Big runDisney announcement coming in April

Here's my thing about Fantasyland, which I could be totally off-base about...

If the new Fantasyland is only opening partially in late 2012, would they really hold a big to-do race about it next year?

And, if they wouldn't, would they really be announcing a 2013 race now?

As maddening as the clues are it will be interesting to go back after and see how they fit in. Since they wouldn't have been announcing the race until April anyway the clues aren't as much pushing the announcement back as they are filling the time beforehand. When I look at it like that I don't mind them.

I have to agree with this. On one hand, it is driving me crazy. On the other, it's at least giving me something to do to fill the time and will be fun to say "ooooooh, so THAT'S what that meant" after.

See, I'll be contrary, and say that I hate the mother/child concept - if nothing else, it helps cement the notion that fathers are more of a fashion accesory than an active parent. (And, I am not really wild on the idea of parent/child endurance races - mainly because of the possible strain on young atheletes.)

Surely they wouldn't theme a race THAT specific??? I personally don't have a problem with a gender-specific race myself as long as everyone is still allowed to run...but one that specifically centers around mothers/children doesn't seem like such a good idea...it's too touchy of a subject in my opinion...there will be those who, under several different circumstances, don't have children...and too many without a mother as well...just seems to exclude alot of people (including Dad's, like you said!) that wouldn't fit the theme for too many really emotional reasons. And if they were theme a race like that, I would think it would belong more in the kids races...and SURELY all this hype isn't for a new kids race??? :headache:

Great points! And, yes, I hope this isn't all about a kid's race!

My main three hopes about the new race... 1)open to men 2) at disney world 3) completely different time than others (opens up more options for the dis vacation). Outside of that, open to anything.

It'll definitely be open to men. It might be themed for women, but they can't tell you not to run!

As much as I want an Epcot race the clues are making me think it will be through Fantasyland. It may still start and/or finish at Epcot but the clues are telling me it will go through MK and probably have a Fantasyland theme.

If it gives you more hope, there's a Rapunzel tower in Epcot so all's not lost yet that Epcot will be involved. :goodvibes

Looks like I picked the wrong week to give up drinking

I agree :wizard: And I can't wait to hear what it is!

I had to go back to the clue post.

What started as a little line is now this:

I keep saying I don't care and when they tell us they tell us...but I keep checking back here to see if anyone figured it out yet, so I obviously do :lmao:

They just may put you a corral (or more - since a man crossed the Princess first this year, despite being in corral B, I keep expecting them to announce that men start in C, or farther back), they won't record a place, ignore you at the finish line, etc. They may not tell you that you can't run, but they sure as heck do almost everything they can to discourage men from running.

Looking at the new picture - it's an ultra, because only a "crack pot" would run it. :lmao:

Maybe you'll get a small crack rock in your race packet. The first one is always free. :goodvibes

NOT very Disney-esque ;)

This is going to be my general thought when they finally reveal the race.

Hehehe

:rotfl: I DO care - I just hope it's in FL and that I can participate!!

 (and roomthreeseventeen, LOVE the video. )

I have mixed feelings on the women-themed races. In some ways, as a slooooooow back-of-the-packer, I like having a race where I have plenty of company at the back and it's encouraging rather than super-competitive.

However, I am not a girly-girl and the pink princessy stuff sort of annoys me, and I also am not sure how I feel about excluding a whole gender from something like that.

The mother/child thing doesn't apply as we do not and will not have children, and my mom is in her mid-70s and wouldn't be running even if she weren't.

I actually love the idea of a mother/daughter race, but isn't that basically what the Princess race already is, but refocused?
