Yes --- since the escapade w/Ben, Brynne is going to end up pregnant and Ben won't know how to deal w/it. He will be afraid of disappointing his family for not keeping his "virtue". They'll prob. wind up on the Maury Povitch show and she will be screaming at Ben and she'll reveal his family is polygamist and he'll deny it. Then, she'll end up living w/Margene and will become Bill's 4th wife.

Although I am joking about the Maury Povitch part and Brynne becoming Bill's 4th wife, I have a sneaking suspicion that the rest will happen. You know something's gotta happen to Ben! And, his coupling w/Brynne is the perfect window of opportunity for Ben to mess up!

I'm pretty sure the finale is the first Sunday in June.

Examples, please!!! Thanks!

Well, when they mention things like a "temple recommend". If you aren't Mormon, you are not going to know what that means. Also being "sealed". That's another Mormon term. The part where the PR person is talking about having a Cougar symbol that is saying BYU without saying BYU. Well, BYU stands for Brigham Young University. It is a Mormon college with the name of one of the first prophets. Also when she was showing Bill the two pictures of the same woman, but in one of the pictures you could see the Mormon undergarments in the picture under her clothes. If you aren't Mormon, you most likely won't understand that.

And, how about Margene being pregnant? Who'd have thunk that! I wonder how she'll explain that to the neighbors.

Didn't she tell the guy that was "courting" her that she was in loe with someone else? I'm sure he reported that back to the neighbor lady that set them up.

I do think that Nikki is going to be a jealous, jealous girl over this pregnancy. Should be interesting.....

I think Rhonda is going to need help getting out and will blackmail Barb into helping her - something to do with the whole Mom of the year thing.

JMHO! Love the show and hope it comes back next season. :thumbsup2

Rhonda doesn't honestly think Roman is going to send her off to be an actress with a kiss on the head and a wish for good luck does she?? She does realize it's marry Roman or run away doesn't she?

Also, it wasn't clear. When Bill put the elder on the bus, did he take his wives with him? Where was he going?

I'm guessing the neighbor lady finds out Margie is pregnant, puts 2 and 2 together and the you know what hits the fan!

I agree, but ... didn't they show Nikki taking birth control pills a few episodes back ... right around the time she announced to the family that she wanted to bring a "new soul" into the family ? I think I'm missing something ... why would she be on the pill ? And wouldn't that be against "the principle" ? :confused3

I love Nikki ! She cracks me up ... definately has the best lines in the show. :rotfl2:

Why the heck was Margene doing all that yard work in a mini-skirt ? Just to torture poor Ben, I guess ;) Did you all catch the camera shot ( from Ben's perspective ) of Margene's legs while driving in her mini skirt when she and Nikki showed up at the school to pick up Ben ? Poor boy !

When Bill was putting the elder on the bus. His wives were making sure his scooter was being loaded underneath.

The top of the bus said it was going to Tucson, AZ.

I just want to add too that I was so suprised by all the Mormon "lingo" and symbolism that is used in "Big Love". I am Mormon and I think that some of that stuff that they say would go over some people's heads if they weren't Mormon or at least had a good amount of knowledge about it.

I am so happy you are on this thread! :)

I have a question that only a Mormon could answer. Exactly WHAT do Mormons think of polygamy? Doesn't polygamy have roots in the Mormon religion somehow? I always wondered what the connection was.

Well, I personally am totally against it. I am just too darn greedy to share a man. From what I know about it (without looking it up), I know that it was outlawed in Utah because the United States would not admit that state to the union with pologamy being legal. I think that everyone that was involved with it at that time were "grandfathered" in. Everyone else could not marry more than one wife. Now, I know that there are a very small group of people that still believe that you are not a true Mormon unless you are living that principle. Alot of Mormons just try to deny it ever existed. It did exist and Mormons just need to accept it as part of the history of the church.

That was not clear. The wives were there but it looked like the bus door closed after the elder boarded the bus. How funny was it when the elder
said 3 men had their eye out for one of his old wives :rotfl2:

***vent ahead***

Something about this last episode just annoyed me. I guess it is the total lack of discretion. Bill leaves the 'wives wills' folder sitting on his desk, door wide open. The 'mother of the year' issue (Oh my, I didn't realize there would be so much publicity involved, sorry but if the first lady is involved there is publicity), Margenes 'breakup' with the neighbor (she left a suspicious person wondering about her and her relationship with the 'braid'), Bill's interest in the businessmans club (more eyes on him) Nikki opening the garage door while screaming at Margene.

I guess you could expect this from Margene, she is new to the lifestyle...but you would think they would do everything in their power to stay as low key as possible. They do the opposite.

I guess it would make more sense to me if one of the sisterwives was very good at being discreet and the others were just learning, but for 3 women and the husband to be so careless in big ways...it doesn't ring true.

I really love the premise of this show, but I am sort of turned off by the lack of authentic'ness' tat I feel is missing within the main characters. Honestly I cannot put my finger on it completely. I guess, it's the idea of what sort of women would be involved in this...what level of religious faith this family would exhibit...the level of discretion/secretiveness that would be just automatic.

I am not seeing it in the characters, particularly in the last episode. There is something really off...maybe it is because they are trying so hard to get 'everyday' people to tune in.

I know I am bouncing around here with my thoughts. There was just something about this episode that bugged me.

As far as predictions:

Nikki will do everything she can to get pregnant now too.
The neighbor is trouble, Wendy is trouble.
Ben's girlfriend will have a pregnancy scare, I think, but not end up truly pregnant. Or want an abortion if she is.
I think Margene will have problems with the pregancy. (btw, is she 23 now, or when she married in?)

Nikki announced she wanted to get pregnant again in order to get more "private" time with Bill. She never had any intention of actually getting pregnant again. I don't think fundamentalist mormons have any rules against birth control but I can't say for sure, cuz...well, I ain't one.

I love this show but I have to agree that it doesn't seem very authentic. With the exception of Nikki, none of the characters seem to be the type who would be involved in polygamy. Or maybe it's a lot more common than we realize??

I think Nikki is not always so quiet about everything because she grew up on the compound where they were very much out in the open and now she has to hide and she is not used to that.

I think that Margene is 23 now, because on the official website it said that she was 21, so after having those 2 kids 23 would make sense.

I agree that the this week's episode opened a can of worms. Nikki is not only mean and decitful, she's a lunatic wanting to leave her kids to the compound!!!
Isn't the next show the last of the season? If it is,then the writers are just opening up a whole bunch os storylines to pick up on next season.
The oldest sister/ wife told Nikki that she couldn't promise to keep to the principle if Bill died so apparently she's living this way because she loves her husband.

I think that Nicki has a split personality. One minute she plays the tough-as-nails, vindictive sister-wife and the next, she's the meek, mild, repentive type. You never know which Nicki is going to surface.

I also think she's very interesting because in one way, she's the most open (the "braid", the prairie garb) and in others, she's the most secretive, telling Margene she needs to quit giving out clues to the neighbors.

As much as Barb is my "favorite" sister-wife, Nicki is the one I can't wait to see the most - she's just more interesting.

I still see a Margene/Ben thing happening next season. Perhaps a little more warped when you figure in Margene's pregnancy and Ben's "loss of virtue".

I agree with everything you've said. What I would think would happen in real life would be that Bill would make Nikki dress to conform to the norms of society so she wouldn't be a beacon flashing their lifestyle. I think the whole compound thing was her way of trying to get love from her mother but I also think it is because she was that brainwashed into the principle when she was a child.

I think Barb agreed to this for her family's sake and now she's stuck, albeit cured of her physical cancer, she is living a cancerous lifestyle.

I think Nikki is the principle-holder due to her early initiation into the lifestyle.

I think Margene is too young and insecure to know that what she's doing isn't right. She has shown very little self-esteem throughout this season but has shown a huge desire to please and to fit in.

I think I have nailed what is bothering me about the show. If they would be polygamists because they really just wanted to all live together in a multiple wife situation, that would seem authentic.

The fact that they are trying to pass the main characters off as faith driven polygamists, just isn't reflective in their actions. Yes, they mention faith and the 'principle', but it comes off as an afterthought and not the main theme of their polygamist lifestyle. Does that make any sense?
