Big Thunder rehab? I am so upset!

I have read on a board somewhere that Big Thunder will be closed for rehab in Sept. This is my all time favorite ride at MK and I just can't think
about it being closed. Does anyone know for sure
that this is true? If so what are the proposed
dates for the rehab? If I have to miss BTMR I
might do something desperate like go to MGM and
ride RNR or TOT (never can get up the nerve) I
need some positive thoughts from others that do
enjoy RNR and TOT. I had a friend that talked me
into riding the Hulk at IOA and I thought that I
would not survive on that one. I want to ride RNR
just once to say that I did. TOT ???? Help me
please !!! I am a big chicken. LOL

I was nervous about ToT also but you have to try it. Its now my favorite attraction. I dont like stomach in your mouth dropping ride but this one is smoother. Its great you have to give it a shot.
I dont think you'll be sorry. I do like RnR also, and the Hulk, and Dueling Dragons...lol.

I avoided Tower of Terror our first three family trips.
Last year I finally got up enough nerve to try it with my then 11 year old son and it is now my absolutely favorite ride (my son's #1 also).
This year we made a point of making this our first and last ride at WDW.
We were there last week and managed to ride TOT 13 times!
I am not a big fan of RnRC but went on twice last week for my son. TOT in my opinion is a wonderful attraction and a whole lot of fun.
I have never been on any ride before where people are applauding when it is ending. This happens on almost every ride on TOT.
Try it......I hope you love it as much as we do!

I've called several times and BTMRR is currently NOT on the Rehab list. Of course that could change at any time.

On our last visit BTMRR was closed for rehab. Since it was also closed on my DH's trip before that, this attraction had been eagerly awaited by him and the excitement had also transferred to our kids. I had called several times regarding closures, trying to avoid disapointment, and had been told only that 1 attraction in MGM was closed. Upon our arrival (only a few days after my last phone call), we find BTMRR closed as well as Peter pan's Flight and a few others. These had been closed for several weeks already. I no longer trust the info they give over the phone.

We will be there in November (I'll be there at the beginning on Oct without them), and if this attraction is closed (again) this may be the last time my DH consents to join me!

What month did you visit that these closures happened? I would be upset too if those attractions were down without prior notice.

I just read on the wdw.magic discussion boards that BTMRR will be closed for rehab from mid to late Aug. until late Nov. (right before Thanksgiving). This info. came from a Frontierland CM.

We will be there mid Nov. and are VERY dissapointed!! It's the one ride that I've been getting my 8 yo pumped for, in hopes that she would try it. My only hope is that they will finish earlier than expected. Does that ever happen??

The fact that this info. comes from a Frontierland CM makes it more than likely true.

I never did see what was scary about Tower Of Terror. Rock N' Rollercoaster is quite possibly the smoothest steel coaster I've been on. It's in the dark too, so that helps calm the fear. I know this doesn't help. Blah.

That trip was in early November of 2000. Our family trip this time is Nov 14-23. If BTMRR is going to be closed I may have to change it. Its kind of a joke with us right now but that may not last for long! I did think that after 3 years it was about due, but thought they would rotate the time of year.

I work at MK (Not at Big Thunder, but in the park) I have not heard anything "Official" about the BTMRR rehab, but I had heard from a manager at BTM that it was to close in late August and reopen before Thanksgiving. So that seems to be where it is headed as was posted already. If the information is finalized I will be sure to post the dates///

Yes, please confirm...I am getting depressed reading this, and then there are other rumors about ToT being closed for rehab as well.....Say it ain't so

DS and I will be there Oct 3-6. He loves BTMRR. It was the first big ride he asked to ride again and again and again.


I wanted this to be one of our first rides during MNSSHP.

I just called Disney and they said nothing is listed yet which she said means they are not going to do it or haven't finalized it yet. So I say if we get a bunch of people calling saying don't do it they may wait. I say do it in Jan.
