. These people, at the time of their casting wanted just as bad. There are other factors...

You're only committed for the duration of the show. Your spouse isn't supportive and you get tired of making 2 different meals every night. Something horrible happens which drives you back to eating.

It wasn't until a few seasons ago where they even mentioned that they tried psychological healing. Actually, it's still not totally done b/c the support is "said to be there" but in the end they have to do what their trainers tell them. I think last season was like the first season where they had access to a gym and trainers once they left the show.

So the show, behind the scenes, has evolved some...but it's still a show and it's still all about doing the most for as little money as possible.

Ali has been able to keep the weight off. That guy before her (the twins) have been doing well. Mark has gone back and forth. Suzi was doing really well until she got pregnant and then she got pregnant again. Matt, of course, gained some with her.

But few that lost over 100 lbs have gained all that back. Some have gained 40 - 60 lbs back but perhaps they didn't want to be a size 2. That is hard to maintain for someone who struggles with weight.

Oprah had a show a couple months back with some of the past contestants.
Erik, who won a couple seasons back, also gained back his weight. It was shame because I remember how great he looked at the finale.

Wow, I thought this thread would be hopping by now...

So, did Aubrey eat two cookies or not???? Did you see Kristen trying to raise Aubrey's hand when Allison asked if anyone had eaten any?

I think Kristen and Cathy had an agreement going. I think Kristen will lose BIG next week!

I haven't watched all of the seasons. I caught the finale of the last season Caroline Rae hosted. Then I think the first full one I watched was the one Jillian came back and trained a team in secret. Was that Ali's first season hosting?

I thought this episode was kind of boring. I guess I haven't really been paying attention to Ron's weight loss totals (too much FFing) because I thought he wasn't doing very well.

Also, how do you make cauliflower taste like mashed potatos? Someone help me with that one. :rolleyes1

Yeah, I wondered about Aubrey's cookie-eating as well! Cuz they showed her eating at least 2 cookies!

I don't blame Tara for being mad at Helen for eating her cookie...it's like Tara said "Did that help YOU win?"

I still think it is absolutely ridiculous that Filipe/Sione are training with Bob - and I loved Jillian's comment about how since they've been back with Bob, they've barely lost anything.

I was surprised to see Cathy go home...I wonder what happens next week when blue team loses again. LOL

Did anyone else think the shot of Kristin finishing the marathon look staged? She didn't look sweaty or tired at all. :confused3

It's hard enough to run marathons and half marathons without worrying about whether someone ate a stupid cookie to add to your time. I wish time alone had determined the winner because the task was so difficult. Helen was just vindictive to eat the cookie and add to Tara's time...that was not gameplay. I already dislike Bob, ROn, Felipe and Sione, now Helen.

That is in those sneaky chef books. You steam and puree them and then you can add them to sauces, mashed potatoes, etc.
I bought the Seinfeld wife book and haven't done it yet.

As far as this season, bring back Vicky. These people appear to "nice" but they are carrying switchblades and will stab you in the dark.

So who is thinking they are going individuals next week?

Our cable was cutting in and out, so we missed some of it, but DW and I were both really ticked at the challenge. A 5-minute per cookie penalty was insane - as I told DW, a determined couple could eat enough cookies to give Ryan Hall (who has run a half-marathon in under an hour) an effective time of close to 3 hours!

I did wonder what happened with some of the cookies. We both swore that several people ate them, but maybe they only bothered showing ones where it would make a difference? :confused3

In the previews for next week they were all back in their original team colors and Sione & Filipe were over on the Bob side for the weigh in. I hope that means they are back as individuals.

Yes, and you had to raise your hand and add the time. That was pretty crappy.

Yes, that would be it. Aubrey may have eaten two cookies, but since she didn't eat them to penalize Tara or Sionne, they didn't show her eating them.

Mike is only 16 , he can't drink.

I think Bob should have sent them back too. Now I see why they are looking for new trainer. I think these two are burned out.

There looking for a new trainer? Who are they replacing? I hope it's Jillian, she drives me nuts.
