Big runDisney announcement coming in April

It's a video, and my computer is loading it slower than molasses in January.

Jan 27-29, 2012

Those who are fans on FB can register now until 11 am exclusively...

The run Disney registration page says:

Disneyland® Resort becomes Never Land for a magical weekend especially for Fairies and Princesses. It starts with a Family 5K and Kids' Races and culminates with a 13.1-mile run that weaves you through Disneyland® Resort. Just follow the second star to the right!

Weekend Events will include:

* Tinker Bell Half Marathon
* Never Land Family Fun Run 5K
* Disney Kids' Races
* Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend Expo

As you can also guess, it's a women's race (according to the video) but with a new course.

A month after marathon weekend?? Geez, oh well, I'll pass.

another event build for women. Is Disney purposely trying to elimate men from running, or are they just completely stupid.

Woo hoo!
I'm so excited!
It's pretty close to my original prediction.
I won't spoil it for you who haven't watched the video yet.
But I can't wait!!!:cool1:

Is it a 5k/Half/Full or what? That's 3 days!

I added that info to my post along with the stuff from the run disney registration site. It's a half, Family 5K, and kid races.

Well I'm local so I will do it. I'm happy to see DL getting another race. But since I'm going to WDW for the Goofy and then this....Surf City 1/2 marathon the following weekend is going to get cut from my schedule. That's a bummer.

Apparently. What a bunch of <expletive>s everyone in that organization is. Oh how I wish there was an exception for this thread on what I can say here because it would be entertaining for everyone involved.

Since Disney obviously doesn't want me to do their races, with my evil external genitals and all, they will get their wish.

I don't understand why they would schedule a race for 3 weeks after WDW marathon weekend? I'm closer to DL, but I would much rather go to marathon weekend in FL and it's not likely I could take 2 trips in 3 weeks. And why is it another women focused event? I'm definitely disappointed.

I have no issues with the theme of the race. It makes Disney money, so they're going to do it.

I have issues with the timing. That's what upsets me the most.

If anything, I guess this race is aimed directly at those women on the West Coast who don't want to fly to WDW for marathon weekend or Princess weekend. And that's it.

I think they must be doing FB marketing research??? This doesn't make sense to me. But what do I know about scheduling races. I knew there would be some not so happy men on these boards.

I am a fairly new runner and had my goal of doing the WDW full this year, but life comes first and I am patient so 2012 became my goal and I think I will just keep that for now. The Princess has been fun (3 years in a row), but it isn't something I have to do and I love to travel to Disney, but I also like to do other trips as well so I don't see a fourth year of the Princess (of course, I am a woman and allowed to change my mind).

Perhaps this is a way to help those on the west coast so they don't have to travel so far and they can keep the girly races a bit smaller??? I don't know and in a couple of minutes I won't care.

I may one day travel back to Southern CA to do it, if it is still around.

I'm watching it now - it's running really slowly.

2:45 in starts the actual annoucement

Tinkerbell Half at Disneyland

Too bad it's only 3 weeks after Marathon Weekend at WDW! Who can run/afford both (in vacation time, recovery time, and $$$ for flights and accomodations?!?)
