Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

No diagnosis yet, though myeloma is what is suspected!

I've been awake since 4am! Just couldn't get back to sleep and my mind was racing! Went to Izzie's conference. Now I'm home watching BL from last night. When this is over I'm going to clean Izzie's room prior to her playdate. I have to pick the kids up at 12. It's not a great day out today so they will probably play inside, watch a movie and play PS3.

I need to make my shake during the next commercial and have my tea.

Hoping to take Ash shopping tonight for her b'day supplies.

TTFN :tigger:

Hope my mom watched BL last night! Loved this quote from Jillian Michaels!

"When you have a why to live for, you can tolerate any fight, any amount of pain, any amount of struggle!"

This morning I have pain in the front of my shin so I'm thinking maybe shin splints, but I'll give it another try tonight as long as it's not pouring out. I have my new ipod shuffle with good songs, so that helps.
I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on tv, so feel free to ignore me.:thumbsup2 I have had some nasty issues with shin splints in the past. It's usually the reason I stop running. This time when I started running again I did things differently and have had no issues. One school of thought is that shin splints are caused/made worse by tight calves. This time I very, very rarely run on consecutive days. I very rarely run more than 3 or 4 days a week. What I do a lot of is cross training--strength class and the elliptical. Some folks will argue that the elliptical should not be considered cross training, but for me it worked great. I could just not stretch my calves enough--probably mostly because I'm impatient. But because of the way the elliptical works it's essentially stretching my calves the entire time I'm doing it.

Anyhow, three things to try--not running consecutive days, icing your shins after every run at least until you have been pain free for a while, and some form of calf stretching. Good luck!

Good morning everyones special hi to my former team Mickey. I just wanted to send and update on whats going on. After my surgery for the melanoma March 16th things have been slow. The county nurse that came in when I got home put the wrong bandage on the open wound where the skin graph was placed. This resulted in part of it drying up and dying. I have been basically in bed toes above the nose since. i have battled infection went to the doctors yesterday things are looking better but we are now waiting for the areas that the graph died to grow new skin a slow process. I am to remain off my feet as much as possible until its healed (he said sould be in about 6 more weeks) UGGH
The good news is that I can make the trip to Disney with my family this upcoming weekend as long as I do very minimal walking. It will be my first experience with a scooter but I hope it will still be fun....
I guess a better view than my own home will be a good change and hopefully pick up my spirits.
Please to both teams use sunscreen. I loved the sun so much and I loved using tanning beds as well (never thought it would be me) I now have a large hole in my leg the size of a tennis ball or larger and 4 inch incision where they took out the lymph nodes in my groin area and a large red spot on my thigh were they took the graph from. Do not follow me..... Check any moles you may have as thats where mine started. I would be willing to share very graphic pics of what my leg looks like now if you send private message. very sickning to look at I will probably never go out in public again with it showing.
Thanks for all the comfort and support to the team and the Dis boards itself as they have meant so much to me over the past few months.
I am so glad you can go on your trip.:goodvibes A change of scenery sounds like just what you need. I am so sorry it has gone so poorly, but I really hope they got it all. And I hope that you join the summer challenge.

Hope my mom watched BL last night! Loved this quote from Jillian Michaels!

"When you have a why to live for, you can tolerate any fight, any amount of pain, any amount of struggle!"
This is a great quote Tracey.:goodvibes I will keep your Mom in my thoughts.

*****
How is everyone? I am feeling much more like myself lately. I love having Wednesdays off, but the last several weeks I have been feeling so blah and have felt like I have just wasted my Wednesdays. So, I'm very happy to feel my motivation back.

Have a great day.:goodvibes

Jking- Great to hear from you! Have a great time on your trip! My 72 year old dad used the scooter at Disney in December and did really well with it. He has Parkinsons and sometimes he is slow to react but it was awesome!!!!

Rose- Thanks! It's going to be 2 LONGGGGGG days!

Right wrist is bothering me so I'm going to give it a heat treatment with my wax pot. I just plugged it in. Hopefully it will heat up and the wax will melt quickly. Just talked to my co-worker and asked her not to schedule me tonight as I want to give it a rest. I also need to take Ash shopping tonight for her party!

Watching BL from last night! Then I will watch Glee and then work on Izzie's room and finish listening to podcasts from last week.

I've been crazy busy the last few weeks and feel like I haven't been on here a whole lot.

My mom was here for two weeks getting her house cleaned and packed up. She left the morning of Mother's Day. Alan went with me to get a pedicure and his eye brows waxed. talk about a funny experience for him but I'm glad he enjoyed it.

While mom was here we had the cats declawed and Taylor didn't do that great. She's home now and has had 4 cold laser treatments and her paws are improving each day. We're leaving Monday morning for Florida and we'll take Taylor to the vet Saturday morning. Both vets agreed with me when I said I wanted to board her while we were gone. I just feel a lot more comfortable with her being at the vet's office where they can keep an eye on her. Plus Dr. M can come to the office and still give her the laser treatments that she needs.

Alan has been super busy at the shop. He had a buddy who lost his shop and so Alan took all his business. He's got about a dozen cars that he and his mechanic are working on. So "R" will have a lot to do to keep him busy while we're gone.

I've got more packing and cleaning to do today. I also need to go to my lawyer's office later on this morning.

Oh and totally off topic but is it just me but have these last few months just flown by? January dragged and I thought it would never end. But I swear I blinked and we were in May. talk about craziness..

5 days til Disney bound! ::MickeyMo

Question of the Day

Over the course of this challenge we have to gotten to know each other pretty well but there is always a long dark hidden secret being kept. Tell us one thing that we don't know about you.
One of the things you don't know about me was that I was a baton twirler for 5 years...and won 2nd place in Showstoppers Competition. My high school didn't have a marching band so my twirling went out the window after middle school.

The good news is that I can make the trip to Disney with my family this upcoming weekend as long as I do very minimal walking. It will be my first experience with a scooter but I hope it will still be fun....
I guess a better view than my own home will be a good change and hopefully pick up my spirits.
Sending you lots of :hug:! I'm so glad you can make the Disney trip and I have to say that I hear you about sunscreen. I am very fair and my grandfather always told me to use sunscreen. He later developed skin cancer which spread when he was 80 years old. He had many graphs and scars but I loved and listened to him just the same. With all the bronzers out there today, young people have an option. Needless to say, I use a sunblock, a hat, and sit under an umbrella when at the beach. I am sending you :goodvibes and :wizard: for your trip!

My day is not starting out well. First day I didn't get up at 6:00, got up at 8:00 today. Not feeling well and already ate 2 oatmeal cookies (220 cals total). Don't think I will run today, have run the past 4 days and yesterday I ran 3.1 miles, the furtherest I've ever gone. I was excited yesterday to do it again today and time myself but I've decided to take the day off exercise. I'm up .5 on the scale today so still pretty much holding it together despite all the temptations facing me. Lunch at Taco Bell yesterday was $2.15 and 500 calories - fresco crunchy taco and fresco bean burrito.

Went shopping yesterday. The Malls are so empty! It's depressing but I guess that's the economy and what a week day looks like. I bought a new pair of capri pants, 4 tops (1 is going back), running capris and top and new sandals-Clark bendables. Not real pretty but oh so comfortable! I am now in 16 capris and Medium top. The Medium is a little snug but I don't like how the Large is so much longer. 10 lbs from now the Medium will fit much better:goodvibes

I'll have to be extra careful with food today since I didn't jog and I ate those 2 cookies:headache:

Feeling a little better and more motivated already just by connecting with you guys:love:

Have a great day!

Shawnprincess:
Hang in there Shawn!! You have been so busy looking at houses and high schools and such...you can do it! I am sending you :hug:s for a successful eating day!

Hope my mom watched BL last night! Loved this quote from Jillian Michaels!

"When you have a why to live for, you can tolerate any fight, any amount of pain, any amount of struggle!"
LOVE LOVE LOVE this! I'm reposting this to FB. My friend Suzanne was just diagnosed with a very aggressive cervical cancer at age 37. She has 2 little boys and is finally marrying the love of her life this September (the first marriage was the man of her father's dreams :scared1:). She is scared and angry but she has sooo much to live for!! Thanks Tracey!

*********
Good Morning All!
I was off the grid yesterday chaparoning the 9th grade trip to Sandy Hook (New Jersey beaches!!). They learned about the marine life, used hip waders to capture creatures in nets (and then release them), and we did some shell collecting to end the day. It was a little chilly in the shade but overall a beautiful day! Since I did so much walking, I nixed my miles for last night and just rested. I think I needed it. My knee was killing me this morning and I am hoping it was just the way I slept last night. I have my trainer at 4:30 and then I want to go jogging (no matter how painful!!) I have my next 5K on Saturday so I have to hydrate beginning today. WOW, as I typed that I really felt like a runner...:lmao:

The rest of my day looks to be pretty quiet. We are doing a little presentation about interviewing for college for the girls on Monday so I am looking for visuals to show them....tough to find!

So, back to searching the internet! Have a great day my friends!!

Dona (donac) has agreed to take over as weight keeper! I just need one more thing off my plate. I don't know how much I will be around this summer.

Thanks Dona for taking this over! I will finish out this challenge.

Oh yeah, I'll get to posting the weigh ins this afternoon.

Anyhow, things are going well. I am off tomorrow, so I'm hoping to catch up. :)

Im glad you are feeling and sounding more like yourself Rose.

Nick had a game tonight. They played well again and won against one of their more difficult teams. It's amazing how much they have improved in such a short time. Nick is really playing well.

Yay Nick!!!!!

I'm down 1.2 at WW

Great Job CC!

Good morning everyones special hi to my former team Mickey. I just wanted to send and update on whats going on. After my surgery for the melanoma March 16th things have been slow.

I admit I am also the type that thinks things wont happen to me. Thanks for the reminder of protecting our skin. I often forgot sunscreen and I have a lot of moles. If you dont mind sharing how did you find the melanoma?

Im so glad you are able to go on your trip. Have a great time!

Sounds like shopping was successful and woohoo for the medium tops.

Hope my mom watched BL last night! Loved this quote from Jillian Michaels!

that is very inspirational...prayers!!!!!

5 days til Disney bound! ::MickeyMo

Wow time is flying by. Less than a week. I bet you are so excited!

Hi Team,

P90X day 2 Cardio was alot more fun than the first DVD. It feels so good to use those muscles that have been hibernating. Im glad my dh is doing this with me because I can already hear the excuses starting in my head.:rotfl:

I think tonight I may try to fit a run in too. I also need to drink more water!!!!! I forgot my bottle at home so this will be a bit more challenging today.

Otherwise life is good at the moment. Its beautiful and sunny out! Now if I could just hit the lottery so I can be outside all day to enjoy it life would be even better.:rotfl2:

Tigger I'm sorry to hear about your mom. Love that quote from Jillian Michaels. it's very true and I hope your mom takes it to heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you guys.

I missed last weeks weigh in but I do see that DonaC is our new weight taker so I'll be sure to get my weight into her this friday.

I'm sorry I haven't been around. My MIL was in town and things have just been so busy. I didn't get a chance to pop onto the Disboards at all last week.

I just thought I would share a couple pictures

This was in december at my heaviest (249 lbs)

This picture was taken last week at 209 lbs (at 40 lbs of weight lost)

Great pics!!! Congrats on the 40 pounds!

Tracey is still keeping weights for us until this challenge ends.

Donac is taking over for the next challenge.

Sorry for any confusion!

Hola folks!!! I haven't read anything here since last Thursday, but I wanted say.....

I'm back! It was an amazing trip! We had SO MUCH FUN!! Buffy and her DS were so great to hang around with and the kids got along great!! That made the trip extra special!!

I'm sorry I didn't get back on here before now. We arrived home at about 1 am on Tuesday morning and had to be up and moving for school and such about 6 am.... plus it was a busy day with "stuff" so I wasn't even home all day! And of course, we were already exhausted from our commando 4 days in the parks, so we are absolutely wiped out!!

I'm home today and catching up on laundry, etc. Suitcases are empty and I have just a few last things to put away. As soon as I have a chance I PROMISE I will read what I've missed and tell a few details about our trip (other than the predicted 5 pounds that I gained!! ;)) and hopefully put up a few pictures!!

I've really missed talking with you all and as soon as I have some time, I promise I'll be back to chat...................P

Biggest Loser 11 Spring Challenge Week 18!
This week’s group loss is 8.7 lbs

Total group weight loss for both teams so far 1256.5 pounds! WOW!!!!!
AWESOME!

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet. (btw if its been more than 1 week between weigh-ins, then the % loss is divided by the number of weeks, to keep everybody on the same basis)

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of the week? This time I’ve done a TOP 8 LIST ! That criteria may change from week to week. Hey I'm in charge here and I get paid nothin' to do this so you better take what you can get! (and if there’s something you want to know, just ask me!)

The WISH Biggest Loser 11 Spring Challenge Week 18 Superstars!!

#8- .52% Bernard&MissBianca (D)

Welcome home!!!!!!!

I'm still wiped out! I'm looking forward to the weekend so I can get some much needed sleep.

Better late than never!

Kids are watching Star Wars the Clone Wars and then they want to play the PS3 game. They are so cute together. They love Star Wars and Legos!

Did a paraffin treatment for my hand and may do another one later and do the other hand. I love how soft my hand feels afterward. The heat felt nice on my hand!

Got my shopping list made and my coupons together and my bags in the car. Need to make a b'day card for the party that Izzie missed on Sunday.

I think the sun is trying to come out! Was drizzling when I picked the kids up!

Should clean the kitchen!

TTFN :tigger:

OH NO, I KILLED THE THREAD!!!!!

Just talked to my mom. Her MRI took 3 hours but she did ok. Her appointment is tomorrow at 2:20. It's going to be a long day! Of course, today has been long!

Did something really STUPID! Went to Costoc with my coupons for things like my new Magic Bullet! Coupons don't start until TOMORROW!!!! Boy, that TICKED me off!!!! Ash and I left Costco and paid $3.92 for gas and then went to iParty to get her party favors for next Wednesday. Then we went and got supper at Chipotle! It was her first meal there. She got a taco kit with rice and steak and loved it! Brian got a burrito and I got a salad with steak! It was so worth the trip just for that!!!!! So not all a waste!

Been awake since 4 this morning so I'm exhausted and have a slight headache. I had two sodas today! Didn't exercise but I will try to get up tomorrow and do that before I head into work!

No clients that I know of tomorrow so maybe I can get my nails done.

My 85 year old neighbor had hip replacement today. Her son just called and said things went very well. I will try and give her a call tomorrow afternoon. She's a bit out of it tonight!

Watching Survivor now and getting the kids to bed!

TTFN :tigger:

As I sit here after polishing off the rest of michael's white chocolate bunny I figured I should post and say hello, and hope that will at least get me moving in the right direction again. :rolleyes1

Been a busy week with baseball monday and tonight, and last night I studied for my recert class today for advanced cardiac life support. I tend to not pick up the book til the day before, and then worry I'm going to fail, but always end up doing fine, but by the next recert in 2 years, I won't remember again, and I'll get nervous again. Oh well, I'm glad it's over. Ds had his final day of the state testing today. He said it was fine, for both math and english, so it will be interesting to see how he did. We also made a summer camp schedule, but had some trouble trying to register for some online, so I'll just go to the Y and rec dept on friday. We have 2 days with no baseball, so it will be nice not to rush after work.

Tracey- big hugs to your mom and all of you. Such a stressful time, and I'm sure your poor mom is so overwhelmed. I hope the rest of her workup goes smoothly and they make a treatment plan and that she is able to find some relief that she is fighting it, and doing something about it. Love jillian's quote. Hang in there. Thank you for all your time as weightkeeper.:flower3:

Sparks- you look amazing!! So happy for you and I am also very inspired to get my butt in gear and make some changes like you have made.

Rose-Thank you so much for organizing these challenges, and getting the summer one up and rolling. I can't believe we're almost done with this challenge. Time does fly. I'm pm you about coaching too. Glad you're off to a good start with ds home, and are feeling back to yourself. That's great news you can get back to all other exercise but running, and hopefully you'll be healing up quickly and able to run again soon.:goodvibes

Thank you CC, Connie, Lisa and Dona for all you do for us and these challenges.

jking- So sorry to hear all you have been through, but glad things are improving, and you are able to go on your trip. I hope you have the wonderful vacation that you deserve.:goodvibes

Karen- I hope the knee is feeling better, and you were able to run without pain. So exciting you are a runner and doing another 5k this weekend!!!

Lindsay-thanks for the nurses week wishes. The p90x sounds like a great form of torture, but like Rose said, keep it up and you'll be sporting some good muscles this summer. I hope you hit the lottery and can become a stay at home mom.;) That would be my dream. Oh, thanks for the reminder, I'm on call this weekend and we always buy some scratch tickets when I'm on call.

Disneywedding- so excited your trip is coming up. :thumbsup2

Congrats to all our top losers and maintainers!!!:yay:

Cam- Happy to see your name up there, you must be doing better journalling than I am.;)

Sue -Nice job on doing some run walking!! Do I sense a disney race in your future?????? You must be getting so excited for your cruise.

Shawn- Congrats on your medium shirts!! So excited for you. I work with 2 docs who are big germaphobes. Interesting they chose to practice gastroenterology.:rotfl2: Hope the house hunting is going well.:goodvibes

Hello Lisa, Maria, Buffy, Pamela, Dona, and everyone I've missed.

I feel better just coming here and once again for the millionth time saying I am going to get back on track. I did get up the last two mornings and while I watch the news I've been doing some exercises, hand weights, and the foot movements from the WATP videos. I'm going to do that tonight for half of criminal minds since I didn't get out for a run/walk today.

My 5k is in 5 weeks, and I mentioned it to some girls at work, and a few of them are going to do it too, some walking, and some run/walking. I definitely want to get my speed up to finish in under 40 min, so I need to get out more than 2 days a week. Since I caught up tongiht, I don't need to come on in the morning and I can go for a quick run instead. :thumbsup2 I need to do it.

Never give up!! Trying and getting back in the wagon is so much better than giving up. :goodvibes Have a great night everyone!!

Thanks, Kathy!

Did you check out the thread about the DisMeet on July 2nd?
