As we anticipate our next trip to WDW, the whole family is doing all sorts of research this time. My daughter just asked, "What is the biggest roller coaster drop at Disney World?" Anybody know?

agree with robo, but the drop that feels the biggest to me is splash moutain. Maybe that is because once you go down on EE you start to feel a new movement.
My friend who referred me to DISboards said y'all replied immediately. I didn't know she actually meant IMMEDIATELY. We LOVE all these rides - EE, RnR, SM! We'll do them all! My daughter just wanted to know which one is technically the biggest. Thanks so much for your responses! (My husband just did a search for Kraken and learned from one source its drop is 144 feet as opposed to 80 for EE. Maybe next time. We're only doing WDW this trip.)

If you're roller coaster junkies, you might want to reconsider. Kraken is one of the top three roller coasters I've ever ridden. It's in a completely different class of thrill ride than anything at WDW, and is far better than any other roller coaster in Orlando right now, including the Hulk and Dueling Dragons at Universal. (That might change when Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Rollercoaster at Universal opens this spring or summer, though.)
The only coasters I've ever ridden that compare well with Kraken are Superman: Ride of Steel at Darien Lake in NY, and the near duplicate Superman: Ride of Steel at Six Flags New England.
Yes, Splash's drop may FEEL like a big one, but it is only 52 feet down.
Expedition Everest's drop is very well-designed, so its 80 foot drop does not actually FEEL like it is quite that far.
And, since you mentioned my favorite "thrill ride," ToT, I know it has the potential of a 13-story (about 130 feet) drop, but it does not always drop the full measure all at once.
Each time you ride the attraction you can get a different sequence of drops of various distances.
It is a great attraction, and yes, you really FEEL those drops, too!
Just as a FYI, this hasn't been true for about six years. The waterslide with the world's largest drop is Insano, which opened in 2002 at Beach Park in Porto das Dunas, Brazil. At 135', it's 15' taller than Summit Plummet.

Great info, everyone! Maybe one day we'll head over to Sea World or even to Brazil, but for now, with 10 and 8 year olds, I think we'll stick to WDW. Even though we're sort of old, my DH and I both LOVE rollercoasters. We're thankful our kids do too! We watched a video of someone riding Kraken on youtube, and our DD (10) said she definitely wasn't ready for that! Again, thanks to all. Happy New Year!
