BIG Spider Season has started - Yikes!!!

Ewww! Tricia that spider IS creepy. He looks like he has aliens on his back!:earseek:

My DH and I were saying the same thing this AM!!! We have seen spiders these past couple fo weeks that were HUGE for our area!!!!:earseek:

Late last night a huge one skittered across our family room floor, I just caught it in my peripheral vision and I swear I thought it was a mouse. Then it went under the couch and honest to goodness, peeked out and went back under again! DS 14 and I were just looking at each other -- did we just see that?? We moved the couch and he kept running under. Finally we squashed him, no way was I going to bed with that beast lurking around.

Since this thread is back at the top I thought I should post.

Would you people please stop responding to this thread so it will go away???????? PLEASE??????? AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! :p

Yes, I hate spiders and every time I see this thread I'm looking around to make sure there are none in my living room.

Spiders - Don't even get me started on spiders! They're everywhere right now! Luckily, we don't get the huge ones, just the small and 'medium-sized' ones (can you even get medium-sized spiders? ;) :p )

Awhile back, I asked on the DIS, what, exactly is it that makes you afraid of spiders? Because my DH constantly says "I don't know WHY you're afraid of spiders. You're way bigger than them".
I hate the look of them and how they move so quickly!

Just sprayed last night for the spiders. As soon as the first one enters the house DH gets out the Triazicide (sp?) and sprays the entire perimeter of the house. Usually one spraying lasts about 2-3 weeks!

We are all dealing with them too. My parents live across from us and mom is having a problem with them in the litter box. She has to clean it everyday because her kitty is sooo picky. Here is her description..... " Everytime I clean the litter box these huge big black hairy spiders come out of it. I just use one of your brother's imported beer bottles to kill it. They are as big as the bottom of the bottle! I clean it every day and feel like they have a sign somewhere saying free rent! I hate them!!!" I asked if it was full bottles of beer she was using and if my brother knew this. She said .."Nope, and I ain't tellin' him either!!" lol

The other day I read somewhere that you are never more than 3 1/2 feet away from a spider! Gross!

We get so many spiders here. We live out in the woods anyway, plus my the attic was just finished in my house about 4 years ago. It became my bedroom, sis's bedroom, etc. But the spiders still live up there. I have more spiders most years in my room than are in the rest of the rooms in the house combined. I HATE spiders so bad. We don't get the really big ones, but they're plenty big enough. And there's nothing worse than walking through a spider web on the way to my car at 6:30 in the morning. What a rude awakening.

And let the nightmares begin....

Nothing skeeves me out more than spiders. I make my husband kill them but then I make him show me the corpse so I know that he really did squish the thing and not just swish it away.

Why did I read this tread...I HATE SPIDERS !!!!!!

I just know I'm going to have nightmares. The only thing worse than spiders are COCKROACHES.

Must think 'happy thoughts' :earsboy: :earsboy: ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo :teeth:

There seems to more than usual. A spider, rather big (about the size of a quarter) insisted on making a web right outside my door. I was nice the first time and just removed the web with a broom and did not kill the spider. It came back TWICE and spun its web, the last time it was actually INSIDE the doorway with some web between the wood door and storm door. I had it! That was the last straw! Spider then had a deadly meeting with the bottom of my shoe.

There's still webs outside in my windows, if they stay I guess I don't have to decorate for Halloween, LOL!

Did you also know that they did a study and over your lifetime you will swallow an average of 8 spiders while you sleep now that makes me sick.

http://www.snopes.com/science/stats/spiders.htm

This "statistic" was not only made up out of whole cloth, it was invented as an example of the absurd things people will believe simply because they come across them on the Internet.

In a 1993 PC Professional article, columnist Lisa Holst wrote about the ubiquitous lists of "facts" that were circulating via e-mail and how readily they were accepted as truthful by gullible recipients. To demonstrate her point, Holst offered her own made-up list of equally ridiculous "facts," among which was the statistic cited above about the average person's swallowing eight spiders per year, which she took from a collection of common misbeliefs printed in a 1954 book on insect folklore. In a delicious irony, Holst's propagation of this false "fact" has spurred it into becoming one of the most widely-circulated bits of misinformation to be found on the Internet.

last week we were checking our peppers in the garden and saw a huge string, my boyfriend 'plucked' the string, and we looked up ahead of it, and saw a HUGE spider. I'll show you a pic, but enter @ your own risk, it's pretty creepy.

spider in our garden

We put it in a tupperware and put it by the woods, but a few days ago I saw another one, not nearly as big, but stilll pretty creepy. This is the first time a spider has really creeped me out, I'm not usually that afraid of them at all.

tricia.

That's just a garden spider. They belong out there!

We have tons of spiders in our yard and there are some really big ones... as long as they don't bother me, I won't bother them. If we find any inside (usually small ones) I do insist on them being disposed of. I really hate bugs and will scream at the sight of one indoors but I don't mind spiders from afar, espeically with the really cool webs they build!

Actually it was talked about during one of my classes while in University way back when LOL you know when I was alot younger ok in 92. Our prof brought it up not sure why the subject came up but regardless it did he had some facts about it and so on that is where I got it from not the internet. If it is made up I would be so happy I hate the thought that I may eat a spider while I am sleeping LOL.
