Biggest ADR Letdown?

It is a tie between CRT and Chef Mickey. I believe the food at a character meal should stand on it's own as worth the price of the meal outside of the added benefit of characters. These were both letdowns in that regard.

We skip Disney ADRs--way overpriced for pretty awful food. They know they have a captive audience and they take advantage of that with subpar food and increasingly meh service. Use the money you save to rent a car and eat off property; there are many good local and chain restaurants close to the Disney hotels. Have a good breakfast at one of them and then have a good and reasonably priced dinner outside the Disney bubble in; in the meantime take or get a snack in the park.

Probably won't do crystal palace for dinner again. The buffet was just meh. The characters were great. Not that anything was terrible. We just probably won't go again.

I'll add Crystal Palace to my list. Went there for the first time earlier this month for breakfast. None of the hot food was even lukewarm. Nothing worse than congealing sausage gravy over hardening cold biscuits.
DW didn't enjoy Y&Y because her chicken was overcooked and dry. She can't handle dry meat since having gastric surgery. I, on the other hand, loved my burger from there.

'Ohana dinner. We had such high hopes, but we waited forever to be seated (even though we were the second group to check in for the evening) and the food just wasn't good. The only plus was the window seat we had, it was a gorgeous view of the lagoon and MK.

Boma. We aren't picky eaters, in fact we love trying new food. We have even had authentic African food before. Boma was big disappointment for us. They had a few "African and Indian" INSPIRED dishes, but they were all really bland. Pork shoulder cubes were disgusting, and only choice of carved beef was rare, so passed on that. Soups were outstanding, desserts were good, but otherwise we ate very little of anything else. Too bad, because we were really looking forward to that ADR.

Boma was my worst ADR experience too! The food just did not live up to all the grand reviews. I agree with the quoted poster in saying that the African and Indian foods were very bland tasting. Nothing special. I have had better Indian food here in the Midwest.

The zebra domes were also something that lots of people rave about here on the DIS. I did not like the taste of them at all.

We did enjoy the rest of the evening checking out the resort. We were able to see the gazelles using the night vision googles at the viewing spot near the pool. So, the night was not a total waste.

Chef Mickeys!! I know, you pay for the character experience, but for that price the food should be good. It was as bad as hospital food! No flavor, tasted old...was horrible. Never will go back, characters or not.

I would say Ohana and San Angel inn were our 2 biggest disappointments on our last trip. Ohana I think is no where near how good it used to be, it was a staple on our yearly trips now not so much. San Angel was just ok last time as well.

Sorry, but this just isn't fair. Are all the restaurants at Disney incredible? No. Do some have awful food? Yes. But to dismiss them all as awful and say that you're better off eating at a chain restaurant off property is, well, kind of ridiculous. Artist Point, Bluezoo, Il Mulino, Narcoossee's, Victoria & Alberts, Shula's, Boathouse, Sanaa, and not to mention several restaurants at World Showcase offer some excellent dining selections. I'd rather eat at any of the above over Chili's or whatever chain restaurants exist off property any day of the week.

That being said, our biggest ADR disappointment was probably Citricos. Everyone raves about it, and we found the food to be just ok and the service spectacularly slow.

I was really disappointed with Mama Melrose.
Our server was nice but he was very very slow. People seated after us were half way done with their dinners before we even got ours.
The soup was very salty. I got the chicken parm and the chicken was very small. It was served on a little bit of ziti with almost no sauce on either the chicken or the pasta. I asked for extra sauce and even that wasn't very good.
My wife got the pene ala vodka. I tried some of it and it was delicious. They served it in a huge bowl too. She couldn't even eat half of it.

I'd give it one more try next time we go back. But I was expecting so much more.

Chef Mickeys - the food was worse than Golden Corral (and I find that pretty darn bad).

I knew going into Chef Mickey's that it would be a VERY overpriced, VERY mediocre buffet.
I went into it knowing we were paying for the experience.
I kept expectations low, and it was still bad.

I thought 50s prime time was awful. Bad food and awful service. Plus I just find the decor depressing.
The desserts almost saved it, but I still wouldn't go back.

The food wasn't bad at any of these, just not great and not worth the price. Better options out there, IMO.

Artist Point. January 2015. Found a hair in my food. No thanks, never again.

Coral Reef. January 2011. Server was overwhelmed with our large group. Food was overpriced and underwhelming.

I have eaten at 'ohana a handful of times and never had any issues. I tend to get an ADR at dinner opening, so maybe that has something to do with it? I would book it for my upcoming trip, but my husband cannot stand that lady who sings and interacts with the kids. Oh well.

Jiko. We love great restaurants and were really looking forward to Jiko this past May. It was just ok. Not bad but didn't wow us at all. We talked it up so much to our 9 yr old who ordered the steak and he said, "I thought it would be WAY better." Me too kid!

Service was fine. Food was fine. But I wouldn't go back.

Raglan Road. Had fish and chips, and the fish was undercooked (had pockets of batter that were uncooked/still liquid). Plus, it was so loud that conversation was impossible without totally shouting. So disappointing!
