Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

I'll be doing the results at 2pm today when I get home from work. I have 2 clients today so I will do the results as soon as I get home!

I've had a few more come in since last night's deadline so I will be accepting those as well as any that come in between now and 2pm!

Your friendly neighborhood weightkeeper!

(I don't know why I'm acting so silly today!)

TTFN :tigger:

Rose - YAY! for seeing improvements in your leg. I hope the weather is perfect for an outside run tomorrow and that your leg is feeling even stronger by then.

Deb - Do you start your new job Thursday? I am thinking of you and sending lots of positive vibes your way.

Nancy - Congrats on the little one! It must be so exciting to have heard baby's heartbeat. Sometimes it is hard to believe that phase of my life is so far behind me. I hope you don't mind me living vicariously and enjoying your updates on your progress. :cutie:

Shawn - it is so wonderful to see you around here. Wow! on the short notice for moving back here a year early. I hope you can get everything coordinated easily. Have fun in London!

. . . I am Happy because for 2 reasons.

Reason 1: I have recently started a new phase of my life. The huge, global law firm that I have worked for as a graphic designer for the past 8 years has dissolved. As of March 31st, they no longer exist. I am taking this opportunity to change the course of my life. Instead of getting a job at another law firm or legal consulting firm, I have decided to stay at home with my little girls. This has been a very liberating/terrifying decision. I know it will be difficult, but I am excited to get to spend time with my daughters. I am very happy with my choice and am looking forward to the challenges and joys it will bring.

Reason 2: It is a fantastic feeling to put on pants and they are too big. I have not had to buy new clothes because I have lost weight in a very very very long time. And I actually look forward to that shopping trip.

Those are the reasons that I am Happy this morning.

Matt - Congratulations!! I am so happy for you that you have the opportunity to make this huge change in your life. Will you have the opportunity to do some free-lance work if you want, from home? BTW, which firm? You are so courageous and it is so generous of you to make this decision which will be so beneficial to your daughters. I hope you love every moment of this new adventure. :cloud9:

QOTD -- Unfortunately, today, I'd have to say "Sneezy" -- my allergies are so bad that I've told everyone in my office they should just say "God Bless You" to me first thing in the morning and they get a pass for the rest of the day. LOL!

On a brighter note -- I went to the Y last night and did a 30+ minute session on the treadmill. I did intervals of walk 4/jog 1. It ended up including 5 1-minute jogging intervals (very slow) and one 2 minute jogging interval. I cannot believe how much I have lost but my knee doesn't hurt excessively today from the workout. The real problem is that it doesn't bend right and you need it to do that when you run - I can't keep it in that constantly somewhat bent position that you need to run smoothly, so I have a very strange gait. And that kind of hurts my hip. But I am grateful that I worked up the courage to give it a try and that I was able to do the entire 30 minutes.

I also did lots of work on the leg press and realized I have lost a lot of quad strength - 3 sets of 10 reps at 140 lbs for both legs and 3 sets of 10 reps at 80 pounds for my left (bad) leg. I am looking forward to watching it improve.

Hello everyone! I have been busy spring cleaning/rearranging furniture for a week, so I have had a hard time getting caught up on the thread, but I am now.
Cam, glad to hear the knee is improving. My DD had a donor tendon implanted in June to replace her meniscus that wasn't holding her knee-cap in place properly; I still cringe (inside) everytime she runs or pivots, but I am thankful there was something they could do to help her.
QOTD: I think I would be Grumpy today (ok, this week), but I'm striving for Happy! I feel like I'm going to struggle just to maintain this week, the scale is all over the place!!! Last week I finally made it to 139 :cool1: - but it's been back up over 140 again - hopefully in another week (or two), I will be out of the 140's for good!!! Have a great day!

Finally Back to normal here :)

Spent all last week on a WDW vacation (Family in town) then had internet issues due to the nasty storms so finally back to normal here-

Missed everyone especially when the battles ensued over my lack of eating when my family was here over how I was trying to show them up and embarrass them due to me not eating a 2-3 course meal (x 3 a day) and 3-4 snacks between the meals... I did end up eating more than I wanted but it kept the battles at bay :(

Soo glad to be back to my routines and hopefully the scale will start being my friend and not my foe again :)

Biggest Loser 11 Spring Challenge Week 13!
This week’s group loss is 20.8 lbs

Total group weight loss for both teams so far 1158.7 pounds! WOW!!!!! (Doesn’t add up right as we had a lot of late weigh ins last week that were not included on last week’s results.)

AWESOME!

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet. (btw if its been more than 1 week between weigh-ins, then the % loss is divided by the number of weeks, to keep everybody on the same basis)

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of the week? This time I’ve done a TOP 10 LIST ! That criteria may change from week to week. Hey I'm in charge here and I get paid nothin' to do this so you better take what you can get! (and if there’s something you want to know, just ask me!)

The WISH Biggest Loser 11 Spring Challenge Week 13 Superstars!!

Wow the thread really did move fast! To recap from the last time I was here, I ended up going to Disneyland after the seminar. It was too hot so I just walked around, did a little shopping, and went home. Then on Sunday I went to a bridal show at the Disneyland hotel. It was ok, but they didn’t have a lot of vendors. It just made me a little sad that I wont be having my wedding there. We then went to Disneyland afterwards to have dinner. I gotta say, the new menus they have put into place are definitely an improvement. Tonight I have another bridal show to attend to see a live performance of a band we are thinking of booking. Then I have another bridal show this Sunday. Lets just say its crunch time in deciding all this wedding stuff. We are six and a half months away from the wedding. I really want to lose these last five pounds but I haven’t been disciplined, to an extent. Im disciplined throughout the day when Im not around DF, but when my DF has all this food around me, like cupcakes, its hard to resist. I know I have to ignore the food he has around me. But that’s just one part. He says he wants to lose weight for the wedding, but hasn’t done one thing about it. So Im upset because he tempts me with bad for me food and upset because he’s not doing anything to get healthier. Ok sorry for the rant.

QOTD- Sneezy…I was cleaning the yard yesterday and it kicked up my allergies…ugh

Dona- how exciting that you are close to retirement. I definitely understand the whole commuting thing. Living near Los Angeles, you have to live close to where you work, etc. to not go insane.

Sue- the crème brule that you described sounds like my kind of desert:thumbsup2

Nancy- thank you for the inspiring words. I am now being proactive and setting up hiking dates with various people, but still plan on going with or without them. I’m happy your dr. visit went well. I’m glad you decided to stay around.

P- I had to laugh out loud when you thought I hula hooped while hiking. That would definitely be hard to do!

Tracey- I like how you have created “clothing” challenges for yourself. Sometimes we get wrapped into numbers, but the feeling you get by wearing those key pieces of clothing is priceless.

HappyMatt- congratulations on your new phase in life.

Rose- I’m glad you were able to find what is working for you to help resolve any tummy issues. I can relate to what its like to have tummy issues and it is truly freeing once you have a way to control it.

Cam- that’s great you were able to do 30 minutes!

Congratulations to all the LOSERS!!!! Woohoo! And even more congratulations to everyone who keeps "showing up", even when it is tough and the scale is not going in the right direction. I know that personally, I NEED the posts by those who are not losing just as much as the posts of those who are succeeding. We are all in this for the long haul. :grouphug:

BTW, I am SOOO relieved to be on a losing trend again and am really hoping to be a loser again this week. ;) Thank you, so much, everyone for the support and encouragement I find here, even when I am lurking and not posting much. I am really excited to be our coach starting Friday.

Hi all! Hope you're having a good day.

Not a lot going on over here today. I'm working on my water and in about 20 minutes I'll be headed to the gym for my hour walk on the treadmill :headache: I'll be glad when it's over.

Tonight we're having pasta primavera for dinner, it's a new vegetarian recipe I found with smoked gouda, so I'm excited to try it. DH, a meat-eater, isn't so much but he's a good sport and will eat anything I make. I'm barely a meat eater, I tend to prefer hamburgers and hot dogs, otherwise I think I could live on salad all my life :rotfl:

I found Toy Story 3 on Netflix last night after DS went to bed, so we might watch that tonight after dinner. We actually have it on DVD, but DS has worn it out...I didn't even know DVDs could wear out :rotfl:

Have a great evening!

Nicole :flower3:

Great job to all the losers and the maintainers...:cool1:

so far today so good, but then again it's my first day

had classroom observations this am (working on my master's in education) and instead of hitting up a drive through for breakfast i brought a banana (80cal), a granola bar ( 80cal) and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich ( 330 calories) and made that last for breakfast and lunch

a snack of some hummus (40cal) and half a naan (190) so I am doing a-ok

the hardest time for me is when I get home or am home alone while hubby works nights...:scared1:

Jeannette - Enjoy the planning!! I can't believe your wedding is coming up so quickly!! How excited you must be! I hope you love the band!

Nicole - Your dinner sounds delicious! Oh, if we were watching TS3 tonight, I'd have to stop at Walgreen's on the way home for a new box of kleenex. Enjoy!

Amy - Great job, planning your food and taking it with you. Awesome start!! I hope tonight goes well. Stay strong. All you need is ONE on-plan day and then another and another. Just string them together one at a time. :)

When I first started my journey, I laid out a pair of red jeans that I wanted to wear again. I put them on every morning until, FINALLY, they fit! I then pulled out another pair of pants that I wanted to wear and just focused on those until they fit. I kept this up! At Christmas I FINALLY got into the dress from our rehearsal dinner 13 years ago! It felt great to wear it! That was 50 pounds ago!!

It's still a struggle especially on weekends for me! I'm trying to get in at least a 2 mile workout everyday. Hoping to start walking with my neighbor again a few mornings a week by the end of the month and now I get a weekly walk with Redwalker. I may be able to come home an hour early today so I will do a 3, 4, or 5 mile workout then before the kids get home and I plan on doing 2 miles on the elliptical tonight as well!

TTFN :tigger:
Thanks for sharing this Tracey. I think it really helps to know that everyone has their days that they struggle a little, but that there are also victories to celebrate as well.:goodvibes

good morning everyone! i didn't log on last night and decided to just relax and watch tv after DS went to bed. the doctor's visit went well! i had an u/s and we got to see and hear the heartbeat. i'm measuring exactly what i thought i would be (6 weeks) and my due date is november 25th. oh boy! here we go! t

I really enjoy reading all of your posts, Rose. You are very inspirational to all of us. Sure, you're dealing with knee issues and gluten/belly issues but you are very honest with us about your struggles and you are overcoming them with grace. we are all working on weight loss and it's great to use you as an example. for instance, when i get down and out and stressed, i want to turn to food. but knowing that you too have up and down days and are still successful in your weight loss/maintenance in spite of those down days is a real inspiration! thank you :)
A thanksgiving baby! How exciting! And by the time the weather is warmed up he/she will be big enough to be out and about without worrying too much.:goodvibes

Thanks for saying this Nancy. I have been struggling so much mentally, and it's nice to know that I am at least holding it together a little. I think sometimes it just helps to type it all out--though a lot of times I delete what I typed cause I want to be more positive about things.:goodvibes See, you all are helping me with my attitude.

oh by the way, i made lisa's chile verde pork last night (see the BL recipe thread) and it was a total winner. served it on whole wheat tortillas (yeah, ok with cheese and sour cream but not alot) and it was great!! DH is taking some for lunch today!
Good to know folks are using the recipe thread!

Rose I love the way that you always make lemons out of lemonade. You're feeling yucky from the gluten, but you're making the most of it by shedding a few lbs. You always find the good in the situation :thumbsup2
Thank you too, Deb.:goodvibes I think of all of us, you exemplify how to handle what life throws at you. You are one of the busiest Mom's I know, but you always seem to find the time to help out if someone needs it. And three boys--my one is driving me a little insane this week!:goodvibes

Today I feel like I am Happy. I have a lot to do today so later on I might be wishing there was a dwarf called "Crazy" ;)

Have a great day all!
I hope the Crazy dwarf didn't visit today, Lisa!

Hang in there Rose! My Dr is now convinced I do not have a gluten allergy but am a carrier of the genes for the allergy (which is why I have only mild symptoms and not full blown symptoms). Couple this with a wacky almond allergy...I should just have a biscotti and call it a day
So, is he sure that if you are carrier that you will not develop celiac? I think the scariest thing about all this, is that by the time you have serious symptoms you have done a ton of damage to your body including developing a host of other autoimmune disorders.

You're making me smile today, Tracey!:)

QOTD Tuesday 4/5/11 Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, It's Off to Lose Weight We Go! (recycling from the last BL Challenge -- it's good for the environment!) If you were one of the seven dwarfs, which one would you be today -- Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy, Doc, Sneezy, Bashful or Dopey?

Not Sleepy (thanks to the 2 cups of coffee I just drank).

I would have to go with Happy.

Those are the reasons that I am Happy this morning.
Matt-that's really exciting! And congrats on needing new clothes!:goodvibes

Woohoo for all that exercise Cam! I am really happy for you.:goodvibes Can you do squats or lunges? I can't do either one right now, but I have three other exercises that I have to do to strengthen my gluteus medius (I think that's the muscle) which when it's weak can cause problems with your itb. Just throwing that out there cause I'd hate to see you develop another annoying knee problem.

I hope those 140s are gone soon!

Soo glad to be back to my routines and hopefully the scale will start being my friend and not my foe again :)

Sorry about the family stuff. It's hard when your family thinks food is love or that you think you are doing something insulting to them by not eating. Hopefully this is not something you will have to deal with much, but just try to be as strong as you can and make the best choices that you can.

Just throwing that out there cause I'd hate to see you develop another annoying knee problem.

Thank you so much, Rose! No, squats and lunges and kneeling are so extraordinarily painful or, sometimes, impossible to do. It is very discouraging. And I can feel the tendon (or ligament? I can never remember which) sliding across my knee if I bend it when it is not perfectly aligned. It makes the most awful clicking sound. It's pretty depressing. But I'm not going to think about what I can't do right now. I'll take improvement any way I can get it, as quickly or slowly as it takes. As long as I am improving I will remind myself to feel gratitude and perseverance. Being grateful I can walk doesn't mean I shouldn't aspire to do more than that, right? :cloud9: Someday, I even hope to be able to do this --> :yay: again and a lot more of this --> :cool1: :)

You have all been great! But this thread may be going too fast for me. I think that I am going to have to bough out. I only am able to check back once ever day or two. So I may have bit off more than I can chew.

No need to bough out, skimming is perfectly fine. I'm in the middle of tax season and hop on when I can. Usually it's only once or twice a week, but it's good to read up and keep motivated :goodvibes

Hi all,

I had two chicken salad roll ups for supper. I should be fine with the calories as I believe I was under 600 for the day up until then. I'm still working on my water and am headed down to do the elliptical at 8. I'm sending Brian to pick up the girls at dancing. Of course he didn't think I was serious when I first said it! I need a night off from the driving around. I have to work Thursday night so he can do the running around tonight.

Anyone up for my Tuesday night challenge? 2-3 miles depending on how the first 2 go.

I have the day off tomorrow so I will do some work around here in the morning until Redwalker and Luna get here for our morning walk. I think we'll do some hills in the morning!

I ordered Ash's sewing machine this afternoon. It should be in next week. I renewed my insurance for massage this afternoon. Girls are going to get a jump start on dancing the month of August by taking a 4 week Irish step class. I also may sign them up for a week of tennis if they are interested. It's an evening class so it will be a good end to their day.

Need to clean up a bit before heading down for BL! Have a great night!

I skim more than anything else!!!! Some days I have more time than other days to read. I rarely do multi-quotes as I have trouble keeping up with everything! It will be slowing down as we get towards the end. Some of us post more than others do. Read when you can.

I don't have enough time some days to reply to QOTDs so just do what you can!!!! We don't keep track!

I hope you stick around! It is overwhelming some days but just have fun!

TTFN :tigger:

Okay.... here is your compliment.......

CC..... I am proud that even when you are having food issues, or medical issues, or whatever, that you continue to come on here, chat with us, support us with the HH, and talk. We all love you for that!! .................P

I can't begin to tell you how much that meant to me. I really needed that tonight. :)

Evening All!

Well, my answer to the QOTD is Grumpy and that's pretty much all I have to say about that. My med check went well and I am going off of a med. I may or may not need to replace it with something else. It depends on how things go with the other one we added. I can't even remember what meds I've taken for the day anymore. I guess I'm a bit Dopey too. :rotfl2:

Hope everyone has a great, OP day tomorrow! It was nice to read your compliments.

Pamper Week, Wednesday

1. Sip some tea.
2. Spend some extra time showering or take a bath.

Evening Teams!

I hope everyone's day went well. I've lost my train of thought so will be back on a few when I can relocate it :lmao:.

Did 2.5 miles on the elliptical, just over 800 calories according to my counter. That should X out dinner:) My co-worker likes to call me when I'm on the elliptical so I ended up talking to her for 20 minutes and just kept going!

I'm having my water and also had a clementine when I finished. Gotta pick up some groceries tomorrow afternoon after Izzie's dentist appt.

Going to work on cleaning the family room tomorrow morning while I wait for Redwalker. Of course, I still haven't finished the living room and dining room but I may be able to move some stuff downstairs if I get the family room done.

Going to get up and do the 2 mile WATP in the morning and then walk 3-4 with Redwalker.

Going to finish watching BL now and just relax.
