Big Thunder Ranch BBQ

It's not a buffet at all. It's table service, they bring the food to you. And I disagree 100% with the quantity over quality comment, I love the food at the BBQ, it's very good. It is all you can eat, served family style at your table, refills are brought to your table as well. Not a buffet.

Very true. Not a buffett but it is all you can eat. And the quality of food when I ate there was terrific. The ribs were falling off the bone and melted in my mouth. The chicken was done to perfection. The sausages were very good (hard to screw up sausage unless you just dont like sausage). Im not a baked bean or coleslaw guy but the rest of my family loved the coleslaw and baked beans. I didnt think there was anything low quality about the food at all.

Yup, I did say it was all you can eat. :) Did you try the coleslaw? I'm not a huge fan but OMG their slaw is the BEST!!! It's so good that I have the recipe and make it myself at home for our BBQ's. :) I like the beans, but I'm with you on that, not a huge fan so I don't eat that much. lol I'm glad you like it as much as we do! :)

Wah!!! I so want to try the BBQ, but my DH does not eat anything on a bone...and he's not the biggest sausage fan...

Save room for dessert! They have a pizzooki (half-baked HUGE chocolate chip cookie with ice cream on top, and hot fudge drizzled on top) that is to DIE for. Order it like half way into your meal so it has time to cook and so you aren't stuffed when it's dessert time and you talk yourself out of it (I've done this way too many times and am always sad I ate too much to get it). It's enough for 3-6 people (3 pretty hungry people, 6 pretty full people). Also you can take any leftovers here to go! They will totally give you a to go box and let you take home whatever's on the table... so if this means that you "happen" to order way too many ribs/chicken/whatever you love, they won't care if you take it with you. Makes for a nice snack later or meal the next day, as long as you have a mini fridge in your hotel room. :D

I don't either, in fact I rarely eat chicken on the bone at all but at DLR every time I've eaten chicken on the bone I've loved it. :) Seriously, it's very very good!! As are the ribs and the sausages.

Actually, they don't always give boxes, we have been successful getting a box once (we haven't asked more than one time, we stop eating when we are about stuffed), however the table next to us earlier this month asked for a box for the cornbread (they had a huge basket that didn't get eaten at all) and the server wouldn't give them one. So, while you can ask be aware it may not be given to you.

Sadly, this is not true anymore. It used to be. But people were abusing it and intentionally ordering more food just to have boxed up. Our server brought me an extra order of the veggie options without me asking for it and I was stuffed and asked for a box. He told me the deal with people abusing the option so they could not do it. But said if I had something to take it with me, he was okay with that.
So, next time we go, I will have something to put it in if we need it (I hate wasting food) and if it is still okay. if not, I am okay with that too. :)

That's really unfortunate. I haven't been there in a year or so, so I guess this could've gotten out of control since then, but it seemed like no one knew about it when I was there. I'm going in 2 weeks, I'm going to ask when I go, see if they turn me down too. It sucks that people have to abuse it and ruin it for everyone else.

I would love to know what you find out. It really made me sad when our server told me that. We did not plan to take anything, but there was 3 skewers. So, we stuffed them into ourselves so they were not wasted...:scared1:

Yes! It's good! And it's really fun!
I've always had a great time there. Love the atmosphere. Have fun :thumbsup2
