Good morning, friends. We'll I didn't post at all yesterday, and ended up coming home from
walmart with a box of white powdered sugar donuts and frosted cookies and devoured so many of them, and I just couldn't stop. I don't know why. I need to go back and read that emotional eating article again. Sure they tasted good going down, but after it made me sick that I did it. I really haven't been that out of control in a long time. I'm not under any more stress, just a little more aggravation this week with the other scout leader who never returns calls, so we are supposed to have a meeting tonight, but I don't know where. I'm taking the phone numbers of the other boys to work, and if i don't hear from her by lunch, I'll just make a plan. It's frustrating, but not half a box of donuts and cookies frustrating.
I did journal all of them, so that is something. So I'm over my flex points by 10 this week. Lucky tomorrow is a new week. I had started the day off with a short run/walk before work too. Oh well, today is a new day.
What do you guys think? Is 9 months enough time to get from a 5K to a half? I've been running for only 2 months, but had been exercising very consistently for 1 1/2 years prior to this.
I would say definitely. I think you will find the disney race a huge motivator to get your runs in. For the princess, I started run/walking in feb, and set the goal of doing 7 miles at least once by october and if I could do it, I would register for the princess. And I did. I am so excited the race is at DL for you and Lisa, and anyone else out west. DL is on my list of places to go, but not this january, but I'll be rooting for you from MA.
My DS9 wants to do either the 5K or the kids race, but I think the 5K will be too late at night for him (and me, if the half is at 5:45!). He's just as excited as I am! He actually went out with me on my long run Sunday on an outdoor track. He alternated between running and riding his bike and completed the 3 miles. I'm so proud of him!
Michael and my niece did the 1 mile race princess weekend, and it was so much fun. It really made them a part of the race weekend. They finished in 11 minutes, and were so proud of themselves. Plus it wasn't too long so they weren't exhausted to go to a park. Ds and I did a 5k together thanksgiving, and he did fine, but it was early in the am. I'm excited for you all. It will be so much fun.
I hope you enjoyed your day off! I think thin crust pizza with healthy toppings is a perfectly ok dinner. As long as it fits within your points/calorie range. Hope the journaling went well! And beer at LL would make it a lot more fun!
Thanks rose. It's fine and within the calories, but I guess I feel like I should try harder to get away from the processed foods, and make my own, but it's just too easy so I don't. Oh, well, it's always something to make me feel guilty.
. But in my perfect dream world, where I am currently residing, I will do both.

Or I am still delirious from my run yesterday.
I like your dream world. In it, I'm going with you to both also. I am thinking I'd like to check out the january marathon weekend one day too. So I can compare the "women's" race with the coed weekend and join in all the debating threads.
So, I stopped for some on my way to work and decided on a 20 oz. bottle. I believe that is 130 calories. I read the ingredients when I got to work and

. I knew it was high in sugar, but I wasn't expecting so many artificial ingredients.

Then, I drank some. Or should I say, tried to drink some. It's like drinking liquid sugar. Try as I may, I was only able to drink about 8 oz. today. My doctor didn't say how much I needed to drink of it, but for some reason, I think she meant more than that. I will try again tomorrow. I'm not thrilled about drinking 5 points in Gatorade, but I wasn't nearly as lightheaded today, so it seems like I don't have much of a choice. I will stop again tomorrow for another bottle-maybe a different flavor-and see how the day goes.
I hope the G2 works better, and if not, you're able to find something that helps you feel better. Hang in there.
Hi Kathy,
It was gorgeous out that weekend. We managed to go for a walk Fri, Sat and Sunday that weekend and Fri and Sat this weekend. Sunday I went to Kittery with my mother and Dylan and it was actually 67 up there.
I saw you walking last week, as you can guess it was April 14th so I was running late, but saw you

We'll have to walk together soon. What do your Friday, Saturday or Sunday mornings look like? Do you work on the weekends?
Yay for tax season being over!!! I would love to get together and walk some day. I should have michael's baseball schedule soon, and then we can make a plan. I don't work weekends, but a couple days a month do call, so I can still usually walk. We go down john george park a lot, so michael walks with me or plays while I walk/run. I think I have a short friday coming up too.
Now Kathy, I know I am tired of paying for daycare but I dont think nick is ready to start a new job at the age of 4.

Im sure you meant dh...just joking with ya. I wrote more on the princess thread but his first two days were ok. Nick is doing well in his new PreK class too.

Now if you have a few extra grand lying around I can hook you up for an event where ds can get out there, and maybe become famous. Glad nick is doing well.
"are you kidding? that is skinny!" well, for me it is! i guess she's used to seeing these park avenue rich women who weigh like 100 lbs even with all their bling on.

135 is soooo skinny!! YOu are starting this pregnancy off so healthy and fit. I weighed 135 once, right after high school. I also remember going to the doctor the next year and being 140, and him telling me to watch it. And my scoffing thinking what is he talking about. OMG, don't I wish I listened now.

Here is a short article on Healthy Fats from Mayo Clinic. Do you regularly incorporate Healthy Fats in your diet? If so, which ones?
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/fat/NU00262
I don't regularly, but use olive oil whenever I use oil with cooking. I know i should get them in daily, but it doesn't always work out.
I'm okay being her "sounding board" but I don't like being her "punching bag" (for lack of a better term).
P
I like this. Hope the rest of your week goes smoothly. When I see myself some days with pms, I think thank goodness I have a boy. Hang in there. Glad you scored a discout on you car. Trip is coming!!!
So glad to hear all is going well for Caleb. I love the picture, you are one beaming, proud grandpa. They are just beautiful. So fun having them so close in age.
At Andrew's awards banquet last night, I had salad greens with balsamic vinegar (avoided all the dressings), a piece of lightly breaded chicken breast, a taste of roast beef and some green beans. No mashed potatoes. No brownies. No huge sugar, chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin cookies.
Then, what did I do? I went home and stood at the kitchen island and ate anything I could reach - lite hummus and pita chips, low fat chips, fat free pretzels, 2 oreos. How ridiculous is that? 2 nights in a row!!!!

Then I went upstairs and exercised for 30 minutes. It was a stupidly stressful night and I was making myself feel better. I need to re-read that article on emotional eating. I know it is going to be a huge problem for me over the next couple of months.

Hang in there Cam. It's all about choices, and you did so well out, and really coming home and eating all that you ate was not nearly as bad as if you had started at the outing, and then continued to home. And look at what you binged on. Not too bad, really. Hang in there. And you journalled it all. I liked roses advice, just keep posting, trying, never give up.
Rose - It peeves me that anyone said something here that upset you. These endurance races are NOT about doing what someone else thinks you should do. They are about testing yourself, your limits and doing it in the best possible way so that you stay healthy and happy. I am SOOOO happy that you and Mike run together. You are very fortunate to enjoy each other's company and for each of you to put aside any ego elements that might make you want to go it alone. I think it is awesome that Mike was your dromedary.

I love the man and haven't even met him. Those who care about you are not going to criticize how or when or with whom you do a race. They are going to be so outrageously proud of you and happy for you for your accomplishments. (This is Cam stepping forward to be the first to say how proud of you I am and how happy I am for you
You said this so well, and I completely agree.
DS had his board of review and he is now a Star Scout. He only has Life and Eagle to go. I am so proud of him.:
Sounds like you had a fabulous day, and I am so happy for ds and his award. It's so nice to see him succeed. So happy you're feeling so fit, even if the weight doesn't come off as quickly as we'd like, we are moving more, and doing our bodies good.
Totally out of control with the eating lately, and not making many workouts, either. All I need to do is read one of
Cam's posts, and I realize I need to just "suck it up, Buttercup", because I could have much more on my plate! Maria
So good to see you back here. You could join our little journalling challenge. We were going for 2 weeks, which is this friday, but I'd love to continue longer after easter.
On a positive note the Atkins diet is going well and I reached Ketosis this morning. I was down 1.6 lbs this morning. I have been feeling really full so not craving carbs at all

congrats on the loss!!
So on the 29th I am going to have it Manipulated. They put me under and force it to move breaking up the scar tissue then I do PT.
I am glad it is not "surgery" but not looking forward to this either.

I hope it all goes well for you.
Hi all!
I probably will have a big gain this week as with having everyone home and cleaning and not exercising I'm just not doing well. I love having everyone home but it totally messes me up! We ate out for supper! I had a drink as Brian and I wanted to try this AppleBerry Martini! It was ok. I had some cucumber salad and 1 1/2 chipotle deviled eggs and a burger and fries. We haven't been to this restaurant in a while and I was hungry.
It's tough when the routine is all mixed up. Next week will be better.
A big congrats to all our top losers, maintainers, and all of us still here!!
Have a great day!!!
