Big Love premiered last night

I was shocked that man looking woman always with Hollis Green was his wife. He always refered to her as my brother Selma.

Yeah, what was up with that? Did he call her Selma in this episode? Is Selma even her name, or were they just making up an identity for her?

Hollis would say "This is my brother, Selma Green."

.... maybe he would reference her like that because she is part of his church of polygamy. ?? Selma refers to Hollis as "their prophet, Hollis Green."
In General, The Greens have a odd way of speaking.. Hollis always refers to himself in third person.

I had just assumed that Selma was Hollis's ''right hand man" sort of like Adaleen is for Roman.. but I never thought of Selma performing any wifely duties for Hollis

Does anyone think this Ben and Margie thing is weird? During the first season I saw this spark between them, but I just associated with them both being really young. I do like that Margie made it clear - without room for doubt where she stands on their relationship, but I think she should tell Barb.

I just read the link and currently she is on my soap Y&R as a bartender in a seedy hole in the wall bar and her name is "Jimmy"!! I watch both BL and Y&R and never would have guessed that Jimmy and Selma are the same actress!!!! She is kinda "tough" on Y&R but she is not manly like on BL!!!

Wow, I don't know how I missed this thread. We watched seasons 1 and 2 over Christmas and subbed to HBO back in the summer to watch TrueBlood and kept it so we could watch Big Love. It's one my favorite shows and this season has been AMAZING!!! I knew there was something up with Selma, I did not know what is what though. I just thought it was an effeminate man. I can't wait to see what happens with Niki. I haven't read the spoiler yet...it is tempting though.

Don't ya'll think that Wanda had a bit of an idea what was going on with Cathy? I got the vibe that she was setting Cathy up. I think Wanda is creepy. ::shudder::

I'm kind of annoyed with Sarah. Her friend Heather is being left high and dry now that Sarah isn't pregnant. She is just like "Well, I'm not going to ASU now. Good luck!" Hello? She was going for YOU!!! Sheesh, selfish much?

Nikki, she's just a little off, but she is loving that her boss likes her. I was actually surprised she went out with him, I'm looking forward to see how this plays out.

Margene, she needs to stand up and say "I'm not going to be the only one stuck at home everyday!!" I'm proud of her for what she did to Nikki.

ITA with all the above, especially the part about Wanda...I thought she sent Cathy up the hill on purpose.
