Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed.

Meh... this ain't so great for us. Our trip begins next week on Thursday, February 27th and our last park day is Monday, March 3rd... if tests and adjustments are happening at the end of the week we are going home... ugh... really wish we shifted our dates if this becomes the true facts of the matter. We would've been so close and yet so far. :confused3

Hoping for some freak miracle where it soft opens early in the week... LOL.

We can dream, right?!! :rotfl:

It seems to be all we can really do. Though, I really can't imagine any amount of dreaming will help them open up in any way for a regular Monday at the park, heh! The following Friday and weekend? Well, that might be a different story. If anything at all, they would soft open on the weekend after next, as February crosses over into March. But considering what has been reported, that probably won't be the case and is just wishful thinking. But hey, here's hoping to be pleasantly surprised! :rolleyes1

Just be up by late April...Just be up by late April...

Most likely, this will be the case, so I would not worry much at all. Mid-March is probably when they'll have it running again. We can hope for earlier, but that's all it will be chalked up as -- hope. ;)

If we are putting in personal requests, mine would be for anytime prior to March 26th. Thanks.

Really really really hoping it will be up by then. We will be there 23rd and its one of DH's favorites. He's already really upset about Indy being down while we are there.

Heh, I keep joking that we need a local to be our "BTMRR Spy" and keep and eye on the project for us for any signs of activity. Maybe ride the Mark Twain and peek over the work walls and take pictures and videos or something... :rotfl2:

We are heading to DLR on Saturday so we will see what kind of sneak peeks we can find :thumbsup2

I will be in the parks 2/27-3/2 so maybe a soft open will happen? One can wish right? pixiedust:

Love this idea! :thumbsup2

Love this idea! :thumbsup2

We were just at the park this past Saturday and I could hear the train running... I peaked through the fence, but could really not see anything.

The sign posted on the fencing stated that BTMRR will be re-opening early 2014... Whatever that means. Lol

:-)

I will be there the same dates and I can almost guarantee it won't happen. Generally, cast members get used as the first guinea pigs. Then they may do AP previews, then soft openings. These are generally done to train the CMs running the ride.

We can hope and wish, but be realistic and don't expect it either.

I will be back down Mar 8th, then again Apr 17/21, and figure April will be our first chance.

*** Update ***

Last night -- Thursday, February 20th, 2014 -- Disneyland Cast Members were invited over via their internal radio systems to come preview a first rough ride-through of the newly updated Big Thunder Mountain Railroad attraction. Cast Members were told that if they were not currently working and interested, they could make their way over to the Thunder Mesa site for a test ride. Cast Member reports indicate that most (if not all) show scenes were not operational at the time of their ride. No ambiant music and no saftey spiels were to be heard at any point. The lighting effects in the third lift hill were completely shut off, leaving the final climb in complete darkness. Cast Members also are reporting that the ride itself on the newly installed track and train cars were extremely smooth. Apparently, there are some show scene syncing issues and some show scene details (such as painting, etc.) that still need to be polished. Official Cast Member previews are still scheduled for the 10th of March, but some indicate that soft openings may happen sooner from what was seen and heard by operators yesterday night. No official word on that has been made known as of yet. Stay tuned, folks.

Yeah. We went Valentine's Day weekend. And I actually caught a glimpse of the train and the new mahogany/dark red track when I was rounding the path that wraps from Fantasyland past Big Thunder BBQ to Frontierland. I could also hear the mineshaft sound effects too.

Was there on Tuesday Feb 18 and could see trains running from the pirates que.

I'm not expecting much for our trip, but I would hope with all these reports of trains moving and tests and what not... they don't waste much time with soft openings! :goodvibes

We were there yesterday, Thursday, the 20th. We heard trains running during a 3 hour period, we kept swinging back and creeping the whole time we were on that side of the park. Btw, crowded yesterday.
