Yay or nay? Have my FP window opening next week and trying to figure out what to try and book. Will be doing MK over two days. He's 46/47" if that helps. Thx

Should say YEAR old. Darn fat fingers on iPhone. . ;).

My DD5 LOVED it, but she had just gotten into roller coasters over the summer. So it would depend on your child. There are no huge drops...just more turns. And it goes in the tunnel but not for long.

DS rode it for the first time when he was 4 and LOVED it!

My DD (almost 5 when she rode it) loved it. It's really not that scary. It's fast but there are no real hills. I let DD watch it a few times before we got on and then let her decide whether we would ride it or not.

Thank you! It's been over 20 years since I've been to WDW myself so my memories are foggy to say the least. I've been checking out stuff on YouTube too but you cant tell somethings by a video.

It's not scary, but the lighter you are, the more you will feel the speed and the bumps and stuff. I would ask for a seat in the front for a slightly tamer ride for a first ride with a young child.

DGD had just turned 5, and BTMRR was her 2nd favorite ride. ToT was her favorite!

My daughter had just turned four when we took her to WDW for the first time. We rode BTMRR over and over at her request! She loved it and Soarin'. I was too scared to let her on Tower of Terror, but she was tall enough. She did get scared on Splash Mtn and Dinosaur.

Hold on to her tight and be prepared for the equivalent of 'Hands up Aunty Cheryl!" :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

there is no "right age" in my opihnion.
if the child is tall enough and wants to go on then let him go on.

my niece was going on soarin, test track, and splash mountain at 2yrs4mos and tower of terror at 3yrs4mos.

she didn't really want to go on thunder mountain so she didn't.

Does he like fast rides?

My so HATED it. In fact he still talks about how I FORCED him onto the runaway mine train and he's never ever riding it again.

My daughter rode both Space Mtn and Big Thunder when she was 3. She liked Space better.

Big Thunder is fine for a 5 year old.

If the kid is tall enough, then they can ride. Whether they will like it or not depends on the kid. Without knowing your kid we can't really tell you if he will like it or not. has he tried a smaller coaster like Barnstormer?

My son first rode this at 4 years old. It's his favorite ride at Disney.

Absolutely yes! But I'd start with Goofini/Barnstormer and seek BTMRR as being faster (as long as faster is viewed as "cooler"

Big Thunder Mountain is my 5 y.o. favorite ride at Disney.

We ride as often as we can after rope drop....6 times on one morning.

While Big Thunder is a "real" roller coaster experience, it is still a tame ride (unless you have motion sickness).

Matter of fact, this was our first ride on our first day......today!!!

Good luck making your FP+ reservations.

It was a big YES for our son (at Disneyland, his first trip to WDW will be this February). He was 4, almost 5 the first time he rode it. He is a huge thrill-seeker, though. He rode Journey to Atlantis at Sea World, Space Mountain in California, Thunder Mountain, the Matterhorn, and every other fast ride he was tall enough for. He loved them all.

I'm sending him on Tower of Terror with his Grandpa this vacation. This mama can't handle it! LOL

Absolutely! My daughter first rode it at 4 and she loves it!

Same here. My ds was 4yo. He loved it and rode it multiple times that trip. Then, one year later at 5yo, he no longer liked it :worried: Now he is 6yo and we leave in a little over a week. He says he is riding it. We'll see :confused3
