Big tarp on Main Street - Is it still there?

Yep, and I agree with you!

But I can still say I don't like the big, brown box and Disney should have put up a pretty scrim instead like they have in the past.:goodvibes

There are pictures in previous posts of the scrim going up in pieces. As much as we know Disney is a magical place, in real life things take time and labor. It looks like it will be done in the coming days.

Exactly. IMO, a person can still be able to be thankful they're able to go to WDW, and still be disappointed with something. Its not an either/or kind of thing. I might not like the big brown box, but I will still have a wonderful trip - just as wonderful as it would have been without the box. And I'm still thankful to be there.

The thing about being thankful is you have no reason to be thankful to Disney, you pay money for your trip and therefore can be totally upset if something gets wrong. However, there are big things and little things and little things just do not deserve all the drama IMHO.

First, to all you :drinking1 you will love the house margarita sold at the Tune In Lounge (or is it the Tune Out Lounge?) at DHS. They even offer to-go cups.

Second, don't forget the kiosk in France that sells those Grand Marnier slushes also sells shots of Grand Marnier for under $7. I'm just trying to help.

Third, the Sidecar straight up at the Brown Derby is TO.DIE.FOR.

To answer the OP's question, I was there yesterday and the bakery had the wooden painted plywood cover, didn't pay attention to tarps. The hat place on the corner had tarps covering it, and not the pretty Disney tarps either.

YUM. Sounds good. Where is the Tune In Lounge? Is that Prime Time? I heard the Grand Marnier slushes were good. Have to try the Side car staight up! LOL!

thanks! Brunette:goodvibes

What's interesting is that, people (including myself) will walk down main street, balk at the brown paper bag plunked down on the sidewalk and then...
we'll forget about it.
sure, it will be in *some* pictures, but in a few months, most people will look at those pictures and think "yeah, that thing was ugly!" and then immediately move on to the more important pictures of themselves and their families enjoying the World.

It is unfortunate that they made no attempt at disguising it, and all of the refurbs going on at the same time are somewhat disappointing, but after the vacation, after everyone's done fuming at a very small part of their overall experience, there will still be no place like Disney :wizard:

Just so everyone knows, while the tarp is up and re-haps are made, disney is lowering some of the park costs. The cost for all or any rides will be free with park entry, please parden our dust. :sad2:

Thanks for the laugh!!

Yep - I meant that I'm thankful in general :goodvibes. I guess we can just disagree about the other part. I really don't mind if someone wants to complain a little and what's little to me, might feel big to someone else.

You're right. Even the ones who complain the most bitterly will be as you described. This is a very good way of describing what the reality will be for most!

What makes you think something is actually broken? They always did work on parks buildings, nothing new. Lets not cry wolf, not everything is poor management, neglet and so on, however everything is a huge deal for some people on board. :confused3
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Look as long as I can still get my cinnamon rolls and such I'm all good.
I like your attitude!! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

Thank you!! I am excited. It is our first SWW! I heard it is a lot of fun! Can't wait! :goodvibes It is also the first time we are doing the MK view!
I think that MK view is just incredible! We feel SO lucky to be able to indulge with the view, and with kids young enough to take naps midday (and DH, let's be honest!), we get to enjoy it a bunch. You'll LOVE it!!

I don't mind as well, but it is a public forum and everyone can have opinion

about everyones else opinion. And IMO, screaming that tarps are result of poor

management and would affect vacation is overreaction and drama.

Yes, tarps are ugly, yes, they should paint them, now lets walk around this tarp,

see the castle and forget this big yellow box.

After all if this yellow box is the brightest memory of Disney, place with so many

amazing things, then it is time for Vegas vacations.

Actually, I think I mostly agree with you :goodvibes. I just feel that this is a forum and if people want to vent - I can empathize with them. I really don't look forward to that view when I get there, but it sure won't ruin my trip. I'm thankful every time I'm able to pull a trip together (sometimes it feels like a miracle). I do believe people will be happier if they don't "sweat the small stuff," but if they want to complain, I really don't mind it.

I totally agree with peoples right to vent, but I don't agree with broad generalizations and impossible demands. Vent about how unfortunate it was that the timing of ones trip happened in conjunction with a flurry of building issues, vent about bad service, vent about long lines partially caused by Fastpass, vent about bad food (especially considering the price of it), vent about how frustrating it was to have bad weather or a sick child, but be upset because they are doing maintenance when in the same breath talking about how badly the place needs maintenance. Doing so without any real knowledge about how all things happen and why you don't rebuild something everyday just because someday it might need a repair. Going on about a building, still standing, for 500 years when one could only have been alive for 50 years of that and have no idea what was required to keep it standing for the preceding 450 years, does not mean anything. Who knows...it might be that the bakery will still be there 460 years from now. It would probably help if it were made of stone though.

When you add to this the constant complaints over the last few years about how Disney is unwilling to reinvest in the parks and are only concerned about profit and now to listen to the complaints because they are working on it. That causes me to rebel a little...sorry about that.;)

vent about long lines partially caused by Fastpass

I'd rather hear someone go on about the big brown box.

Any day.

All day.

Hands down.

At least with the brown box I assume there's something under it that did indeed need fixing. The fastpass system is not broken and has no such need to be fixed.

Nope, we're staying on point -- the construction boxes only!!:lmao:

Sooo, does anyone have any recent pictures from today?popcorn::
When did they even put this box. I remember drama about sheer cover in one of the sections of FE, then like a week later they put a solid wall.

The first I saw it posted was 1/6/12.

Anyone have any other info?
