Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

HI all!

Got up and did my 2 mile WATP! Hanging out waiting for Redwalker and Luna so we can walk for a bit!

Need to make my shake soon!

Steak tips on the grill tonight for supper! Brian has been dying to have some grilled steaks and so am I! I will be good all day so I can have that and enjoy it!

Cold here this morning though the sun is warming things up! Expecting some nasty weather tomorrow night and Friday! Unsure how much rain/snow we're going to get yet! The weathermen are all confused too!

Time to make my shake so I'm ready when Red gets here!

TTFN :tigger:

We have had a strange day here {grumpy DH (bad day), unstocked shelves, and long lines at the grocery store - had to substitute the stuff they were out of! DD ran over my heel with the cart (she was so upset), and when I got out to the vehicle I cracked my head on the "handle to help you pull yourself in" (is that the official name of that piece of equipment?) Anyhow, I tried to buy a Leslie Sansone DVD so I would start exercising, (was excited to start 1st thing tomorrow) but when we got home and put stuff away - the DVD was no where to be found. A call to the store assures us it was left behind, but now my motivation is gone. DD1 opened the cupboard on DD2's face, leaving a nasty red mark on her nose! DH just found out that a shipment he needed by Wed. will not be here until April 18th!} :sad2:
Anyhow, I was OP today, and it is almost bedtime (whew!) Tomorrow we will laugh about it all! Have a great night everyone!

Isn't it funny how these days happen...when the weird stuff just keeps piling on top of itself? Glad you were able to put that one behind you!

QOTD 3/29/11 Tuesday
Have you ever used a personal trainer or considered signing up for one?

I haven't and while a part of me would love to try it, I don't see myself actually doing it. As someone else mentioned, I consider my trainers to be Bob and Jillian on DVD and the trainers that live in my wii fit.

Hopefully she can up the offer by at least a dollar per hour and the insurance doesn't cost too much. she said she'd get back to me by Thursday. Hopefully I'll know better what's going on in the other 2 positions by then :goodvibes

At least I feel like things are finally looking up.

I hope you get good news! Keep us posted.

QOTD-Tuesday

The first time I ever had a trainer was at a gym I belonged to years ago and I was actually fit and thin at that time. I was probably 21 or 22 yrs old. I had my first appt. We did the weights and some weight + cardio. He worked me so hard that I was nauseous and towards the end he wanted me to step up on a stepper and lift the dumbells above my head at the same time. I went to do it and my legs gave out and I collapsed to the floor. (let me mention I am pretty tough and will finish and do anything I am asked) I told him I really didnt feel well and can you believe he made me finish.

 THIS is why I'm reluctant to try a trainer...it would be just my luck to have an experience just like this one! Glad you lived to tell the story!

My sweet little kitty isn't quite that today, more like devil. I was walking by the couch and noticed her laying in the corner curled up looking so cute. So I stopped to pet her and she wraps her paws around my arm and proceeds to bite super hard into my forearm! Thank God I had a long sleeve shirt on! Brat!

This made me laugh...funny how the fur babies can be so sweet one minute and crazy the next!

We had a good friend, who has passed away now, who always said, "The only thing that matters is your 'guys', you can replace stuff - but not 'guys'," (referring to family). We always quote him when small troubles start to get us down. I appreciated the reminder from RemembertheMagic98 today, everyone hug your "guys" (or gals) and tell them you love them!!!

Thanks both of you for the reminder to put things into perspective! Even when they're driving us nuts, we have to hugs our peeps and be grateful for them!

:wave2: Just checking in to say hi! I am not going to be able to keep up for the next almost 2 weeks. We leave Thursday and I have so much to do I need to stay off the computer. I don't know how much time I will have when I am gone. The hotels have internet so I will try to at least come by and say hi and let you know if I am being good or have just abandoned my healthy eating completely during my trip. :rolleyes1

Remind us, where are you headed? Hope you have a great trip!

We may get a big snowstorm on Friday:scared1: Not happy about that but I will be prepared.

Enough with the wintery weather! Sorry to hear you still have some in your forecast. Doesn't this seem like it's been the longest winter ever?!

I didn't gain any weight while at Disney!!

Congrats! Good Job!

...We get to Magic Kingdom and I had to have them reprint my annual pass because I had left it at home . I also had to pick up Candice's theme park ticket. This is where I got a peice of interesting news. Apparently, I had bought her a 5 day ticket and not a 1 day. I'm still needing to look into how and why on earth I did this.

Did you add the no expiration option to her 5 day ticket so she can use it next time?

After lunch we decided to hit Adventure Land and work our way around the park, leaving Tomorrow Land for last. I'm not going to bore you with all the details but I will tell you we finished lunch around 1:15 and by 12:45am the following morning we had rode everything we wanted to ride in the park plus the time allotted for our dinner reservation at Liberty Tree Tavern and the little time I spent shopping getting my Mickey Mouse for the trip.

Sounds like you had a great trip. I'm jealous!

Busy day today. Last calc test before we start to review for the AP exam. It is a difficult topic and I think a number of students will be in for extra help this morning.

I hope your kids do well on their test today. I love hearing that you're giving your students a lot of review time before the AP test. My DH teaches AP Psych and has the same philosophy of pushing a little harder all year to cover the material, then spends a few weeks reviewing, giving cumulative tests and practice tests, etc. Now that we have a DD on the other side of the desk (she's taking 3 AP classes this year) we appreciate it from the parent's perspective as well.

I have a busy day in front of me, but it sounds like I may need to take a break somewhere along the line to run out and pick up a copy of Tangled. We haven't seen it yet (I know...gasp!) but listening to all of you, it sounds like we need to get it!

Hope you all have a great day!

~Lori

QOTD 3/30/11 Wednesday
Let's go back in time! What was your favorite cartoon or tv show when you were a kid?

Mine was Jem and the Holograms.
I never heard of them. I must be much older than you.:lmao:
Mine as a young kid was Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Rogers. I don't have the best memory but I can remember watching Captain Kangaroo while my brother and sister were heading out to school. I then grew to love Nancy Drew Mysteries and the Hardy Boys. I made ds watch a hardy boys episode on netflix a few weeks ago. It was pretty funny, and he actually like it.

I hope to have more time to catch up with everyone later.

Thanks Tracey for ruining my day with the forecast.;) I am so done with winter, but looks like Pamela will be hit hardest. Sorry P.

LindsayOMG, I can imagine you would never go to a personal trainer again after that.

Karen- I am so sorry to hear about your friends brother. So very sad. I am sure it was more comforting for him to hear it from you than the police, but awful no matter how the news is given. Hang in there. Sending prayers your way.

Disneywedding- Your trip sounded wonderful. Impressive not gaining in wdw!!

Nancy- Did they find the snake yet? Be sure to cut yourself some slack for not running. You're body is burning lots of energy building that little person inside. I remember that second trimester tends to bring more energy. Wow, maui sounds beautiful.

LTSJust in case you pop in, Have a magical, fabulous, wonderful vacation!!!!

Hello to everyone I've missed. Off to work. I've been tracking my food 2 days straight, and have my healthy lunch packed.

Have a great day!!!

Hello friends, it is so nice to all be together again and yes Kathy, I did make the move over (finally) - thanks for checking on me!:goodvibes

For those I haven't met yet, my name is Shawn and I turned 50 this year, I have one DS almost 14 and have been married to DH for 16 years. We are currently living in Germany while DH works an ex-pat contract for his parent company. I was inspired to lose weight before I turned 50 and I found the WISH board after my Med cruise in August 2010. I've lost close to 30 pounds so far but have not been as dedicated lately. I keep waffling between 27 pounds lost and 29 pounds lost:rolleyes1 but hope to get over the hump soon. I have made exercise and water drinking a daily habit but my eating could use some improvement. I'm happy with the slow progress I've made and like many others here, I vow to "never quit".

Life has been very hectic for us lately and this will just have to be a quick post. I'm sorry I don't have time to respond to everyone. I have talked to you here in my head as I read your post however:laughing: Once life slows down some here I look forward to posting daily again. It's a great motivator to me.

Got DS on the plane this morning for his 10 day exchange program in Spain. He will fly back home the night of his 14th birthday April 8th. I need to have a cool poster made when we go pick him up at the airport. I am leaving for a 4 day trip to Poland early tomorrow morning so DH will be alone for a few days, I think it will be a nice treat for him. Then next week, I am going with some of my fashionista girlfriends for a quick 2 day trip to London. I hope I fit in with my denim and danskos;) We also just found out last week that we may have to return home to the US THIS Summer instead of NEXT which is causing us (ME) major stress and turmoil. Nothing is official yet but it is pretty certain and we can't make it public until May. There's a lot of other shake-ups at the company. Many decisions to be made, looking for housing, renting or buying, getting DS registered for HS, etc etc. A huge disappointment this week when our friends booked a Baltic cruise for August that we were also going to go on but can't now.

Congrats to all the biggest losers this week and esp to KristiMc. Those were some awesome percentages:yay: I can rarely get over .5 percent per week but hey, I'll take it.

Nice to meet you all and to reconnect with old friends and soon I hope to posting more regularly.

Have a great day all:wizard:

Shawnprincess:

Lindsay--that was a crazy story with the trainer!

Kathy--I loved Captain Kangaroo, too! And Romper Room--though they rarely said my name. And I loved Scooby Doo.:goodvibes Great job on tracking for two days!

Shawn--have fun on your trips!:goodvibes

I survived the dentist.:goodvibes It was sooooo much better. My ptsd stuff really flares up at the dentist. I usually spend the entire time on the verge of a massive panic attack. She skipped the ephinephrine because of my weird heart beat and I think that really helped with my anxiety.:goodvibes And the gas didn't hurt either.:thumbsup2 What a relief that is over!

It is miserably yucky here today--rain and snow mixed. I hope all you east coasters don't get too much snow later this week.

Enjoy the rest of your day.:goodvibes

Good morning!
Mine was Jem and the Holograms. My mom & I used to watch it every morning before school. A friend of mine bought me a DVD a few years ago with some of the episodes.

I loved Jem but I adored Scooby Doo (the original) as a favorite cartoon. My favorite tv shows ranged from The Dukes of Hazzard to The Love Boat. If my parents were feeling generous I was allowed to stay up and watch Fantasy Island :lovestruc

Things are rolling along today. My students hear from the Ivy League colleges tonight so I may need some tissues tomorrow (both for happiness and sadness) as they report their decisions. I usually have some "emergency chocolate" on my desk for these days but I'm concerned that I will be tempted to snack. Maybe I can go with Hershey kisses...not too damaging for my eating plan :rolleyes1

Off to PT this evening where I hope to find I am getting more mobility in my ankle. I skipped out on spin last night since my shin was still bothering me.

Off to lunch...yes, I will make good choices...even though I know the dining hall has homemade chocolate chip cookies for dessert :headache:

Tuesday QOTD -

I've had a personal trainer since the 1 year anniversary (2009) of Josh and Maddie's death. When they passed away I was 180. After being in the hospital on and off for a month I dropped to 150. Well, then life start looking up and Alan came into my life. This of course changed my mood and my eating habits. I went from being depressed, living in a dark hole, hardly eating anything, sleeping all the time to somewhat going back to the normal me. In a year's time I gained 50 pounds!! YIKES!!

So a few short days before the 1 year anniversary of their death I joined 24 hour fitness. I wasn't going to get a trainer but after explaining to them my physical issues after the accident the guy explained that they had a trainer who had a background in occupational therapy. COOL! Where do I sign? Joel, knows he can push me but he can only push so far. He knows of my limits and recognizes them when he sees them. I've been with him now for over 2 years and I couldn't be happier.

People have said to me, "Kristina, isn't having a personal trainer a waste of money?" Well, to some people it could be but for me it was more of a trying to regain some of my life back and getting out of the shell that I've been in since 2008. I was terrified to do anything because I thought with everything that happened to me that I couldn't do it. Well, Joel has taught me "You can do anything you put your mind to."

I can leg press 230 pounds.
I can walk a mile outside and not stop.
I can ride 2 miles on a stationary bike in 20 minutes
I'm training for the 5K at Disney World in January of next year

If you would of told me 3 years ago that I'd be doing these things I would of laughed.

We were trying to eliminate certain bills at the end of the year. Alan joked "Oh let's cancel your gym membership." I laughed at him and said, 'Are you kidding me? All of the money I've spent on personal training sessions? I consider Joel an investment toward my health. No, I'm not canceling my gym membership."

Good morning!

QOTD 3/30/11 Wednesday
Let's go back in time! What was your favorite cartoon or tv show when you were a kid?

Mine was Jem and the Holograms. My mom & I used to watch it every morning before school. A friend of mine bought me a DVD a few years ago with some of the episodes.

I have a short day at work today then it's grocery shopping finally. I am going to try one of the Hungry Girl Recipes for dinner tonight- so low mein with chicken. And maybe one of the cupcake recipes!

My favorite cartoon was the Flintstone's.

I finally have Great news to report. I am going to accept the job offer. HR called today and offered $1/hr more and emailed me the insurance details. It is SO much better than what we can get through DH's work. Some aspects are even better than at my last job. It is an HMO, but all of our current providers are in network and there is no deductible or out of pocket :cool1: It will cost $100/week which is more than we were paying at my old job, but no deductible should make up for it quickly. They also give bonuses based on the companies profitability (an oil company :rolleyes1) That has proven to be $5000-$6000 for last year's employees. I cannot see a down side. I am so happy, relieved, excited... I will start next Thursday. Insurance won't kick in until May 1st so I will postpone Hunter's MRI until after the new insurance kicks in.

:yay:Deb that is great. I am so happy for you and really happy it is working out financially too.:yay:

not alot of time for replies but wanted to say hello.

QOTD- I had lots of favorites. rainbow bright, shirt tales, smurfs, and care bears that was probably up to about 6-8 years of age. Then it was The Jetsons, Alf, Saved by the bell, oh and WWF wrestling:rolleyes1

Let me just say they dont make shows like they use to.

I took another night off last night from the computer. I feel more caught up on rest and relaxation so that is a good thing. Otherwise nothing new to report. Same stuff a different day around here, and the weather is still cold and dreary with snow in the forecast.

did you get to watch Tangled?

We did! Right after dinner we turned the lights out and had a movie night, it was great! :thumbsup2 DH was mumbling a little that it was a girl movie  but DS didn't seem to mind, he LOVED the horse, Maximus :) So DS went to bed late last night which turned into a heck of a morning, but worth it, in my opinion, because we had that family time that we don't always get on a busy weekday.

I finally have Great news to report. I am going to accept the job offer. It is SO much better than what we can get through DH's work.

That is fantastic! :yay: :woohoo: I'm glad the details worked out in your favor, I bet it feels great! :thumbsup2

*********************

There's not much going on over here today. Went for my hour walk yesterday in the gym, came home sweating like crazy, it was great! :woohoo: Who knew I'd be so excited about sweating

Today I got in my 52 minuted speed workout/run, it just went, wasn't great or anything, but now it's just done  Not that anyone cares, but you know I've been watching House during my runs at the gym and I think I'm really starting to get into that show. I've never really been interested in it because his character didn't really rub me the right way, but I think he's starting to grow on me :lmao:

Had lean cuisine with a salad, a cup of mandarin oranges, and working on my water. Tonight we're having chef salad for dinner and I'll be parking it in front of the tv because The Middle and Modern Family come on tonight.....so as much as I hate Wednesdays because of my speed workouts (I hate'em!), hump day always ends on positive note :thumbsup2

Have a great day everyone!

Nicole:upsidedow

I can tell that I am going to have a tough time keeping up with this thread. It took me a big portion of my lunch to read all the posts since yesterday. So far so good, this week. I need to get on the ball more with exercising. I did an hour workout tape with weights Monday and walked about 40 minutes yesterday during lunch. But today I just laid around in bed and couldn't seem to get up the energy to workout or run. I just need to be sure to get up and going tomorrow. If I skip two days in a row, I have a tough time getting back in the saddle.

QOTD Tuesday
I did have a personal trainer years ago. But finances just don't allow it right now. I do belong to a great gym. Working at the church we get a free membership. But the gym is not that close to my house and can be a pain to get there on the weekdays. So I use a lot of workout DVD's (Did I tell you I love stepping?), my treadmill, my Total Gym, and workout bands and dumbells. DH and I do usually hit the gym on Sundays after church. We usually run the track and then take a dip in the pool. I can't wait till summer. Our gym has 1 indoor pool and 3 outdoor pools. I feel kind of like I am on vacation on Sunday afternoons during the summer.

QOTD Wednesday
Cartoon - Bugs Bunny
TV Sitcom - Gilligan's Island

QOTD 3/30/11 Wednesday
Let's go back in time! What was your favorite cartoon or tv show when you were a kid?

Cartoon - Flinestones
TV Sitcom - Full House

Hi everyone! It has been a very stressful week. At this rate I should just nail the doors to the pantry closed with a big sign that syas "KEEP OUT". But do I? Sadly, nooooooo....

Congrats to all the biggest losers!!!:cool1::banana:

Time to get writing. As you can see, it's been a while since I have had a chance to sit down and post. This is gonna take me a while. :goodvibes

I agree I can not wait for spring or even summer weather would be fine at this point. I have been slacking on my outside runs it is much harder to get out in the cold now that princess is over. We are having 30-40 degree weather but it looks like next thur so far it is in the 60's so hopefully it will warm up and then stay there.

I would just love for the weather to warm up around here. It was so cold out this morning. It looks like it will be in the low 50's by the wkend and then a gradually warm up to 60 by next thur. I stalk the weather channel in hopes to see high numbers.:lmao:
Weather guys are predicting a freaking nor'easter for Thursday night/Friday morning. Seriously??! Like we need another 7 -8 inches of snow? I had an appointment tomorrow to have my snow tires taken off my car. I guess that's one appointment I had better cancel!!

Trainer QOTD: Yes, and loved every minute of it. There is something about someone standing over and working with me that pushes me farther than I ever would have pushed myself.
Right now I pay for an extra class at the Y that meets at 5AM - 6AM 3x a week. It 's a boot camp style class. It's not one-on-one with a trainer but it's pretty great. It pushes me and doesn't cost as much as personal training.

Lindsay, I am so sorry about your stupid trainer.

QOTD 3/25/11 Saturday
Let's talk about the dreaded F words- Fast Food! How do you cope with dinner on the run, do you have a favorite not so bad for you place to go or a favorite lower calorie choice at the not so good for you place? Do you try to avoid these places altogether?
When I KNOW that we will be going to a FF place, I try to jump on the internet to search out the nutritional information for what I "think" I would like to order. Then I decide if that is a good choice for me and search out other healthier optiions. The first time I did this and realized how many calories/fat/sodium are in a chipotle chicken sandwich at Panera I almost fainted!!:scared1:

Okay first things first and most imporantly:

I didn't gain any weight while at Disney!!

Wow - sad to say, that's a sentence I've never been able to say!!

a hike sounds nice. i haven't been on a good hike in a while. i need to drive to CT or something to be able to hike - city streets here don't really count. sounds fun!

Hmmm...CT sounds like a better choice than the Bronx zoo right now. Where the heck is that cobra????!

i hope everyone has a great day. i STILL haven't gotten out for a run. it's been almost 2 weeks now :( it's been cold and i just don't have the motivation to be cold and run. it's not like i have a race to train for! i had a sitter and everything yesterday. but i sent her and DS to the park and i did the elliptical (we have one in our guest room) for 30 minutes. i've been having some stomach issues anyway to i wanted to be close to the bathroom just in case anyway. No run here yet either. Hopefully tomorrow...

we are leaving in just over a month for maui! my original goal was to be 5 lbs less by the time we left and maybe even squeeze into a two piece bathing suit for the trip! instead i bought some sensible full coverage tankinis. oh well. Have a great time in Hawaii!! I'm still working my way to a full coverage tankini!! :lmao:

Good morning!

Mine was Jem and the Holograms. My mom & I used to watch it every morning before school. A friend of mine bought me a DVD a few years ago with some of the episodes.

I must be too old to have seen this too! LOL.
Saturday "kid" show: Land Of The Lost
prime time show: Happy Days. LoveBoat

Got DS on the plane this morning for his 10 day exchange program in Spain. He will fly back home the night of his 14th birthday April 8th. All of the money I've spent on personal training sessions? I consider Joel an investment toward my health. No, I'm not canceling my gym membership."
Yay to you!!!

I finally have Great news to report.
Congratulations on the new job!!!:cool1::cool1:

As for me, I've really been struggling to (1) get my runs in and (2) to stop grazing. As for the grazing, I do great in the morning and at work but just seem to lose all thought processes when I get home from work. I am going to start posting post-it notes all around the house. Seriously. And my schedule has been crazy at work. I usually run at lunch time and lately have not been able to get out of the office. :confused3 I'm glad I have my morning sessions at the Y but know that I need to make my running a bigger priority....

We're off to DD11's basketball banquet tonight. Tomorrow night is Parent teacher conferences at both the high school and the middle school (hmmm..what brainiac planned both for the same time??!). So, yup, I expect to be MIA for a bit!!

BTW, did I miss Connie's post about WIN numbers? I only went back about 4 pages....

Have a great night all!!
Jude:flower3:

And I thought the team mickey thread was hard to keep up with :scared1:

I'm reading everything though.

QOTD: ducktales!

Congrats on the job offer my3princes.

OH I forgot to ask, how does this thread merging work? Will we be put back on our seperate threads eventually?

QOTD 3/30/11 Wednesday
Let's go back in time! What was your favorite cartoon or tv show when you were a kid?

I am torn. Without any thought I would say Transformers or He-Man. But upon thoughtful introspection, I would have to say Gummi Bears or DuckTales. I prefer the latter cartoons because they hold up over the years. If I were to pop Transformers or He-Man in the DVD player, they would be hard to watch. On the other hand, when I watch Gummi Bears and DuckTales with my daughters I am still thoroughly entertained.

Buffy- totally jealous of your impromptu trip:goodvibes
LOL DH is working at a conference at the Contemporary, so it's a working vacation. May as well get use out of the free room and food! LOL
And we are leaving the kids at home since our anniversary is that week. :woohoo:

QOTD 3/30/11 Wednesday
Let's go back in time! What was your favorite cartoon or tv show when you were a kid?

Jem, Smurfs and Shirt tales. I found a Jem book at a book sale last year. I snatched that sucker up in a heart beat!!

TV show - Who's the Boss, Punky Brewster, and The Cosby Show.

The weather is sucking the life out of me, so I can totally empathize with you. Glad the rest and relaxation is helping!:goodvibes

Have a great night all!!
Jude:flower3:
She posted reminders on the team threads, so I copied it here. I sent her a pm that we merged, so hopefully the results will be posted here. WIN was on Friday, but you might still be able to send measurements in if you haven't yet.

OH I forgot to ask, how does this thread merging work? Will we be put back on our seperate threads eventually?
This is the first time we have done teams in a while. The intention all along was to merge the threads. We will only have one thread for the summer and fall challenge. It is a HUGE amount of extra work for everyone running the challenges (Tracey, CC, and me) when we have two threads, so we are very happy to be on one.

It does move a little faster, but you don't have to reply to everyone, read what you can, and check in when you can. As the weather gets better it will slow down a little.:goodvibes I try to look at it as, even though there are more posts to read, that just means more great motiviation and advice and support.:goodvibes

I prefer the latter cartoons because they hold up over the years. If I were to pop Transformers or He-Man in the DVD player, they would be hard to watch. On the other hand, when I watch Gummi Bears and DuckTales with my daughters I am still thoroughly entertained.

Hi Matt! I'm glad you made it over here. Now where is Dave????

I hope everyone is having a good evening.:goodvibes

Sorry I've been MIA lately. It's book fair time again and we have a big game show night at school on Friday. All hands on deck for that one. I'll be glad when it's over.

I've been off plan and haven't worked out since the 14th. I need to get back on track. Of course I say that as I feel a sinus infection coming on. I really hope it's just allergies.

DS14 started Track last week. He's running the 400 and the 200. He's getting beat by his coach! LOL The short distance coach is also the football coach so he is doing football conditioning. I really hope DS can run the 5K in May, he's in a lot of pain after practice every day.

I hope to hit the treadmill soon or get out there while the weather is good to get on the track.

My mini goal is to get some kind of exercise in every day at Disney.

OK, I just want to make sure -- is this the thread that has taken over both Team Donald & Team Mickey?
