Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

It's cold and windy, so I'm procrastinating my run/walk. I need to do it though. My eating is back on track, and we have leftovers from sat night for dinner tonight, and tomorrow's lunch, so I have no excuse not to get my exercise in. So ready for spring to really come and stay.

I agree I can not wait for spring or even summer weather would be fine at this point. I have been slacking on my outside runs it is much harder to get out in the cold now that princess is over. We are having 30-40 degree weather but it looks like next thur so far it is in the 60's so hopefully it will warm up and then stay there.

I hope everyone has had a good day. I went to the chiropractor after work to be tortured, oh I mean to have my itb rehabbed.:thumbsup2 It is just excruciating. Then I went to the Y and did 3 miles on the elliptical and lifted weights and did my rehab exercises. Anyhow, sorry I didn't do replies today. I'm feeling a little stressed out about "stuff" but hopefully will be back on track tomorrow.:goodvibes Oh, and some good news, I think I am going to lower my maintain weight a pound or two this week, so that's kind of exciting.:goodvibes

Then I quit smoking 4 years ago. So the weight has just crept right up on me. I gained 45 pounds over about a 5 year time frame.

Isnt is horrible that you make such a great life change like quitting smoking and then it leads to weight gain. Its just not right. Good for you for both quitting and for the weight loss. Good luck with the EE challenge.:thumbsup2

Our first step is to no eating out challenge. I challenged the kids to a whole month of no eating out. Each kid has a day of kitchen duty where they pick the meal and help prepare it. Hasn't been working so well. Trying to regroup for April

Even though it wasnt working well I think that is an excellent idea. My kids are 6 and 4 and I am thinking of getting them involved somehow using your idea.

Off to hit the shower before I watch DWTS!!.........P

We have had a strange day here {grumpy DH (bad day), unstocked shelves, and long lines at the grocery store - had to substitute the stuff they were out of! DD ran over my heel with the cart (she was so upset), and when I got out to the vehicle I cracked my head on the "handle to help you pull yourself in" (is that the official name of that piece of equipment?) Anyhow, I tried to buy a Leslie Sansone DVD so I would start exercising, (was excited to start 1st thing tomorrow) but when we got home and put stuff away - the DVD was no where to be found. A call to the store assures us it was left behind, but now my motivation is gone. DD1 opened the cupboard on DD2's face, leaving a nasty red mark on her nose! DH just found out that a shipment he needed by Wed. will not be here until April 18th!} :sad2:
Anyhow, I was OP today, and it is almost bedtime (whew!) Tomorrow we will laugh about it all! Have a great night everyone!

On top of my pain, my best friend/roommate lost his brother Michael last Tuesday.

That is so sad and yes a reminder about reaching out to those in need and telling our love ones how much they mean to us.


I didnt make it on here last night. Just needed a break. I took care of the boys and once they were in bed I hit the couch and watched DWTS. I fell asleep and missed hines ward and made it up to my bed around midnight. I had a weird dream but luckily fell back to sleep and I feel pretty rested today.

I would just love for the weather to warm up around here. It was so cold out this morning. It looks like it will be in the low 50's by the wkend and then a gradually warm up to 60 by next thur. I stalk the weather channel in hopes to see high numbers.:lmao:

I finalized the plans yesterday for nicks 4th bday party. It started out as just a family party at our house and now we have 10kids and a tumble bus coming for an hour. Its a school bus w/ gym equip inside. There is 2 instructors and they do games and tumbling stuff all inside of the bus. I think it will be fun! It is on 4/9 and I am hoping for a warm day so the parents dont freeze that want to stand outside of the bus.

Our Dr I work for is buying lunch from red robin today. I choose the simply grilled chicken sandwich and melon. I did have quite a good weight gain this week but already lost a lb. Hopefully it was just TOM residual water weight.

QOTD-Tuesday

The first time I ever had a trainer was at a gym I belonged to years ago and I was actually fit and thin at that time. I was probably 21 or 22 yrs old. I had my first appt. We did the weights and some weight + cardio. He worked me so hard that I was nauseous and towards the end he wanted me to step up on a stepper and lift the dumbells above my head at the same time. I went to do it and my legs gave out and I collapsed to the floor. (let me mention I am pretty tough and will finish and do anything I am asked) I told him I really didnt feel well and can you believe he made me finish.

I had to have my dad come pick me up from the gym and he had to carry me on his back into the house. I remember laying up on the bathroom floor feeling like I was going to vomit and my mom came in with this huge glass of super sugary ice tea.:lmao: I think she thought I had low blood sugar. That part still makes me laugh:rotfl:

Long story short.....I called off of work the next day and it took me about a week to recover. I have never ever met with a trainer since then. Im sure there are better ones out there who will not try to kill you but the memory has just scarred me for life.
 
Since today is my only day off this week, I decided to just take the day off and do whatever I wanted. I might get to some laundry or cleaning, but I put off the shopping til tomorrow.

My sweet little kitty isn't quite that today, more like devil. I was walking by the couch and noticed her laying in the corner curled up looking so cute. So I stopped to pet her and she wraps her paws around my arm and proceeds to bite super hard into my forearm! Thank God I had a long sleeve shirt on! Brat!
 
Hello everybody! Today is continuing to be strange - DD2 ran the fridge door over the back of her heel, and I dropped my earring down the drain ... but honestly, we just shake our heads and laugh. We had a good friend, who has passed away now, who always said, "The only thing that matters is your 'guys', you can replace stuff - but not 'guys'," (referring to family). We always quote him when small troubles start to get us down. I appreciated the reminder from RemembertheMagic98 today, everyone hug your "guys" (or gals) and tell them you love them!!!
DH went and picked up my Leslie Sansone DVD from last night, and I'm going to exercise!
QOTD: We had the free session when we joined a gym 2 yrs. ago, but it was nothing to get excited about. We thought about paying for more, but never did. Have a great day. :love:

I don't know how much time I will have when I am gone. The hotels have internet so I will try to at least come by and say hi and let you know if I am being good or have just abandoned my healthy eating completely during my trip. :rolleyes1

really sometimes that is all you can do. I get like that with stress too. I will get worked up for awhile but then it all builds up and I just get the giggles. This happened to me more recently in a meeting. I for some reason found it extremely funny that my boss kept handing out line graph charts all representing the same thing and it just made me laugh wondering if he wallpapers his house with graphs.:lmao: I really had to quickly think of something else because I started to shake holding in the giggles. Real professional I know but sometimes laughter is the best medicine.

QOTD: I used a free training session to learn how to use the equipment, but haven't scheduled another. Honestly right now I am having a hard enough time just getting my butt to the the gym. I did go twice over the weekend though!


I guess its time for me to really kick it into gear. I would like to lose 12 lbs in the next month:rolleyes: We'll see what happens.
 
Good almost evening!!!!

Watching Tangled right now with the family! Love this!!! (I'll probably watch it again tomorrow morning after Izzie goes to school!) We eat early on Tuesdays due to dancing and next week it will be because of dancing and soccer! Probably have to do take out!

Brian and I had two TJs chicken burgers on potato rolls/bread with chipotle mayo. YUMMY! I'm planning on doing some elliptical tonight during BL! I'm also hoping to be walking with redwalker in the morning with her puppy!

Been so so today. I had a few chips and a couple small pieces of chocolate when Ash got home. I also had a skinny cow. I've been drinking lots of water and tea today so I think I'll be ok. I've dropped half of my weekend partying weight so I hope to be ok by the end of the week beginning of next week.

QOTD: I have never had a trainer. I was inspired by redwalker and we became walking buddies! I know somebody who runs a boot camp nearby but I haven't had time to go in to work with him. I think of Jillian Michaels and Leslie Sansone and Bob Harper as my trainers as they inspire me and I've learned a lot from them. I just need to get back with the program of working out every morning! The past couple of weeks have been difficult but I go through this occasionally and always seem to get back on track eventually. As long as my clothes still fit I know I'll be ok.

I'll post after my workout later tonight! Need to drink some more water now!

Evening All!

I only have a few minutes before I really must be off to bed. Things are looking very positive. I didn't overeat today. I am no longer going to use the word binge. The word itself just leads me to feeling guilty and self-conscious. I would not say that I ate the right amount of food today, but I did not just sit there and continously eat. I was pretty sick at work today and had to hide how bad I was from my co-workers. I don't want that to happen again, so I really need to nip this overeating thing-now. I'm hoping for an OP day tomorrow.

I just want to say thank you to all of you for your constant support!

cclovesdis congrats on 2 days OP. I have been on team Mickey thread and have read about the trouble you have been having. I wish you a lot of luck over the next couple of weeks.

I could use some PD sent to ds2. Something came up and it would be great if it could work for him. It would be a major committment for him and for us since he would need to find a place to live for the summer. I don't want to say anything more since I don't want to jinx it.

Just finished 2.05 miles on the elliptical while watching BL. Brian is playing Lego Star Wars so I stayed downstairs.

My plan looks like this for tomorrow:
5:30AM- 2 mile WATP workout with weights followed by water and tea
7:30AM- Shake for breakfast
8:30AM- Clean kitchen and living room
9:30AM Walk around town with Redwalker and Luna
11:00AM Stop at Wellness Center for lunch shake
12:00PM Get Izzie off bed and feed her lunch and then take her to playdate
1:00PM Some type of fun workout
3:00PM Pick up Izzie and get her ready for dancing
4:00PM Take Izzie to dancing
5:00PM Dinner with the family

We may get a big snowstorm on Friday:scared1: Not happy about that but I will be prepared. While Izzie is at dancing, Ash and I will go to the grocery store for a few quick items.

Time to get some more water and head upstairs!

QOTD 3/25/11 Saturday
Let's talk about the dreaded F words- Fast Food! How do you cope with dinner on the run, do you have a favorite not so bad for you place to go or a favorite lower calorie choice at the not so good for you place? Do you try to avoid these places altogether?

My favorite not so bad place is Subway. I love getting a foot long ham and turkey with cheddar cheese on wheat. My other place is Souper Salad near my home. Its an all you can eat salad bar, baked potato bar, and they have soups and desserts.
 
Okay first things first and most imporantly:

I didn't gain any weight while at Disney!! :banana:

Okay onto how the trip went:

I got home late last night from my "happy" place and wanted to let everyone know how the trip went.

Candice (Best friend) and I were up before the roosters Saturday morning. I got ready and shot her a text as we were pulling out of the driveway. We were going to go through McDonalds drive thru to grab some breakfast and the employee was like "Oh we're closed." Um, no your not. Your drive thru is open 24 hours and you just took someone's order." Okay, fine whatever. We drove over to Whataburger near Candice's house and got some breakfast and then swung by her apartment and picked her up. We ate breakfast on the way to the airport and once we were there got ready to check in for the flight. I went reaching into my purse for our boarding passes and WHOOPS! I left them in the car. Okay no biggie I just reprinted them and we were set to go. We got checked in, got our bags checked in, went through security (I did all of this walking with no wheelchair), and walked about half a mile to our gate.

The flight was uneventful and before we knew it we were landing in Orlando. Now, Orlando was a totally different story the DFW airport. We have to walk over the mountains and through the woods to get to baggage claim and then onto the Magical Express bus. So in this case I was pushed in a wheelchair. I didn't recieve our Magical Express info before our trip because I had booked it that same week. So we waited in line to get our voucher and off to the bus we went. After a few confusing moments we were directed to the right bus and off to Saratoga Springs resort and Spa we went!

The first day we were there we pretty much just lounged around and went to Downtown Disney. We got checked in and were told our room wasn't ready. I asked the cast member for a closer room to the lobby and that they had one. We were lucky, I got the LAST ONE!

We left our bags with bell services, went to grab a bite to eat, and then decided what to do next. We jumped onto a bus to Downtown Disney and did some shopping and ate lunch at Rainforest Cafe. I can honestly say that walking through Downtown Disney wasn't as bad as I expected. I think with all the walking I've been doing my leg held up pretty well. After lunch we hit one more shop and then headed back to the room to relax for a few.

We decided we wanted to swim so got ready and headed to the pool. Yeah, we weren't in it long it wasn't very warm . We went back to the room, got dressed, and headed back to Downtown Disney. We walked around some more and enjoyed dinner at Captain Jack's Restaurant. We both had crab cakes with aspargus and red roasted potatoes. We ordered drinks and when the waitress brought them to us they were huge! A few of you got the text I sent showing exactly how big they were .

By the time dinner was over and we were back on a bus to the resort it was almost midnight. We hit the bed and got up early the following morning for Magic Kingdom .

We get to Magic Kingdom and I had to have them reprint my annual pass because I had left it at home . I also had to pick up Candice's theme park ticket. This is where I got a peice of interesting news. Apparently, I had bought her a 5 day ticket and not a 1 day. I'm still needing to look into how and why on earth I did this. We get me a wheelchair and through the gate we go.

For the most part the park wasn't all that busy. It was a little warm but nothing ridiculously hot. We had gotten there about an hour and a half before our lunch reservation at Tony's restaurant so we just took some pictures, watched a parade, and waited for our reservation. Lunch was garlic bread with cheese on top for an appetizer and baked ziti with Cokes. This was our first time eating there and determined that it was going to be a repeat visit when we come back later in the year.

After lunch we decided to hit Adventure Land and work our way around the park, leaving Tomorrow Land for last. I'm not going to bore you with all the details but I will tell you we finished lunch around 1:15 and by 12:45am the following morning we had rode everything we wanted to ride in the park plus the time allotted for our dinner reservation at Liberty Tree Tavern and the little time I spent shopping getting my Mickey Mouse for the trip.

Oh, Liberty Tree Tavern was a buffet of sliced beef, ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, and macaroni and cheese that they brought to your table. Dessert was apple crisp with ice cream. It was another very delicious dinner that I will try again on future trips.

The last day we just lounged around the resort. It was really crummy weather. We had bell services pick us and our luggage up and take us to the front of the resort. We got everything squared away and then went and had lunch and lounged around waiting for our 4pm bus. Once on the bus we were off to the airport. The rest of the trip wasn't very eventful, but I was glad to get home and hit the bed.
 
Today was another busy day. I started the last class for my PhD today. I am excited to be finishing up with at least that part of this long process. I also made a date with some friends to go hiking this Thursday. I am totally excited to start exercising again. I havent exercised for two months :guilty: and I really need to get back into it.

P- How cool, youre going to WDW. I hope you have a great time. You more than deserve it. I ate a little bit of everything at the Steakhouse, although I personally didn’t order anything. I tasted the lobster, mac n cheese, asparagus, mashed potatoes, calamari, crab cake, and sangria. Lets just say I paid for it by gaining a pound. Your salmon chowder sounds yummy. I’ll find a picture of a birdcage veil to show you. Basically it’s a tiny veil that only goes over your face.

Buffy- totally jealous of your impromptu trip:goodvibes

Sue- DL is about a half hour drive. I have never been to Napa Rose, but have always wanted to go. What did you eat/recommend??

Aamomma- glad you made it through yesterday!

Becky- count me in on losing 5 pounds with you before our trip. We can do it!

Kathy- Hi! Wow you developed great exercise habits. The wedding planning is going alright. I finally got an officiant from my childhood church. I booked my venue, near my house. My wedding date is October 28! This upcoming month is when I will finalize a lot of things. I will post an update by this weekend.

Karen- So sorry you and your BF are going through difficult times right now:hug:

I woke up feeling more tired than when I went to bed last night. I guess it is the sore throat that came back yesterday. I thought I had a good night sleep but I guess I didn't . I have a 7pm dinner meeting tonight. I have no idea what they are serving. I will be working on portion control tonight. I know I won't be getting home until late which is good since I wanted to watch the final of Top Chef tonight.

Cupcaker good luck on the last class. I kind of wish that I had gone for my PhD but I had no one to do it with and it is much harder by yourself. I would have been doing a lot of driving by myself.

Sorry I've been away from the boards for so darn long. I've pm'd some weights here & there but lost my mojo. Kids activities kicked up a gear, got a stupid cold in Feb, and had a very difficult time at work most of Feb & March. I realized I had made this promise to myself nearly THREE MONTHS AGO to lose a few pounds--where did the time go? I didn't gain, but I didn't really lose, either, so...

..I signed up at WW on Monday. Had to bring the kiddos with me, but they were pretty good. I just need parameters, I guess. And more accountability, I guess--it was easy to just not pm my weight :-(

So, thank you for staying strong you guys are an inspiration!

morning! i really can't stand waking up more tired. i've been feeling that way lately too. yuck.

dinner meetings used to stress me out when i was trying to eat well. i always would try to figure out what we were eating so i could plan ahead. or, if we had to stay late and decided to order chinese or something i'd always be the one holding up the whole order b/c i could never figure out what to get. hopefully they will have something good that will help you keep OP today :)

i hope everyone has a great day. i STILL haven't gotten out for a run. it's been almost 2 weeks now :( it's been cold and i just don't have the motivation to be cold and run. it's not like i have a race to train for! i had a sitter and everything yesterday. but i sent her and DS to the park and i did the elliptical (we have one in our guest room) for 30 minutes. i've been having some stomach issues anyway to i wanted to be close to the bathroom just in case anyway.

we are leaving in just over a month for maui! my original goal was to be 5 lbs less by the time we left and maybe even squeeze into a two piece bathing suit for the trip! instead i bought some sensible full coverage tankinis. oh well.

Tuesday QOTD – I’ve never used a personal trainer and for now, I have no intention to. When I do everything or even most of what I know I should, I start losing weight. If I find myself doing everything I should and I can’t get to my goal, then I might consider it. Until then, I need to improve myself and do the things I already know.

For those of you waiting for the warmer weather, I am right there with you!

Let's go back in time! What was your favorite cartoon or tv show when you were a kid?

Mine was Jem and the Holograms. My mom & I used to watch it every morning before school. A friend of mine bought me a DVD a few years ago with some of the episodes.

I have a short day at work today then it's grocery shopping finally. I am going to try one of the Hungry Girl Recipes for dinner tonight- so low mein with chicken. And maybe one of the cupcake recipes!
